There is no way that Jon Stewart could ignore Alvin Greene winning the nomination in South Carolina.
I have liked jon Stewart for years, admiring his intellectual grasp and skewering of the political world, but he swings and misses on this issue, blaming voters for giving Mr. Greene 60% support.
The much greater issue appears to me to be the integrity of the voting system itself.
If the voting system has been successfully tampered with, it demonstrates a threat that is much larger than the prospect of one unqualified Senator running for office!!!
I love Jon Stewart, but I got angry at last night's segment. He slammed the Dems for blaming the Repubs planting Greene, but didn't bring up at all the possibility of vote machine tampering, which is what I'm leaning towards as the explanation...and who would be behind that? Republicans.....
Having read The Brad Blog, voting machine tampering is where I'd be looking! Until there is a way of verifying the vote, elections results can be tampered with.
I'm afraid Jon Stewart isn't aware that SC is an open primary state. No, you can't vote in both. But you can be a republican and vote in the democratic primary. And if you know your candidate is in absolutely no danger of losing his primary, you can vote for the weaker democratic candidate and throw the whole thing off. Which is probably exactly what happened.
I live in this god-forsaken political cluster. And no one, NO ONE, I know had ever heard of Greene before he won. No posters, no phone calls, no website, nothing.
I love Jon Stewart, but he's got it wrong here. He may not be aware of open primaries in our state--I hope that's the case. Otherwise he sounds really naive.

Stewart neglects to mention this at all.
