Joe Miller faces $50,000 fine for failing to file his personal finance disclosure form. I believe his definition of transparency is the same as his puppeteer Sarah Palin's.

From Think Progress:

Sarah Palin-backed Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller (R-AK), who defeated incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in the primary in August, skyrocketed to power partially by demanding more transparency and ethics in Washington. In his 12-point campaign promise, Miller says he will “end czar layer of government” that “clouds transparency in government.” Miller’s campaign endorsement page features Alaskans praising him for having higher ethics and a greater commitment to transparency.

However, ThinkProgress contacted the Senate Ethics Committee and the Senate Office of Public Records yesterday and discovered that Miller has not filed a personal finance disclosure as a candidate for the U.S. Senate, as required by law. According to Title I of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 and Senate Rule 41.1, candidates for U.S. Senate must file a disclosure form within 30 days of raising or spending $5,000. According to the Federal Elections Committee, Miller raised well over $5,000 as early as April of this year. Asked again today by ThinkProgress if Miller has filed his personal finance disclosure, or has contacted the Senate Office of Public Records with any request for an extension to file, a staffer with the Office responded:

“We haven’t received anything from him. He hasn’t sent us anything.”

According to law, “failure to file or report information required to be reported by section 102 of the Act may subject” Miller — a Yale Law School graduate — to a “civil penalty of not more than $50,000 and to disciplinary action by the Select Committee on Ethics and/or any other appropriate authority.” As of today, Miller is at least five months late with his disclosures.

It is one ethical violation after another with this guy!  This cannot be the person that Alaskans want to send to Washington to represent our great state.

If you are living in Alaska, please make sure that you are going to vote in November, and tell your friends to register to vote as well.  And then drive them t othe poling booth if you have too!

The only way such a terribly flawed candidate like this can be elected is if those of us with half a brain stay home and let it happen.

This is your chance to send somebody to the Senate to represent you who....well who REALLY represents you!  This is our chance to show the world we have learned our lesson and will NEVER elect another Sarah Palin type to an important political office.  For me personally that is all the motivation I require to get me to the polls at the crack of dawn.

Won't you please join me?

And, make sure that they don't vote for Murkowski! I am so afraid that due to all the negative stuff coming out about Miller, that will assure Lisa being put in Congress. REMEMBER, she always voted as the 'party of no' and will be of absolutely no help to Alaska should she win the write in. And, don't forget that she is owned by the oil companies and lobbyists.

We could wake up to such a nightmare at the end of this mess.

  4. So the rich folks pick a candidate who is dumb, broke and easy to manipulate.

They pile money on top of him and defend him against any legal tangles.

Then basically they have bought their own personal representative in the US government.

    Wash, rinse, repeat.

Joe doesn't want all his millions of tea party funds to be discussed after Palin whined about Lisa's 1 million. Joe is already in the pocket of a Koch. What's the going rate for a senatorial candidate these days?

He probably never expected to win. You would think his campaign manager would make sure all documents were properly filed.

That said, two words: Tom Geithner. I have no faith in law enforcement when it comes to politicians.

Attached is a link to an article about Miller and his purchase of a low-income hunting and fishing license. Amazing

Quitter Gov also spewed the same empty words of 'being transparent' in her campaigns. The same Quitter who hid all her emails, her unaccountable Gov First Dude and everything else like Dairygate and the long list of 'gates'.

You've walked down this road before AK. Don't fall for it again

I've just been wondering, is "Joe Miller" this guys actual real name?

Are we sure? He just doesn't "look" like a Joe Miller.

"SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE" again...

Some people like to say FU to all the rules and rulemakers they do not like also too.

Either Joe didn't read the rules, or... does he have a dog to blame?

Maybe you are not from Alaska and can't vote for someone other than Joe Miller in this Senate race.

Look at the races that you have a vote in. Any teabaggers in the running? Did you check them out?

It is getting easier- just check the same details that have tripped up other teabaggers -like Miller, Angle, O'Donnell and so on.

Government subsidies criticized? They may be taking them!

Campaign paper work filed as required?- federal races US House& Senate have uniform Federal rules. Or call your Democratic candidate and ask what documents they have to file- then check the same for the teabagger. Post on the internetz so what you find may be checked by others.

Does your teabagger claim to strictly follow what is in the Constitution? That is probably why Joe hasn't filed- IT IS NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION! (And he probably suspects these reports are read by muslim czars with government medicaid health insurance and indigent hunting licenses!!)

It is time to find out what the voters are voting for- before the voters vote. ( If your teabagger is known to attend hoedowns- that might be a warning sign too.)

You can do it. Fox News won't- and neither will your local political reporters. ( They have all been fired to save money.)

So Joe Miller hasn't got this little detail taken care of. Not really a surprise- what would Sarah do?

There is a possible discrepancy with the reports of Joe Miller's work history also too.

Compare the linkedin profile with the Anchorage Daily News story.

Did Joe go from clerking at the law firm to an internship with the state- and then to hired (as a newly minted attorney) at the law firm? It is not clear.

He had to finish the YALE LAW degree before working for law firm Condon Partnow & Sharrock from 1995 to 1998. Did he work for them in 1994 in addition?

He was working on oil and gas issues according to some reports.

Considering he wants the state to take control of federal lands and develop them (drill-mine) maybe he met some people that will help him if he is elected.

He is a lawyer, but doesn't think the law applies to him. Right.

Either he lied on the fishing licenses, or he lied on his mortgage, or both. Those financial documents, IF he ever gets around to filing them, will be a tissue of lies. A used tissue.

Shouldn't a candidate be eliminated from the ballot if they have deliberately FAILED to file ALL REQUIRED documents? If they can ignore these requirements, why should anybody bother to put the effort into getting the information together, verified, and filed?

BTW, he probably declared only $8,000 on his income tax, too, if he would lie on a fishing license.
