The left is a picture of what Sarah Palin looks like when she actually IS pregnant.
From Litbrit:
Why me? Why now? Well, as I've written--to friends, and to readers who've sent supportive e-mails, and in a few comment threads--I simply grew weary of waiting for someone in the mainstream media to join Andrew Sullivan and a handful of bloggers and demand some truth. Demand that a politican who makes enormous claims that are, on their face, fraught with the possibility (probability?) of being opportunistic lies in the disgusting extreme--claims on which she has built a political base and, in large part, a career, but which are full of holes that are glaringly evident to even the most casual observer--be held accountable.
I grew disillusioned with just about everyone pretending to the title of journalist, in fact, and I came to realize that if I was ever going to be able to look at myself in the mirror and say, Well, I did my best, with what I had to work with, and I tried, I would have to stick my neck out too. If I didn't, I would forfeit the right to ever again criticize the media for their laziness and bought-and-paid-for behavior. So I jumped in. Others have been carrying this alone for too long.
I have had lot of job related things taking my attention away form the blog.
I will try to post a little something concerning Team Levi later on this afternoon.
Until then, please read this very well thought argument for WHY continuing to pursue this story is the right thing to do.
People pursue this story because engaging in gossip and drama of babies, weddings, etc. is easier than learning to understand political and economic issues. Sarah Palin is enchanted that people get so hung up on these soap operish details that they don't have time or energy to analyze the atrocity of her actual politics. You are playing right into her hands with this babygate thing, guys.
ReplyDeleteEven her own bots don't pay attention to her politics. I disagree with ignoring babygate. It is the one thing, when finally exposed, that will blow her cover. Even the bots won't be able to ignore the fact that she has lied about something like this. I say go for it...to expose Palin's lies and to expose the cowardice of the MSM.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't disagree more. I believe that this has to be a two-pronged approach: (a)addressing the substance of what she claims; and (b) refuting her credibility. This goes to the latter and, so long as it is not the sole focus, it is an important one.
ReplyDeletePeople pursue this story and follow it for one reason...
ReplyDeleteIt is the best soap opera on the net.
Clarissa, believe it or not, the Internet has enough eyes to look at both her "actual politics" and that which you would steer us away from.
ReplyDeleteBesides, if Babygate should be definitively resolved in the way that seems likely, her "actual politics" (does she really have any, other than IFMF?) will suffer an abrupt decrease in significance.
anon 9:57 I also think "people who pursue this story and follow it" do do it for one reason. But I think that reason is that it speaks to her character in a way that no other issue does.
ReplyDeleteHer heroic decision to bring to term a DS baby so late in Palin's life gives her exceptional street cred with the Evangelicals. More than we can imagine. I'm sure it was a MAJOR factor in McCain (or whoever made the decision for him) picking her.
Debunk this remarkable story, and all it means to her persona, and the fradulant house of cards cumbles.
For sure she will still have followers that will never desert her, no matter what lies the lamestream media (a phrase that literally makes me gag)make up.
But she will lose all credibility with all but a delusional few.
So I say more power to people who want to call her out on her policy positions, her shadey financial dealings, her lies about the President, her ignorance of world and national affairs, her word salad, her inventing new words, her racist rhetoric, her shamless exploitation of her children and a host of other issues.
If people want to join the fight by following the improbable Trig story I say more power to them. Bcause one swift, undeniable kick to that part of the narrative and down she goes forever. I hope!
Somewhere I read that the one looking away was $P and the woman in read was maybe a relative. Is there any truth to that?
ReplyDelete___I will try to post a little something concerning Team Levi later on this afternoon___
ReplyDeleteThat would be rich! I will be anxious to read that one. Litbrit is spot on! I love her writing.
She is an important part of another blog, I am so glad you will tolerate her here. The Handmaid's Tale is a favorite of mine also, too. Did your read the book? Movie?
There is NO WAY that BABYGATE should be ABORTED!!!! McCain aborted all his mistakes and crimes since he was a young punk and his family military status gave him privilege. His part in BABYGATE is not to be aborted like all his military and mafia cover ups. Shame on anyone that is against the truth being exposed.
Sarah is a LIAR and a FRAUD. Alaskans have begun to figure that out but the rest of America deserves to know the truth. She wants to run for POTUS and if she has lied about Trigg, god only knows what else she has lied about.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% that the Trig charade is important and must be pushed to the MSM or, more importantly, The Enquirer. My fear is that, with all the present (and excellent) info available on the web, Sideshow Sarah's keeper$$$ must have marketing experts on retainer trying to come up with a "plausible" lie to counter the truth should the need arise. Ya know, a tale that her gullible base will swallow hook, line and sinker and marvel at what a saint she is. BTW, where is Trig these days? Guess he'll be on display again for 2012.
ReplyDeleteI still predict that Sarah will bring on her own very public breakdown trying to live this lie, along with the ALL the others. Some damning remark will slip out of her face during one of her ego-driven, mindless rants and the non-Fox MSM will have no choice but to pursue it like rabid dogs. It'll be ratings gold.
What's up with Sullivan? His post today on Trig sounds like he is moving into the Sarah gave birth to Trig camp, but flew because she was trying for a fundie abortion.
ReplyDeleteThat theory makes no sense to me.
The fact that someone would go to such an extent to manipulate her family and use them for her own promotion is a huge danger sign to the country that this woman needs to get out of politics. Whatever the story behind babygate is, which is most likely Sarah was not pregnant, but her daughter was, it serves as proof of what she is. Sarah lied and put on a show designed to manipulate the public. Often when teenagers have babies parents will either adopt them or raise them, all she had to do was say this. In fact she could have said she would not reveal who the mother was and that it was no ones business. She made it our business when it was clear she was pulling a con. This elaborate hoax is indicative of psychopathy which if unleashed on this country could finish us off. Sarah Palin has no conscience and is being manipulated by powerful people with an agenda. These people nearly destroyed this country under GWB, it is such as mess we may never recover. That is part of their plan.
ReplyDeleteJust the fact that she thinks that she is a hero for giving birth to a DS baby (or in her case, either risking it's life to have it in a way that any real doctor would fire her as a patient, or for taking care of someone's DS baby) should make us wonder about her. There are a lot of women whose doctors respect them for declining that test to tip them off to DS, who never see having the baby as a "choice."
ReplyDeleteShe thought she could endear people to her by making this up. Most of us are galled by her gall. She didn't think that would happen.
My question is, even if it is acknowledged, what is next? "OK, So I did fabricate it to make me look like a better person who practices what she preaches! Whadaryagonna do about it?" What will we do? It's pointless.
people pursue this story for one simple reason: palin is a fraud and people want to see her exposed.
ReplyDeleteClarissa, if you would like to engage in a discussion analyzing "the atrocity" of Scarah Paylin's politics, I'm sure many people here including myself would be happy to oblige. Your attitude that babygate is "soap operish" is exactly playing into Scarah's hands; it's such an outrageous story that she's bet the farm nobody would question it. If we pursued this story because it's "easy" then we would have the answers by now. It's not easy, but to many of us the truth is worth the struggle to find it, even though it is buried under multiple layers of lies.
ReplyDeleteClarissa, this blog is not the whole story and this issue is not by any means all there is! Until she declares as a candidate for something, her actual politics are not what the MSM cares about.
ReplyDeleteBut she exists at all because she sold herself as super mom, slayer of salmon and Big Oil. Right now we are bearing down on the super mom BS because of Bristol and the babies and all this gossip.
Trig is key. Covering for your daughter, ok, not new, but carrying it as far as she has with this kid as her crown, is the ugly part.

It's Sarah in the red shirt. The Heaths gave the photo to Fox news and it was included in Fox's Sarah Palin: An American Woman series, part #1 at 6:01.

Also on the video:
4:14 - very sarcastically delivered remark about Todd's title of 'First Dude'
5:22 - talks about swimsuit competition - the most pronounced tongue in cheek expression I've ever seen. Looks like she could have bruised the inside of her mouth.
5:57 - college graduation photo
There are not political or economic policies associated with Palin, except for "common sense conservative solutions". As far as Trig goes, if she did this to cover for Bristol, then why parade her daughter in front of the national media as five months pregnant? Why not decline the V.P. nomination to further protect her daughter? That was what I found reprehensible from the day she announced her daughter was pregnant. Why would a woman at such a young age, less than two years in the Governor's seat, feel she had to jump at the V.P. nomination when she had an extremely full plate at home? Yes, women can work and raise a family. But when it comes to Palin, the fact that her youngest had Down syndrome somewhat negates that "we can do it all". If you add a pregnant, unwed 17 year old daughter to the mix, it's common sense to turn down the nomination. Why do you think she had the McCain campaign tell her family she was running for V.P.? They had already discussed this and they didn't want her to run. $arah does whatever she wants to do.
ReplyDeleteIf she had introduced her family at the convention, then carried herself forward in the campaign without them at her side at every stump speech, there's a good chance, that the media would have left the story alone. However, she has used Trig to bolster her credentials as a pro-life Mom at every possible chance she had. She used Piper to shield herself from the media during speeches throughout the past year. She uses Bristol to talk about unwed, single mothers. She uses Track to boost her credibility with the military. Poor Willow has been left out of the picture completely but if there is a way she can use her, too, she will!
It may be that her fan base would accept the fact that she covered up her daughter's pregnancy by pretending to be pregnant with Trig, however, what about all those stories she spun? The wild ride? The letter from Trig's creator? The emotional feelings she went through "learning she was pregnant with a Down syndrome child"? The majority will not accept those lies because she, being $arah Palin, stretched the story into a "feel sorry for me" line. We can only hope that the truth comes out soon because every time she opens her mouth, hatred and divisiveness spill out further splitting this country into two sides. Palin is the last thing we need!
Clarissa -- Sarah Palin has no clear and well thought out ideas of her own. Yes she is a right-wing fundamentalist in sexually teasing attire. She is an opportunist being used by far slyer foxes than she.
ReplyDeleteShe is also mentally unstable and a complete and total fraud. One of her BIGGEST lies is that she birthed Trig. If you've been following her antics closely, you'd know that she uses him as a prop to appeal to her base. So it is essential that this lie is exposed. I suggest that you research this question further before making your pronouncements.
Conscious at last!
I've followed this since late 2008, and I believe that this is not just one whopper. I think if the truth does come out, we will have a compelling picture of evil at work, of people's good intentions exploited by a narcissist without scruples to draw them into a web of proliferating lies. The value in exposing it goes far beyond ending the threat posed by the central character's political career.
ReplyDeleteI think this "Babygate" scandal is most important because it appears there is a baby who went missing; I am referring to Gryphen's post about the two different Trigs - the baby with malformed ears.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to that baby that was used in the hospital photos to perpetrate this fraud?
I'm still not sure whether I believe she had the baby or not. (I'm leaning heavily towards not.)
ReplyDeleteWhat is important is to get people to pay attention to the implications of this story. Either she did not give birth and is a big, fat liar, or she did give birth and has extraordinarily poor judgment. Neither option shows her sincerely "walking the walk" of the Christian values she claims to have.
Most importantly, no matter which is the case, she had demonstrated that she lacks the values that one wants in the President of the United States, the person able to unleash a nuclear arsenal at the push of a button, the person able to call forth the young people of the US to go to war.
This story coming out will cause people to stop and think about who Sarah Palin really is, and whether she is the type of person the majority of Americans wants as their leader.
Sarah is in the red. The woman to the left is her mother, Sally Heath.
