Andrew Sullivan is absolutely correct when he says that the story of Trig's birth matters, and more and more people are starting to agree with him.

Sullivan has recently waded back in to the questions concerning the birth of Sarah Palin's magical baby Trig Paxson Van Palin.

His first post was on Monday. And he repeatedly addressed the issue all throughout the week.

This of course drew some media attention, most of it dismissive, and some of it downright insulting.

Here is one example from somebody who proffers a point of view that I have come to absolutely despise.

The persistence of questions about Trig helps Sarah Palin. All along, she has savvily used the notion that the media is treating her unfairly to enhance her popularity. An amoral political strategist would advise her to keep hard evidence of Trig’s maternity hidden at all costs in the hope that critics would continue questioning it — if Professor Bernstein and I, both of us huge Sarah Palin critics, doubt the merits of this line of inquiry, imagine how the average American reacts to it, and how the Sarah Palin base reacts. For better or worse, we live in a country where the politics of umbrage are very effective, and Ms. Palin is expert at them. Indeed I fear that speculation about Trig’s maternity increases the chance that she’ll win the 2012 GOP nomination. If a savvy political analyst can be found who disagrees with that assessment, I’d be surprised.

Okay well I do not necessarily consider myself a "savvy political analyst" but prepare to be surprised you nitwit!

I have heard this same argument repeated numerous times.

"Gryphen by talking about the baby conspiracy you are helping her gain support."

"Gryphen she loves having the Trig Truthers out there, because it makes her look like the victim."

"Gryphen if you would drop that story you would finally get accepted as a contributor for the Huffington Post."

I have heard it all before.  And it is BULLSHIT!

I live here.  I talk to people.  I KNOW that the conversation about this story has changed people's minds about Sarah Palin.  I cannot tell you how many times I have heard some version of the following:

"Well at first I just thought that people were being mean to Sarah by asking about her precious baby.  But now that I have seen how she treats him, and seen the pictures taken during her "pregnancy", and started to think about it more, her version just does NOT make any damn sense!"

And THIS is from people living in Alaska!  Some who are even living in Wasilla!

And that is not all.  There are people in other parts of the country who are also starting to wake up and realize how important it is to get to the bottom of this story.

Like this surgeon in Ohio:

I'm sorry, but I just cannot resist any longer. The fantastical, magical realism surrounding the events of the birth of Sarah Palin's 5th child Trig just have to be reviewed. (Come on, there's a medical slant to the topic, right???)

The more we ask the questions the more people start to think.  The more they think, the more they come to realize that there is something dreadfully wrong with this woman.  Asking the questions certainly does NOT help her to move closer to the White House.  Far from it!

By the way WHY do you think people are told to stay away from me?  Why do you think that when the Palin-bots want to smear somebody they immediately link them to me in some way?  Because I am wrong?

You know it would be great to be taken seriously as an investigative journalist, and it would be an honor if I was invited to contribute to the Huffington Post. But at what cost?

If I have to turn away from the search for the truth in order to gain acceptance, than the price is simply too high. How would I deserve respect if I stopped working to reveal the biggest scandal in political history? And how could I respect any organization, or friend, who would ask me to do that?

No, I am just going to keep plugging away. And by the way you might be surprised to learn just who comes calling on Uncle Gryphen these days. They might not want to have their names revealed just yet, but when this story breaks they will be right here to help it to get the national coverage that it deserves.

And I will make sure that the first person to get the inside scoop will be the incredibly brave and dedicated Andrew Sullivan. After all, HE did not let the naysayers and Palin apologists convince him to turn his back on this important story either.

Quite concur Gryphen. The story is gaining more notice, and definitely the many lies told since the election have helped the doubt. Before people just couldn't believe that someone in the spotlight would blatantly lie. Then one after another after another after another. Ha ha, the 3 month old remembering her dad's bowling nights probably is the cherry on top. Today. Tomorrow, there will be another.

  6. From a scene in my favourite movie "Shawshank Redemption": as the corrupt Warden of Shawshank hears the police sirens coming to take him away to prison for all that he has done, his eyes catch a glimpse of the framed cross stitch by his wife hanging on the wall that says - "His Judgement cometh, and that right soon."

May we all live to see the righteous judgement of GOD on the lies of this woman.

Keep fighting the good fight, Gryphen!

Gryphen, f**k HuffPo. Today I deleted it from my daily rounds. Sensational headlines with no substance following, constant bashing of Obama, running with anything Palin just for the clicks and comments. Don't need 'em. If that's your goal, close up shop. You're doing fine as you are. I do wish you were less self-referential about everything that happens. While you contribute hugely, you're not the linchpin.

You are so right! Palin is once again her own worst enemy. If she would have just kept her mouth shut, she could have gotten away with it all.

But her insane hatred of Obama, the desire to avenge herself for the loss of 2008 and her insatiable ego will be her downfall. I really really hope the truth comes out. I know for the die-hard Palin supporters it will all be a lie but I don't care. As long as the truth comes out - there is no way she can get anywhere near the WH. At least we can take comfort in that.

  10. You're doing the job that those esteemed "journalists" don't have the guts to do. Keep it up. The main stream media is losing their audience and by forfeiting their credibility they will end up becoming extinct even faster. I am actually outraged by the absolute unquestioning acceptance of even the most outrageous lies by people who are supposed to be the minders of truth for the public. It's criminal. We need to demand the truth loudly. Sarah Palin is a fascist in fembot clothing, and pretending otherwise is dangerously stupid.

What I don't understand is why the people closest to the story all back it up. You can't tell me that one close person to her wouldn't go on the record claiming it's not true. Mercede's believes she had the baby. Sherry may have questions, but I haven't seen her go on the record saying she doesn't believe it. As soon as you can quote someone close to the scene in Alaska as doubting it I will give it more credibility, but so far it's been 2 years and no one has been able to challenge the fact that was around her on a daily basis.

No one from the governor's office has come forward. Even Anne who wrote the long letter has stated Sarah gave birth to Trig. For the person who yesterday commented about finding her driver in New Orleans, that would be impossible, because she was unknown at that time. The driver wouldn't remember taking someone to Walgreens who wasn't famous at the time. Also, I've been to New Orleans multiple times and there are a few Walgreens within walking distance of the major hotels along Canal and in the quarter.

G, I would tread lightly. I highly doubt Sarah did not just RANDOMLY decide, "Hey I need to broaden my base. Let me fake a pregnancy starting in Jan with a down syndrome baby." Something appears to have happened after Christmas. Something happened in March 08. April 18th was a big date. There are so many people behind this, and sooo many onlookers, youd think someone would've let something slip already.

I've told the "wild ride" story to the women at my church exactly in chronological order starting from the pregnancy check in NO and every woman who has heard the story (no spin added) has doubts about $Paylin's pregnancy & story. Once I add the criminal acts of offspring #1 & #3, and how they were not charged with their crimes, her creds go out the window. We understand that the teenage pregnancy thing is rampant in AK. I'll leave that one alone.

  18. Anonymous 8:21, usually I would dismiss your comments as coming from a troll, but let me take moment to explain something.

Do not think that people who have knowledge have not spoken, they have. The key here is "on the record".

You have seen the incredible backlash that comes when somebody dares to question Queen Esther, well they are saving their most vicious attacks for whoever dares to say they know she did not give birth to Trig.

But do not think for a second that such a statement has not been made. It has.

But until we can get enough people who know the details to come forward, or can get our hands on a document or two, we cannot expect a single person, or even two, to risk their careers, reputation, and even friendships by speaking on the record about this issue.

You have no idea how hard I have tried.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ratfish8:38 AM

While I do not necessarily subscribe to the Trig birth mother controversy, there are certainly legitimate questions about the birth itself- which occurred of course after Palin knew that a special needs baby like hers might very well require critical medical care right away

Nonetheless after her water broke in Texas- she engaged in completely reckless behavior: gave her speech, travelled from Texas to Seattle- had a layover in Seattle- flew from Seattle to Anchorage and then drove to Palmer- bypassing world-class neonatal ICU units in Texas and Seattle (if not Anchorage as well).

She has never given an honest account of this and probably never will. Many people, including numerous medical professionals, believe that her decision to travel instead of going to the nearest hospital put her baby's life at risk.

And many believe that was exactly the purpose of her action.

    You betcha.

    ReplyDelete
  20. phoebes-in-santa fe8:50 AM

    Couple of things.

It's a hard idea to wrap your mind around. That someone would fake a pregnancy and birth. Oh, I know, there are women who steal babies from hospitals and who kill real pregnant women to take their babies, but those women are so, so...nuts. Palin, for all her idiocy and nastiness, doesn't seem to fall into that category. (Or didn't when she burst on the scene as McCain's running mate. I think the jury's out now).

The main reason that I've questioned "Trig birthers" story all along is that Palin doesn't seem to be the kind of person who thinks ahead. I mean, past tomorrow or her next $100,000 rambling speech. And to put together a plot that involves faking a pregnancy and then coming up with at least one, and maybe two, babies just because she MIGHT be under consideration by John McCain as a running mate eight months later, is a little far-fetched. If she DIDN'T get the nomination, she'd be stuck with a Downs baby, and I don't see Miss Sarah as a particularly motherly type who'd take on a disabled child. (She's scarcely interested in the four children she already had.)

So I'm still conflicted over the whole tale. On one hand, I can't see her as smart/dumb enough to come up with this plan and on the other...she's Sarah Palin, a very bad person.

As a woman who's been pregnant and given birth twice, I know that you get your pregnant little butt to the nearest hospital when your water breaks, or dribbles, or you go into labor. You don't idle around on two four hour flights, plus spend quiet time at the airport in between flights. Curiously, the MAIN thing that has made me lean toward the story being true is the fact that on four Alaska Airlines flights, Palin was not noticed as being pregnant. I assume she was upgraded on all flights to First, where I know from personal experience the flight attendants really DO pay attention to the fortunate passengers. As a frequent flier - though not on Alaska Airways - and former travel agent, I know how paranoid the airlines are to potential liability issues, which letting an eight-month pregnant woman fly on four flights would certainly be.

So, I'm just sorta waiting for the next chapter in this sordid-saga. I know I won't be disappointed!

And also don't forget Palin has never admitted that she was pregnant when she and Todd "eloped."

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/us/politics/02palin.html?hp

And then of course there are her parents- married in a Catholic church in Idaho in the summer, and having their first born months "early."

So we have 3 generations of "knocked up"- and then Palin and daughter hypocritically preach abstinence for the rest of us.

Someday maybe she will be asked in public: "Were you pregnant when you got married? Why did you concoct the story about eloping to save money?"

Just the wild ride alone should convince people. She gets more press than just about anybody, and still says she is the victim. Getting Andrew Sullivan to write about it, is really a good thing. Alaska Dispatch had a blip about it, it was a dismissive blip, but a blip anyway. Maybe this was the only way they could get a way with printing anything about Tri-g. Just the name she gave the baby should put red flags up. It's like she was naming a puppy. If she would have had a baby girl with one leg, would she have named her Ilene, or if she had a baby with no arms or legs would she have called him Matt? Just sayin' also, too, and in addition.

"The persistence of questions about Trig helps Sarah Palin. All along, she has savvily used the notion that the media is treating her unfairly to enhance her popularity. "

That is such BS. No one can tell me that Palin likes or encourages this persistent questioning of her very questionable story. I think the Trig story is the #1 reason Palin is so paranoid about bloggers. My personal opinion is that she hate, hate, hates that they won't lay off the story. And she knows that it is just a matter of time before the MSM finally pays attention and demands some accountability.
Palin has demonstrated over and over again that she has no substance, no solutions, no intellectual curiosity, no compassion, no humanity and no scruples. This is exactly the kind of person who would fake a pregnancy to further her naked ambition. She has nothing to gain by not providing proof that Trig is her biological son, nothing at all. The very worst thing for Sarah Palin, no matter what her future ambitions are, is to have this story just keep hanging around with more and more people looking at it from a fresh perspective and rethinking it.
I absolutely believe that if Palin were the biological mother of Trig she would offer proof. I think that is why that one and only weird picture of a very pregnant Sarah Palin surfaced out of nowhere. I think she was trying to get ‘proof’ out there. And sadly that was the best she could come up with.
The credibility she would gain and the ammo she would be able fire at her 'naysayers' is much more valuable to her than scoring some questionable points with the die-hard base by being able to rail at the 'lame-stream' media. Also, it would really benefit Palin to just have this story die. The more the story is out there, the more rational clear-thinking people realize how absolutely ridiculous it is.
But then again, I also don't think Palin has any plans to run for public office. I think Palin's whole plan is to make as much money as humanly possible in the fastest time possible as she knows very well that she is sitting on a ticking time bomb (or maybe several) that will destroy her when it goes off.

  27. Adding my support for all that you and Andrew and others do to keep working on getting the truth out once and for all.

Wishful thinking - but...wouldn't it be nice if you could be the go between for someone who knows the truth (with documentated evidence so it's not just someone's word against Sarah's) and a news worthy source willing to help the person relocate and pay them a handsome sum to get settled in so the person could be safe - and once and for all the truth could come out. Of course, unless it was a secure deal like witness protection - no where in the U.S.A. would probably be totally safe.

Some day the truth will come out - I have to believe that, otherwise the whole thing drives to be to the brink of insanity

I have a sinking feeling on how Palin is going to trump the final unveiling of Trigger truth.

Sarah is going to pull a Frank Bailey on us but in a less formal press conference way: in one of her right-to-life Momma Grizzly six-figure speeches, she's going to admit to having adopted Trig for his precious insight and perfection to add to her life.

They are going roar their approval in a standing ovation and the Palin lovers will scream from the rooftops that this is a woman who is better than one who conceived and bore a DS child, she CHOSE it! She will walk on water and those that try and point out how this was a manipulative, orchestrated narrative to secure an enormously influential political position without earning it.

It is Sarah all over, her truth is the truth and is accepted by her believers as such.

Oh, she'll lose a good percentage of her followers because you can't excuse the fraud, but she'll always have a strong defending segment of the population on her side.

She is dangerous. She always will be even if she is no political threat other than in endorsements and fund raising.

Anybody else you can think of who has come forward to say they know SP was pregs? From the many encounters she would have had with people in and out of the gov's offices? Why were the people in the offices so disbelieving when she announced, and have never come forward to say they later were sure she was pregs??? Because she wasn't.

As one whose life has been physically threatened by a sociopath similar to Palin, I can say that: if friendships are lost, it is a favor--they weren't "friends" you'd want anyway, if reputation is hurt, it will only be temporary because the admiration for the courage it takes to expose Palin is of national import, if a job is threatened, I'll bet three would be offered in its place for having saved America from any more torment from this aberration. This may be the last wave of opportunity to get national exposure.

Hoaxers, con artists play the game well. That is, do the most unbelievable thing, and when it starts to look suspicious and people question, the hoaxers pull out the "I'm being persecuted cause I'm pretty, cause I'm rich, cause I'm a christian, cause they're jealous, cause I am a qualified candidate, cause I'm on a mission from God" card.

She's got all the angles covered with the persecution complex victim routine.

Now, it's up to folks to decide if they want to sweep the very strange birth story under a rug, or responsibly look at the facts and ask themselves why SP didn't just accept her VP nomination on her merits. I believe most revere not so much because she says she didn't have an abortion, but because they're proud of the way she looks and want her to be their leader.

And, they don't care that hundreds, thousands of women have carried to full-term babies with all sorts of deformities, disabilities, with the same principles and sometimes with a lot less tools (money, support, health care) to work with. They don't care about those women who struggle everyday and are told by Sarah, "Death panels!!!"

She is playing her sainthood as mother of all disabled, mother of right-to-life into a scheme to get into the white house. That's all it is.

It's not about the abortion issue anyway. The paliners need a Queen, like the Hebrews wanted a King, and chose Saul, even though the prophet told them they should wait for young David. They wouldn't hear, they went nananananannanana with their fingers in their ears, their insistence brought them a paranoid unscrupulous King.

I really hope story picks up speed for the sake of all who have possibly been lied to.

Conor Fiedersdorf (your link above who opines against Sullivan)ironically gives the best reason why the true story of Trig should matter. He states: "An amoral political strategist would advise her to keep hard evidence of Trig's maternity hidden at all costs in the hopes that critics would continue to question it"

Yes. That's exactly what appears to be happening with Palin and her VERY questionable story about her fifth child's birth. Why else would she not put to rest the questions? She could. Easily.

Two obvious possible conclusions are that she is indeed hiding something damaging to her reputation OR she's just an amoral fame/influence/wealth whore, using her child as part of the strategy.

Both of these possible conclusions MATTER if she has any illusions for running for political office again.

Something stinks badly about this woman and her stories. Keep up the great work, Gryphen and Andrew, for the sake of the soul of our great country.

None of the complexity surrounding the concept of Palin "planing" the fake pregnancy in advance can be dismissed once you realize that Karl Rove et al have been carefully guiding Sarah's rise to power on the national scene and MANY hands and powerful people have been backing her - and no doubt, DIRECTING her from time to time.

I don't think the fake baby scenario was entirely Sarah's doing. I think she went to her 'people" and told them Bristol was pregnant and THEY helped her craft some lies to claim the baby as hers. She's scatter-brained and ADD so she only executed the plan in her usual half-assed way. That's why there are so many obvious holes in it. And her "people" have done massive media damage control, even threatening reporters' lives if they dare to investigate the shaky and implausible Trig story, if they come forward. The same thing happened on the OPPOSITE side of the fence (with the Dems) during the John Edwards affair story. That one was very deeply "buried" until it was clear he wasn't going to get the Dem nomination and then the National Enquirer was "allowed" to run with this story.

I'm a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist and I KNOW how these things work. Fortunately, my bosses are all going bankrupt due to their long, horrid history of pulling this garbage on the American people.

Please read a book called Into the Buzzsaw to see how many mainstream, highly accredited and awarded journalists have lost their career, had death threats, attempts on their lives, and burglaries when they have attempted to report on topics the government and/or military have deemed "no go" to cover. Many of these journalists lost their careers. Many had to move overseas to continue their work.

And don't forget back when Connie Chung and Dan Rather were cohosting the evening news, Connie was once asked, "Where do you get your news? How do you decide what to cover?" on camera and she said, "We report what Washington tells us to cover.' This was back in 1996 or so, I believe. From that moment forward, Connie was blacklisted. She almost immediately lost her position as co-anchor and had a hell of a time gaining any traction in the mainstream media again. She spoke the truth, and most people didn't even REALIZE the impact of what she was telling them - yet the powers that be pulled the plug on this talented lady's entire career.

    This stuff is real, folks.

    Gryphen,

I appreciate your follow up to my 8:20 comments. What I still do not understand though is what person would fear risking their career when if they could prove this it would be worth MILLIONS of dollars to the news/tabloid organization that broke the story.

I'm fairly positive that most people in Alaska don't make this much money and SP could only be buying so many people's silence. She may have made 12 million plus, but that's not enough to buy everyone's silence. Why would someone not sell this story if they could? Even a nurse violating HIPPA could make enough to offset the backlash.

Gov.Rick Perry offered Palin a private jet to take her and Todd back to Alaska. She refused, instead taking two very long airline flights with a long stopover in Seattle. How many hours would she have saved if she had accepted the offer of a private jet and a direct flight?

Can anyone explain why a woman who had had miscarriages, was carrying a third trimester, high risk baby, and was in labor would choose that flight itinerary over a private jet ? Think about the possibility of a midair delivery that could be life threatening to both mother and child, embarassing and painful. The plane might have to make an emergency landing, possibly in Canada.

Perry offered to have his security detail take her to the nearest hospital, Baylor Medical Center which has a state of the art neo-natal ICU so that she could be seen by a doctor. BMC only 2 miles from the Gaylord Texan Resort.
She declined that offer as well. None of this makes sense.

There is a video from earlier this year when Palin was in Texas at a campaign event for Perry. I think it was in Houston. When Perry starts to tell the story about her having to leave the conference early because she was having the baby, Palin looks very nervous.

I think you're looking at this from the wrong angle. IMO, it's not about intelligence or long term political plans. Remember when Palin was supposed to be preparing for the VP debate, and all she could focus on was what the Alaskan blogs were saying about her? At that time and prior to that, she was vastly invested in her perceived image and popularity in her own state.

I think it really came down to her reputation as a "moral" Christian politician in Alaska. If her daughter did indeed get preggers while Palin was governor, Palin (superficial hypocrite that she is), would have been more concerned about protecting her and her family's "Christian" reputation and avoiding embarrassment than admitting the truth.

Whether or not we know for certain if Palin is the birth mother of Trig, we sure as hell do know (after two years of non-stop Palin) that she's an accomplished liar and religious hypocrite of the first order. Both of those two traits would offer more than enough incentive and skill to try to cover up the public embarrassment of her teenage daughter's out-of-wedlock pregnancy. After that decison was made, she could obviously exploit her situation politically in any way the wind blew in the future.

I feel it may just be possible that the wild ride did happen, that she dieted and bandaged and wore girdles trying to hide hr pregnancy until she could not,all the while taking chances with the fetus' life."She has commented that she "put it in Gods hands".All of this may just have ended in her doing her best to have a Fundie Abortion at Gods hand, even to the very end.

    @ phoebes-in-santa fe:

I agree that palin doesn't seem like someone who plans ahead. that's what leads me to believe she was REACTING to something - like her daughter being pregnant.

I still say the original plan was the one that so many people in that situation use - adoption. but then trig was born early, and the downs syndrome pretty much made the adoption fall through. plan b - sarah fakes the pregnancy and calls him hers, because frankly she would have had to foot the entire financial bill for him anyway, given that bristol has no job and no skills, it all would have fallen to her parents to financially provide for the kid.

    that's always been my theory.

These comments don't take into account the photographs of Ruffles in the kitchen. The Gusty photo shows a woman with such a developed pregnancy that no airline could fail to notice it. No scarves (such as worn in Texas) would conceal it. Ruffles (either a premie child of Levi and Bristol or a CBJ-arranged adoption) shows FAS damage. The Down Syndrome Round Ear was another adoption, shown for the first time at the RNC, I believe.

    Phoebe,
So you are saying Bristol was the mom, had the baby early, then became pregnant again and then Tripp was born later than we were told? I get so confused about the timeline in this scenario.

I have always thought Palin really did not want Trig and then pretty much avoided proper medical care and gave birth to a premature, stressed, poorly nourished Down's baby. What she really attempted to do was have a fundy abortion. It is incredible to imagine and cynical beyond belief, but I think her behavior toward Trig's out of utero care reflects the poor in utero care he received. Taking him to work three days postpartum was just more of the same. As to her political cred, Sarah was in a win win situation, if he died she looked holy than thou and if he lived she looked holier than thou.

And, she also doesn't appear truly loving toward him in the least. I have a Down's syndrome niece and my sister would never have put her daughter in such a situation. But, unlike Sarah, my sister is a loving mom and took care of her baby in pregnancy and since birth. Incredibly well!

As a father of two children who were high risk due to my age and their mother's, I am totally baffled by the actions of the Palins, their doctors, and their support team. The request for privacy stopped when Palin labeled herself pro life and used her baby like a piece of jewelry. Every step of the way, it appeared that Palin chose to put the baby in danger rather than protect it. If she is pro life, why was the speech more important than medical attention for the broken water sac. She chose to leave the baby without amniotic fluid for half a day. All of her actions were the opposite of what a normal caring parent would do. This is a huge issue, because it appears that she was trying to abort the fetus or at least suffocate it. The doctor who delivered the baby should be investigated for attempted murder, if she advised Palin to fly home. All of her enablers should be investigated for negligence.

I applaud you for your diligence in the Trig birth story and all the other things Palin.
After living in a Rural interior village for many years one where the Palins have connections, family members with recreational properties and many close friends of the Palins, even one of her appointed commissioners has a property there. ( I know really long run on sentence)
I can tell you that there are people that would put them selves way on the line for Sarah and Todd it is a very surreal kind of hero worship. But it is bigger then that most, of the people have benefited or been rewarded financially from there continued support of her. I know one family in particular that is just blatant in there support of her and do verge on almost violent behavior if you so much as say something that they consider a slight to any of the Palins. Some of these people are of the most devious I have ever known. The kind of people who sit in judgment of everyone else, but see nothing wrong with there underhanded dealings or bad behavior.
When I moved to the Valley, I must admit I was shocked at the extent of the Palin worship. People who dislike or disapprove of Palin keep there mouths shut for fear of retribution or even keeping there jobs or continuing to have a relationship with there church.

  58. Anonymous12:23 PM

I have been reading about this story ever since Audrey began her blog. The Wild Ride story makes no sense; it shows at the very least that Sarah was willing to risk delivering a baby in the middle of an airplane flight, at personal risk to herself and the other passengers. No woman whose water breaks is told by a doctor to travel 12 hours to a small town hospital. The answer always is to go to the nearest emergency room.

People in my family wonder why no one in Alaska will speak out. If there is actual proof that Sarah is not Trig's birth mother, they could make a fortune selling the story to National Enquirer, or any other publication. It is hard to believe that Sarah still maintains a political stronghold over Alaskans, as her speeches are tanking, her unfavorable ratings go up and she is a punchline for late night jokes. For a hot story that supplies the truth about Trig's birth, I imagine that a major publication might even find a way to protect their source. (If Sarah sues, the first thing I would request is for all of the Palins + Levi, to take a DNA test. She has had too much time to fake a birth certificate by now).

I am going to go out on a limb, regarding the Audacity of Sarah. I think that she has been lying and faking her way through life, much longer than people know about or admit. Not one professor remembers her from any of the five schools she attended. We have not heard from one student who remembers her from class. By now, anyone can buy a fake diploma, but we really do not have any proof that she received a college degree, let alone in journalism. Her inability to speak in complete sentences suggests that she may have attended five schools, and graduated from none of them.

I cannot imagine any town that would be proud of a mayor who needed to hire a city manager and ran the place into millions of dollars of debt. She has become a master at playing the victim as her cover for committing ethics violations, charging the state for her kids' travel, and probably much more that they haven't caught up with. The longer than Sarah has been able to get away with her deceptions, the more bold she has become. And, finally, her stories are beginning to contradict each other.

Note to the people in Alaska who are able to prove the story of Trig's birth: You can make more selling that proof and story than you can for the next five years. That story is so hot, that you could demand absolute secrecy from whomever publishes it. What the heck, go for two or three million!

There are more frightening things in the world and our country's history than who birthed who and whos raising who

Perhaps worse is the way that she lies on video or in print then bluffs her way through the lies not caring that people know she's a liar. That has opened the door for an unending stream of politicians who do the same thing. It's like they say to themselves "she gets away with it, I can do the same thing". Where is Trig now? With SP's busy schedule, who takes care of him? How about an expose about this as well-- she doesn't mother him-- it's more like "rent-a-baby." Her whole claim to fame is that she is his mother-- but she doesn't mother him unless the cameras are close by.

This is not so much Palin's personal scandal as it is a potentially huge political scandal, planned and carried out at high levels. ( BTW, great post -Anon 10:08!)

As a prelude to considering the origins of Tri-G, it is helpful to go back to Jane Meyer's article in the New Yorker describing how Palin was groomed for a possible VP post by GOP/neocon/fundie operatives and journalists back in the summer of 2007.

Interestingly, Palin revealed her "pregnancy" -- to the amazement of her staff, family, and fellow Alaskans -- on the very day that McCain locked up the GOP nomination and was in need of a running mate to energize the fundamentalist base.

Yes, Palin and her family do have an unusually sordid personal life, but I believe, in this case, she was largely following instructions, and she was being helped by powerful people with powerful agendas.

Someone, months ago, wrote here that we should think about Palin's personal family stories as part of a three ring circus, distracting onlookers from the more important high-wire act above. I would like journalists to focus on the high-wire act.

And, while doing so, keep in mind this one puzzling detail of the Palin personal drama: the many (seemingly quite different) Tri-Gs that have appeared in photographs with Palin before and throughout her campaign.

Who was/is the ruffled-ear baby, for example? Where did all these different Tri-Gs come from?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous3:17 PM

"Indeed I fear that speculation about Trig’s maternity increases the chance that she’ll win the 2012 GOP nomination."

I posted a couple of days ago in responst to the Dish’s first article suggenstin 3 scenarions for TriG’s birth

I suggested a fourth. That Sarah did have an abortion.

The point that I want to emphasis today is something other than that I think the amniocentesis story shows Sarah did have an abortion. Though I still think it does just that.

Consider: Amniocentesis is an invasive procedure and can only be performed with a physician’s order. Orders must be documented with the physicians signature, carried by the patient to the collection site, or faxed, but there has to be a document showing the patient/date of birth date and other id information, the test ordered, and the physician’s signature.
    So:
If Sarah sneaked into the Anchorage center using her maiden name and matching driver’s license, did she doctor hunt first using her maiden name to get a physician’s order under a false id? Or did she get her personal physician to write an order for the test using a false id for Sarah Heath?
The second option would be unethical and I can’t see a physician doing it.
If she doctor hunted, eventually she would have to get the test results into her OB’s records under her legal name, so subterfuge would have been pointless.
    So:
    Once having had the amniocentesis under her false id, there would be no way to get that information into her medical records under her married name without either altering the document with the results, if she hand carried them, or without the physician accepting improperly id’s medical test reports, or go hunt another physician and start a new account as Sarah Heath. That would be a serious medical ethics breach for any physician that knew that id was false;
Or a considerable wrangle between the clinic where the amnio was performed, the lab that ran the genetic test under the false ed, the physician she shopped for to use the false id with to get the test ordered, and her personal physician, - in order to properly document (yes a paper trail) the altering of the id information so that it could go into the medical record of Sarah Palin.

(I work in a hospital lab, this kind of merry mixup happens fairly frequently with neonates whose mother may enter the hospital under one name, that name is then used to identify specimen collected from the mother and the neonate. Then mom gets married, changes her name and wants the baby’s name changed. All sorts of bad things follow if that is not done properly and it is a major pain. Specimen are collected under one name but results are to be reported out under a different name, essentially two different new patient ids. Also too, when women use an old driver’s license with their maiden names but legally go by their married name. )

I suggest that did not happen. Sarah had the amniocentesis under her married name using a physician’s order from her personal physician. The sneaking in the back door and using false id was an abortion center.
To dramatize her suffering, when she told the story of the amniocentesis, she used the more emotional setting of the abortion clinic. She didn’t invent the drama or the emotion, they just belonged to a different event.

That is perfectly consistent with dozens of other over dramatized moments of glory, family history, martyrdom, child rape etc.

I've been following all the trig truther blogs since Sarah's VP nomination. Without any inside information, I think there is an abortion somewhere in this story, and that is why it was and continues to be covered up. Otherwise Sarah could have come clean without any loss of popularity or credibility. I think she faked a pregnancy to cover an abortion. Having the whole world thinking she faked a pregnancy eliminated any investigation or discussion of an abortion.

The big issue here is outing a lying (and possibly mentally ill) politician who is enjoying an unwarranted and very destructive influence in our political debate during a very unstable economic/ cultural climate (not to mention, two wars). It's not some sweet little narrative about a kid with special needs having a loving home.

If you don't see the danger in demagogues such as Palin, and why she must be dealt with swiftly by the public, then you must live your life in a nice, cozy little bubble protected from reality and history's lessons. More's the pity.

Horrors like 9/11 or assassinations come along only occasionally with admittedly devastating consequences, but the lesser "horrors" like Palin and her ilk cause a drip drip drip of destruction, day in and day out, which can have equal or more impressive consequences on our country when all added up through time.

Both were in NICU and only Trig survived, yet Levi was still photographed with his little FAS Ruffle Ear kid at the Palin's home in Mercede's famous photos. These anon comments on Progressive Alaska may provide some (really plausible, IMO) answers to some of the questions raised in this thread (eg why those in the know are reluctant to come forward):

"CBJ is a specialist in child sexual abuse. Think about that and about why so many people, even people who don't like or respect the Palins are willing to keep the secret. When it comes out, even liberals who hate Palin won't be able to celebrate and will just feel..disgusted. And before you jump to conclusions, it's still not what you think. People are not protecting SP. They are protecting the innocents involved. SP will have no one besides herself to blame b/c just like Edwards she should have shunned the spotlight knowing the horrible skeletons in her and her family's closet."

"The truth is known and has been know in Rep. circles in Alaska almost from the beginning and it moved beyond Alaska during the campaign after SP was picked. As for as why it hasn't come out yet--three reasons 1) political expediency of Republicans, 2) genuine concern for the innocent victims 3)the proof is not widely accessible. I think it's wrong to blame the media, because no one in their right mind would believe a sitting governor would do this and also the truth is so awful that to speculate about it publicly without evidence would be grossly irresponsible."

How much money do you think she saved by using Todd, and Indian Health Services(IHS) if IHS were utilized for the birth of her children.
Todd with a CDIB is enrolled in the Yupiit Nation and is also eligible for IHS, as would his wife and children. My understanding is that IHS does not require CDIB but tribal enrollment does.

I guess my point is, in order to apply for CDIB, an state certified birth certificate is required. Have all these children been enrolled with the tribe?
