Viewership for "Sarah Palin Sees Alaska For the First Time" has dropped 40%, Once you have seen the trainwreck do you really need to go back for a second peek?

From the Daily Beast:

TLC executives have a lot less to crow about this week: Ratings for Sarah Palin's Alaska, tanked after just one episode. The show's premiere last Sunday surprised the television world with 5 million viewers, a ratings record for the medium-sized network. But viewers seem to have had their curiosity satisfied with a single episode. Two million, or 40 percent of them, failed to tune in for more. Worse for TLC, the median viewer age for the second episode was 57—well outside the target adult demographic and 15 years older than the network's typical viewer. Network execs said they expected a ratings dropoff after the premiere, and that the show could have been hurt by the American Music Awards.

It looks like Sister Sarah's planned media blitz to attract more support for her political aspirations is backfiring big time.

Not only is her crappy program hemorrhaging viewers, but her plan to pimp out Bristol in order to garner sympathy and soften her image, has so angered the people watching DWTS that instead she has earned a whole new passel of critics who never really paid attention to her and her dysfunctional family before. In fact she may have single-handedly destroyed the programs future.

I have said many times that the more people see Sarah Palin the less support she will have.  And she is doing everything in her power to prove me correct.

But if you want to see Sister Sarah at her most manic, and can stand to sit through almost 50 minutes of her high pitched screeching, you HAVE to watch her interview yesterday with Sean Hannity. I was going to sit down and pick it apart for you, but I am so shocked after listening to it that I cannot even bring myself to listen to is again and point out all that is wrong, crazy, and frightening about it.

Get your bottle of Maalox ready before you start, and good luck.

Part One:

Part Two:

Part Three:

Part Four:

Now I want to point out that NOBODY has taken Palin's words out of context.  These are HER words, spoken to a host who is VERY sympathetic toward her, and so she cannot claim that anybody "twisted her words" or "took them out of context."

So if you managed to get through these four videos, or even portions of them, do YOU find her to be a viable Presidential candidate?

I didn't watch the video or her show.

She's rumored to be advocating to get O'Donnell on the next DWTS.

Other GOP frontrunners are developing policy positions while Sarah f@cks around.

I can't believe you still think she's running.

No, she's not a viable candidate. Her beehive is sure looking 1950-60's; she might be a viable candidate to star in GREASE as one of the old teachers.

But seriously, she can't run for Pres. She doesn't have the #s. Only 3 million? The median age of her fan base is 57 and they just have to turn on a TV channel. Some of her crowd is confined to wheel chairs, scooters and assisted living; it will be harder for them to get out and vote. She does not bring in the youth crowd and neither do her kids, as is evidenced currently on Dancing With Teabagging Shills.

Now that DWTS is about over and Sarah's show only has six episodes, so what next you ask? Hmmm...

    How about something like COPS?

COPS in Alaska where we could see some REAL reality TV:

Todd's sister being arrested after her THIRD break-in of a home in Wasilla (true)

    Track vandalizing school buses (true)

Willow vandalizing a vacant home for sale in Wasilla and doing thousands of
dollars in damage with her friends (true)

Todd using his wife's power as Governor to harass his former brother-in-law and then he and Sarah being condemned in the official report about the abuse of power (true)

Underage drinking and drugging with Track, Bristol and Willow (true)

Piper missing so many school days that the COPS are called in to investigate

And then maybe we could see some of the secret phone calls and arm twisting Palin does to keep it all under wraps and out of the "lamestream" media?

A dose of real reality might be nice....just sayin'

I can't bring myself to watch the clips, but I doubt I would be surprised by anything in them. I never watched her TLC show either.

I also don't/won't watch DWTS, even though it's Bristol's big night - I assume she will win but I actually think it would be far more Palin-like for her to lose and then continue to build a career on whining about how the "haters" destroyed her for the rest of her life. It's worked for her mother!

I suppose if she doesn't win we will then be subjected to a bunch of lawsuits, vote counting, etc... sound familiar?

I don't understand why these reporters keep saying that SPA was a "ratings record for TLC."

As I have pointed out on another site now, this is NOT true.

Jon and Kate plus 8 has had viewers higher than 5 million at least 2 times.

On May 25, 2009 they pulled in 9.8 million and in June 2009 they had 10.6 million for the divorce episode.

Here are the links again to back up my facts (something the supposed reporters are not doing):

I think Sarah plans to run & her self-love allows her to think she will win. That is why the second house was built on Lake Lucille, she plans to live there while president! Just like when she was governor of Alaska, it seems like she is really that delusional. Karen

Naked ambition is no substitute for a lack of intellect or common decency.

I live in a very conservative neighborhood and yesterday at the local Subway I encountered a group of teenagers, looked 13..17, they were in the booth next to mine and they were having a conversation about Bristol DWTS. They said she was there because of her mother. Then one said Bristol's mother is a bully, she only says nasty things.Another piped up,and she wears only short skirts,my mother does not dress like that!

Perhaps all is not lost as the young see through this Fake and some parents are teaching their children good standards.

@9:43, All Stupid has ever done is f@ck around. Of course she's not developing policy or coming up with solutions. She thinks she'll get into the WH via Fakebook, Twitter, Fox News and bumper sticker sloganeering. When it comes to having to offer real solutions though, she she'll just quit halfway through and go on tour as a former Half-Term President -- and why not? She got away with it before and people still (inexplicably) take her seriously.

This week the reality show includes Track.

In Part 3 of the Hannity BS interview, she talks about being so proud of Track that at the end of his deploy, for giving up his seat to someone that had family needs at home. He had to wait a month for his return trip.

I'd normally play my violin now but it's in the shop for repair from overuse.

While talking this Track crap, she's ripping a strip from Senator Kerry about something he said (well probably her interruptation). Kerry, who is a Vietnam vet. Track, who I read drove an officer around for a year. Big freakin' difference in their tours. Track was the equivalent of a taxi driver.

She's starting to sound like her pre 2008 self. I saw no mania. I just much frustration with petty gossip. She is in a different position. People don't follow Romney, Pawlenty around and "report" the ridiculous. Yes, Sarah does allow herself more facetime, but the public obviously craves it. Have you noticed when Bristol does post show interviews, the interviewer wants to know exact dialogue that goes on between Bris and Sarah? It's crazy. She taken her chance to do so much good and haters are detracting from that. Someone who's seen the attacks on her family yet continues to fight anyway is not engaging in the "war" for purely personal gratification.

No matter what the outcome of the show is, there will be complaining by B & S Palin. And threatening phonecalls from TP. If B wins, she will quit and go on a dramatic weightloss regimen at one of her residences because DWTS didn't work.

If B looses, we know she'll blame the haters. (Anyone who looses does so because people hate them, right?)

I had wanted Jennifer Grey to win, but when B was still on after the forth week, I decided that it was a fix. I'll never watch it again. I used to love it because it was wholesome, family entertainment. We never voted, but we liked it.

It's good that Sarah has so much contol over her stuff; she can't truly blame others for her failure.

SP is like a desperate girl who knows the break-up is inevitable and she is desperately grasping at straws to make herself seem good to keep it going.

What is a must to INVESTIGATE in Alaska is the HOME SCHOOL INDUSTRY. Instead of truancy, what Piper and Willow are about is HOME SCHOOL.

It is not only the Palin kids that are abused with those type of HOME SCHOOL people. What is happening to all the poor kids that can't make it and the parents turn to the HOME SCHOOL should be a crime. You would think the few decent home schools would stand up and not allow SARAH PALIN be the FACE OF HOME SCHOOL.

Sarah isn't viable because she is so damn angry all the time. It's just basic psychology that eventually people will turn away from it. Only her most ardent supporters can put up with that indefinitely, and they may even recoil at what all this over- exposure shows about her personality and mindset. They thought they liked her, in other words...

Btw, it just occurred to me if Bristol is hiding something, her mother has insisted that any revelations be delayed by at least 2 weeks or so, so that she can sell as many book as possible to her fans (the ones who think she is a wonderful role model and mother).

  34. Can't watch, but in light of the Cell Block Tango on DWTS post below:

    also from Wikipedia:
"Velma again welcomes the audience with the line "Hello, Suckers," another reference to Texas Guinan, who commonly greeted her patrons with the same phrase. She informs the audience of Roxie's continual run of luck ("I Know a Girl") despite Roxie's obvious falsehoods ("Me and My Baby"). A little shy on the arithmetic, Amos proudly claims paternity, and still nobody notices him ("Mr. Cellophane"). Velma tries to show Billy all the tricks she's got planned for her trial ("When Velma Takes The Stand"). With her ego growing, Roxie has a heated argument with Billy, and fires him. She is brought back down to earth when she learns that a fellow inmate has been executed. The trial date arrives, and Billy calms her, telling her if she makes a show of it, she'll be fine ("Razzle Dazzle"), but when he passes all Velma's ideas on to Roxie, down to the rhinestone shoe buckles, Mama and Velma lament the demise of "Class". As promised, Billy gets Roxie her acquittal but, just as the verdict is given, some even more sensational crime pulls the pack of press bloodhounds away, and Roxie's fleeting celebrity life is over. Billy leaves, done with the case. Amos stays with her, glad for his wife, but she then confesses that there isn't really a baby, making Amos finally leave her. Left in the dust, Roxie pulls herself up and extols the joys of life "Nowadays". "

This whole time, I didn't believe in reincarnation....but I do believe this Palin Family is an ugly train wreck show.

whoa whoa whoa horsey. I just watched the first part....Sarah claimed to have been a CEO and a business woman. Where did that come from?

And those time tested truths she was blathering about? Sarah, do you mean like the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, the earth is about 3,000 years old? Or maybe that an elected official should be able to use their office to seek revenge on an ex brother-in-law and no one should question her about it?

    And this statement.

"I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today, of journalism and I have a communications degree."

Could have fooled me Sarah. what a clumsy way with words you have for having a degree in communications.

And "I studied journalism. Who, what, where, when, and why of reporting. I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of reporting."

OK The question Katie asked you about what you read, that you completely fumbled. Let's break it down. My comments are in parenthesis.

"COURIC: And when (when) it comes to establishing your world view(what), I was curious (why), what newspapers and magazines did you (who) regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world (where)?

It sure seems Like Katie used the who, why, what, when, where method to me.

"PALIN: I’ve read most of them again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media —

COURIC: But what ones specifically? I’m curious.

PALIN: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years.

COURIC: Can you name any of them?

PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where, it's kind of suggested and it seems like, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C. may be thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America."

    A communications degree? riggghhhhhht.

  58. Anonymous11:48 AM

"Public service?" Really, Sarah? You don't know what "public service" is, and if you keep on saying it, people are going to suggest that you service the male public on local street corners. You are certainly looking the part, and Gawd knows, you act it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous11:48 AM

I watched the 1st Hannity clip(that's as much as I could stomach) First she's supposed to be talking about her record which she complained the American public hasn't heard about and instead she goes into a tirade about bloggers who lie about her family everyday. Then she realizes she never answered the original question and says, but we don't really care about that. Not very convincing Sister Sarah.

She finally addresses the Willow situation. She says someone said something bad about her little brother and she used a bad word. The guy Willow called a Fa**ot said the reality show was a failure and said nothing about Trig who wasn't even really in the first episode. She just had to throw him in for effect and to draw sympathy for Willow. She never admonished what Willow did, she just blamed it on all the "haters" and basically told Willow not to worry about it and to keep her mouth shut. Again, no Palin ever does anything wrong.

  60. Anonymous11:48 AM

The rest of this "interview is mostly an infomercial propaganda piece about Sarah and is pretty slickly done.

I was amused about her comment that during the run up to the election, Joe Lieberman told her to "hand this over to God, and put your faith in him."

Evidently God didn't put his faith in Sarah tho. God must have put his faith in Barrack Obama. Good on God.

Sarah Palin reportedly lobbied producers of the ABC hit show "Dancing With The Stars" on Thursday night to bring failed Tea Party-backed U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell on as a contestent to the next season of the program.

Here's my theory as to why she has so much poop plopped on her head - to distract from turkey neck.

There's not too much that can be done to hide or improve a woman's aging neck.

Hint, Sarah. Don't wear that fur collar again. Not because of PETA or anything noble like that - nah, just because it creates shadows that accentuate the neck wrinkles.

Embrace your age, Sarah. Learn grace and dignity. Oh - and if you take some voice lessons, people might even try to listen to the shit you spout. Otherwise, get a grip and grow up. Please.

$arah Palin IS petty. The reasons most people don't like her are her own damn fault! Alot of what we have heard about Palin is not "gossip." Most of it comes out of her own damn mouth, or is based on her own damn actions. And, what "good" have the Palins done, other than line their pockets with money? $arah "Death Panels" Palin does nothing but lie, and spread gossip, and attack other people.

I'm so sick of the Palins whining about the "attacks" on their family, as if the whole world revolves around them. They are also not the only family, or people that deal with "haters," and end up in tabloid magazines!

If the Palins want it to stop, they call always go back to Alaska, stay there, and STFU!

I can't sit through these interviews, I think I have to poke my eyeballs with toothpicks this afternoon.

He, he, tuetonic and the others beat me to it with the new leak about the raghead comment to that Imran guy. Yes, it did get worse. Imran was actually trying to be reasonable at first until Willow and Andy started in on him too.

Andy is 18, a senior, supposed to be graduating in the spring of '11. Willow is 16 1/2, she turned 16 in the summer, she does have a drivers license. They are still boyfriend/girlfriend .

Willow should be a junior (or in her third year) of high school, right below Andy, but she was sort of in between a freshman and sophomore before she dropped out. I guess with all the school transfers, and weeks missed, she has been left back a grade or two. She was in some freshman level classes this year, and stated she was "too lazy" to be bothered to go to class and do homework. Willow is no longer on Facebook, I guess that was her punishment.

Now - Sharron Angle - that would be really wild, but either Christine or Sharron (or perhaps that AZ Governor, she of the drooping face and neck aka Joe Lier-berman sytle) could finish off DWTS.

  92. Ok, folks. Mocking the hair won't work. I believe Sarah gets it that we're trying to intimidate her so she'll change it for a less glamorous & sexy style. I have it on good authority that Michelle Obama is eating her heart out that she can't get that same look.

The one episode of SPAlaska with Bristol and it didn't get even an itty bitty blip in ratings from her DWTS 'fame'? Since Bristol is hoping to get a tv deal out her 'fame', she'd better hope Hollywood isn't connecting the dots.

Gryphen - I hope you'll get a 2nd wind and update the post with the biggies from the Hannity clips. I'm curious but I can't bear to watch them myself. Did I read somewhere that she says Todd is leaning toward wanting to run for 2012? Could this mean he's lost his power in Wasilla?

I hope the story about Willow's racist beau, Andy, gets some press. I think it's an even bigger story than the anti-gay remarks (which weren't made to actual gays). Willow's attack on Imran caught my eye because he was taking both sides and trying to be a peacemaker.

Because I read each and every comment in that FB thread and nowhere, NOWHERE was there mention of Trig either generally or specifically. Is this some kind of sick, twisted generalization from "attacking my family" which was itself a sick twisted distortion of the TV show that was "so failin"" - OMG, how dysfunctional and crazy IS this woman?!? Throws down her Down Syndrome child as the justification for her teenage daughter's bullying? Makes my stomach turn.

Hannity must take something to transport him to the Palin universe for these little love fests. Without the use of some enhancer, a normal person would scream "I call BS" in under 60 seconds.

Sarah Palin seemed less medicated and much more practiced than in 2008. Her handlers are getting their product packaged and ready for the big run. She might do quite well in Iowa and NH on just name recognition.

The GOP will keep Palin in play until a clearly viable candidate emerges. We might be stuck with seeing Palin until super tuesday. After that, she'll need to be glowing and wearing a halo to even get an brief appearance on a local talk show.

Thanks Rick @11:30. As someone who actually earned a journalism degree (though mine ONLY took four years) and went on to work in the field for 10 years, this charlatan offends me to no end.

Obviously, that whopping semester of 'communications' (whatever the hell that means) classes failed to teach her the difference between journalism and public relations. A journalist's job isn't to make YOU look good Stupid Sarah. If you want to look good, hire yourself a good PR firm (and maybe a stylist.) Despite Fox's bastardization of what news should be, a good journalist is not supposed to let their biases interfere with reporting the news in a neutral manner.

Surprisingly, I found out years ago that, like Stupid, quite a few people in politics don't understand (or don't want to understand) the difference between journalism and PR. Those people have no business attempting to serve the will of the people.

    o/t but whoa

How could we be this stupid?

In case you have not followed the Afghanistan news lately, the US and the world has been hopeful (delusional?) that the NATO assisted meetings (called outsourcing) between President Karzai and Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Muhammed Mansour might lead to some very successful progress in seeking peace in Afghanistan.

    Well...stop hoping.

First, according to Bob Woodward's new book "OBAMA WARS," President Karzai has serious mental problems (some just say he is crazy.) If this is true, that is not a good choice to outsource to end the war. You want people who are mentally steady, not unsteady.

And now? do you want more?

It turns out that the Mullah Akhtar Muhammed Mansour is an impostor.

So....to whom have we outsourced settling this war? someone with serious mental problems and an impostor. Yes, we had outsourced to a fake!

And ready for more? who knows how much money (your tax dollars) was paid to the impostor.

Now there is serious back pedaling at the White House and in our military leadership. They are all acting like they suspected he was a fake all along or that it is no big deal. Yeah, right.

At school, she'd be subject to petty drama started by brainless idiots. The valley will probably always be a breeding ground for alcoholic teenagers, from good and bad families alike. That is the small town way. and kids tend to be proud of their roots. With her family's life in the lower 48, I'm sure it's hard to concentrate in living a normal life. Substance abuse disorders, So give Gristle some heavy duty antidepressants and a little anti-psychotic for her nerves and voila! Chubbie time!

I don't believe abc and I wouldn't put it past palin to buy the competition for her little girl. They call people that want her off haters. If she could dance that would be one thing, but I want her off because she can't dance. Brandy was much better. Or abc is saying this so mama grizzly can claim that bristol really won, but ACORN screwed with the voting.

    To Sarah Palin:
While working toward my English major at a prestigious, liberal, elite college in the northeast, I took a few writing courses. In one class, the professor went over the methodology in journalism: who, what, when, where, and why. He also added "so what?"

If I were a journalist, I'd like to ask you the so what would you do -- to improve the economy? to keep Americans safe? to gain the respect of the rest of the world? et cetera, et cetera.

Your journalism credentials are suspect, as you don't use them well.

Should you become a contender, I'd like to ask you, Sarah, so what?

  137. I'm tired of waiting for Geoffrey Dunn's book.

He will just have to publish it in volumes, like an encyclopedia, because, obviously, BFO, this "Lies of Sarah Palin" is a saga, not a finite entity.

Reminds me of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series. Good enough to keep you fascinated, weird with just reality enough to keep it believable, strange characters that you just can't make up so it must be true, unendingly cyclical such that you are dizzy and sick by the time you come full circle.

Psychological horror a la Hitchcock; oh, how I wish he were alive to see this one!

Does Joyce Carol Oates need a new story line?

I, too, have noticed in the pictures the last few weeks that her hair looks greasy and strange.

$arah is not taking care of herself, then she tries to fix it up without help.

Remember Jackie Kennedy Onassis' cousins? The crazy ones they made the movie about?

""...the Mullah Akhtar Muhammed Mansour is an impostor....""

Mansour? Related to Sarah Palin's Mansour?

Sarah Palin is in the Al Queda?

    That explains it.

    Finally. Proof.

Anyone know when this photo was taken of Sarah Palin?http://www.seattlepi.com/photos/popupV2.asp?SubID=4259&page=2&GTitle=Sarah%20Palin%3A%20Before%20and%20After

She does look pregnant here. I've never seen this photo before.
I've done some research into Barrow Alaska when Sarah was there June 30, 2008 in a blanket toss. One photographer said she was pregnant, yet I found a picture where she was holding a very small baby in her arms and she was bottle feeding.

If you listened to Howard Stern today, this is what you heard..

"Bristol Palin is the worst dancer ever," seethed Stern. "I'm telling you I could outdance her and I suck d--k. I have no rhythm whatsoever. If Bristol wins I'm leaving America. That's it. I mean, I gotta tell you something. First of all Bristol Palin is the first contestant in the history of Dancing with the Stars to get fatter as the show goes on. It's almost impossible to get fatter. She must be eating everything in sight."

Andy, Willow's BF, better be using very good birth control. If she shows up PG and they break up - he'll be charged with rape since he's 18. Yes, the Palin's would do and say anything to protect the "image" of another "perfect child" and punish the BF by sending him to jail. Be afraid Andy, be very afraid.

why did the tea party moron who posted this on youtube have to use one of my favorite peter gabriel songs - don't give up? as if thesong has anything to do with their crummy movement. the barry williams show song about hypocrites and their hypocrite tv shows would have been more appropriate.
i could only watch so much of this fox love fest. i can't stand the way that sarah trash talks our president. her language towards him is in itself very unpresidential.

I think that your title for the show should go viral: "Sarah Palin Sees Alaska For the First Time"

  152. Anonymous6:34 AM

My lib kid, home for Thanksgiving, told me that he and his friends have been watching the "Alaska" show because it's so funny. Viewers do not mean voters. I think this sums up SP's misunderstood appeal. It's not about her potential to be a leader. I really doubt there are many people that think she could be a good leader (except for core followers, who are infatuated with her image and have been manipulated into believing that she would be a good leader because she understands them... you know, the type that say they are devoted to their religion but don't really do anything day-to-day to show it, have kids who do things because "they're just kids being kids"... that kind of follower.) Everyone else pays attention to her for curiosity. In the meantime, she loves the attention and money and so far is doing very well at getting people to give her both. And unfortunately the media has an interest to keep her name out there for the same reason... making money, even if it means promoting her when as individuals they would rather not. She's not the first to do this and won't be the last. It would be nice to think that someone who speaks in soundbites, with no independent thinking abilities and is just a mouthpiece, would not be able to last long in the political arena, but the fact that Bush was in office for 2 terms proves that isn't always the case (there are, of course, many other examples of this not being the case). And that's why it takes people like this blog to try to keep it real, even if we don't always believe every post and comment, at least it's a dialog that helps people try to separate what we're fed in the media and what's really going on.

  153. I tried to watch but the first five minutes upset me. I'm with Barbara Bush who said, "I think she should stay in Alaska."
