Megyn Kelly of Fox News tries desperately to convince Sheriff Dupnik to walk back his criticism of the hate speech that has become synonymous with the cable news station that employs her.

Ms. Kelly does her damnedest to get the Sheriff to soften his criticisms, but he simply will not give her that satisfaction.  Nor, in my opinion, should he.

I can't even go to FAUX to make fun of them now!

Sarah Palin did what should have gotten her into trouble when she did it. She has not been spreading peace. Jared seems to have acted on his own, but if she didn't put up cross hairs, there'd be no mental link for us. There is now a mental link. She defended putting that up. She has no humility or compassion.

You can tell Sheriff Dupnik has had to wrangle words with wing nuts for quite awhile. He does a fine job.

Let's see if we can turn this ship sailing toward destruction around. Let's see if Faux News learns anything.

I hope your readers will comment regularly on many sites, letting right wing media know that their poison will no longer result in big profits.

    Peace.

That segment didn´t work out too well for Megyn Kelly. She came across as someone who was suddenly very obsessed with ¨facts,¨ making her appear cold and hard. In comparison, Sheriff Dupnik came across as compassionate, professional, and sincere.

Here are two ¨facts¨ for you, Megyn:

    1. Christina Taylor Green was the only girl on her Little League baseball team.

    2. Christina Taylor Green played second base.

  10. Can you imagine all the damage control conversations that are going on in Palin's camp right now?!! There isn't one media outlet who isn't reporting, in one way or another, Palin's name and her bullseye map in relation to the assassination attempt on Rep. Giffords. $arah is NOT having a good day today and that should please all of us here. The SeaofPea are all sucking their thumbs and mumbling into their blankies about how their messiah didn't "mean" anything by the crosshairs, and that she's done nothing wrong.... aaaaalll will be ok...hush little baby, go to sleep.

I think many of us have been waiting for something to happen, for a Beck or Palin supporter to carry the hateful and false rhetoric to its conclusion.

Whether or not this particular gunman even knows who Palin is, the truth is that 1) the gunman is of the same ilk as them: pathological distrust of the government (um, remember the Palins' association with the AIP?), 2) $arah will forever be associated in the negative with this slaughter, regardless of whether he saw the bullseye map or heard her speak, regardless of how her camp tries to spin it (and won't THAT be interesting to see in the next few days); 3) unfortunately this will probably not be the last extremely violent act against a Democrat; 4) I repeat number 2).

What I wouldn't give to see someone interview her on TV about the shooting, like maybe one of her Fox buddies, and repeat back what she said about not believing in coincidences.

And, a call for all you Wasillians or otherwise placed in-the-know's regarding Sarah's skeletons new and old: As long as you are silent and let Sarah Palin continue to be in the public eye and given a forum to speak everywhere she wants (for ratings, for money), you too are partially responsible. Silence does not excuse someone from complicity. Speak up - more people than not will cheer you for it.

    Two different thoughts

I don't think it usually does much good to contact networks about their content, particularly Faux since they know we aren't their core. However it does help to contact advertisers on their programs. I have done that and think it is the only way to go.

If one wants an example of how vile hate speech can be, I suggest you go to the web site of the Westboro Baptist Church (they are the ones who picket soldiers funerals and plan on picketing the funerals of those just killed in the Arizona shootings. Try to find the clip of the "minister". He celebrates the deaths and hopes there will be more.

Sarah Palin, SarahPac and all of them are not out of the woods. The FBI isn't ignoring "hate speech." An attempted assassination of a targeted elected official, staff, a deceased Federal Judge, a nine year old and older civic minded citizens, their injuries and death will not be swept under a rug.

"FBI Director Robert Mueller, addressing reporters at a Pima County Sheriff's briefing, said "it is too early to determine the motive" in the shooting. Responding to a question about the link between violent language online and the gunman's actions, Dir. Mueller said that 'hate speech on the Internet presents a challenge to us.'"

    Greetings Mr. Gryphen,

I have been following stories all day for updates but can't seem to get the thought out of my mind regarding how coincidental it is that Palin and her team moves to Arizona -- perhaps for a new political future -- and the Congressman gets shot almost immediately after her daughter Bristol buys a home. That doesn't stink to you?

    It's just a thought.

It's rather ironic that Faux News commentator Megyn Kelly would publicly chastise this Sheriff for "putting a political spin" on a story. Her explanation that the guy was unstable and NOBODY else is to blame, just doesn't fly.

Guess what? People who do these things are ALWAYS unstable, there's nothing new to that. But the vast majority of us know that these people exist, and we don't rile them up by putting crosshairs on our opponents heads!

We know that assassination attempts tend to happen during periods of civil strife; usually involving racial unrest and financial insecurity.

Sarah Palin was defeated by the first ever elected black President. During the worst financial crisis in eighty years. She knew that, and she fed off of it. Fanned the flames and damned the consequences!

    From Digital History;

"Who are the individuals who have attempted to murder our national leaders? Have they tended to be alienated, psychotic misfits, living on the margins of society and craving publicity? Or have they tended to be rational individuals with clearly defined political goals? In general, assailants have tended to be outsiders, unusually sensitive to the political cults or sensations of the time."

Yes Sarah, we all know that these "unusually sensitive misfits" exist. And YOU knew it too. YOU knew and you incited the masses in spite of it. YOU have culpability in this tragedy. Unfortunately you most likely will never feel even one molecule of remorse, because you have never accepted blame for anything in your life.

I guess it kind of sucks to be part of FauxNews right about now. Too damn bad. They are as responsible as any entity in this country for the vitriol, the demagoguery, the hyperbole, the hatespeak, the fear mongering, and the denigration of any and all who do not conform to their narrow minded, racist, nativist GOP propaganda.

I hope that at least a few of the on air baboons at FauxNews are haunted by the faces of those who died in Tucson on Saturday. They should be. Had they not done Murdoch's bidding and helped to cheapen and degrade political discourse in this country, maybe if FauxNews didn't endlessly spew forth its anti American diatribes 24/7, it is entirely possible that Jared Loughner might not have been compelled do what he did.

Certainly, there is no one incident that may be cited as a point of genesis that pushed Loughner over the edge, but surely FauxNews and their fellow travelers created an environment in which the delusional, the marginalized, the mentally unstable misfits on the fringe of society found their insane conspiracies succored by all that they heard from Murdoch’s henchmen and women.

As I see it Megyn Kelly, you - and everyone else at FauxNews - helped put the gun in Loughner's hand, you helped him pull the trigger, and you helped him reload. It's a bit late for squeamishness now.

God damn and go to hell to Megyn Kelly, Murdoch and everyone else at FauxNews.

I just want to tell Palin and her family that I think they are the epitome of hate/evil. I have never seen or heard of them doing anything for anyone without getting paid to do so. They are all that is wrong with this country, and rather than help us come together, they try to pull us apart with the hate and the racisim and I wish them gone.

I wish no harm to come to them, but I wish them gone. They have no place in a peace loving society. Kiss my ass, go to hell, eat sh*t, eff off. Not very elequent, but you get where I'm going. Leave us alone and preach hate in your own house. I have seen enough of you and your evil ways.

I noticed MK emphasized that Sheriff Dupnik is a democrat so that the non-news network can use him as a means of deflecting blame from itself because they HAVE been busy as MK said, "Stirring the pot." Every one of the entertainers who work there know they've been actively promoting the violent rhetoric and behaviors. Sheriff Dupnik told the unvarnished truth, and the Pox non-new network wants to avoid exposing its viewers to the truth because, if it does, they might begin to think for themselves.

  32. One thing that has come from this tragedy is that a fine man like Sheriff Dupnik is now known to the world. He is an inspiration to all who serve in law enforcement. (I wanted to say he was a "straight shooter" but I'm trying now to purge any such images from my vocabulary.) But he is a truthful, professional and compassionate representative of what we hope this country to be. As to Megyn Kelly: nice try, but you can't detach yourself that easily from your network's inflammatory rhetoric, distortion and outright lies that are fashioned in order to further the right wing agenda.

I really really though that glenn beck was going to serve as an inspiration for assassination on the level we saw Sat.

What will fox news do? Glenn beck is crazy and paranoid, sarah palin has inspired violence with her targets and "don't retreat, reload" and they have o'reilly, "Tiller, the baby killer".

How will they walk from this violence?

I don't think they will. It is too profitable for them and their viewers are demanding this.
Nothing will change I am afraid until violence strikes closer to the republican base. Only then will the horror of what they have wrought be understood.
And I am not advocating ANY further violence. But republicans do not seem to learn from history and they push the envelpoe.

However, of all the wackos over there at faux, she seems to be the most sane. The most telling about the interview and all of their actions, is how hard they are working to discount the entire world's observations. Moore said it best in his tweet. Where would a Muslim man/woman be sitting right now if they posted a map on the internet with crosshairs targeting a political person? Good job to Sheriff Dupnik. Karma is a bitch, isn't it scara?

  40. Anonymous4:14 AM

Kelly all but accuses the Sheriff of inappropriately sharing his political views. However, what she fails to understand (or admit) is that, by virtue of his job, he clearly sees how the angry and violent political atmosphere in AZ and throughout the country is directly contributing to the increase in threats, violent behavior and crime. It IS, in fact, his responsibility as Sheriff to examine the causes of crime and to anticipate when circumstances may lead to violence. It IS also his job to look for ways to reduce the tensions that lead to violent conflict.

I also find it interesting that Sheriff Arpaio is enthusiastically celebrated by the right for being outspoken and far more political than Sheriff Dupnik who is roundly criticized for his far less melodramatic behavior.

    Double standard at work, perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous4:21 AM

One glaring point Megan tried to make about the sheriff knowing whether or not he had any facts about the shooter watching tv or listening to radio was beyond weak. Come on, faux, is that the best you can do. The kid is 22 years old with it seems basically nothing to do all day and smokes pot--what in the world do you think he is doing, knitting at the park? He is watching TV, probably all day/night long. If not, then he is surely on the internet. It appears that for as bat shit crazy he is, he was also curious and probably trying to formulate who he was or wanted to be when he grew up. Unfortunately for us, he was surely listening and watching the wrong people and mentally ill at the same time. THAT is why it needs to be discussed and a shame that death has to bring the topic forward. It is so exhausting that we all have to deal with such nimwits on the right.

I found it amazing (or downright depressing) that Kelly tried the old gambit of "blaming the victim".

He has been the one to see and investigate threats that are sent to the elected officials. He has read the tone and the words that are used in those threats. I would guess that it sounds very much like what is said on conservative talk shows and Fox News. The gold and silver currency talk sounds like Glen Beck.

My father proudly states he will only watch Fox News. The forwarded emails he gets are full of screaming caps and OUTRAGE! Trying to show him facts or real information does no good. First the news break that her toad was preferring to hump a "SAMBO" masseuse instead of her lily white spandexed ass and now actually being blamed for what she did and continued to do even after many people including her specified victim, Congresswoman Gabrielle warned her of the consequinces of the dangerous rhetoric and imagery she was using.

Yes, the screeching bitch from the sewers of Wasilla is as guilty of murder as Charlie Manson who is spending his life behind bars.

Her "reloading" dayadee Chuckie isn't going to be able to "reload" this one for her! The whole world knows she is responsible for the dastardly deed along with the assholes pretending to be newspersons at faux and old McCain for introducing his madeover lipsticked pig to the highly contageous political spotlight and the ultimate luxuries that big money can buy, inflating her already oversized ego to epic proportions and turned her into the greedy, media whore pimping for pay most willingly that we see today. Like George Bush, everything she touched turns to sh*t!

    If the Palins lived back in the Prescot Bush era the whole family would have been steralized as being unfit (one of Hitlers little programs to "Purify" the race, called eugenecs) as they did to many women of "inferior character" who became pregnant without being married. See EUGENICS in the USA;

How's that badass rogue "reload, killing for pleasure, targeting, take back our country, Second Amendment remedy" thingy goin' for ya now Sarah? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Hope you get indicted and get a cell next to Manson!

Also hope that everyone who was hurt and the families of the victims all sue the hell out of you and Murdock's Fox maniacs for every cent that any of you have or ever will have.

Oh Fox News, you are masters of the "some say" school of reporting... "Some are saying that it's inappropriate to speculate..."

Who is saying that Megyn? I mean, apart from your co-workers at Faux?

I, for one, don't want to see Fox forcibly removed from the air. As deplorable as the garbage is that they put on the airwaves, this is still a nation that holds free speech as a sacred right.

    However...

What I WOULD love to see is Fox becoming obsolete by virtue of their audience abandoning them. I realize that it will never happen because there will always be a fringe of people who will agree with them, but the most 'American' way of eliminating them is to render them unprofitable.

    Oh well, I can dream...

That woman is so incredibly annoying. I listened to this so I could hear the good sheriff. That I also had to listen to her stupid questions was quite unfortunate.
