From Alaska Dispatch:
The Fairbanks North Star Borough has asked U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller to allow the release of additional information from his personnel file.
In a letter sent Thursday to Miller's attorney, Ward Merdes, borough attorney Jill Dolan also asks that Miller "retract and correct repeated misrepresentations he has made regarding his records," including postings on his campaign website that suggest it's the borough, not Miller, that is blocking release of the records.
Dolan sent the letter on behalf of the borough after being contacted by an attorney for Alaska Dispatch with a request that the borough disclose additional documents related to Miller's departure from his job as a part-time borough attorney.
Miller's employment with the borough has been under scrutiny since earlier this summer when questions surfaced about whether he resigned voluntarily or was forced out.
In late June, Miller issued a prepared statement denying anything untoward.
"There was absolutely no personal scandal," Miller said.
His campaign manager, Paul Bauer, also told reporters: "Joe Miller is happy to sign a release as long as the borough will waive attorney-client privilege so that he can fully describe why he voluntarily left employment. Joe Miller and the campaign will not allow the borough to hide behind the attorney-client privilege when he needs to describe the reason why he voluntarily left."
But the borough says it has always been Miller who won't agree to the release.
"It is still not clear how Mr. Miller believes the attorney client privilege prevents him from signing a release or otherwise disclosing his FNSB records," Dolan wrote in the letter to Merdes.
Dolan said the borough sent Miller a letter on July 15 asking that he provide details on what he thinks is privileged and what he would like to disclose, but that he has never responded. However, she said, Miller continues to assert on his website that the borough never responded to his request that the FSNB waive attorney client privilege.
Well I don't know about anybody else but it certainly seems to me that there is perhaps something in this file that Joe Miller does NOT want the public to see. So of course we REALLY need to see them as soon as possible.
Of course Miller has been very reluctant all along to release MANY of his records.
He held off releasing his financial report until it was several months past due, and when we read it we realized why. This "fiscal conservative," who is constantly haranguing about the National Debt, was in fact thousands of dollars in debt himself.
The Teabagger hero has also worked to hide the fact that he had taken thousands of dollars in farm subsidies, that his wife had accepted unemployment benefits, that his family took advantage of government health insurance, and probably does not want ANYBODY to know that before he allowed himself to be teabagged he was a moderate. You know kind of like Lisa Murkowski was before she was seduced with corporate dollars.
Miller still has not released his military records and there are significant questions surrounding that as well.
If Miller is working THIS hard to keep us from seeing what is in those North Star Borough records than it seems clear that they will serve as yet ANOTHER embarrassment for him and his campaign.
The borough has requested that Miller respond to its most recent letter by Monday, Oct. 11.
So let's see if Miller will continue to obfuscate and attempt to hide the truth or whether he will "sack up" and start to tell the truth to the voters of Alaska.
That's it...you've convinced me..McAdams has a real shot at this race, and I will make a donation today. I don't know if people realize this, but votes cast in the US Senate affect ALL OF US. Miller, like his mentor Sarah, obviously was NEVER vetted by the Republican party or your state.
ReplyDeleteHopefully my money will be put to good use. I suggest any and all of you that can even afford to send $5 to McAdams will do so to send a message to Sarah Palin and the rest of the Teabaggers that we cannot be fooled again. A vote for Miller is a vote for Sarah.
Here in VA we have our very own Teabaggers on office...Bob McDonnell and Ken Cuccinelli have made a mockery of our state because too many Dems sat on the sidelines last year.
Are there 2 Yale law schools out there, and Joe went to the 2nd? How else do you explain teh stupid?
ReplyDeleteDo you think he will get the chance to use the "word" refudiate? hehehe
ReplyDeleteIt's just astonishing to me that a black man -- a Harvard educated one at that -- ascends to the White House and suddenly every shady lunatic thinks they should aspire to high office to 'take things back.' Why? Because even though a smart black man is now president, they feel he is still JUST a black man. In their low-functioning minds, a simple, lying white person still trumps a black man, no matter how smart he is.
ReplyDeleteScary shit.
When you're writing about his military records and questions about them, are you referring to when he called himself a "seriously disabled military vet" because he was asked about veterans benefits? Just what is his military disability and is he getting even more "big government" money for the alleged disability he's spoken about?
ReplyDeleteJoe Miller has shown just how arrogant yet stupid he is in not realizing that Alaska bloggers and the media would go after him just like they did Palin once she endorsed him. They would have done it anyway, but the endorsement sealed that fate. The dirt on him is a lot like Palin, in that it is never-ending!
Tea Bagger see, Tea Bagger do.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, Miller has posted his military records in fair detail as attachments to his website. However, we don't know a) whether he ever saw combat (although he was attached to troops that did) b) if he got that Bronze Star for combat or just meritorious service and c) what the heck this military disability he has claimed is all about.
ReplyDeleteMicMac
Joe's records are in safe keeping.
ReplyDeleteThey are in same vault as Trig's birth certificate.
I had a personal experience, atually life altering due to a person pulling the same BS who would not sign releases, blocked contact between parties then broadcasted it was me guilty of not signing releases, me witholding information, me "lying"...etc. when anyone does that they are hiding something BIG and the harder they try or post lies..spread false allegations you can bet it is something big they are concealing that would expose them and bring them down. Miller is doing what he can to bring the borough down, eh? Miller has an option to release letters from his lawyers demonstrating requests and signed releases by him to determine if what he claims is true or not. It is simple to test integrity and truth if his words and actions are congruent.
ReplyDeleteHow Miller responds will make or break him. lol I don't think Sarah or Todd Palin will be available to blame the lamestream media for makin' stuff up for him but they may use Miller's predicament all to their advantage.
Fellow VA Voter 6:53 Thank you for the reminder re: donations. I made sever a few days ago and shll make one in AK to support accountability and honesty.
A bit OT: I have been reading various candidates websties. Christine O"Donnels site lists her "beliefs" and no records demonstrating her beliefs leving me to go on released videos e.g. witchcraft and she did picnic at a satanic alter for instance. There was no plan to read nor goals much less any substance proposed to honor her "beliefs". My intention is not to split hairs over semantics. I'd like to know what she intends to do and has done aside from lecturing against masterbation and anti abortion.
ReplyDeleteMy impression was she is all talk, no substance and an airhead. Her filmed campaign commercials "I am you", I'd do what you do is nutty to me and evades anyone knowing what she will do. It reminded me of a joke about pageant contestants: no matter what the question is to them just answer "I believe..I believe all wild animals should run free."
Virginia Voter - I second that. I'm in Alabama but since the AK senators affect me, I too have donated to McAdams.
ReplyDeleteDonations go farther in Alaska because it's not an expensive place to campaign.
Everything about this man stinks. And I mean everything . . . . It's not everyday you get a TOTAL fraud. Usually a politician will fudge one or two things.
ReplyDeleteNow we know if Miller's lips are flapping, he's lying, being a hypocrite, covering up something or just being a belly crawling snake. If Alaskans vote this joke in he will be one of the most corrupt politicians ever to sit in a U.S. senate seat (and that's without ever having held an elected position)----and that's saying something.
Anon 7:37: "It's just astonishing to me that a black man -- a Harvard educated one at that -- ascends to the White House and suddenly every shady lunatic thinks they should aspire to high office to 'take things back.' ReplyDelete100% agree. And it'll get even worse when a woman is there, and I DO NOT mean SP. I know Hillary will be 70 or so when Barack finishes his second term, but I do wish she'd follow him. If Michelle doesn't.
This guy is absolutely incredulous. He was PT, but we don't know how many hours he was required to work for that $38K he was paid. I tend to think he was fired, probably for not putting in the required time and possibly being late with assignments (he was working on "large" projects, according to Broker, his supervising atty). After all, he said if he didn't get the 3 wks leave (!!) he wanted to take his son elk hunting, he'd resign on 9/23. They let him go 9/1.
ReplyDeleteFor those who haven't seen his tangled finances, go here:
http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/10/08/1863347/alaska-gop-candidate-millers-senate.html
Yes. Donations as little as $5 goes a long way. And just think how much encouragement it gives Scott and his staff, to know that so many people care.
ReplyDeleteYep, the lying sack of s--- that is Joe Miller appeals to people who are racist. Let's see: Joe is white, his family avails themselves to state and federally run health care — but the tea-partiers just don't see this as a problem. After all, JOE IS WHITE!! Good grief, let's be honest here: Joe is a liar and the birthers are racist. Call them out.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's a steady drip-drip-drip for this dirtbag. And the worse it gets for him, the better it gets for McAdams. ATTENTION ALASKA PROGRESSIVE VOTERS: grow a pair and help elect Scott McAdams!
ReplyDeleteTypical, you don't need to do any more than scratch the surface of these tea baggies and you find the dirt and corruption. Gawd, what is the world going to do with Americans and the politicians they support?
ReplyDeleteOh feathers! I'm old! My stupid college (IPFW) didn't think a computer course would be valuable valuable. Sure, I graduated in 1986, but , for crying out loud...as a Liberal Arts Major...Commercial Art!
ReplyDeleteOK OK stop complaining.
I only wante ddto say I was glad that I didn't live in Alaska. Because i would dearly hate to hear the likes of Missy Palin and Joe Miller preaching to me...I don't care HOW big the state is...a lie is a lie.
I noticed also that you left that lie out of your eqation.
Joe says he wants Obama's governmet to stop putting the lid on his state's 50 Billion barrels of oil.
Really?
First, the pipeline started at 2 million barrels a day but quickly slowed to the present 620000 barrels a day, with Conocco Phillips saying it will be dropping to 500000 barrels a day by 2015.
(that math, and given that it stays at a steady 500K barrels a day, would take over two and a half centuries)
But the more accurate findings are that there is less than 1/6th that 50 Billion barrle count.
Maybe less.
Joe's teacher?
Bush junior...
Oh...well, that explains it.
Thanks for pointing out that every senator affects each of us, Virginia Voter. I just contributed $25 to Scott McAdams from down here in California because of your comment. Hope it helps!
ReplyDeletethe attorney/client privilege always belongs to the client and the client can always waive it. For Miller to characterize this as privileged under the circumstances shows that he either doesn't know first year Evidence or he's playing games. Yes, an employee can decline to release his personnel records but Miller obviously doesn't want to say he's doing that--so he's offering a completely inapplicable rationale.
ReplyDeleteIf he is truly a disabled veteran, he is more than likely receiving a disability check every month...
ReplyDeleteSo more confusion and obfuscation (perhaps prevarication?) concerning candidate Joe Miller and his past. Once again his campaign statements are in question; this time as regards his employment history and his current campaign statements concerning his past. More of the same. Anything to hide?? You betcha.
ReplyDeleteI have a question.
Where does the idea originate that Joe Miller used to be a moderate?
It is repeated here yet another time.
The only evidence that I am aware of concerning him being a moderate is that in 2004 his CAMPAIGN STATEMENTS and POSITIONS were much more moderate than his more recently expressed campaign statements.
It is correct to say that he posed as a more moderate candidate in 2004. I do not believe it is correct to say that he was a moderate.
Look at all the evidence concerning the 'accuracy' and 'clarity' of anything Joe Miller has said in this campaign. And concerning his life history also too. Many items of the 'truthy Joe' are cited in this very post. The list is far from complete.
This quote is directly to the point:
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits." Matthew 7:15-16a (KJV)
"A ravening wolf on the other hand is hungry and seeking new prey to satisfy his own need. He will attack and destroy any animal or human he can. A wolf is his own master and does whatever he wants.
With that said, it's hard to imagine how someone like a wolf can come dressed as a sheep.
But what's on the inside is easy to hide when the outward appearance looks good. They will offer a helping hand to anyone in need, sacrifice their time to go and visit the elderly or lonely, and spend lots of time in prayer and reading the Bible."
Actually the ending in Aesop's version is better than the biblical version- but in any case:
Joe Miller having made 'moderate statements' in 2004 makes him a moderate in the same way the sheep pelt the wolf is wearing makes the wolf a sheep. NOT AT ALL. IT IS A LIE.
When a previous political opponent referred to Joe as a chameleon- his true color was not moderate.
Another question I'm puzzling over-
Where and when did Joe Miller first become acquainted with the Palins?
Anyone can request his military records. Very easy to do, I've done it more than once. Write a letter like this:
ReplyDeleteTo Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to request any and all military records for the following individual as provided under the Freedom of Information Act.
Name
Date of Birth
Home of Record
Branch of Service
Guesstimate of dates of service, include what you know @ training or where stationed.
You must sign the letter. Include your contact information. Send your request to:
National Personnel Records Center
Military Personnel Records
9700 Page Avenue
St. Louis, MO 63132-5100
You may be surprised at the plethora of information you get back!
The back story of how Mudflats got the infamous Todd Palin email
ReplyDeleteGoogle cache story of Texas Joe Miller vs. Alaskan Joe Miller
So Joe Miller was telling the truth about a domain mix up. However, he's the one who got them mixed up.
Now that's some real incompetence for you. The guy can't even email himself.
Bwahahahaha
What truly amazes me is that Alaska has a population of only about 600,000. Smaller than most large US cities. How come these frauds, Palin and Miller have not been thoughly vetted before they are elected? Palin should have been exposed as a fraud and a liar, long ago. When will someone have the courage to come forward and tell the TRUTH about Trig? About Bristol's numerous pregnancies? About Track's vandalism and Willow's drug and drinking habits? Is this a family to be admired?
ReplyDeleteLet's get a few things clear. Taking it right off his campaign website:
ReplyDeleteBorn in Kansas in 1967.
May 1989 - B.S. West Point.
1989-1992 military service.(?)
1992 - married Kathleen. "His wife of 18 years, Kathleen, is a teacher." That credential is not on her resume. She homeschools her kids.
1992 - Yale admission
1994 - "full-time Yale law student on a merit scholarship" (Randy DeSoto). Yale doesn't give merit scholarships.
May 31, 1995 - Yale Law School diploma
1995-1998 Cordon, Partnow and Sharrock
May 1997 - Honorable Discharge, Army. Rank has been whited out.
March 2, 1998 - Appointed Tok magistrate. How does a rookie Anchorage lawyer get appointed to magistrate?
1998-2002 State Magistrate
2002-2004 United States Magistrate Judge
2002 Acting District Court Judge, Fairbanks
May 2008 - Master's, UAF
July 2008 - Palin fires Walt Monegan, kicking off "Troopergate".
July(?) to October 2008 - Joe Miller attorney for Troopergate lawsuit.
September 22, 2008 Op-ed from lead attorney in Alaska Troopergate Lawsuit http://tiny.cc/3u5ru
March 2009 - Palin appoints Kathleen to Alaska Judicial Council
July 2009 - Palin quits. Parnell inauguration in Fairbanks: he promises to "follow the course set by Sarah". His very first act on the job was a Christian retreat with 100 preachers the next day.
Sept 24, 2010 - "At a joint campaign event in Wasilla on Friday, rally organizers for the Sean Parnell/Joe Miller noontime meet and greet asked for prayers that God's will would confirm the will of the commonsense conservative people -- people who want to see Sarah Palin's former second-in-command earn the governorship...and people who want party insurgent Joe Miller to unseat Sen. Lisa Murkowski."
http://tiny.cc/e7x2r
Joe Miller = Sean Parnell = Sarah Palin.
Untruthful. Self-serving. Questionable integrity. Bend rules for personal gain.
LOL.
ReplyDeleteNever heard about the military records :)
Hope you guys don't have another Stringfellow on your hands up there.
Or, rather, I do. Also, too. Just make sure he doesn't get elected before you find out all of his nutbaggery.
Haha.
Since the Tea Party is all about being a Patriot I would think there would be quite a bit of screaming that the bearded one hasn't released his military records.
ReplyDeleteMilitary records are routinely purged of documents that are mundane in nature. What is always kept are award citations and bad boy forms. So if he had a lot of the former he'd have that record out in a heartbeat but if has a lot of the latter then you can imagine he'd want those hidden. Guess we can deduce what type of military officer that Miller was now can't we?
Complete horse-pucky, as a famous American once said. If he's not being transparent, there is something to hide.
ReplyDeleteBig doings on the Chena, but snow is closing in.
at least someone is able to say the truth..she is a moron, and if she is able to get to the WH, we get what we deserve..
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsNr_EnEd34&feature=channel
7:37 AM, scary shit, indeed.
ReplyDeleteI'm discovering that some of my friends of 20+ years are racists, birthers, and religious extremists. I don't know if I liked it better when they hid their crap or, now, that I know their true character. Now, they feel relieved to finally spew out their hatred like so much projectile vomit.
I'm thoroughly disgusted with a lot of people.
Anonymous at 1:25 P.M.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I'll point out about this 'resume' or whatever it is called at that site...
All the folderol about his records for when he was working at the Fairbanks North Star Borough is caused by the assignment being a SEEKRET ASSignment. Note that the FNSB assignment is MISSING from his 'resume'.
The second thing I'll point out is that Joe Miller wrote 2 op-eds for the Catholic news agency.
You have referenced the second.
This is the first "An insider's view: Palin is the Real Deal"
To get the full effect say it " Palin is the RILL DILL" just like Joe and Sarah.
I have not seen this article discussed on the blogs yet- if it new to you go and read the whole thing. Very carefully constructed with a few nuggets of truth which are then overwhelmed by faulty analysis, and 'facts' which are not.
I have a hard time picking out the most hilarious quote from what Joe Miller wrote.
Maybe it is-
"She turns a blind eye to privilege and position. That’s been her approach from day one in Alaska politics ..."
You betcha Joe great call there!!
Or lets think about this-
"Unlike the disgruntled political adversaries and oil company lobbyists, real Alaskans from all political stripes endorse her with a resounding 80% approval rating, the highest of any governor nationwide. Why? Because they know she’ll never sell out."
80% approval eh? Well not any more.
"she'll never sell out"- HA-Well there are always some empty seats at her events so I'll give you credit for that one Joe!
Otherwise with respect to "she'll never sell out" I think you have been proven wrong yet again Joe.
Bendy straws, private jets, $100,000 more or less per appearance when the bills are all in. LMFAO Joe.
Stick to teabags- and quit trying to read the tea leaves- is my advice for 'Konstitutional lawyer' Joe Miller.
I have another question:
What legal cases did Joe Miller work on at FNSB? There are rumors that conflicts of interest arose. Which could be easily proven or disproven, except that JOE is hiding his records from his employment at FNSB. Is there a good reason to hide those records?
I think so.
Typical lawyer. How is it that in this day & age of readily available information that a shady character like Joe Miller has gotten as far in a primary as this guy has?!!!! He has taken voters for a ride ALMOST as wild as his half way mentor's faked birth of a child she didn't really carry!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think he got up here, got sick of it, found himself in debt and decided that the only way out was to make a run for the Senate?
I wonder if the disability that Miller is claiming from his military service is, PTSD? That is the only thing that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteHis rank is whited out? That doesn't sound good. Either his rank wasn't as high as he'd like or he got busted a grade.
ReplyDeleteI'll also say this. I'm a Dept Army civilian working in offices with multiple officers. Some West Point, some not. And what I hear is if you graduated from West Point then you are pretty much guaranteed to get promoted to LTC. But we know he left the active Army well before that rank (based on time.)
Miller and Bush attended the same one, number two, leu.
ReplyDeleteAnother personal lawyer? I thought Van Flein was his lawyer! How many lawyers does this lawyer need to be "lawyered up"???
ReplyDeleteIs the State of Alaska willing to be on the hook for Joe Miller's legal bills?
There are guys who've been to Iraq for 4 tours in 5 years... and guys who were recalled or stopped-lossed time and time again. The lower-ranked officers are one of the military's greatest needs. Meanwhile, this asshole only does 1 tour and is out of a 5-year obligation in 3? (Any lawyer has taken a Contracts class and understands quid pro quo... he bailed on the contract.) He must have been a real piece of work if the military needed his absence more than his presence!
As for the severe disability? Not all disabilities show. Next month will be the 12th YEAR of my migraine and clinical depression. If he is severely physically disabled, he probably wouldn't be able to go elk-hunting in the wilderness. If he is severely mentally disabled (PSTD), he wouldn't have gotten through even a mail-order law school. So there is maybe a filter of lies to cover his early discharge.
Gryphen and others--You really should look at the military records he has posted on his website joemiller.us
ReplyDeleteClick on meet joe, then candidate records.
4 officer evaluation reports are there.
They have recently added his DD 214 discharge certificate.
"Seriously disabled veteran" comment by him has still not been explained, but there IS alot of stuff posted about his military stuff.
There is more information on that nepotism caused unemployment for Mrs. Joe Miller.
ReplyDeleteIt is at the ADN
http://community.adn.com/play/node/153578
The court that employed Joe Miller, and his wife- until that was found to be apparently NOT ALLOWED has tried to explain it for Joe.
Late Friday afternoon press release- government holiday on Monday?? AKA a "Friday Dump".
It explains not much- other than they claim it was not Joe's fault.
Seems like everyone was doing it and someone told Joe it was OK, and since Joe is a lawyer he could not look it up for himself?? Or did Joe being a lawyer wonder what nepotism and conflict of interest might mean, and wonder- does the government have a rule for that??
The ADN asked additional questions and got YET ANOTHER REFUSAL TO ANSWER FROM THE JOE MILLER CAMPAIGN!
More Fail for Joe Miller.
Another question: When did Joe Miller first meet Talis Colberg?
Anon@3:27--I also found out the hard way about people I worked with were not what they seemed to be at all, in spite of their public facades and the amount of time they spend in church. The other teachers in the building and on my hall were friendly and speaking to me on November 3 & 4 2008, but on November 5, 2008, after Obama had won the election, things changed. It was as if they were mad at the world and especially mad at African Americans, and I am African American, so quite a bit of their animus was directed at me. I was very friendly with an older white woman who worked in the cafeteria. I would go through her line everyday, and we would talk. As I approached her line on November 5, 2008, she looked at me, lowered her eyelids, gave me an evil glance, and looked away as if I had done something to her. I went to another serving line. I stopped going through her line and stopped talking to her, although we did begin talking again before I retired. I was retiring in 2009 along with my best friend, Anne, who happens to be white, and whose classroom was next to mine. Anne was no different on Nov. 5, but Anne is from Iowa, and was not raised in GA. She also voted for Obama. My other friend on the hall who was also white and from MN was the same, but the whites who were natives of GA, and so-called Christians acted as if the world had ended. My co-teacher, who was also white, was one of my former students who had known me for years, and she also acted as if she was angry with the world.
ReplyDeleteI think lots of Americans would be surprised, as you and I were, to find that people they had been on friendly terms with for years, suddenly changed when Obama became president. You didn't change, and I didn't change, but some of the people we thought we knew so well certainly did.
All bag, No sack
ReplyDelete*~~marlys~
Reading some posts here about people learning friends and acquaintances were racist and bigots reminded me of a racist workmen I had who told me his friends and familes would not vote for a black person. That changed when we shared information about the candidates. In fact it changed in Obama's favor when Palin was chosen for many people.
ReplyDeleteI am being philisophical but I think the 2008 Presidental race brough out goodness and the majority voted for the good of their country. Truth came to light even if truth is hatred due to racisim. High profile people took a stand Palin was not qualified and we learned the McCain team and McCain chose not to do the right thing for the country to have Palin step aside as they learned she was a dim bulb who had gotten far and an unstable person.
RE: Palin running-she does not have to nor would she want to do interviews nor participate in discussions on Meet the Press or similar programs.
Palin chose FB, twitter and TLC and she'll run on being a Hockey Mom, special needs mom, perfect family, reality tv popularity, hotness factor of those who fantasize sexually about her, and fake hair too, and Piper as the little doll even if she has a minimal grade school education.
I believe Sarah and Todd were convinced they could maintain the illusion of perfect family and hide Bristol's pregnancy.
