Submerged oil at Bon Secour shoreline |
I cannot get over how calm this reporter's voice remains while he describes such terrible devastation.
As you can see in this video the plumes of oil are forcing thousands of fish closer to shore in search of oxygen and caking everything it touches in a thick coating of oil that will eventually suffocate and kill the sea life it comes into contact with.
When BP used the dispersant they had to have known that the oil would not really disappear, but simply break apart and kill creatures deeper underwater and out of sight of the news cameras and public scrutiny.
Oh I think they knew alright, they simply did not care.
You can read the article that accompanied the video here.
Didn't BP produce and sell those same dispersants?
ReplyDeleteI agree, Gryphen, BP doesn't care. It is all about the money and, in a sense, vengeance against those who would dare call them on their wrongdoing and lies -- gees, sounds like Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI believe in karmic lessons. I see this same theme (greed, self-absorption, vengeance)in so many situations these days. Perhaps, if we as a country start holding people accountable and stop idolizing people like Sarah and Big Oil, we will finally master the lessons and have to have beaten into us.
Out of sight out of mind. If all the oil that has been puked out were sitting on the surface, it would be a different tune being sung by everyday folks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a chocolate mess.

This may be a confoundedly naive and fiscally / technologically impossible question, but I wonder if there is a way that we can oxygenate the shallows for this displaced sea life?
ReplyDeleteJust when you think you've seen it all --
ReplyDeleteWhat have we done to this planet?
Their only concern is themselves, they've made that abundantly clear.
ReplyDeleteThey not only knew, they profitted from it's use.
ReplyDeleteAnd they continued to use it even after the Gov. told them to "please" stop.
I think that every manager who was involved in the decision making process from the time that testing on the well was "done" to each and every action that was taken since then, should be held financially and criminally liable.

This is a company that has worked for 80 years in water treatment.
As I watched some newly cleaned and liberated pelicans being released back into the wild this morning on TV, I wondered. . .now what will be left for them to eat?
