Wanted: Women willing to run for office as members of a party that denigrates them and constantly votes against their interests. Also must like guns.

Apparently the GOP has noticed that they are severely lacking in female candidates. So they have come up with a plan to convince more females to come out of the kitchen, put their shoes back on, stop getting pregnant, and prepare to run for office.

This from Hotline on Call.

"It's the women that we've been missing in the past," says RNC co-chair Jan Larimer. "We're not going to miss them anymore."

Larimer has spearheaded the party's efforts to recruit and train more women candidates. And based on the GOP's efforts this year, the party needs the help.

Among the NRCC's Young Guns program(Why do all Republicans have a gun fetish? Are ALL of their penises that small?), just 4 of 41 candidates in one of the top 2 tiers are women. The NRSC has done a little better, quietly favoring women candidates in CO, CA and NH. Now, party officials are on the case.

"We're working with the women in Congress ... to empower the women in their states to get involved and to participate," Larimer told Hotline On Call in an interview at the party's annual Winter meeting in Honolulu.

Well I guess that is positive news. At least the party synonymous with "good old boys" is finally trying to understand women on THEIR terms. Or did I speak too soon?

"Women sometimes need a little more handholding, or they need their friends to help them make a decision. And by our going in and talking to them and recruiting and educating and training them to either get involved in a campaign or become a candidate, we're giving them the tools so that they can do that on their own," Larimer added.

WTF? So in other words to coax Republican women into standing up for their country somebody has to get all of their girlfriends together for a Tupperware/slumber/candidate encouragement party to convince them to run?

"Oh Bobby Joe, I think we should dye your hair, paint your fingernails, and put your name on the ballot for mayor!"

Holy crap! Is that how they chose Palin?

And what is this garbage about holding their hand? Has anybody ever suggested that somebody needs to hold a male candidate's hand to give him the confidence to throw his hat into the political ring? The GOP is supposedly looking for competent candidates to run for Congress, not trying to convince their girlfriend to ride Space Mountain with them.

Here is a little hint for the Republicans. If you really want strong, effective female candidates, perhaps you should stop treating them like drunk sorority girls you are trying to shame into touching your penis. Maybe then you will not wake up the next morning, all hung over, and with so many Michele Bachmans and Sarah Palins in your party.

Don't forget that they must be willing to wear micromini skirts and CFM pumps for Memorial Day ceremonies.

What the GOP really lacks are candidates that people would want to vote for.

The plumbing is a secondary consideration.

The sad thing is that the few intelligent women the GOP allows into their little Penis Envy Club already know this. Remember the hot mike reaction to the news that Palin had been tapped for VP? Serious Republican female candidates don't have a chance against the Wingnuts.

  7. So the GOP menfolk have given up bashing Hillary Clinton. The GOP did a bashing job on the female candidate in the NY Dist 23 race.
How stupid do the GOP menfolk think women are.....we know about the 4F's.

Hey, Larimer, I've a news flash for you: it's not JUST the women that the GOP has been missing. It's also the African Americans, the Hispanics, the gays and lesbians, and nearly EVERYONE who isn't a redneck white male.

  9. Intelligent women wouldn't come back to the Rs if they really tried, beyond the Tupperware party bull. They have the R's number--hostile to women.

"Serious Republican female candidates don't have a chance against the Wingnuts." This says it all. The LAST thing the rethugs want is an intelligent, strong, well-informed woman candidate – for ANY office. And they are hoping that no one will notice.

It's a problem in both major parties and industry as well which the country as a whole needs to address. Many women have to balance family and work, and with more than 50% of parenting and household duties in most marriages, just don't want to do what is req'd for big time careers. (At least those of us who, unlike SP, try to do a decent job parenting and working.)

until there are more support for women working outside home and more men who are ok with being a stay at home or primary care parent, there won't be many women in high positions.

If you can tolerate it for more than a few minutes, just look at the mouthpieces for the GOP, Limbaugh & Beck, and how they talk about women on a regular basis. Limbaugh repeatedly denigrates women, he's a pig, to put it mildly and Beck, remember his outrage at the thought of Palin in the Oval Office? He said he'd be wondering why she wasn't in the kitchen if he were to run as her running mate! These are the men that speak for the GOP?!

The GOP has long been afraid of women. They do not really want women in their "rich, white mens' club". Their token few from which to choose a VP candidate and they could only come up with Palin? Why did they choose her? She looked good on TV. If they had done a little research, anything more than an hour's worth, they would have seen she was political dynamite. Being very disappointed that Hillary didn't get the nomination, I was pleased to see the GOP run a woman for VP. Yes, I saw their plan to try to attract Hillary voters and if Hillary, herself, had been put on a ticket with McCain, I still wouldn't have voted for him. Instead, I googled Palin and found plenty to be concerned with from Troopergate to the financial debt she saddled Wasilla with during her time as Mayor. It was easy to see that she didn't have the experience necessary and that was from less than two hours of research.

Did they even look at anything other than the YouTube video of her on Charlie Rose?

When I hear about a GOP "Young Guns" program, and that they are missing women, I worry about what will happen when they have better marksmanship skills.

Oh, but wait! Isn't Sarah going to address the 'bots soon and tell them how to organize their lives. Or handle the stress of being a mom and working away from home. Or some such twaddle.
