Mitt Romney's team fires its first salvo at Sarah Palin. Palin's team immediately plays the victim card and uses ghost of Ronald Reagan as shield against criticism. Oh yeah, they're screwed!

From Politico:

In potentially the first inter-staff dust up of the 2012 presidential race, an aide of Sarah Palin is hitting back at Mitt Romney’s camp for saying the former Alaska governor is “not a serious human being.”

A “Romney intimate” was quoted by Time’s Mark Halperin in a Thursday column as saying that Palin could not withstand the rigors of a presidential campaign.

“If she’s standing up there in a debate and the answers are more than 15 seconds long, she’s in trouble,” the Romney intimate said.

An additional Romney “adviser” was quoted as saying the former Massachusetts governor’s team is not intimidated by a possible Palin run. “She’s not a serious human being,” the adviser said.

Asked about the comments by POLITICO, a longtime Palin aide unloaded on Romney’s staff.

“It shocks me that anyone would try to do that,” the aide said. “You’d think we’d all be working together toward a common goal – that being 2010 – and that should be the focus right now. Those who try to claim the mantle of Reagan would be good to follow one of his most sacred tenets.” ("Sacred tenets?" She does recognize the difference between Reagan and Jesus, right?)

“For Washington consultants to sit around and personally disparage the Governor anonymously to reporters is unfortunate and counterproductive and frankly immature,” the aide, who spoke on condition of anonymity, continued.

Comparing the quotes to those attributed to Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) staff attacking Palin toward the end of the presidential campaign, the aide said, “We've seen this movie before and it didn't end so well for those anonymous consultants.”
(Yep the poor bastards are now working for Romney and other political campaigns. Oh God how they have suffered!)

“She’s not focused on promoting herself or disparaging other Republicans,” the aide said. The Republican Party is “not worried about 2012. We should be focused on 2010.” (Did she just say that Palin is "not focused on promoting herself?" WTF?)

"Long time Palin aide?" Sarah has been dropping "long time aides" as often as  Mel Gibson drops the F-bomb.  This person can only be Sarah Palin's most ardent fan, and Facebook ghostwriter Rebecca Mansour, or RAM.  The tone sounds very much like the kind of whiny defensiveness that issues from RAM every time somebody dares to recognize that her idol is a phony.

"What?  I can't believe that Republicans would attack the most glorious person to ever walk the planet earth like that!  Just like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin is a carbon based life form that breathes oxygen and she has done nothing (that you can prove) to attack any other potential GOP candidates. Sarah Palin is a goddess who will one day rule over this planet with benevolence and charity, and then you will all see the error of your ways. All hail the Queen of light......wait what was I saying? Oh yeah. Just like Ronald Reagan (except for the bad wigs, the wonky eye, the padded bra, and the constantly knocked up daughter), Sarah Palin is a TRUE patriot who understands that we should ALL be working together and keeping our eye on the prize for 2010, unlike that walking store front mannequin!"

You know not that I want to necessarily protect Sarah from herself, but she may want to keep a little distance between herself and RAM. In the end having somebody that crazed on her team could really work out poorly for her.  I wonder if she has ever read about the fate of the Mexican pop star Selena?

Palin and her cronies, nothing but rage, rage, rage. People get tired of an attitude like that.

I hope Levi and Bristol get their reality show so everyone can see what loser white trash the whole group is. I read a comment today that was maybe mean, but to the point- "Just shows how low the Palins are when a convicted drug addict and her daughter show more grace and maturity that the Palins."

More and more people are seeing it. Palin is no Christian. She's not smart. She's here for the $$$
She could give a damn if you have a home, job or healthcare. She's got hers and that's all that matters.

The "sacred" connatations really are creepy. First off, wasn't it King Herod or some such King in the NT that allowed the crowds to declare him a God, and he was struck down with some worms in his intestines kind-of-thingy. The lesson here being that "there shall be no other Gods beside Me". The Israelies knew that it was blasphemy to refer to any man as god-like, or sacred.

That's the perspective and belief of the christian faith. If I were Palin, I'd replace the Palin "aide" spokesperson; this ain't going to go down well with the evangelical crowd. Not in the least.

Two points: first I keep hearing Palin and her "aides" dismissive and angry tone toward "anonymous" information. I think this is because they do not want to address the issue, but prefer to attack the messenger.

(A wake up moment for me was her interview with Charlie Gibson where her experience was being discussed.
Gibson: Some journalists say you haven't enough experience to be VP.
Palin: (A terrifying smile of instant death on her face) WHO said that? WHO?)

Second point: Well, I think SP is her own worst enemy, and honestly after that weird "I quit" speech I thought we would see her suddenly break out in complete gibberish during one of her "Fox Consultant" segments, which her zealot followers would try to pass off as "speaking in tongues".

But her fans have a carefully crafted image of her - one she has tried hard polish - that is COMPLETELY false.

Who knows what will happen when their tiny minds suddenly realize that their idol has two priorities: money and constant adoration?

Reagan restored 1/3 of massive tax cuts, increased the gas tax, increased military spending- and instituted a payroll tax to fund Medicare and Social Security. And he did increase the size of the federal government AND the national debt. Based on his past actions, today Reagan would cut military spending- no need for all the expensive toys- ignore all the moral issues conservatives are fond of, and tackle illegal immigration.

What was Sarah's famous quote in her "quitty" speach?........... "I've never believed that I, nor anyone else, needs a title to do this - to make a difference... to HELP people. So I choose, for my State and my family, more "freedom" to progress, all the way around... so that Alaska may progress" For someone who never believed she needed a title to make a difference, she sure wears that title of Governor like a crown. I guess she thinks that without it, she has no credibility. And the only difference she has made for Alaska is to remove an unqualified cancer from the Governor's office. do thank her for that.

But all she has done since resigning is promote herself and take money left and right on false pretenses. It's a much better gig than actually having RESPONSIBILITIES which Sarah Heath Palin has shown all her life that she can't handle. When the going gets tough, she quits.

Before you announce your candidacy this time Sarah, remember, "If you can't stand the heat, Stay out of the kitchen."

And there will be plenty of heat. Trust me, this incident was just a teensie tiny warm-up.

For those asking for Reagan HISTORY not legend... I am currently reading my 3rd book on Reagan. Palin & Reagan have quite a few similarities - neither one could tell the truth, both lacked intellectual curiosity, both don't or didn't care HOW it gets done as long as it gets done (Iran-Contra), both appointed friends over qualifications for positions, both seem to feel laws (ethical or legal) do not apply to them and the list goes on & on. I hope by Sept. to have an "blog essay" of Reagan / Palin - perhaps with a follow up on some of the best known Reagan myths. Like "ending the Cold War" - the Berlin Wall "photo-op" - he was a true "conservative" - he reduced government. Why he hated taxes for the rich. ...

Yes, it is hilarious that anyone would come out with the ridiculously inaccurate statement that Palin is not about self-promotion. That's all she's done since she quit as Alaska's governor last year.

Did she seriously think her potential GOP rivals would play nice with her? They are every bit as ambitious and will attack her as well as each other in order to win. Playing the victim plays well to her base, but is a losing strategy in running for political office. But I've always known that she can dish out vitriol, and not take it.

As for her endless references to Reagan, it's long past time his ghost was laid to rest. I didn't like him as president, but she would be infinitely worse. She's trying to be his political heir, but she fails to realize that his era ended in 1989. The country has changed radically since his time, and there is no resurrecting the America of that period.
