Elizabeth Hasselbeck speaks out against Sarah Palin's use of crosshairs to target Democrats. Update!

I was at the gym today, on my favorite Cybex elliptical machine, working off some girl scout cookies, when I looked up at the bank of televisions on the wall in front of me and spotted the image below.

I immediately pulled my earphone plug out of my I-phone and jammed it into the receiver on my machine and listened in amazement as Elizabeth Hasselbeck on the "View" absolutely demolished Sarah Palin and the other conservative hate mongers for inciting violence.

No I am not kidding.  The very same Elizabeth Hasselbeck who accompanied Palin on a number of campaign stops in 2008 and even received an honorable mention in "Going Rogue", is flat fed up with Caribou Barbie.

I am not usually a fan of Hasselbeck but I have to admit she showed a hell of a lot more class then most of the GOP has shown in response to this hate speech.

I am still looking for video of the segment.  If any of you locate any please send me a link.

Update:  I found it on YouTube.  It starts right off on the subject of threats and hate speech.  Hasselbeck begins her response at 1:39.

Update 2: Celtic Diva reminds us that before this Sarah Palin honed her hate speech skills by going after Alaska bloggers. Gee where was OUR security?

I don't figure the TLC will learn, but for what it is worth remember that organizing against ogres and bad programming has had its successful endeavors.

The reality show documentary crap will be out there and replayed for Palinites to say it is science and history. They are all about homeschooling little Piper's to think they are scholars. Obey your parents or else. What else do those fertile minds learn?

She's still saying the same shit today in Texas.

Sarah Palin speaks at motivational seminar in Beaumont http://www.kfdm.com/news/seminar-37165-sarah-beaumont.html

KFDM anchor Ashley Rodrigue was in the Civic Center to cover the story. Ashley says Palin told the crowd that when faced with a challenge, "Don't retreat-reload."

My sense is that Palin is primarily driven by an enormous case of narcissism. But why would she be interested in breeding a demonic cult? At a more fundamental, psychological level, does she feel a desire to bring down others in order to lift herself up, so to speak? (Apparently, she lacks qualities to lead on a positive platform.) I'd love to hear from those who have known Sarah on a personal level over the years. Has she always had a vindictive, spiteful, petty nature about her? Clearly there's little more than a hurtful child inside that woman. I've met adults that I would consider to be pretty immature, and she tops most of them quite easily. It blows my mind to think that her follows generally consider themselves to be religious. So backwards from the truth. With time, the greater public will likely see she has nothing new to offer, and likely she will just fade away into obscurity. As long as this petty child doesn't get anywhere near the Presidency again, whatever she does with her own life is fine with me.

Boy she changed her tune since a couple of days ago. Credit where credit's due, but I wouldn't give her too much credit. This just means that she got new talking points from The View's very right wing producer who feeds her her lines according to Rosie O'Donnell. He probably had to reign her in due to backlash from her rant a couple of days ago. Even though she's now saying this, however, she's still getting in her little digs about health care which IMO is still a way of excusing the violence.

I can't stand her she actually makes me nauseous and quit watching the show when Rosie left after their on air fight.

Thank you Eliz for speaking out !

Former half term gov & her ilk are prepping the way for "rapture" - like Manson wanting to start the war between the blacks & white in the 60's -- Palin appears to want a war in the US.

These ppl are dangerous and if they don't TONE IT DOWN, agree when someone gets injured by their rhetoric - the blood is on their hands !!!

To Anonymous at 11:17 am (CST): there are already several articles by Sarah's high school classmates and others who talk about her obsessive compulsion to win whatever the cost. I don't have the exact sites to give you, but I bet others can or you can google them.

Let's see if my comments joggle anyone else's memory so you can get the info you ask for as soon as possible.

One article I remember was on a classmate who transferred into Sarah's middle school/junior high. This new girl was on the team Sarah was on and was pretty and charming enough to attract the attention of a boy Sarah had set her eyes on (the same boy who later became Todd's partner and was rumored to be the father of Track). Anyway, the former classmate talked about how upset she was that Sarah made it her goal to win that boy away from her and how she treated her on the court because of envy.

You probably already know about the Wasilla townspeople who have spoken about their memories of interaction with her.

Now, as to this next one, my memory is a bit shaky, perhaps I was hallucinating it but it seems to me that someone who competed with her in one of the beauty pageants came forward last year to discuss Sarah's ruthless desire to win.My apologies (chock, chock - but sincere nonetheless) to Palin if that is untrue.

Can anyone help this poster out with more recollections and perhaps point him or her to articles/info on this? I have been reading so many Alaskan blogs about Palin since '08, some of this stuff blurs a bit.

Hasselbeck also drove me away from the view even though, I too, love Whoopie.

I also choked when I read your lead, but I must admit I have to give Elizabeth her due. She is finally, at long, long last making sense.

Whether or not her moment of clarity lasts is, as another poster said, still to be determined, but I am grateful for her comments today.

Did anyone else see Rep. Cantor's sorry-ass press conference this morning blaming Democrats and the media for the violence? Goodness what a load. I am going to contribute to his opponent come November.

It didn't even occur to me that there might be a lot out there already. I'll try and take a look. I do remember at least one story from the Alaskan beauty pageant. It's stories like that that feel more real in my gut about her.

Hasselbeck was clearly uncomfortable with what she was saying. Her head was down and she had little eye contact. She was Really going out on a personal limb and I admire her for that. She'll catch some crap for this one. (Notice how I didn't say she'll catch some "Flack"?)

Thanks to Celtic Diva for the reality check and reminder of how Sarah tried to destroy Alaskan bloggers. Those of us who read Gryphen regularly know too well the damage she has caused.

I am grateful for my faith in karmic justice. I just hope I get to see it come Sarah's way. Oh, she may tons of money, but will that money be enough to make her happy. No way - she will never be really happy because of the self-absorbed self-loathing she projects.

I don't envy her her money. I would prefer to have the love and respect of people I love and respect - good, decent, peaceful, intelligent folks. That is, in my opinion, the real test for a successful life. To make a positive difference in the lives of others is another. Sarah is not going to achieve either of those goals,I bet.

What the hell does it say about the Republican Party when the most well reasoned voices are from Meghan McCain and Elizabeth Hasselbeck? The GOP needs to be LOUDLY condemned for its incitement of their idiot mobs and their thinly veiled calls for domestic terrorism. The recent and ANY further acts of violence are the direct responsibility of the the reckless hyperbole and fear mongering that have gone on unabated for nearly 2 full years, first from McCain/Palin, then Palin solo, then the rest of the GOP. These folks are nothing but loathsome cowards.

On a related note, I strongly suggest writing to the Discovery Channel and complain about giving a $1 million per episode to a sponsor of domestic terrorism like Palin. I wrote that I would boycott ALL Discovery Channel sponsors if they went ahead with the deal. I suggest that if you object to Palin getting a show when she is such a caustic and dangerous voice calling for the assassination of sitting Democratic members of Congress, call or write and complain like hell. If Discovery chooses to go ahead with her show, they need to know that it will cost them and their sponsors mightily.

Make sure that you prominently mention SPONSORS and how you WON’T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS if they support Palin. Don’t bother with their viewer relation page, it is useless. Write directly to these folks:

  21. Yes, good for Elizabeth for calling Palin out on this. Quite frankly I am a little shocked. And as was pointed out, the Talking Heads own this despite what the delusional John Boehner says because they didn't strongly condemn it either during the 08 campaign nor last year when all the Teabaggers came out. It has been said before, someone is going to get seriously hurt; or worse. And it will belong to the Republican Party.

The Dailey Kos has just posted a portion of the police report about Eric Cantor's claim that someone shot out a window in one of his local campaign offices.

You just know what's coming, don't you?

Turns out that the police report itself states that the police that took out that window was a random bullet, not one targeting his office. It sort of ricocheted into it.

Now, bullets are bullets and are dangerous, and I don't mean to diminish the danger, but Cantor totally misrepresented the situation in order to get some victim creds just like Sarah does.

Then Cantor went on to blame the Democrats and the media for causing the violence against the Democratic Representatives.

What a total jerk. Let's donate to his opponent this fall!

Gryphen, just found an article at HuffPo that explains why the Discovery Channel is going down the toilet (a sure sign of that was Palin's new show deal).

Seems that the new CEO, effective Jan. 19th, is Peter Liguori.

Why is that important to know?

    From the article:

"Liguori, 49, was recently entertainment president for Fox Broadcast Co., a unit of News Corp. He also was CEO of News Corp.'s FX Networks, which encompasses FX and Fox Movie Channel. Under Liguori, the audience reach of FX more than doubled to 84 million in five years, according to Discovery.

"At Discovery, Liguori will oversee Discovery Studios, as well as marketing, corporate communications and corporate affairs, business affairs and media technology, production and operations.

"He will represent Discovery in joint ventures with Hasbro Inc. and OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Liguori also will be chairman of Discovery's content committee, a group comprising general networks from its U.S. cable channels."

That's why the petition is important to sign. This Fox guy will now be in charge of all the Discovery Channels in all aspects.

The article also notes that the stock of the Discovery Channel has risen since its announcement of Palin's debut. How ghastly nuts is that?

Since their inception the Teaparty crowd (not a movement since they do have the numbers or clout) have been “haters not debaters”. In my opinion this is what the small portions of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” have brought you. They are good at “Follow the Leader” of their dullard leaders, they listen to Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush and Savage and the rest of the Blowhards. Are you surprise at what they do when you know what they think? The world is complicated and most republicans (Hamiliton, Lincoln, Roosevelt) believe that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now its about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. Although some republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe most of them are just going along and fanning the flames.

Another thing, we were talking about this today over lunch. Sarah has shown how truly evil she is by posting this. I hope Levi uses this to fight for full custody. Palin has been honing her skills long long before she took on Alaska Bloggers. She reminds me a a 45 year old sixth grader who has learned to be the center of attention by blaming others. My untrained opinion is that she experienced some sort of traumatic event perhaps of a sexual nature as an early teen and has never been able to mature beyond that level. This trauma has contributed to her narcissistic personality and exhibits itself in her continual need for attention acheived by being sexualy pravocation and projecting an overt facination with blood, guts and violence.

The Republicans need to get right with God! First the Republicans wanted to give Obama his Waterloo defeat over healthcare but instead they gave themselves their own Waterloo defeat by not participating in the debate of ideas and by becoming the party of obstructionist. Waterloo defeat refers of course to the defeat at Waterloo put an end to Napoleon's rule as Emperor of the French and was the culminating battle of the Waterloo Campaign and Napoleon's last. Republicans get right with God or get ready for future losses and Rush Limbaugh I real hope you enjoy your new home Costa Rica!
