    Very good.

As sarah would say, "Don't retreat, Reload......unless you are using a high capacity, extended magazine that can hold up to 68 rounds".

Correction: Some guns are capable of holding 68 rounds in an extended magazine, however, Loughner had a Glock that held 30 rounds.

    This is from CNN:

Police recovered a 9mm Glock Model 19 handgun believed used in the shooting, according to senior law enforcement sources. The weapon had a 30-round magazine, according to a federal law enforcement source briefed on the investigation. The gun was purchased legally, a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said.

    From CNN:

At the time, Giffords responded to the (crosshairs) map by saying on MSNBC that her long-serving colleagues had "never seen anything like it."

"The thing is, the way that she (Palin) has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district," Giffords said in March. "When people do that, they've got to realize there's consequences to that action."

That made me cry. Well done, Keith, well done!

Life just changed drastically for the Republican Party. They can embrace this sad moment in history and learn from it or they can keep the hateful rhetoric alive.

I watched this last night, and what I took from it is that this incident should motivate all of us to come to our senses. Regardless of whether Palin's remarks are directly responsible, it is clear that she has been a willing and gleeful participant in the kind of hate speech that poisons the political atmosphere and leads to incidents like this one.

Gabrielle was one of the representatives included in Palin's crosshairs map last year, as the result of the passage of the health care reform bill. In addition, she was getting death threats and I understand her office was vandalized. Her opponent in her last election, Jesse Kelly, made inflammatory remarks about removing her from office. When Ms. Gifford did the interview with MSNBC, she had no way of knowing how tragically right she would be. My heart and prayers go out to her and all the others who were victimized by this lunatic, as well as their families.

The right wants the left to own Jared Loughner.
The left wants the right to own Jared Loughner.
No one wants to claim him. He's a crazy monster.

But Keith is right. Everyone should calm down and cut out the violence-laced rhetoric.

So powerful. I hope this starts a national "refudiation" of violent speech in politics. Marianne williamson's letter of March in AND SO IT GOES under Sarah palins least favorite blogs says it too. Sarah must take the blame for most of the violent speech and actions of others as she wants to be considered the leader of the movement. Leaders set the direction and tone. Sarah's hateful, erratic, violent, take no prisoner's laden rhetoric contrasts with Obama's rational calm and adult leadership.

I love the way that Keith Olbermann clearly (and CORRECTLY) repeatedly uses the word "repudiate" instead of Ms. Brainless's version of the word.

Thanks Griffin, I hadn't realized that Olbermann had been on last night.

His Special Comment goes straight to the heart of the issue.

I want to cheer, but all I can do is cry, that we have come to this.

You may want to be careful with what you write. Writing "her still alive daughters" is almost asking one of your deranged fans to off them too. If something happens to any of them, this post could be used somehow

  12. To anonymus 7:07...Are you kidding ??? Where are the violent words that would inspire anyone to take up a weapon ? I don't know what game you're trying to play, but you're not funny. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

7:07 a.m., there is nothing in the comment about "her still alive daughters" that indicates Gryphen wishes them harm. He is simply pointing out that another mother is without her daughter today and for the rest of her life, and Palin's hate and vitriol are at least partly to blame.

  14. Gryph, thanks for posting this. Olbermann is still The Man.

  15. This should be required viewing for anyone who cares about the tenor of discourse in America.

Olbermann is the Ann Coulter of the left if you listen to the right tell it, but there's no one on the right willing to spell it out like this. His courage is amazing to me, and I'm more impressed every day.
