Somebody IS watching out for the kids. Sarah Palin biography written for children has been shelved "indefinitely."

From TPM:

Earlier this week, we told you about a Christian book publisher's plan for a Sarah Palin biography aimed at children. The book was scheduled to be released in September, and the publisher, Zondervan, had already put together promotional material on its website. Now, just days after a flurry of publicity about the book, Zondervan has shelved the project.

The book's would-be author, Kim Washburn, told TPM that the book had been "delayed indefinitely" as of yesterday.

"The book has been delayed. Books get delayed all of the time in publishing as we move books around," Pam Mettler, Associate Director of Public Relations for Zonderkidz, told TPM. Mettler would not say if Zondervan plans to publish the book in the future, or why it was delayed.

I wonder if perhaps somebody threatened to charge the publisher with child abuse if they went ahead with the book?

After all it is bad enough what Sarah has done to her own children, without having her poison ingested by innocent children all over the country.

The delay probably has to do with the fact that Bristol is preggers and/or Trig's true mother is about to be announced. Very curious. Many things happening now.

ummm...it's probably shelved because as the publishers floated the content of the book, peeps said "thanks bu no thanks" on that crappy book!

When it rains is pours at the Palin compound. I am sure Sarah will find a way to make money off of Bristol instead. Mama Grizzly indeed!

"Sarah Palin: A New Kind Of Leader"
I can't wait until they detail how she leads and where she is taking the lemmings.
Is it possible Zondervan are among the Christians with their sanity intact? Or was this a financial decision?

I agree with the first poster - the truth about Trig is about to be revealed.

She will play Mama Grizzly and claim she did it to protect the children.

People want to know what happened to the first TriG? Where did he go? Was he swapped for the DS baby? FAS is not as good a platform as DS.

I think that palin got pissy that someone was going to make a favorable book about her and she wasn't in on any of the profits.

methinks they got a letter from flea bag.

Zondervan Publishing is tied to Harper-Collins which is tied of News Corp which is owned by Murdoch.

Murdoch owns Fox News Network through News Corp. He is also Sarah's primary backer.

Christian values? Not there at least. Certainly not with Sarah Palin.

I have to say, this news makes my day. I am so relieved and even happy to hear about this indefinite postponement. Whatever the strategy, I am glad someone decided this bucket of whitewash is being shelved.

Even before today's news, why the heck would they think Sarah is a good mother?!!!! On another note,
Gryphen, have you ever met Levi? I saw a picture of you at Mercede's graduation and wondered if he was there too.

Whatever the reason, its good news.

The good news just keeps on coming - that other lunatic from Minnesota, Michele Bachmann, just lost her 5th chief of staff in 3 1/2 years, along with her campaign finance director.

    Here's a brief story:

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) must be really hard to work for -- even staffers who seem to do a good job end up leaving.

As Politico reported, Bachmann's chief of staff Ron Carey, a former Minnesota GOP chairman, has now become the fifth chief of staff to quit Bachmann's office during her mere three and a half years in Congress. A previous chief of staff had quit just this past November, and Carey was hired to be the new chief in February.

In addition, Bachmann's campaign finance director Zandra Wolcott left the campaign, too. Think about this: Bachmann's fundraising has been great. In the last quarter she raised a whopping $1.7 million. Her Democratic opponent Tarryl Clark only raised $910,000 -- which by itself would have been impressive in this Midwestern district, but paled in comparison to Bachmann. And still, the staffers keep coming and going.

The Naval Observatory is NOT the White House.

The book is shelved until Sarah Palin announces her own run for the Presidency.

THEN the subtitle will be accurate... and all the media pundits will want the author on their shows to promote the book and themselves as far-sighted.

But--but--who will teach the wide-eyed li'l tykes proper grifting techniques? And fancy pageant walkin' for the Toddler Pageant crowd?

I agree--something is up, but maybe it has to do with the negative reaction to her Big Bad Mama Grizzly video mess, and recent events that prove she can't even manage her OWN children.

I don't know if it is just speculation or if there is any truth to it, but I read in the comments of another blog (I can't remember where, sorry) which ran this same story that the reason for the delay is because Zondervan is a small publisher and cannot meet the high demand for the books. Apparently, they are looking for a larger publisher who can. Also, that they are planning to put the books out closer to Christmas season. Again, I don't know how true this is.

On a different note, here is an interesting story about SP and the true level of her "support":

I've read some speculation that the publishers are putting the book on hold because SP is demanding that they share the profits with her. In fact, unauthorized biographies don't require the subject's permission or input, and the subject cannot demand profits from the sale of the books. It is also quite difficult to stop someone from publishing a biography. So, I doubt very much if this would be a reason for the delay in publication.

  15. Whatever the reason, I am glad. There are wonderful people out there who would make much better role models for children.

The book cover is a lie, as someone as already pointed out.

She didn't run for the WH--yet.

Before we get excited, isn't her contract with Harper (Murdoch) for 3 books? Wouldn't this fluff have counted as 1 of them? I think that "delayed" is a better description. If she announces a run for 2012, title/content becomes more dramatic.

I've been googling this story for the past several hours and have not found any mention of this story anywhere else on the internet. Is this story possible a hoax?

Books are not delayed indefinitely "all the time." Books are sometimes delayed, but never without a reason, especially if the publisher has already spent money on promotion and has a buzz going. Something's up. Either they tried to sell the book in and received lukewarm interest from the accounts (bookstores) or the writer walked away from the project for some reason.

Can we shelve the hillbillies from Wasilla indefinitely?

  21. They probably didn't figure it would pay. After all, it's not like school or public libraries would be ordering it in droves for their collection.

This book was not by Sarah. She wasn't involved at all. So maybe Van Fleabag sent a threatening letter to them about publishing it. That's my guess.

  23. Zondervan must have loads of good money to throw after bad--they published Kate Gosselin's "I Want You To Know" earlier this year and it was a piece of junk destined for remainder tables the day it dropped. Maybe they decided that they'd spent this year's budget for fake mothers.**

**I don't deny that Kate gave birth to her children, but since before the six were born, she's been trying to capitalize on them. Eight Little Bags of Cash is what I call them.

Zondervan is a very big piece of cheese. Probably the best positioned Christian publisher in the market. Entirely capable of publishing/promoting such a book and making it go viral/national.

I find it very significant that they are passing over this book, obviously finding it unacceptable.

It must be the content, it must be a criticism of Palin herself. . .I am thinking that Zondervan doesn't find Palin's propectus up to their high standards.

Otherwise, they would just publish it for the money and run. After all, they could just piggy back the book tour onto the SarahPAC appearances, at very little cost.

Their competitor is Thomas Nelson. Lynn Vincent, the ghost writer of "Going Rogue" is employed by them.

Notable, too, that no mention has been made of Thomas Nelson potentially publishing this book, considering the connection.

Perhaps the Red Sea is parting, leaving SarahPharoah high and dry.

Not even Christian publishers of high standard are willing to touch her, even with the promise of a quick buck to be made?

I vote for the Van Flea letter as well. Sarah isn't getting a cut from this possibly unauthorized biography.

At least the letter would cover the embarrassment if there just wasn't enough interest being generated.

Whatever the reason to "move books around" "all of the time," I bet financial potential is a biggie.

  27. Anonymous7:43 PM

anon @4:31, while the capacity of the publisher is a plausible reason, why not just say so? seems odd that they didn't and odder still that the actual reasons given (delays because books are moving around) don't quite mesh with the small publisher meme.

Maybe they just don't think all that highly of Sarah Palin as a Christian.

Well if it weren't a half white and half black book, it would not market well and would raise questions and probable criticism.

Most publishers of children's books are looking at schools and librarys as a large part of their purchashers, and going with the white half doesn't work as well as it used to.

So the number of non whites, even native Alaskans, other than Todd and his children, would be exactly what, in a ghosted book about Sarah?
