It is time for Sarah Palin to take responsibilty for the hatred and threats of violence coming from her supporters!

Andrew Sullivan weighs in on the Frontiersman report of death threats directed toward the young man that sent Sarah Palin, Kristan Cole, John McCain, and President Obama death threats.:
Palin bears no direct responsibility for this, in my view, and has done nothing wrong. But this story does reveal some of the virulence and anger and violence that lies beneath what has become a political cult. And her public statements that someone like Joe McGinnis may be a sexual threat to her children or is a "freak" and her constant invocation of victimhood are not helpful in this kind of incendiary context.

This woman commands forces out there that are truly terrifying and violent. If you want to know why so much about her is still unknown, you do not understand the fear her followers and acolytes command in her native Alaska. That fear is real; and it is not without reason.

I am a big fan of Andrew Sullivan but I am going to have to respectfully disagree with his assessment that Sarah "bears no direct responsibility" for these threats.

As I pointed out in my follow up post about this restraining order, Sarah CHOSE to make public statements through her lawyer painting this very sick young man as somebody who makes her fear for her life. ("Bottom line is, he is crazy and could kill me," Palin said, according to the court transcript. "He wants me dead.")

Plain knew FULL well that once her Palin-bots heard that they would start frothing at the mouth and go on the attack.  She has stoked the fires of this vicious hatred many times before.

Sarah Jones, from Politicususa, closely matches my opinion of Palin's responsibility for this incredible aggression from her fans:

The Right’s argument will be that anyone who dares to point out facts in this case hates Sarah Palin and deserves to die a death only fit for liberal. They’ve gotten the entire Right wing blogosphere crazy enough to be threatening to kill someone and using their IP addresses to do so. Apparently, they don’t understand why it matters that neither President Obama or John McCain have vigilantes out to take “justice” into their own disturbed hands. And of course Ms Palin herself has not bothered to set the record straight or throw water on the her fan’s flames of unmitigated and unregulated rage. She is an exceptionally irresponsible “leader”. The entire nation needs a civil restraining order from Palin fans, and I dare say, from Palin rhetoric.

It is time to stop giving Palin a pass for the vicious responses coming from her supporters, the people we call Palin-bots.  She uses her Facebook and Twitter account to herd them around like sheep, so she is ultimately responsible for when they get out of control and threaten others with bodily harm or fill their e-mail in-boxes with hate speech.

As the Frontiersman pointed out, the people who threatened Christy were not threatening him on behalf of John McCain or President Obama, they threatened to kill him on Sarah Palin's behalf.  And they did so to protect her from a threat that law enforcement officials, and even the Secret Service, deemed too inconsequential to require that he be charged with a crime.

I call on Sarah Palin to take that constantly present Blackberry of hers and tweet out a message telling her followers to stand down, after all she felt she had the power to tell the entire Islamic religion to stand down, so surely she can tell the idiots that follow her to do the same.

We are waiting Ms. Palin.  When will you finally take responsibility for the violence you inspire?

  1. I wrote asbout his yesterday, after your earlier post. In the comments, a woman notes how she lost her job in Wasilla yesterday, just for giggling about a flower arrangement for the Palin/Miller 9/11 sleaze fest. Took 'em a few weeks, but they got her.

You're right - Sullivan backs off from the core of the truth on this.

Her promotion of lies and violence started during the '08 campaign. No one in the MSM called her on it or made her responsible and it has just escalated from there.

I still believe that she is a smoke screen for something or someone else and as long as we keep focused on every little thing she does, the plan is working. Instead, I wish someone would mount a series of ads with ONE issue at a time: such as the conservative viewpoint pushed over and over that she is such a fiscal conservative. Did she not leave both Wasilla and Alaska in debt? I think an ad or tweet that says Palin spent three thousand dollars on Spanks in six weeks might be a hoot!!!
I think the ads should be short, simple and hard hitting_much like Grayson's. Fight fire with fire.

Sarah has accute, selective hearing. She doesn't hear "Kill him" at her rallies when she's snarking on the front-runner of the opposition party - but she 'hears' some kids yelling (We can't hear you!) at an outdoor event and she decides to take them out (cause they must be haters if they aren't just applauding her every word) by saying that troops are dying to protect their right to protest her.

She doesn't come to the aid of the mentally challenged woman executed in Virginia, she calls this pathetic little boy 'crazy' and doesn't offer the very obvious help he needs but labels him in a way that will sic her bots on him and his Christian homeschooling family.

She is a morally reprehensible, agitating and caustic bitch who is a danger to herself and others.

I feel so badly for the family & friends of Mr. Christy.

I have a friend who got in trouble for making similar threats to Bush, Cheney & a foreign dignitary. He was mentally ill. As long as he's in treatment he's no threat, and he's a very, very sweet man. Not someone who should go around with a bulls-eye on his back.

I agree with the other posters. Palin connects with the mob mentality of her fans. I'm sure she secretly enjoys that many want to hunt down this guy like an animal. The kid needs mental help and due process of the law.

I give the Frontiersman credit for trying to set the record straight. As for Sullivan, I say everyone has a right to their opinion. However I know the crazy element she stirred up here in Ohio. The woman is vile.

The President, VP, etc. receive threats every day. We rarely hear about them because appropriate action is taken (usually they receive help and go back on their meds). We never learn their names and their privacy is respected. It is so disgusting what Palin did to this young man and his family.

  20. Anon. 9:56AM.... When a person operates in angers and hates, they open themselves to demonic power. They become very evil and violent to anyone who cross them, even their own children. Look into her eyes and any of the tea partiers eyes, you'll see there is something in them that is scary. You don't have to be a Christian to see it. They hide behind the title Christian to deceive those who are blind. I wonder how her church caught on fire. Why so many people afraid of her.

I call her Jezebel, because the Biblical character was evil like Sarah. She was out to kill and destroy all of God servant. Todd is so much like Ahad, he allow his wife to do his dirty work. Jezebel had an innocent man killed for not giving his property to Ahad. I see Jezebel in Sarah... Jezebel had a seduction spirit, like Sarah using her push up bra. Todd like Ahad, sit back while Sarah do all the talking. Some people wonder if Todd knew how to talk.

Levi and his family is walking on thin ice. He not fighting back because it can cost him & his family life. Bristol didn't leave her condo on her own... I believe got shaken up by her mother. I know she didn't plan to wear that miss piggy dress at DWTS... You can tell it was a last minute outfit. The top was pinned on the shoulder and bottom was added.... You are right, she do look scary...

Does Sarah Palin have a problem with teen boys? Levi, David Kernell, now this one? Again, Mr. Christy may be dangerous and she should have protection, but why always young teen boys? Coincidence?

Why would Sarah's lawyer allow this to leak out, or this one event to be revealed to the public? How many others who may have posed any danger, but why this teenager?

It strikes me that this was some kind of political move - for what reason I don't know. Maybe she was angry at the booing last week, and in her infantile mind, she needed a dose of adoration and pity. So she preys on one lone teenager. It sounds like this kid comes from a low-income family and wouldn't have funds to travel or be any great threat.

Sounds very fishy to me. And, yes, Sarah's words are harsh. She doesn't care if they affect others, but as soon as they start to affect her, she screams "victim!".

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous11:04 AM

If Sarah wants to be known as a Christian, she needs to finally start acting like one.

Words are not sufficient. Actions speak louder than words, and her actions are not those of a true Christian.

She needs to demonstrate true compassion, true empathy, true forgiveness, and true humility.

Sure, Christians are just human, flawed like the rest of us, but she claims to be an uber-Christian and her followers see no flaws in her. However, you'd expect some demonstration of these traits, some sincere, quiet and non-ego-bound response.

Sarah apparently lacks the ability to be a humble servant, and that's just tragically sad - for her, her family and for those who blindly follow her. She has never used her public position to be an example of a follower for Christ, and probably never will because she is not one who understands how to live a humble, grateful life.

Perhaps it is this that is her lesson in life. If she fails to embrace it, she will have failed her faith.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous11:11 AM

Sarah doesn't understand the concept of responsibility. If she did, she would not have quit halfway through her commitment as Governor. If she did, she would not abandon her children to follow and feed her ego. If she did, Native Alaskans might not have suffered so under her tenure.

If she understood responsibility, she would not have left Wasilla in deep debt. If she understood, she would have paid for her own clothing rather than have that protracted farce with the RNC. By the time the campaign was over, she knew she was going to be earning big money and could have quietly worked out a payment plan with the RNC.

Sarah and the concept of responsibility are strangers to one another.

She doesn't care about anyone else. If she did, she would indeed accept responsibility for the heinous threats and acts of her followers - telling them she was ashamed of their misplaced passion and she would not use language so carelessly that merely whips up hate and unrest. No, Sarah does not care so she does not understand responsibility.

She needs to grow up and accept responsibility for the consequences of the words she says and the responsible things she fails to do.

Sarah's speeches have been based on the Mean Girl from High School Model. She is very good at issuing the kind of slurs that make people want to stick with her so that they aren't on the receiving end of the insults. George W. Bush was another person who was good at mean spirited remarks.

Mean girls (and boys) have become much more dangerous, thanks to the lightening speed that gossip can be spread on the internet. A kid asks for the dorm room and privacy, and then is filmed by his roommate having a homosexual encounter. It drove the poor young man to suicide. In good old days there may have been whispers, even a gossip campaign. Today, the results are much more dangerous. And, there have been many examples of cyber-bullying with tragic consequences.

When Sarah "unleashed the Hounds of Hell," according to Joe McGinniss, she is tapping into a very powerful for of hatred. Their campaigns are well organized and provoked. Gryphen knows all too well what a well orchestrated hate campaign can do. Sarah must be silently applauding her "fans," but she takes not personal responsibility of the consequences of her words. And, Sarah was the first to say, when it was someone else who crossed the line, that there must be consequence. The problem is that there never are any consequences for Sarah.

Palin sails her little boat of hate, jealousy, and victimhood, and leaves in her wake hate and anger multiplied by a factor of thousands.

When she looks back over her shoulder at that multiplied hate, she says "That's not my fault."

A leader is defined by her followers -- and Palin's nasty followers speak volumes about her: fear and hate-monger of the lowest order.

She will never take responsibility for her followers because they are doing exactly what she wants them to do.

Maybe she is mad about betting booed on DWTS and needs to bask in the admiration of some of her sick followers.

Sarah Palin likes to play the victim, and this instance is no exception. Her lemmings fall for it every time. On one forum, one of her bozo fans likes to accuse me, a black woman, of hating her because she is supposed to be the epitome of American womanhood. He is from Alaska and he posts under different monikers. This vitriol is in direct response to the justified criticism she gets from those who see her exactly for who and what she is. But he is very typical of her lemmings who have shouted out at the 2008 rallies where she stirred up hate. He is typical also of those who directed death threats against Joe McGinnis, and now, Christy. I can only wonder what these fools would do if she runs for president and loses.

As far as taking responsibility for her actions is concerned, I wouldn't hold my breath. She still hasn't admitted that she was a big factor in why John McCain lost his second bid for the presidency, nor has she taken responsibility for the role she played in her incendiary rallies during the 2008 campaign. Heck, she doesn't even take responsibility for the shenanigans of her 3 older kids.

I can only hope that not only wholesale rejection of the candidates she has endorsed, but being soundly defeated should she run for president, will finally get it through her thick skull that most people don't like her or what she stands for.

Sarah Palin is a martyr. She thinks that she is a good person and that she is misunderstood for her "good deeds." She does not see beyond herself, nor is she sympathetic of others. She is one of those people where it is "me, me, me" all the time. That kid hurt HER. Not that she INCITED him.

She is playing with fire. Once her core followers realize that she is a fraud and that Trig is not her baby, I am afraid that one of them will really become unhinged.

I truly believe that the sheer weight of the lies is getting to her. She is very screechy and manic. I don't even doubt that she does drugs to numb out those pesky thoughts like fear, insecurity or if you can believe it guilt. Yea, I know, it was hard for me to write that too. This restraining order is the one thing that is somewhat "true." Something she can stand behind and not like the multiple other LIES she tells on a daily basis.

You hear of all these judgmental, horrible people all the time. They fight for their blind cause, yet in the background, they lead very destructive lives. It's the weight of the fraud, cruelty and lies that does them in.

Example. I live in a suburban community where there is a group (now loyal to Sarah) who used to show up to demonstrate against union activities or anything they thought might be related to ACORN. Local high school kids took advantange and left a pile of acorns at a flagpole and notified the group who scrambled a demo team. We adults kept our snickers to dull roar.
Same group now shows up to defend Sarah (weirdly off topic) at union activities and anthing that might have been claimed by ACORN. There are situations when a public figure and or elebrity has no responsiblity if a fan/follower completely independently commits some heinious act or threat.

Someone including Sarah Palin who intentionally lies to smear a person to foster hate and fear in baseless false allegations to recruit people to her side and turn them against her target is responsible for their predatory words.

When I called the FBI (yup, I sure did) in 2008 to file a complaint against Palin and McCain the FBI officer said they can do nothing until there is physical violence.
It is going to take a bashed head and not bashed windows by a Palinbot. The brainwasher is as guilty as the person engaged in the lies who act out destructively.

It is the truth a person can't even give correct information e.g. Palin did not get the pipeline she boasted of built without being labled a "hater".

It appears Palin suffers from 'depraved indifference' and only cares if she "wins" even if other people lives, families are destroyed or even they are murdered. People like Palin get off on pitting people against one another feeling powerful gaining sadistic pleasure.

Palin won't tell anyone to stand down for no one else matters but her.

Palin takes the hatred and threats of violence coming from her supporters as an example of their devotion to her. She basks in it and will do nothing to tone it down. She's just stupid enough to think that any publicity/attention, even if it's negative, is good PR. I remember how Beck tried to distance himself from the guy in CA who was headed to the Tides Foundation with enough guns to supply a small army. Had the police officers not stopped him, he'd have killed some innocent people. Beck acted as if he'd had nothing to do with firing up this man to take action against the organization, even though he spent weeks maligning the Tides Foundation. He started attacking the Tides Foundation again last week by telling his viewers that the organization wants to "indoctrinate your children."

I do wish people like Andrew Sullivan would be courageous enough to tell the truth. This is the only way that Palin will be stopped. Gryphen, you are performing a much-needed public service in your work to expose the real Palin to the world, and I'm very thankful for the work you do.
