Screw Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, the real threat to this country is going to come from babies!

From TPM:

Last night, Anderson Cooper hosted none other than Rep.Louie Gohmert (R-TX), the main propagator in Congress of the "terror babies" conspiracy theory -- an alleged diabolical 20- to 30-year plot by terrorists to have babies born in the United States, then taken abroad and trained as terrorists before eventually returning here as U.S. citizens (thanks to birthright citizenship) to commit heinous crimes.

Gohmert previously went to the House floor in June and warned about this evil plan, saying he had heard about it from an unnamed former FBI agent. Then on Wednesday night this week, Cooper hosted an actual former FBI official, who explained that there are no reports of this at all.

Boy somebody had more than their allotted amount of Koo Koo Puffs this morning!

For the complete serving of crazy you can watch the entire interview here:

What exactly is in the water in Texas?

Hey hey now, Gryphen. I live in Fort Worth, TX and I assure you that we're not all crazy loonies like Mr. LoonyGohmert here. Nothing is in the water, although I must admit that I'm puzzled by some of my co-Texans' political views. I think it has to do with upbringing. This is the South, after all.

I was sure this was about Bristol and all the Wasilla babies that will be in the Senate in a few more years.

  5. I have lived in TX for over 20+ years. There is a naivety towards realism. People believe what is spoken to them on the radio, in the pulpit or daily newspaper. The term "taken with a grain of salt" doesn't compute.

I had a beautician tell me the other day that she heard it from an IRS agent that our families could inherit our uncollected Social Security. Now mind you she is turning 62,,,I tried to explain to her about no beneficiary clause and that a younger person is working so that we may retire. I'm sure I wasted my breath.

The GOP is sick...as in the sickest person controls the family.
I apologize for the TX nut cases...and I have seen a whole lot of suits toting guns on their hips around NASA.

Didn't the russians try this and we made it into a movie with Kevin Costner called "No Way Out?"
Gene Hackman, also , too and Sean Young. Uri/Tom, double agent. Good flick.

  7. Frankly, there IS a gaping hole that I'm worried about and feel we need to plug. It's the one in Gohmert Pyle's face.

    Hey!I am from Texas!
We are not all like that!
There are 12 or 13 other normal people here.We do stick pretty close.
I am lucky to live in Dallas where I can find some safety and comfort with like-minded people but it must be very hard for our friends in the small towns.
I think it is really fear of Mexican people becoming the majority .Of course the wealthy folks keep hiring the undocumented workers because the work hard cheap labor and won't complain about being mistreated.
I like President Obama's plan on immigration.

This 'plot' scenario has been played out many times since the cold war with Russia in the 60's. The best example is an old 1970's movie starring Charles Bronson and Lee Remick called 'Telefon'.

Is this (current) plot any more bizarre than the one about planting spies in the US to learn how to fly and then hijack commercial planes to use as bombs on the White House and Pentagon?

I'm not saying this guy isn't a nutjob. But let's hope that in 30 years time we have better relations with the middle east...

Trust me. I am in Texas. Louie Gohmert is only thought to be sane by those who voted for him. Most others think he is touched in the head.

TMZ is reporting Levi and Bristol reached a custody agreement. (I can't post link.). Nothing like a muzzle on the Johnston family.

Poor Tripp, he has uneducated hillbillies for parents. I don't like to call people names but this is ridiculous.

  14. Oh come on Gryphen, saying that there is "something in the water in Texas" is akin to how we Alaskans are judged by those outside. Many think that there is "something in the water" up here as we all are judged by the few crazy residents the make the news.

He totally lost it, but this is exactly what the American people need to know about the current crop of republicans in Congress. I am so glad that Anderson Cooper emphasized that Gohmert had no evidence to support his stupid conspiracy, and that we all want America to be safe. I'm tired of the republicans in Congress claiming that only they can keep this country safe. President Obama has killed or captured more terrorists in 18 months than G. W. Bush did in 8 years. Maybe some in the media have finally decided to perform their role of informing the public of where the parties stand on the issues after the Shirley Sherrod debacle.

Gohmert forgot that he wasn't on Fuchs Noose. I noticed that when he couldn't bamboozle Cooper, he decided to bring on the faux outrage and out talk him. This was thoroughly enjoyable.

I can't disagree with your assessment that this man is nutso, but cut him some slack. He IS, afterall, a southern baptist from bible-belt *east* Texas. ;-)

Regarding his conspiracy theory, however.... stranger things have happened all in the name of furthering one's own ambitions regarding selective breeding and/or training of said group.

Lebensborn, for example, is something unheard of in many American households, yet historically true - stemming out of WWII Germany.

Oh -- and what's in the water down here? I suppose it's something that Sarah is sharing with Govn'a Hair! :-)

What is in Texas's water? MTBE- that crap in gasoline that has contaminated all the drinking water down there. Now we know it also causes delusions and hallucinations besides cancer.
