Mysterious South Carolina Senate candidate Alvin Green has an idea to stimulate the economy. Make action figures that look just like him...no joke.
Greene told The Guardian's Ed Pilkington in a story posted on their website Tuesday that his "out of the box" solution is "not a joke."
Speaking with Pilkington, Greene said, "Another thing we can do for jobs is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls. Me in an Army uniform, Air Force uniform, and me in my suit. They can make toys of me and my vehicle, especially for the holidays and Christmas for the kids."
Greene went on to say, "That's something that would create jobs. So you see I think out of the box like that. It's not something a typical person would bring up. That's something that could happen, that makes sense. It's not a joke."
Uh...WTF?
Too bad this guy is a Democrat or we would have the perfect running mate for Sarah Palin's 2012 campaign.
Dumber and Dumbest!
Maybe we can talk him into switching sides? It might even sweeten the deal if he knew that Sarah Palin already had her own set of action dolls.

I still don't see how this guy got elected for the runoff because he had no campaign, no rallies and no advertisement; so who the hell KNEW anything about him or at least enough to vote for him? The number of votes he received are legitimate, so we need to now make voting ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CANDIDATES AND WHAT CURRENT EVENTS ARE ABOUT AT THE TIME OF VOTING. Otherwise, we have proved that not only do we have IGNORANT, UNEDUCATED AND/OR STUPID 'candidates', but also that applies to the ELECTORATE. If they can't pass a test, they cannot vote. If they cannot pass another test, they cannot run for elected office.
ReplyDeleteThat would be the ONLY way to have some fairness in elections because as we can see from this, both the candidates and electorate are just as ignorant, stupid and uneducated with no concern to learn about current events even in their own community and states. America CANNOT CONTINUE to PAY NO ATTENTION TO ELECTIONS OR WE WILL END UP WITH THE DUMB, STUPID, IGNORANT AND UNEDUCATED CANDIDATES MAKING AMERICA THE 'LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE WORLD' - IF WE AREN'T ALREADY BEING LAUGHED AT THERE!
WE CANNOT CONTINUE IN APATHY; JUST MARKING CARDS BECAUSE I LIKE THAT GUY BECAUSE HE SEEMS NICE [BUT HE'S REALLY A THIEF] PEOPLE REQUIRE REAL INFORMATION ON CANDIDATES IN ORDER TO MAKE AN INFORMED CHOICE. WE CANT CONTINUE TO VOTE FOR UNKNOWN PEOPLE BECAUSE IT WILL AFFECT OUR LIVES FOR A LONG TIME. IF IT MEANS GOING TO A MEETING TO GET TO KNOW THEM AND THEIR STANDS ON VARIOUS ISSUES, THEN THAT'S WHAT IS NEEDED.
WE CAN'T REMAIN STUPID ELECTORATE BY KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT THE CANDIDATES! WE ARE ONLY HURTING AMERICA AND OURSELVES. WE DO NO WANT STUPID PEOPLE LIKE PAYLIN OR AL GREENE TAKING POSITIONS IN THE FEDERAL CONGRESS WHEN THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HOW CONGRESS OR THE SENATE WORK AND WHAT THEIR DUTIES WILL BE!
Hey, don't judge him so soon... maybe he has a different kind of intelligence. Perhaps he is a musical learner, or learns visually...

Perhaps this is why our founding fathers allowed only landed gentry to vote in the beginning because they were most likely to be the most educated. I am NOT saying that that would be right for this century; it worked then - but soon became unwieldy and unfair as the masses were educated (we won't even go into the exclusion of women and blacks for generations).
ReplyDeleteHowever, I cannot think of a way to weed-out the uneducated, the stupid and the apathetic (who vote on the sound of the name or the straight party line) without running amiss of basic fairness. We cannot return to literacy tests or knowledge-based tests, because, you know there are too many states still too willing to exclude blacks.
I think if we had a test on civics, only the naturalized citizens would be able to vote. They have to study American history and government.
Too many school districts no longer teach government or civics. This should be regarded as important a fundamental subject as reading, writing and math(not saying that others subjects are not important - I am huge supporter of teaching science and all the arts such as music, theater and fine arts because they teach problem solving skills, mathematics, chemistry, et cetera).
That said, I understand Anonmymous 1:55's frustration.
I would place more emphasis on citizen involvement at the local level. Once you are active in a campaign or voter registration or working at the polls, you cannot help but pay attention to the candidates.
If we have campaign finance reform, perhaps more qualified people would run. As it is now, you have to be wealthy yourself or know people who are.
Of course, that brings us back to the Alvin problem: how the hell did he afford the filing? How did the Democratic Party there not know about him and work to ease him out?
Alvin Green must be a Republican plant. I hope the investigation into his filing fee payment reveals who gave him the money.
ReplyDeleteThis man must be traumatized by his military service - erratic as it was in several different branches - because he was once in the intelligence service (could have been a clerical worker there I guess). He is so obviously unable to handle basic conversation, let alone complex social and political issues, that he needs to step aside. I don't know if the SC Dem Party can appoint a substitute if he steps aside, but really, this is beyond sad.
What if he won the general? That would not just be sad, it would be tragic. I deeply dislike DeMint, but to have Green in office, oh, my.
I wouldn't put it past DeMind to have orchestrated this whole thing. He is such a sleazeball.
This man is NOT stupid. Nor is he uneducated. From Wikipedia:
ReplyDelete"Greene graduated from Manning High School in 1995 and received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of South Carolina in 2000. He served as an intelligence specialist and a unit supply specialist in the U.S. Army and has also served in the U.S. Air Force and the Army National Guard. He received the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Greene received an honorable but involuntary discharge from the Army in 2009 after a 13 year career and has been unemployed since."
You don't earn a degree in political science from even a southern university if you are stupid. You don't specialize in logistics and intelligence if you are uneducated.
The INVOLUNTARY discharge after 13 years of honorable and dutiful service screams that he suffers PSDT or some other injury received *in service*... and that the military simply discarded him rather than treated him.
Was it prolonged exposure to the horrors of seeing his mates blown apart? Or was it the sudden shock of being too near an IED and having the brain bounce around inside the skull? We do not know, and, of course, the military never says.
I wish for his sake, and for the sake of all those THOUSANDS of vets who are similarly dumped with no medical care and no job prospects, that our country would do what is right: those who have served us need retraining for a civilian life, including medical and mental care.
I pity the waste.
Greene ought not be our candidate, OTOH as a congress-critter he'll get the same care that McCain gets, and can hardly do worse for the country and its problems.
I hate to admit it, but I think the crazies are taking over America.
ReplyDeleteHi Gryphen,
ReplyDeleteGood job!Standing up for the people that need the support.
Alvin Green: A few days ago I read an article about him. It was most interesting. He has a high degree in a difficult subject. He was in the army in good standing.
He is just shy and very quiet....they say.
I've been following your blog for a few years. I can't say that I care for Palin. I have never met anyone that bugs me as much as she does. She is so evil and doesn't stop at anything to destroy anyone that is in her way.
Would that be a Sarah IN-action figurine? (She's certainly is no doll!)
ReplyDeleteTrue he's not conventional, but he may be trying to make a point. About how voters are wired to just accept candidates who must have all the traditional stereotype sleaky hair, suit-wearing, white teeth smiling, baby clutching, pious, sales pitching ego-driven masks.
ReplyDeleteHe's saying one doesn't have to have all the markings, or show of a higher education on their sleeve, but the more common wisdom, of someone whose qualifications and experience aren't just politital back-room dealing and sucking up to big shots. OK, just my 2 cents for the day.
Sorry, but this dim bulb is so obviously a plant. The dems in SC have A LOT of work to do in the future.
ReplyDeleteI like the guy.

Perhaps the news ought to interview people who worked with Mr. Greene in the Army and Air Force. I am in the Air Force and I know the military gives PLENTY of chances to people in order to get them to improve their poor performance or recitfy bad behavior. If he was demoted and involuntarily separated from the military several times, maybe there's something to it.
ReplyDeleteRight now, so many Americans are out of jobs. If creating action figures, dolls, and superheros with this guys face...heck, anyone's face on it...gets some jobs back here in the USA, then I'm all for it. BTW: in the interest of full disclosure: I am not a SC resident (therefore my tax dollars would not be supporting such an initiative) and I work for Mattel (LOL)
