Politico writes about the havoc Sarah Palin wreaks on the political scene: “Her whole world is chaos.”

For me this entire article describes EXACTLY the Sarah Palin that we Alaskans had to deal with as our Governor, as well as the one described by Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace as the one they saw on the campaign trail.  Manic, with an extremely short attention span, and a hit and miss work ethic.

However there is this one part in the article that I felt summed up the Grizzled Mama best.

One major GOP Senate campaign sought Palin’s endorsement at the beginning of the year but didn’t know how to reach her. Out of desperation, they ended up sending a message to her Facebook page. Having never heard back, an operative for the campaign asked a reporter for the e-mail address of Palin’s representative at the time. The campaign got a noncommittal reply.

Then, one day months later, the campaign was told Palin was going to offer her endorsement. They waited for much of the day, frequently checking her Facebook and Twitter page. Finally, a consultant to the campaign put a call in to somebody close to the former governor and asked if the endorsement was still coming.

“We were told it was going to happen in an hour, and she was going to tweet it,” recounted an operative on the campaign. “But we waited and waited and waited, and it never happened. Then we never heard of it again.”

Sarah Palin is all about Sarah Palin.  I keep waiting for the Republicans, and the Teabaggers, to figure out that very obvious fact, but so far they are still so smitten with her star power they cannot see that she is using them and then discarding them like a snotty tissue.

However I am certain that the majority of the American people are WAY ahead of these idiots, and that at some point she will find herself literally laughed off of the political stage. Perhaps it will look much like what recently happened to Christine O'Donnell when she displayed her ignorance of the First Amendment.

Too bad they haven't listened to anyone from Alaska! What does that say about our influence up here in the far north? We're going to have any less influence if Miller is elected - or, Murkowski for that matter.

You'd think they would have already figured it out but the fools keep rushing in and waiting for things to change. They will eventually see that the ONLY that that ever changes with Sarah is her mind (or what little of her mind that is left).

She goes where the money is or the best press is. That is all she is concerned with.

If a few republicans would speak out and refuse any connection to her I am sure others would follow. But first they need to find those first few that actually have the balls to stand against her.

As someone who recently worked for the Repub party in my state and knows many national repub candidates, I can vouch that this is not true. Several of those people in the article have asked for a retraction, much like Michael Gross'. Cmon Gryphen, you're better than this to believe anon sources. Never reliable.

Although her world is chaos and her attention span is short, Sarah Palin has so far successfully faked a pregnancy through a governorship, a veep campaign and a book tour.

She has the chaos thingy down to art.

We all expected so much with the nomination for VP. We understood she was governor and therefore a good political player. In the last 2 years we have learned that it was a fluke, and we are waiting for the press to acknowledge that.

How does one still put trust in mainstream media when time and time again each and every journalist, news anchor and pundit has been proven to be biased and onesided. How is an entire opinion piece taken as fact when NOT ONE source is disclosed and several names mentioned have publicly denounced the hit piece?

Pathetic MSM. STICK TO THE FIRST HAND FACTS. What are you teaching today's kids? Rumors don't fly

  13. You know I REALLY have to wonder about the sanity of somebody who comes over here and tries to shame ME about anonymous sources.

Anybody who has even made a handful of visits must know that I have worked with anonymous sources a number of times in the past and that many of those tips have turned into some very interesting and newsworthy posts.

I trust that a journalist who uses such sources to learn more about Sarah Palin has confidence in their accuracy, and is braced for the incredible backlash that will surely come from her rabid base of supporters.

As for anybody who has asked for a retraction, I would be much more likely to believe that they are crumbling under the vitriolic and poorly spelled e-mails from the Palin-bots jamming their in-boxes rather than that they have been misquoted.

I think SP let the idea of being a kingmaker go to her head. Her endorsements helped some unknown candidates (cough, Christine O'Donnell) win a few primaries, the media picked up the story and ran with it, and Palin decided she was Karl Rove in Naughty Monkey heels. Sounds like before one complete election cycle is even over, though, she's tossed away a good chunk of her influence by being a diva and endorsing candidates who have become national jokes.

    Check out her insane psycho-tweet!

Sarah is mentally ill and everyone sees it now.

Truly she is calling all she knows telling them they better speak out against this "or else." And Todd is on the phones too.

She is damn mad at "Johnny" and is going to make the "big boys" in her mind retract.

All this goes to show she hasn't matured or leveraged her paradoxial rise in national prominence in two years.

There is no work on her part if she remains in her devoted waters, if she were to head into a national run, that would require actual work and accountability. We all know Sarah ain't about to risk her gravy train for some actual responsibilities.

She's a half assed operator. Always has been, always will be.

Palin always seems to get a pass on her endorsements. In Dallas, she endorsed Stephen Broden(R-Tx) for Congress who has recently said he "would not rule out a violent overthrow of the government." He is a tea party candidate,African American, has been on Fox many times and is in a district which went 88% for Obama(which is probably why she endorsed him--her jealousy.) This, though, is why Palin should mind her own business. Palin knows nothing about his district,or Tx, with millions of people or this man.
Thought about Palin when I was at the State Fair of TX in Dallas. There were more people at the fair than live in Wasilla. Palin simply doesn't have a clue.

Thanks for posting this, Gryphen. I could only get through the first page & a half, but this was my big take-away:

“It says to me she’s not serious about running for president,” said a source close to Grassley, suggesting that a real White House hopeful would not have snubbed a figure like the senior senator in the state that begins the nomination process.

This kinda irks me, because if she actually ran, people might start spilling their secrets. Also, in the unlikely case she was the republican nominee, Obama would win by a landslide.

She has TWO very young children. Poor Piper's a mother duck to that baby, and she hasn't gradgeated the sixth grade.

Amen. I live with someone with bipolar disorder, so Sarah's behavior looks very familiar. She needs to be institutionalized and then she needs to start a course of medication. This racing around the country, talking a mile a minute, is classic bipolar behavior. Then she self-medicates with liquor to ward off the depression, I presume. Palin has done one good thing. She's uncovered the extent of mental illness in this country, considering the number of people who blindly believe in her, including congressional candidates. This is not an individual suited for any public office or for parenting, for that matter.

Scattered thinking, over the top reactions to any slight, plans that constantly changed based on where they could have the best time, and expecting everyone to pay her way! Crazy talk 5:20 and 6:42, and oh, so hypocritical to post anonymously, given their subject!

They obviously don't understand that a cited 'anonymous' source doesn't automatically translate to unknown to the author. Sadly, there are people who could be hurt by telling their truths.

5:20 and 6:42 probably also believe they can go around the 'net posting anonymously and no one will ever know who they are!

But, don't tell them, OK? Hahaha!

I hate to buy into the "SP is bipolar" idea because I'm bipolar. I don't exactly go around telling people. Even so, it was embarrassing enough a few years ago when Britney Spears was the "probably bipolar" poster child. Sarah Palin is SO much worse! I want to believe that she's simply stuck in a teenage phase, as Anon. 5:38 notes.

BUT I was just thinking about some of the symptoms SP exhibits: the rapid-fire speech, the erratic behavior, the delusions of grandiosity. I thought, "But there's no way I could stand to give the same speech over and over like she does. I'd totally get bored with it." And a little light bulb went off. Maybe that's part of why she keeps changing the Trig birth story--not because it's some master plan to gradually change details over time (if she's bipolar, I doubt she's capable of that kind of sustained effort) but because she's bored with repeating it.

Bipolar would also explain the post-election depression, eating ice cream on the couch in her pajamas. But it seems like now she's been on a sustained mania for months, which makes me suspect that pharmaceuticals are involved. Otherwise, I'd sure like to know her secret!

Those good ol' boys don't take too kindly to a demanding diva telling them that she'll start a 3rd party if they don't follow the orders of the lunatic fringe. When I see things like this, I always remember what Time Magazine said after the Troopergate report came out:

"But the Branchflower report still makes for good reading, if only because it convincingly answers a question nobody had even thought to ask: Is the Palin administration shockingly amateurish? Yes, it is. Disturbingly so."

It doesn't matter how many kids she has. A true professional would manage their time and commitments, and not make promises they could not keep. It's not as if she doesn't have a spouse, two grown children, a nanny, two set of grandparents who live nearby, not to mention how many consultants on her PAC's payroll. There is no excuse for this unprofessional behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous7:26 AM

Her spokesperson cites her "5" children (and one very young) as the reason why she can't commit to events or backs out of them. BUT it was so sexist to suggest, during the '08 campaign, that she couldn't run for and serve as VP because she has 5 children (and one was an infant).

Sarah: are you seeing the disconnect here? How are you gonna run for/be POTUS if you can't commit to a silly fundraiser?

from a Palin tweet on 10/21/2010:

Refreshing vindication 4 folks putting up w/ this crap 2 long

    -----

Sarah Palin does not have the mental and emotional capacity to understand that putting "crap" in a tweet is not the mark of a potential presidential candidate.

Palin may be a sociopath, bipolar, arrested development, drugged, or whatever other diagnosis that suits. It does NOT matter what her problem is. The question is whether she will eliminate herself from political power or will she need assistance to leave public life.

IMO, she'll have to be pushed out of public life, so please keep the pressure on, Gryphen. Sarah Palin will undoubtedly get even more "careless". It's the Alaskan locals on the spot that have the best opportunity to expose Sarah Palin's incompetance to US electorate.

    to 6:28, you're onto something.

I think much of the bullshit that is made up about her is meant to rattle her so she'll fall back in line and help them regain control. Sarah's not one for following orders from the top of the political food chain as we've seen. And we all know none of the diva stories and creative writing exercises are true. ALL JOURNALISTS HAVE PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL AGENDAS. Steve Schmidt does. NIcholle Wallace certainly does (there's a winner, she's the biggest opportunist of all.)

It's a journalists job to create stories that keep the newscycle alive so they can continue to have a job. It's that simple. Creative writing is a pre requisite. ANy college grad knows that. Sarah knows that. Why do you think she's not rattled by this, or why it hasn't slowed her down? I can hardly believe all that she's acocmplished in the not quite 2 YEARS since the election. More than any of us thats for sure.

My life has daily impact from 2 women who are sisters, no relation to me, both manic depressive (bipolar being the more recent terminology for this affliction) and the one has been "manicky" for at least 10 years+ and the other has serious depression, ongoing.

They both deny the diagnosis, self medicate with alcohol and street drugs, and are assured all their problems are caused by "others."

They are not at the top of the "smart" range, but feel they are always "right" about any issue that arises, and are in their mid-40's and are not employed.

They have a following, of "losers" and are very popular with those folks, who bend and stoop to do whatever task, need etc. the two request their "court" execute for them.

Daily, I remark to myself and to some others, that they could as easily be $carah P. The places could be exchanged and the TEEPartiers would be none the wiser except the one is better looking and a little "hotter" than $P but could spew the same sh... and the men would have their tongues dangling out of their mouths in anticipation.

Personal hygiene is somewhat wanting, and their surroundings are chaotic, unclean and for me, undesirable. Those attributes do not deter their followers.

However, I am one who just wishes $P would get her hair laundered more frequently and tidy herself up a bit more before some of her stage appearances.

It is a known fact that photography, both video and still pictures tend to portray things much better than in real life. That is a fact, and I have read commentary from attendees who have seen $P up close and made note that a more polished presence and shampoo is in order before she hits the stage for an appearance .

However, if $P needs a stand in when she is spread too thin or is too tired, there must be plenty of those with compromised ability similar to hers who could take over in a heartbeat.

Untruthful statements rendered with great authoritarian stance seems typical of those suffering from the same disabilities $P seems to have fallen heir to, unfortunately. Thus, it is difficult for people to strip out the truth and the untruth when these people are "holding forth" in their infinite wisdom.

We do not wish those afflictions on anyone but it is disastrous when individuals follow those impaired persons because they, as followers, are not educated enough to recognize impairments of this nature.
