From Boston & Beyond.Now:
It may have been a sign of a conservative candidate moving to the center before a general election. Or maybe Massachusetts Republicans and former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin really just don't get along.
State Representative Jeffrey D. Perry of Sandwich, who aligned himself with the Tea Party movement in a successful effort to win the Republican nomination in the 10th Congressional district, said in a television interview today he did not want the erstwhile Alaska governor and fellow Tea Party star campaigning for him this fall.
"I don't want her to come down," Perry said. "She's an entertainer."
Asked what he would say if Palin requested to come to Massachusetts to stump for him, Perry said, "I'm going to say no."
Gee perhaps I have been too hard on the Teabagger approved candidates. At least THIS one seems to understand Sarah Palin's game.
Not so fast, Gryphen:

He's just following Scott Brown's game - take their money and then say thanks but no thanks. The only Tea Party recognized in Massachusetts is the one held in 1773.
ReplyDeleteI saw this remark on a show titled "Braude Beat" on New England Cable News.
ReplyDeletePerry is running for Senator Scott Brown's seat in Massachusetts 10th Congressional District.
Pay back for Sarah's remark on Fox Business News (Aug. 27, 2010)
In an interview with Fox Business News that mostly focused on the Alaska Republican Senate primary, Palin railed on Republicans that go along with the "herd mentality" by supporting what she called the "Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda." The host asked, "Is Scott Brown on notice?"
"That's Massachusetts and perhaps they're not going to look for such a hard-core constitutional conservative there, and they're going to put up with Scott Brown and some of the antics there," Palin said. "But up here in Alaska and so many places across the U.S. where we have a pioneering independent spirit and we have an expectation that our representatives in D.C. will respect the will of the people and the intelligence of the people. Well up here wouldn't stand for that."
I have a quote for you, Gryphen:

Correction to my remark about the Mass. congressional district Perry is running in:
ReplyDeleteIt is an adjacent congressional district (10th) to that held by Scott Brown (9th).
Both are cut from the same cloth--politically speaking that is.
The link in the first comment was cut off. I notice that the comment system does that. Is this the right link? If so, eeeewwwww....

4:53, you do realize that ALL POLITICS, left, right, center, and crazy is based on generalizations.
ReplyDeletelike the one the right keeps spouting about dems being socialists. remember that?
Of course now Sarah will have to denounce him. How DARE he have a brain??!!

How the fuck does a town get the name "Sandwich"...
What, a bunch of guys sitting around saying, ok, what are we gonna name this here little town?
Somebody pipes up, "Hey, I'm hungry, anybody got a sandwich"...
and sombody else says "I second that"...
and sombody else says "yeah, thats the ticket, lets name it sandwich"...
Obviously they didn't have homeless people back then.

ReplyDeleteAs with many New England towns, the names are from the towns in England from which the colonist came. Also there are many place names taken from Native American.
Sandwich, Kent, England, a seaport town. Sandwich is on Cape Cod.
Massachusetts is from the Algonquin language meaning "People of the Big Hill."
Sandwich,in England,as in the Earl of Sandwich, who is credited for creating the "sandwich".
ReplyDeleteOne thing that is amazing about Miller is that, if he is Yale Law School graduate, how can he stomach someone as intellectually vacuous as Palin?
ReplyDeleteIs he that intellectually dishonest, that dumb or just that much of a political prostitute?
Perry is still a weiner. He has admitting he lied as a police officer. He was passed over for promotion for that. Not someone I'd vote for.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is the same district which was represented by the first openly gay congressman, Garry Studds. He was the first congressman I voted for. Not so conservative as that, though there are a strong group of Teabaggers ( including my grandfather, perish the thought.)
