Lisa Murkowski's attempt to muzzle the EPA gets shot down in the Senate 53-47.

According to McClatchy:

The Senate Thursday defeated 53-47 an effort to limit the Environmental Protection Agency's authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, and President Barack Obama said the vote was a reminder of the need to pass more comprehensive climate change legislation.

Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski's measure was backed by six Democrats and all 41 Republicans. Had Congress passed it, the White House said earlier this week that Obama would have vetoed it anyway, adding that the proposal would undermine efforts to promote alternatives to fossil fuels, especially as a broken BP well continues to spew as much as 50,000 barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico every day.

Murkowski's proposal "would have increased our dependence on oil by blocking efforts to cut the harmful pollution that contributes to climate change," Obama said in a statement.

"The Senate chose to move America forward, towards that clean energy economy — not backward to the same failed policies."

Congratulations Lisa Murkowski on being almost as big of an embarrassment to Alaskans as Sarah Palin!

    Completely OT here --
But AlaskaWTF is now offline. There's only the cached posts and there was something titled "Levi Johnston Banging Bristol Palin again"... which was removed almost instantly (but still showing right now on the feed.)

    WTF?? Weird....

I've watched Lisa Murkowski since her years in the State Legislature, and used to actually give her points for being so much smarter than her father. These days, I see that just makes her even more dangerous than he was. Her rabid, illogical anti-environment stances just show how deep she really is in the pockets of the oil companies. She has absolutely no shame.

We have three embarrassments that are standouts from Alaska - Don Young, Lisa Murkowski and Sarah Palin. Plus, corruption that seems to abound within our government...things proven not to be factual, etc. (Parnel and others currently sitting in jail) Voters need to pay closer attention at the poles....perhaps moving back to being 'blue' is the answer!!!

  8. I cannot vouch one way or the other.

They have been a little vulgar, but often reliable. As for the rumor about Levi well I don't have enough information to comment on that.

Branch sure hasn't fallen far from the tree on this one!!! Her father, Frank, who it turns out was one of the biggest political hacks and FELONY thieves in the state. Corrupt as the day is long... But I digress..

Looks like his daughter, sometimes Swag-Hag liked and sometimes not based on what bowl of Cheerios the Swag-Hag had that morning, is bought and paid for by the BIGGEST POLLUTERS on earth... They lined her pocket with bribe money and now the congress has told her to pound sand with her dumb-ass legislation.. Hey Lisa, the SUPREME COURT TOLD THE EPA TO DO THIS.... GOT IT?? Go look it up or have one of your servants do it..
