In Fairbanks the Alaska Peacemakers Militia is ready and waiting.....to get their asses kicked.

From the Fairbanks Newsminer:

Leaders of the Alaska Peacemakers Militia say the organization has the dual goals of providing community cohesion and working as a check on government power.

If the federal government were to collapse, or a severe disaster like Hurricane Katrina occurred, they believe a well-trained, armed militia can help maintain order during the ensuing power vacuum.

“We will be on the street corners, making sure no thugs are out there doing stupid, lawless stuff,” said Les Zerbe, a 63-year-old retired missionary who is a captain in the militia.

But leaders say the Alaska Peacemakers Militia also exists to serve as a check on a government that they say is overbearing. Zerbe, who lives in Fairbanks, said the government should be aware there is “a line in the sand” that can’t be crossed, for fear of sparking a conflict with a group of armed citizens.

Zerbe said the loss of fundamental rights, such as a declaration of martial law, the presence of an international force on U.S. soil, or an attempt to seize firearms would justify a violent response against an oppressive force.

“It is not revolutionary talk,” Zerbe said. “It’s just a warning that there’s a line they cannot cross.”

There's "a line in the sand that cannot be crossed"?  Or what?  What are these pretend soldiers going to do?  Stand up against the entire US Military?  Give me a freaking break!

Have you seen these guys?

Oooh scary aren't they ? These yahoos could not successfully battle a horde of mosquitoes much less the might of the greatest military on the planet.

You know, these guys.

If the Alaska Peacmakers don't drop a load in their matching beige trousers and run home to hide under their bed at the very sight of American soldiers it will still be the shortest battle in this country's history.

By the way one of these tough guys just got busted by the State Troopers for failing to notify the authorities he was carrying a concealed weapon and choking his own wife.  Oh yeah he is the very definition of a "bad ass"!

Of course he claims he is innocent and blames his mother-in-law for telling on him and says that Alaska law enforcement is engaging in "character assassination".  Don't you first have to actually HAVE character before it can be assassinated?

God these guys are the very definition of pathetic. They walk around dressed up like mall cops and want us to take seriously that they are going to serve as the last line of defense when "Obama comes for our guns". I would be more likely to look to the Salvation Army for protection than these idiots.

Nothing the Obama administration has done, or is planning to do, is going to take away anybody's civil rights.  Compared to the Bush administration who authorized spying on Americans, allowed private army Blackwater to roam American streets after Katrina, and suspended Habeas Corpus,  the Obama administration has been nothing but respectful toward the rights of their fellow Americans.

But these idiots were not concerned enough about George W. Bush to form a militia were they?  And why would they?  After all he is a white guy. And it is much easier to find guys to join a clan of like minded "patriots" when the man in the White House of a darker hue isn't it?

I don't support these asshole militias. They're pathetic and paranoid.

But Gryphen, may I suggest you get up to speed on the similarities between Obama and Bush when it comes to trampling on Americans' constitutional rights.

Obama and Bush are two power-grabbing peas in a pod.

Of course these white militias didn't notice when Bush did it.

Gryphen, excellent post indeed. It's important for us to know about these loonies and who they are so law enforcement and non-loonies can keep them under observation.

Who do they think they're kidding? They don't seem to understand how government works, why we have government, or the benefits government can provide.

They just want an excuse to dress up, play our fantasies with weapons and convince themselves they are saviors. Gees, how adolescent - and dangerous.

I certainly don't want them protecting me and mine. We'd be safer without them.

Oh, and Gryphen, please don't listen to pleas to rush your investigations. I don't think you will; you strike me as a level-headed guy who is passionate about issues but uses that passion in an intelligent manner.

Though I can understand the sincere desire to get Palin off the national scene, I also believe that some of her trolls are hoping to get things rushed a bit so only part of the truth comes out or it comes out in an unpolished, undocumented way.

Take the time you need to do it right as I know you will. Just wanted to assure you many of us - though eager to see the end of Sarah's extended figurative 15 minutes of fame - understand what you are up against and how carefully you need to structure your exposes.

Thanks for caring so much to get it right the first time. She won't allow a second try.

Isn't that guy in the front center Schaeffer Cox, who battered his wife recently? I believe he choked and punched her (in front of their child) while they were driving from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Yep, that's a REAL man.

    Peace begins at home...

Yep, I just read up on Schaeffer Cox and his recent arrest for domestic violence.

I love the fancy footwork going on among his supporters in the different comment sections to implicitly forgive this guy's violent behavior. Oh, he shouldn't have done that but he's young and impulsive (he's 26.). He shouldn't have hit and choked his wife but she shouldn't have provoked him. He's done a lot of good for the movement (so we still like and respect him, even if he choked his wife in front of their kid).

As part of his sentence, he has to take a course in "alternatives to violence." Considering his militia connection, I find that hilarious.

Essentially, these chumps are Home Grown TERRORISTS.

They all need to be arrested.

These are NOT the clowns that need to sweep in, should a "power vacuum" ever actually happed ( a militia's wet dream come true ).

Wow, Alaska's very own Timothy McVeigh.
So let me understand this - in crisis situation/disaster in Alaska, these guys would take over government and run the show? Like in "Mad Max" or "Red Dawn"?

    Not.In.My.Alaska.

In case anyone's a little foggy, we've had a history of self-reliance and honorable citizen response during times of emergency. We take care of own and we do it well.
This boy has been in Alaska for 10 years. No little Nazi pissant from outstates is going to tell me what to do! Schaeffer, FYI, girls in Alaska have hunting rifles too. You've got the wrong state, buddy.

Juneau Daily News, May 15, 2005
Man lost on a hike in Sitka area rescued
The Coast Guard has been involved in the rescue of a hiker in the Sitka area.
...Juneau Command Center says they were notified yesterday Schaeffer Cox, 21, was hiking from Sitka to Baranof Warm Springs when he got lost.
He called the Coast Guard and reported he had lost his tent and some other gear and got wet and was starting to get hypothermic.
A helicopter was launched from Sitka with personnel with Sitka Mountain Rescue on board. They hiked up and reached Cox who was reported in good shape.
They spent the night and a Coast Guard helicopter picked up the party this morning.
A home town for Cox wasn't available.

He lost his tent on a hike? But he's LED Denali expeditions. I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that one...
We can check that, ya know...

This little man isn't half of what he says. Contractor license? High school diploma? Let's see it.
I think he mostly spends his time and earns his living doing the Sarah Palin thing - speaking engagements to militias in other states.

Palin is following the EXACT same game plan that Hitler used to take over Germany...the difference is of course is that she is a merely a pawn...i.e. NOT THE BRAINS behind the operation....but that does not mean that we should not take her and this as a very serious threat.

  21. Of course they are ridiculous and could never win against a army that has more toys and soldiers than they do. Obama has done nothing to restore our rights and certainly has done nothing about all the people wrongfully arrested in this country. He has done nothing to get competent and aggressive defense for indigents, nor has has stopped the torture in US prisons. He certainly has done little to stop the abuses committed by corporations against the citizens. Justice has not been restored, as evidenced by lack of prosecution for war crimes in our two tier justice system while regulare citizens receive harsh sentences. Why do you think this is?

Surely the Alaska Peacemakers Militia boast would be easy to test. What Militia was helping out during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans?

Oh, oh - "In Katrina's wake, white neighbourhood 'militia' murdered blacks"
    (Crooks and Liars website)

Yup. Taking the law into their own hands.

  26. Anyone who has not seen the old movie "Viva Max" should make a supreme effort to own it and show it to everyone they know. In it you will see the average American going rabid with fear depicting the neighborhood watches from WW2, the scared shitless Teabaggers and other raving, ranting citizenry raised in absolute fear of mythological beings from birth, in their fundamentalist, radical, bible thumping churches. The movie is hilarious and you will recognize all the characters as having clones in the present era.

Those who would truly "save" America don't advertise their weaponry or strut around in makeshift uniforms making idle threats and promises. (saber rattling) They don't need or want the publicity that these nutcase Palin types apparently crave but while the Palinistas and their weapons are being rounded up REAL AMERICANS and TRUE PATRIOTS will fight for the rights of everyone, not just the Palinators. Be assured we will not be running around making targets of ourselves and our families.

WOULD YOU GIVE AN IDIOT A LOADED GUN?

We already did and for eight long, deadly years for which most of us living today will not live long enough to see the damage undone.

It pains me to say I disagree with the post that says they are ridiculous. They are not. They are dangerous. Yes, they are scary.

They're wearing contemporary Nazi uniforms. They have insignia of some kind halfway back on collars. Someone needs to get a closer look. Letters and numbers are significant.

What's shocking to me is that this group's foundation is the Baptist church. Pastor Gary Cox runs the University Baptist Church in Fbnks, where they actually hold patriot resistance classes, organized and scheduled.
Then there's the missionary Les Zerbe. He runs his church stuff out of his home on Louise Lane (Fbnks) and affiliated with Texas churches - Central Missionary Clearinghouse and the Baptists in Garland, Texas. He loves Sarah Palin and uses smarmy language about President Obama. In print!

We hate fascism, communism, and sure we are a little racist in the way everyone is, but despite that, we believe in giving everyone a fair shake, and would gladly embrace a good man who may yet appear different than we do. Just stumbled onto this page. Seems pretty hateful. Especially considering that these guys appear to be talking about fighting and dying to protect the lives and liberty of the people of Alaska in the event of a disaster or in the event that the US government decides to further overstep the checks and balances that it already seems to ignore completely. News flash for those of you who don't see tyranny in the US government already...The federal government was never, legally allowed any powers accept for those specifically given it by the constitution. All other powers are reserved to the states and the people respectively. Think I'm making it up? Read the 10th amendment to THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND : The US Constitution. So, considering that these men are willing to lay their lives on the line to uphold the supreme law of the land, even if they have to face "the might of the greatest military on the planet" as the author of this illogical, hateful article points out...I'd say that makes at the very least their stated intentions honorable.
Also I'd like to point out two more things. 1.when the author of the article attacks the two photographs of these men, she says "Oooh, scary arent they" It seems counter intuitive that a group that would die to protect their fellow citizens would try to appear "scary" to those they shield. If anything I would describe their appearance as professional. Also Id like to point out the inaccuracy in the comment written by "Anonymous" when he says "They are wearing contemporary Nazi uniforms" Has anyone EVER seen a Nazi uniform with a black shirt and tan pants. If you are inaccurately referring to a black uniform shirt illustrating a link to the Nazi party then I think you should be concerned about city police and state troopers who also wear black uniform shirts. The author of this particular comment also goes on to say "He loves Sarah Palin and uses smarmy language against President Obama. In Print!" I find it humorous that the author of this comment seems to think that President Obama is above criticism and that using "smarmy language" against him is akin to blaspheming God or something.
I find the excessive use of corrupted logic and slanderous name calling used throughout this article and in the comments, a disgusting demonstration of the hateful nature and irrational thinking of the articles author and those who subscribe to her ideas.
I don't necessarily support this militia as I have little firsthand knowledge of them. My comments relating to them are almost purely based on this "article". - SGT. MICAH HENRY US ARMY.

I'd like to leave you with this...

Listen politics aside here and when things happened... and who cares about the color of a guy anyways? The important part here is that we don't fight each other... it's cute that you think "American" Soldiers would fight and kill their own. What are they here for? To protect us, the Peacemakers are not making an enemy of the Military just the monetary system that runs it. I love our Military guys, they'd defend my ass in a heartbeat if someone was trying to invade my hometown, but you know what? No one is invading, terrorists are only terrorists because we did something in their past to fuck with them. WE MADE AL-QUADA in the late 70's to fight the soviets! We need to stand together as men, not as Right or Left, Black or White, these terms are nothing more than to destroy our sense of society. WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS! WE MUST BE HUMAN AND STAND WITH ONE ANOTHER AND STOP FIGHTING EACH OTHER!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Okaay, so if you are less than impressed with the "quality" of the guys who decided to step up to defend what they think is your rights and their rights against the government, and provide what they think is some level of public service during disasters, then who? If they are not going to be sufficient to represent a true balance of power in this country then what? Maybe an official Ombudsman system like they have in European countries? those tend to actually NOT have access to any forceful options when the government is clearly wrong. What about free lawyers when someone has a grievance? We have public defenders filling that roles when there are criminal issues, and all you have to do is ask around about how well that works for most people.

I humbly submit that somehow some way, this country needs some sort of counterbalance to government power which has a force option, and so far, these are the only types of people who do step up. People quite often on the fringes of society anyway, people who have under whatever circumstances and sometimes through some fault of their own felt the heavy hand of government in their gut. That's what makes them one of the first lines of contact in these circumstances.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Perhaps you would rather have your rights defended by nobody else? Maybe you expect a guy in blue tights and a red cape to show up when you are falsely accused of a crime as a pretext for seizure of your property? Do you really support police beating people to death or shooting people with impunity?

I know the sovereign citizen movement whole belief system sounds nuttty as hell, because it is. Now for the bad news, it is not so loosely based on an entire culture of thought that permeates the Judicial branch of the US government, which in the realm of authority represents a constitutional third of the government, and their concept is "sovereign immunity". I am not even going to try to argue and explain how it works with them, you can look it up and see it for yourself. That's what has ticked these people off and caused them to come up with this whole thing.
