Sarah Palin admits she quit as Governor because of the media.

From the Daily Caller:

From a remote location on an island off Alaska’s coast, former Governor Sarah Palin is blasting what she describes as the “sick puppies” in the media who immediately and ruthlessly attacked her when Sen. John McCain picked her as his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.

By "attacked her" she really means "investigated her", which to Palin must have seemed like an attack since, up until then, the Alaska media had rolled over to have its tummy rubbed every time she walked into the room and rarely asked her any difficult questions, or in Palin parlance, "gotcha questions."

In exclusive remarks to The Daily Caller, Palin described “hordes of Obama’s opposition researchers-slash ‘reporters’” descending upon Alaska in the days after she was picked by McCain.
She said the media became a key reason she decided not to finish out her term as governor and faults, in part, the McCain campaign for failing to vigorously defend her.

I have heard that "hordes of Obama opposition researchers" claim since the day Palin was picked as Old Man McCain's arm candy, but in fact most of the reporters who came up here were simply trying to learn more about this newly minted national politician who hardly anybody knew anything about.

Hell I was doing research as well, and I can assure you that NOBODY paid me a dime to do so.

Palin chose to be a public figure at the highest level, as a candidate in a presidential campaign, arguably inviting the most intense scrutiny imaginable.

“It was too obvious to me, my family, my administration and anyone else who knew me (and my record) that we were in a defenseless position the minute I gave my acceptance speech and the hordes of Obama’s opposition researchers-slash ‘reporters’ had descended upon Alaska,” Palin told The DC.
Palin, whose conflicts with key McCain campaign staffers are infamous, said the campaign could have stood by her more firmly.

“To not have had the McCain campaign staff defend my record was an insurmountable challenge, because once a bell is rung, it’s impossible to un-ring,” Palin said.

I believe what Sarah is referring to here is the McCain campaign's refusal to lie about Todd Palin's membership with the Alaska Independence Party.

“It didn’t help, either, that the hours and hours of interviews with the likes of Katie Couric resulted in a few minutes here and there of selected snippets of my annoyed answers. (I naively had not believed at the time of some of the badgering questions [for example, questioning my pro-life position] that the editing process would fulfill their biased purpose),” Palin said.

Another ridiculous accusation.  Palin also recently looked like an idiot while being interviewed by Bill O'Reilly, was THAT also edited?  The truth is that the woman always looks like an imbecile unless somebody asks her only soft ball questions or scripts them with her ahead of time.  And often that does not help either.

“I said, ‘Enough. Political adversaries and their political friends in the media will not destroy my State, my administration, nor my family. Enough.’ I knew if I didn’t play their game any longer, they could not win. I would not retreat, I would instead reload, and I would fight for what is right from a different plane.”

So there you have it from "Mama Grizzly" herself.  Palin quit the job she was elected to, because she simply could not stand up to the media and the bloggers.

There you go Republicans, THAT is the woman who energizes your base like no other, the woman who is the darling of the Teabaggers who are actively hijacking your party.

Good luck with that.

By the way, just so we are all on the same page, NOBODY fears the media unless they have something to hide.  Remember that.

  1. Poor, poor pitiful me.
I had to give up a job, not because my legislators were wearing buttons that said 'where's Sarah'? because I was so seldom at work, not because I lied when I said I was cleared in Troopergate(McCain didn't support her lies then either)or Todd's being a member of a secessionist group. Not because I quit my previous government job, or lied about the bridge to now where, or about the plane.....
(This is from memory. I have not even looked up the things that TQ has gotten wrong/lied about.)
No, I think the twitter queen is saying, but not saying, is that the media continues to investigate her stories about Trig.
She cannot come out and say it, because then she would have to prove that everybody else is lying. And we know that she cannot do that.
So, onward Christian soldiers of Sister Sarah to the tune of poor poor pitiful me.

She's trying to lay the ground work for running for President and not answering any questions at press conferences or by reporters as she walks in the airport, but only being interviewed in a formal, editable setting on FoxNews. She is inventing an excuse for not talking to anyone but FoxNews. If the media, and the American people let her get away with being a candidate and not answering any questions, ala Sharron Angle's famous runs from the press, then we deserve what we get. She and her handlers know she doesn't have the physical or mental stamina to make it through a real Presidential campaign. Besides, the idea that a serious Presidential candidate would agree to appear on a reality show crossover with Kate + 8 is ludicrous. She can't be taken seriously, she must not be taken seriously.

She was in a "defenseless position"? Because of the media she was rendered completely helpless? She was running for the second highest office in the country. How could you defend the country, Scarah, when you can't even DEFEND YOURSELF???

You bailed on AK to "fight for what is right"? And just what is that? To make fistfuls of money and not be accountable to anyone?

Now Scarah, I know you are a moron with mental illness, but let me tell you this: THE ELECTION IS OVER! Nobody wants to hear your whining and "wah-wah, I'm the victim" crap. GET OVER IT! Things are happening in this world and it's not all about you. On second thought, just keep blabbering. It shows how totally unelectable you are. You are a JOKE.

For all that is holy. . .she was an unknown political figure, a legend in her own mind, she didn't hesitate to take on a free world role and she still doesn't understand why she needs to be vetted?

Just like every criticism leveled against her is considered frivolous, every non-scripted interview or analysis is dubbed opposition research.

This is not the thinking of a leader, it is the thinking of a self-serving narcissist with the emotional and intellectual capacity of a 13 year old.

I still call bullshit when she says the rocky first year as mayor of Wasilla helped her 'grow tremendously.' in what respect Sarah?

Wow. I knew she was a wimp, but that's pretty amazing.

I still think she's going to run for President, but she's trying to set up the landscape so she only has to talk to friendly media folks, like Beck and Hannity and won't have to talk to any of the m33n ones like Katie Couric.

Well, good luck with that, Sarah. A Presidential campaign is long and grueling and there's no way you can get through it without having to talk to people in the media and/or looking like a scaredy cat for refusing to do so.

Okay, rather than admit she should have blinked, rather than admit the serious human being capacity for introspection and learn from her mistakes, she still can't help but nail the haters and bite the hands that feed her (all the idiots under the bus of Palin's ambition) which now includes John McCain himself.

It's going to continue to be a tough old world for Sarah that even two years later in the (often times invited) vetting gauntlet, she proves there is no hope of maturation beyond her 17-20% of fringe support.

Good luck broadening your appeal beyond Tea-Partiers Sarah - as you continue to poke a stick at media and the Internet (aka blogs and tweets.)

There are grown-ups out here that want more than your stunted leadership.

If St. Sowah of the Perpetual Whine couldn't stand the heat when she was running for VP, how could she bear (no pun intended) it if she runs for president? She'll have to run in the primary first and I have a feeling the Republican guys running against her will be uglier than anything she seen yet. And that will be on all the teevee machines and intertubes whether she likes it or not. It doesn't appear that even the Repug "elite" believe she is qualified, but they like using her for fund raising from the far rightwing nutjobs.

Word seems to be getting out that those high paying speeches to business associations, etc. are just recycled campaign talking points and tired, over-used silly statements. She doesn't seem to be doing many of those gigs anymore.

Ha! If she had played her cards honestly and made rational decisions about her personal and private life, she would now have a record she could be proud of.

Truth is, we will hear her whining and bitching until the end of time if there is even an attempt at documenting her words and behavior, because they are so easy to discredit.

She blames the "media" rather than herself for looking like the greedy idiot she is.

(God bless Tina Fey. The main point of that devastating SNL skit is that they hardly had to change a word from SP's "it's all about job creation" interview.)

    Poor little Sarah.

"We were in a defenseless position the minute I gave my acceptance speech." Right. The McCain campaign didn't have hundreds of millions of dollars to defend themselves. And that's because even in her accptance speech she couldn't help but lie. Remember the Bridge to Nowhere and telling Congress "thanks, but no thanks" for federal money that the state had actually received under the previous administration.

Remember telling Palin announcing the 20th anniverary of her "elopement to save her parents money" in Dayton on August 29, 2008, when in fact she had been knocked up when she and Todd got married.

"Hordes of Obama’s opposition researchers-slash ‘reporters’ had descended upon Alaska." This is one of her many lies, one that was repeated during the campaign but found to be untrue. She had accused Obama of "parachuting in" a whole bunch of operatives. In fact, the McCain Campaign put one of their operatives, Ed O'Callaghan, a thug attorney out of New York City, to take over state government while Palin campaigned.

"Palin, whose conflicts with key McCain campaign staffers are infamous, said the campaign could have stood by her more firmly."

“To not have had the McCain campaign staff defend my record was an insurmountable challenge, because once a bell is rung, it’s impossible to un-ring." Right, regarding the Bridge to Nowhere, Troopergate, "open and transparent" government, secret per diem payments, family travel at public expense, it is hard to unring the string of lies that spewed from her lips.

And if she is right, that it is impossible to unring a bell once it is rung, why would the McCain campaign defend her? Maybe she should not have rung the bell so often!

“The media incentivized political opponents to file false ethics charges and expensive, wasteful, frivolous lawsuits against me, my family and my staff, in an obvious attempt to destroy us.” Perhaps if Palin hadn't run as a reforming crusader, only to turn out to be a hypocrite in so many respects over so many years, that would not have happened. And in some cases Palin was found guilty or otherwise pleaded out by "settling." Two were "settled," one requiring her to pay the state back thousands of dollars for travel money she lavished on personal trips for her family, and the recent one that required her to repay nearly $400,000 that she received for the Palin Family Slush Fund.

The most famous ethics violation, for which a bipartisan committee of legislators from a Republican dominated legislature found her guilty of abuse of office, was Troopergate, which of course started before she was selected by McCain.

The media did not incentivize her political opponents. Actually, it was everyday Alaskans who were tired about her many lies- starting with Troopergate and the Bridge to Nowhere- who gave information to the media without needing incentives other than the truth.

In sum, as Alaskans say, if her lips are flappin", she's lyin'.

    You betcha.

The funniest part of all this is that the "journalists" in this country treated her with kid gloves and did a lousy job of investigating her. Ditto the FBI and assorted other law enforcement agencies that should have found enough to lock her up years ago.

If she'd gone back to simply governing Alaska no one in the press corps would have paid any attention to her. If my memory serves me correctly, all the Palin news we were hearing between Nov 08 and July 09 was Bristol had her baby, Levi's not qualified for his job, Bristol broke up with Levi, here's Bristol with her new baby, Dave Letterman is calling me a slutty flight attendant and making jokes about my daughter, people are complaining about Piper's lemonade stand, etc, etc, etc. Oooo, so scary.

  17. What has always amazed me about this woman's delusional, ever-the-aggrieved-victim ploy is that if she felt her interviews (i.e. with Couric) were somehow not representative of her intelligence, or being selectively edited so as to make her look bad, she could have easily and successfully pushed back against it by saying, "Look, I'd like to be interviewed--or debate one of you--in real time, with nothing edited. We'll talk about foreign and domestic policy, Supreme Court decisions, and the various newspapers I read on a daily basis, and nothing will be edited out, so people can judge for themselves how intelligent and competent I am."

An open letter to Sarah Palin:
How in the world do you think that you can run for the office of president and not be subjected to even momre media scrutiny?

The reason that people in the media asked questions is because no one outside of Alaska knew a thing about you. The Alaska media may have been wrapped around your finger, but it is a bigger, tougher world here in the lower forty eight.

As for those baseless ethics complaints, you paid back the ill-gotten travel expenses. You did abuse your office as governor in Troopergate, and in soliciting money to defend your lawyer. (Have you paid back the Alaska Fund Trust? You cannot have people pay that bill for you or you will be in trouble again).

They could have shown just the good parts of your "interviews" with Gibson and Kouric and you still would have looked ignorant. The reason is simple. You did not know anything about the major political issues, and you haven't bothered to educate yourself beyond simple talking points.

As for calling the Daily Caller, I suggest that you sit for a press conference with the New York Times, Washington Post, ABC, CBS, NBC (not Fox). You are as hopeless as Sharon Angle, running away from the hard questions. Even your appearances on Fox have been laughable. Whenever you speak, you say something stupid: Kodiak is not the biggest island in the US. Refudiate is not a word. If you write on your hand, it looks like your can't remember three important things.

(Note to Gryphen's readers. The Daily Caller is a new media blog founded this January by Tucker (Bow Tie) Carlson and Neil Patel, a former advisor to Dick Cheney.)

I would like to say a few works about selectively edited interviews. There was an orchestrated, edited video showing a "pimp and ho" (actors) trying to make ACORN look bad. The truth is that the ACORN employee called the police to report their "illegal activities" as soon as they left. (They were pretending to smuggle prostitutes across the Mexican border into the US).

We have just seen the results of another selectively edited video, Shirley Sherrod. Both of these events involved African American people who were set up to look bad and to put them out of business. They succeeded as far as ACORN is concerned. Today, Breitbart claims that he was after the NAACP instead of Sherrod, but it doesn't matter who the target was. He used edited tapes to spread a lie.

The first member of the Republican Party that I think of in terms of these two events is Karl Rove, or people who follow his tactics. In a Texas election, Karl famously "broke into" his own campaign headquarters, then called the police saying that the Democrats had vandalized the place. He is good a this sort of thing. He played the victim while he had set the whole thing up. Sounds like Sarah.

This is not what happened to Palin. Every time she opens her mouth, she is her own worst enemy. She loves to play the victim. The McCain campaign could not defend her. They would not lie about Todd and his AIP membership. The description of how hopeless she was when they were preparing her for her debate says it all. It was Sarah who was so confident that she could outsmart Katy Couric. (Katy Couric once sidelined George H.W.Bush with an Iran Contra question that he had been ducking. Katy is not a cupcake interview).

All we have to do is watch Sarah on Fox News, where she has been fed the questions ahead of time, and where the hosts are paid to try to make her look good. It was Harry Truman who said, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen." Where was Sarah's inner grizzly then?

any questions asked by an outside reporter in '08 was perceived by her

probably did come as a shock to her

One more thing: if she had nothing to hide, why get so upset about the media descending on AK? Most candidates would've recognized that scrutiny was part of the campaign, and welcomed the opportunity to prove they had nothing to hide.

What must those hard-working Sarah AFT donors be thinking now? Her quitting speech was primarily about being charged with so many frivolous ehtics complaints, having to pay legal bills. Her donation coffers surely were filled up after that.

So what did she quit for primarily? Worry of defense legal bills or JounoList plotters against her Queenness?

Sounds like a little girl toddler who got caught with her hand in the cookie jar and all excuses are laid out. Dog ate them. Siblings set her up. Kate's kids ate them up. Whatever.

Sarah's serious immaturity and inability to admit faults shouldn't be laughed at, it's a serious mental problem, that shouldn't get anywhere near the White House.

Palin peaked politically on the national scene with her speech at the RNC convention. From there, it was all downhill once the voting public began to find out who and what she really was: a shallow intellect with massive hubris and a venomous tongue.

She's right that once a bell is rung, it can't be unrung. Even the McCain campaign realized they had bought fraudulent goods. They couldn't defend her. They could only try to hide her inadequacies from the press and the voters as best they could.

Ever since the campaign, Palin has been trying to rewrite history, unring that bell, stuff her skeletons back into the closet, revisit her "days of glory," and just generally throw a petulant childish temper tantrum because voters see the real Sarah Palin clearly instead of the fantasy she nurses about herself.

    What a pathetic whiner.

Palin says: "To not have had the McCain campaign staff defend my record was an insurmountable challenge, ..."

    translation:

I could not govern the single state of Alaska because refudiating distortions of my record was too hard. HOWEVER, I can govern the United States because refudiating is now either easier or I am better at it.

Stupidity sells nearly as well as sex, so Palin still gets the talk show gigs. And Palin's obvious mental issues are good for attracting viewers. Palin seems unaware that she is being milked for her moronic spew. Her downward slide seems to be accelerating, however. She can't hit bottom fast enough for me.

She still doesn't get it, she does not get to dictate her narrative to the public, especially as an unknown wanting the second highest office in the land.

No matter who you supported in the 08 primary and general election races, everyone had a right to vett Sarah Palin, a little know Governor from the least populated yet oil rich State. Wanting to know who this person is does not make you an opposition research, it makes you a responsible, civic minded voter in this country.

It's obvious that Sarah Palin is not fit to run for President. What's important though, is that the candidate's financial backers and ghost writers, and puppeteers, and media can't and won't admit that. These are just as guilty as Sarah is.

Is it that media hasn't evolved in their attitude yet about vetting a delicate woman? As a woman with 5 pixie looking children, hockey mom, disarming charm. Are they still clingling to their gentlemenly graces, being charmed by a woman who might get the "vapors" and faint if they accuse her of too much?

I think the reason for the anger is that Sarah realizes that running for President is much harder than she imagined in her little 7 y/o magical world.

And since she has to blame someone...anyone...she's blaming the media for what is standard procedure. If it weren't for the media, in her mind, she could magically become President. Life is a fairy tale, didn't you know that? ((sarcasm))

Come on. How hard is it to see beyond appearances here? Yes, the media annoys her, even when asked simple questions because her incompetence can't help but be revealed. They don't roll over and adore her the way she wants everybody to, but let's not pretend this was even close to the main reason why she quit. The primary motivation of someone with this degree or narcissism is to be noticed by the world. After being trotted out on the national stage, she saw greener pastures, more opportunity for fame, $$$.

Who actually believes she went back to her sleepy post after the presidential campaign with the intention of staying there and trying to govern?

She likes to say she was "annoyed" because she thinks it lends her an aura of superiority to the interviewer and questions. She truly seems mentally ill.

  67. Anonymous11:06 AM

She was too oblivious? There's a lot more to that observation Sarah. You don't get to wake up one day and say you want to be an astronaut, a doctor or a lawyer. But if you want a leadership role, you can be a housewife with young kids - nothing wrong with that. But if you have a slim record - a troubling record at that, you have to be called to the mat and vetted.

People can't take your word for it that you are wired in such a way to lead this country. We need proof and we need a comfort level with you, your record and otherwise told life story narrative.

You could have capitalized with McCain asking you for such a coveted and unimaginable role so early in your political life. If you had said 'Thanks, but no thanks' to the VP slot on a campaign you did not earn, and finished out not just one, but two terms in the Governor's office, you could have leveraged these qualities for nationwide credibility.

That is assuming you would survive Troopergate and all the other ethical abuses you amass daily.

You didn't just want something for nothing, you wanted it all at all costs and without consequence or accountability.

This annoyed/injured attitude you wear on your sleeve is unbecoming a Mama Grizzly. Or is it a badger?

She is on the same level as the other tabloid media whores...Kate Gosselin, Lindsay Lohan, Gary Coleman's parents and ex wife, the list goes on. This is not a sane or serious human being.

With that said, losing to Obama is the best thing that ever happened to Sarah Palin. She should be kissing his feet...Sarah has made millions pandering to her base of delusional followers, playing to their fears and prejudices. Think about it, if she were VP she would make what, like $350K a year as opposed to $12 million, with her own TV show? Please, Sarah, spare us the faux outrage. If she were smart, she would film this TV show, go back to Alaska ans STFU.

Sarah should have enough money to comfortably retire, but she's not smart enough to. See Sarah, as long as you keep flapping your gums, people will still expose your secrets and lies. I expect she'll take you up on your suggestion just as soon as she releases Trig's birth certificate to set the record straight on that one too. Oh I forgot, she says she's already done that, so I guess she's also given all the interviews she needs to give to explain her policy positions.

Anything else we need to know can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Discovery Channel, and Faux News, which is just what we want from a serious politician. Communication on a 'need to know' basis, unfiltered by any pesky facts or alternative points of view.

Sarah Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It's funny that a comment like that was kinda made to … I don't know, you know … reporters.

    Couric: Mocked?

Palin: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

Couric: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

Palin: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia.

As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go?

    It's Alaska.

It's just right over the border.

It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

    AND:

Couric: You've said, quote, "John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business." Other than supporting stricter regulations of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years ago, can you give us any more example of his leading the charge for more oversight?

Palin: I think the example that you just cited, with his warnings two years ago about Fannie and Freddie - that, that's paramount.

Couric: But he's been in Congress for 26 years. He's been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.

Palin: He's also known as the maverick though, taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he's been talking about - the need to reform government.

Couric: But can you give me any other concrete examples? Because I know you've said Barack Obama is a lot of talk and no action. Can you give me any other examples in 26 years of John McCain truly taking a stand on this?

Palin: I can give you examples of things that John McCain has done, that has shown his foresight, his pragmatism, and his leadership abilities. And that is what America needs today.

Couric: I'm just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

  100. I also did my research to learn about McCain's VP pick like anyone who seeks to make an informed decision. The accusations that Obama personally lol "parachuted in his operatives" invalidates reality that journalists did their jobs to learn about her and inform the public.

What we learned was that Palin's roll out and her self proclaimed narrative was the antithesis of her real record with the exception of having a large family.
She indeed was angry Steve Schmidt would not authorize a whopper lie Todd was not a member of the ssecessionist group. As Sschmidt said in an interview one does not simply lie about things that are easily discovered as a lie.

IMO the McCAin team went out on a limb for Palin from shielding her from the press, refusing interviews, providing a small army of personnel so she appear her best and all of her family including the baby's daddy.

In Palin's disturbed mind she is who and what she says, lies at any time and not what she has done nor her husband or offspring. Any person who does not echo i.e. repeat her personal lies is an identified enemy she perceives as 'attacking" her and an agenda to "destroy her", Todd, "the family". The clue phone is what has been ringing..not a "bell" her sick mind perceives for she must "win" at all costs. The clue phone rings to alert us that lying, repeating small to whopping lies, spewing lies about others, controlling truth not be known and lies rule, dominate, to "win" who is honest via lying about other people is what destroys families.
Palin has vindictive rage seseking revenge in her twisted world to destroy anyone who will nor repeat her lies. This is not "defending her record". What Palin felt entitled to was to lie habitually and others go along with the lies being nothing more but an echo of her. Palin's habitual lying is verbal manipulation to win i.e. get what she wants and she has no intention to seek personal gain in conventional ways e.g. learning bassic info asbout government, geography, fulfilling her term as Gov being the best Gov she can be. Nope, she can just lie, fabricate false claims, tell countless small lies normal people don't lie about.

Palin's narrative (which changes often) is like a bubble and fact to hre fiction is like sticking a pin in her bubble she perceives as "destroying her"

She can fool some of the people but not all.

it must suck to have been on the McCain team..and all they got in return were fictional lies. She "won" making herself the victim of others and shall continue her MO.

I too would like to see unedited footage of the Couric interviews. I truly believe they did "give her chances".

I agree that if anyone was really edited to control they appear an idiot or guilty falsely of a wrongdoing..a true victim would seek justice to have truth be known and accept offers for interviews. Palin is a master game player seeking to "win" which requires her destroying people, hiding, spewing lies, ruthless demands others repeat her lies. Those are her terms.

She would start a war and have no guilt or regret how many people died if it got her to the Whitehouse. She only gains or wins at other people's expense. After she wins she discards people when no longer useful.

I have also come to appreciate President Obama, especially when I consider what we would have been stuck with otherwise. An angry, erratic old man who would sell his soul just to win an election and a clueless, hateful numbskull just a 73-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency would have put this country in even worse shape.

This is the icing on the cake, because it underscores her inability to take responsibility for her own actions, her thin-skinned defensiveness, and her well-earned reputation for being a first-class liar. All these are on top of her legendary ignorance and incendiary rhetoric.

If the morons who still think she would be a good president still can't see that someone with so many deficits should never be in elective office again, there is no hope for them. If she quit for this reason (which keeps changing over and over), what makes them think she would be able to stand up to the demands of being president?

They can't defend her record, so they resort to childish insults which show they are as silly and immature as she is.

I can't even count the number of times they have tried to demonstrate a transparently false equivalency between our president and Palin.Aside from his demonstrably superior education and knowledge of this country, he was on the campaign trail 622 days
before the election, while she was out there a mere 67 days. During his time on the campaign trail, he was analyzed from top to bottom, while she got a relatively free pass. Of course, when she opened her mouth, she sealed her own fate.

Every blunder, lie, and misstatement reveals exactly what she would do as president, and the much higher stakes involved would make for a much more disastrous outcome than what happened to Alaskans, as bad as THAT was.

  102. I think her resignation speech and interviews such as this one ought to be front and center of the campaign against her if she runs.

As Gryphen points out Sarah Palin has said variations of "I quit because the media made Alaska ungovernable" several times in black and white that she can't deny.

If she couldn't govern Alaska due to the intense media scrutiny, there is no hope of her being able to govern the entire country. The scrutiny she is under now will only get worse if she runs for President.

Say what you will about George W Bush, but he could take the media while still governing this country. I didn't like the way he governed the country but no media outlet or set of bloggers could dislodge him. Not as Governor of Texas and not through two terms as President of the United States.

In every debate she should be asked why she thinks being President will be different. Republican Presidential candidates should agree to take a "I won't quit if elected" oath.

As long as the opposition stays within the public record and doesn't lean on anonymous sources, Palin's record of quitting several colleges should be fair game too.

YouTube videos with ominous music should be made with slides saying ...

    She quit in college.
She quit as Governor of the second least populous state of the Union.
Now she wants to be President.

We need leaders, not a quitter.

All this can be done without going into her personal life or that of her family. Let Limbaugh and Beck try to defend her quitterhood instead waxing with hypocritical indignation over the personal attacks.

    I'm just saying.

  103. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

    FYI $arah:

comes from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act III, scene II.

The phrase has come to mean that one can "insist so passionately about something not being true that people suspect the opposite of what one is saying."

The phrase is often misquoted as "Methinks the lady doth protest too much." and is commonly used in the second person as "Methinks thou dost protest too much."

Furthermore, the above meaning is based on a misunderstanding of the meaning of the word "protest" as it was used in Shakespeare's day, as the "protest" of the lady is not a protest in the modern sense of the word, but an affirmation or avowal.

    Wikipedia

This describes $arah's bloviating to a tee.

    Avowal:
a declaration that is made emphatically (as if no supporting evidence were necessary)
