In response to Rand Paul's divisive statements Kentucky beefs up Civil rights legislation.

From Kentucky.com:

The Kentucky Senate, reacting to a divisive comment by Republican Rand Paul, has adopted a resolution declaring any form of discrimination to be inconsistent with American values.

Louisville Democratic Sen. Gerald Neal introduced the resolution Friday during a special session on the state budget. It was adopted without objection in the predominantly Republican chamber.

Neal, Kentucky's only black state senator, said he took personal offense at the comment made last week by Paul, a U.S. Senate candidate, who was criticizing the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Look Sarah was right!  A Teabagger CAN make a positive impact on this country.!

Not on purpose of course, but still.....

Hey, I am finally beginning to feel a little more hopeful in light of the dreaded Palin phenomenon. Hurrah.

Libertarians are a puzzling breed, there is much in their Gestalt that resonates with me, but Rand is an interesting case; a physician ( I work daily with them; MD = minor deity, they have an answer for everything and have a hard streak that THEY are always correct.) So he spouts half baked snippets, perfect for our insta news culture, but can the $P bumper sticker philosophy take him all the way? NOPE

According to the polls, Jack Conway is six points behind, but the voters of Ky. are going to send Paul back home.

I don't know. Am I crazy to want Rand to keep spouting his interesting and corrupt brand of nonsense while scaring even the current republican leadership? Uhhhhh . . . . . . . .

  7. From my Article: Is Rand Paul A Libertarian;
While reading about the Libertarian Party I found descriptions from Shangri La to that of Anarchy, and one or two sites that wanted to avoid the issues. We do see that the Tea Bagger Queen Sarah Palin and DR Rand Paul share the same point of view on abortion and gun rights.

  8. Thank the FSM that Kentucky politicians addressed this. Paul's interview on Rachel Maddow's show appalled me. Americans in the public eye typically do a better job at hiding their racism and intolerance.

I wonder if Dr. Paul accepts Medicare or Medicaid? Ya know, those government run health insurance companies?? Does he drive on those roads that tax payers paid for? Do his kids attend public schools? What would he think if a merchant of another race told his white ass to get out of their store because of his race?

    Uggggg.

  9. As a native of the Commonwealth, one whose relatives followed you-know-who through the Gap, I can only applaud this! Himself and I have not lived in KY in about 30 years, but our hearts are there. Good job!

Nice going, Sarah. You know how to use your considerable influence, don't you? Now go send another twitter to Gov. Jindal about how to save his "ravished coast". He's waiting for your advice.

Libertarians oppose "statism" in principle only. Otherwise, why would they keep trying to get elected? It's a rightwing political philosophy at heart, along the lines of Grover Norquist's "reducing govt enough to drown it in a bathtub" (paraphrasing here).

If people like Rand think businesses should serve only those they want to, well, perhaps they shouldn't even be in business to serve the public, which is everyone. What part of "public accommodations" in the Civil Rights Act don't they understand? Maybe people like Paul should just have in-home potlucks and private sales among themselves.

LMK...50% of Rand Paul's clients are Medicare/Medicaid. He doesn't like HCR, but he wants the government to keep its hands off his Medicaire reimbursements.

I am a libertarian by heart but realize that we are a civilization that needs to have cooperation and regulation to maintain our place in the modern world. We no longer are the "WILD WEST". Also I would never believe that anyone who wanted to have a store or place of business had the right to sell or hire anyone who they wanted. Not only is is morally wrong, imagine the chaos and lack of civilization it would bring to our highly complex civilization. They think it would make them feel good to be able to do what they want but it would result in anarchy and the downfall of our great country. We must maintain our march toward more inclusion and tolerance not less.

I wonder just how the anti-incumbent mood is going now that people in Kentucky realize the replacement can be infinitely worse than what is being replaced? The more Rand Paul runs off at the mouth, the more unintended consequences he produces. I'm quite sure he didn't anticipate the action of the Kentucky politicians that will ensure he can't interfere with the civil rights of the citizens there.

  16. Scientist say that a headless cockroach will survive about 10 days.

Kentucky might have found an exception to that rule in Rand Paul.
