She won over the Academy, but Natalie Portman doesn't have a fan in presidential prospect Mike Huckabee.
The former Arkansas governor and Fox News Channel host attacked the best actress winner, 29, who's currently expecting her first child with fiance Benjamin Millepied.
"People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, 'we're not married but we're having these children and they're doing just fine," Huckabee told radio host Michael Medved on his show Monday. "I think it gives a distorted image. It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of- wedlock children."
Calling Portman's pregnancy "troubling," Huckabee went on to say that many single parents don't have the resources to hire help, the way someone like the Black Swan star would.
Are we SURE Huckabee was talking about Natalie Portman? Because what he describes concerning the fact that her ability to raise this child as a single mother is not typical of what single mothers go through reminds me of somebody.
Wait, don't tell me.
Gee it is right on the tip of my tongue, who was that again?
Oh yeah, her!
Well isn't it interesting that Huckabee attacks a famous single mother when perhaps the most famous single mom in the country is the daughter of his most direct competition for the evangelical vote? What a coinky dink!
You don't think that Huckabee might be using a little diversion here do you? You know, attacking Portman for choosing to get pregnant out of wedlock, and then sort of using that as a cowardly way to actually attack Sarah Palin's daughter for making the raising of a child as a single mother look easy due to her personal wealth and that of her family?
I mean that would just be ugly if he were to do something like that. And he is supposed to be the nice Republican candidate, isn't he?
I wonder what the Grizzled Mama herself thinks about this judgemental tone concerning single motherhood, and its possible reflection on Bristol?
Uh oh Huck! I think you may have to watch your ass around the Fox studios for awhile. I can tell you right now that Sister Sarah does NOT pull any punches when she believes that somebody has gone after one of her children.
Now excuse me while I go to find a comfortable chair and get a big bowl of popcorn, because this is one battle I do NOT want to miss!
Attacking Bartool by proxy. I love it! But just one thing, should we be asking Huck if he would be happier if these women just aborted those unborn tax payers?
ReplyDelete2 retards in a sandbox. Next they'll argue about god and religion. I'd love to see that debate. Anyone got a hot line to Roger Allies?
ReplyDeleteLet's see how long it takes Palin to label Huckabee a pedophile, since that seems to be her tried and true M.O. when she thinks her kids are being "attacked"
ReplyDeleteYeah, but Fuckabee's a Repug. That means Quitler will simply pretend she never heard a word he said.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee can kiss my ass!
ReplyDeleteHoly $hit.
ReplyDeleteThe republi-lemmings. We chase stupidity to jump off the cliff.
Is critical thinking really that hard?
The reality is, Natalie and Bristol couldn't be more different. I read a great article about Natalie yesterday (maybe in NYT?) about how amazingly smart she is on top of her terrific talents as a result of her incredibly hard work.
ReplyDeleteYou took the words right out of my mouth, Gryphen. I agree that Natalie is Huck's proxy for The Pistol. It's his sly way of telling the Conservative Base: Sarah Palin and her brood aren't really "like us" after all. It's those "Hollywood celebrity" types that start out as single mothers. God's opening a door for Huck and he's hoping the Base doesn't need a lot of help finding their way in...
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretentious ass.
ReplyDeleteNatalie Portman has 1000 times the class this ass hat does.
There will be no battle.
ReplyDeleteThe Huckster will act hillbilly clueless and Palin will pretend she didn't hear it.
And goodness knows a twenty-nine year old professional woman in a committed relationship with another adult is just the same as two uneducated teenagers getting pregnant--huh Huck? These people are disgusting.
I'm with you G. So how long will it be before we here a twitter from the woman who is all who represents hypocrisy?
ReplyDeleteLooks like Huck has ventured into the land of "real" evangelicism. He is taking on the tea bag cloak and probably going to fall by it.
Hmm, I wonder what the statistics are for out-of-wedlock birth in Arkansas?
ReplyDeleteHuck, you got any info about that?
>>> Tom
The teabaggers are kicking, screamin and up to dirty tricks.. they just don't like coming into the 21st Century...
ReplyDeleteI certainly took Huckabee's statements as a shove it to Palin. And yes, there is no way that Natalie compares to Bristol. GAG! Bristol is "trashy".
I do not watch Fox Noise so I do not know what sort of relationship Hucksterbee has with Sarah Failin'. But I do not assume that he is attacking Palin by proxy. He might think that NP is setting a bad example and think the the Palins are wonderful people. Do not underestimate fundagelical's ability to withstand cognitive dissonance and only see what they want to see. How many speeches has Bristol given about abstinence? How can a church think that a woman who is cashing in on her pregnancy is a good advocate for waiting? Yet they do.
ReplyDeleteI think for a lot of religious people, religion is not about them doing the right thing with their lives, taking responsibilty for themselves, making the world a better place, helping others, caring about something larger than themselves or any of that. I think for a lot of them religion is a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card. They are King David Christians: They screw up, tell God they are sorry, and then just repeat that cycle over and over. They also excuse the bad behavior of other Christians as well. It's not about your actions or results with a lot of these people, it's just whether or not you SAY you believe.
Perhaps he is using NP as a backdoor way of criticizing Palin. I just think we should be open to other possibilities.
Portman has a degree from Harvard and actually works for a living. Bristol is worthy of scrutiny.
ReplyDeleteNatalie Portman is engaged to marry the father of her soon-to-be-born baby.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin was pregnant with Track when she and Todd got married.
Huckabee is making a comment, not only about women like Bristol, but women like Sarah.
Of course, Sarah there is serious doubt that Todd is Track's biological father, which blows Natalie's (and Bristol's) situation out of the water.
Is it just me, or is Huck porking up again? Is it stress eating?
ReplyDeleteAnon 5:51 _ LOVE IT! Sweet!
ReplyDeleteLet's see - Dan Quayle attacked the fictional character Murphy Brown because she dared to carry and birth a child without the "benefit" of marriage. As I recall, that didn't turn out too well for Danny boy. I suspect this may end badly for Mikey boy a well.
ReplyDeleteOut of wedLOCK or out of wedWEIGHT? Marriage is not for everyone and making the government acknowledge relationships is just more government!
ReplyDeleteCan we start calling Mike HUCKabee Richard? I think he's a Richard.
Sarah can't attack Huckabeen cause he didn't actually come out and refer to "B". But we know who he meant. Yes, the battle is on, and the gloves are off. T'will be interesting to see if these two self-proclaimed christians can actually walk the walk while in the ring.
ReplyDeleteCome on Gryph. Sarah won't say a word about it or will make excuses for Huckabee, just like she did for Rush the Retard.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee is part of the team, so he gets a pass. Besides, Sarah doesn't want to unleash all the crap the Repubs have on her that they use to keep her in line.
I'll bet her head is smoking. She's trapped.
Rick
Yup. If anything were true, she would attack him, but she won't. It's her dog, and it's her fight. Let's see how she plays it; it's gonna be fun.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget that Natalie is Jewish. Out of wedlock formerly tiny Hollywood actress? Ohhh, which way to hate...
ReplyDelete6:41pm
ReplyDeleteYou are probably correct. Also too, Portman is one of the "Chosen Ones" so that would render her unable to seek redemption from Jeebus. Those people freak the fundies out as well, although they have to support a strong Israel and pretend to like Jews so that they can be raptured.
Of course Huck was just using "satire".
ReplyDeleteThat is a horrible picture of Bristol. She looks like a young Chuck Heath in drag. Please take it down for the sake of your readers who experience night terrors.
ReplyDeleteLOL - am going to enjoy the pre-candidate "my Gawd is bigger & better than your Gawd" now - cause after 19 months before the next election it'll get real frustrating.
ReplyDeletePass the popcorn please.
IOKIYAR they're all hypocrites
ReplyDeleteIs that a new pic of Bristol? That squarish mom chin makes her look a little troll-like. How petty is that?
ReplyDeleteo/t but this shit is funny
ReplyDeleteI was talking to a friend who worked in tv in nyc for a loooong time and his tidbits about select celebs are awesome
Barbara walters is a bad bitch. Hardcore to the end and can get away with anything. Always professional but ever the cunt
Larry king is a huge farter and THE most insensitive person ever. When he interviewed chris reeve post accident, he went to shake his hand. He also had enormous amts of back acne from bad higiene and he can't do anything for himself. He never speaks off the cuff. If its not on the cue cards, he doesn't say it. Literally.
Diane sawyer was a huge slut. Huge. During the nixon stuff, she sucked everyones dick
Peter jennings was the only truly decent man on tv.
Every technician and person in the business HATES martha stewart.
Rosie odonnell was a nice girl until pat kingsley and the RO show.
More to come. Lesson here? People with power and of the elite are genrally assholes
Natalie Portman was already a famous actress, with talent, before she became pregnant. I doubt that we are going to see Natalie lecturing other girls to pause before they play. It looks as if she will be marrying the father of her child.
ReplyDeleteBristol, like other girls, had a baby before she graduated high school. Unlike most of those girls, Bristol's publicity crazed mother set her up to give abstinence speeches. I'm sure that it was Sarah who orchestrated Bristol's appearance on Dancing with the Stars and the book deal. Unlike Natalie, Bristol is not all that pretty, does not speak well, and shows her level of maturity when she wants to give the middle finger to America. Bristol's only talent is cashing in on being a single mother.
Would Huck have preferred she abort?
ReplyDelete@7:15 & 7:20--I agree. Palin is trapped. But, she is so stupid sometimes that she might just say something--which would bring more attention to Bristol's situation. She's done it before--and never seems to learn.
ReplyDeleteOT--Palin is trying to "clarify" her tweet at Daily Caller by way of a statement in regards to Supreme CT decision about Westboro. Such an idiot. (I can't post link)
ReplyDeleteI think the GOP has set the machinery in motion to slowly push Ms. quittypants out of the picture by making these sly and cutting remarks. They know she is chomping at the bit to respond to this (can you imagine if a Democrat had said this? Oh my!) and she really can't because it is coming from her own side. LMAO! It is totally popcorn time.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a big man to attack pregnant mothers.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he has the guts to go after anyone in a position of real power.
You know, wouldn't it be a bit difficult for her to ignore it if some C4pee'er started attacking Huckabee about it??? Even just part time once in awhile C4pee'ers? Or postng how mad they were at Huck for attacking poor Bitchtol, I mean Bristol, on $carah's facebook wall?
ReplyDeleteCognitive dissonance is right.
ReplyDeleteDon't make the mistake of thinking you are thinking like they do. They don't.
They don't hear what they don't want to hear. They don't really think.
Hollywood: Bad.
Sex: Bad.
Dancing With the Stars: BAD
Single mom Bristol taking time off from abstinence speeches to win DWTS: How do we spam the votes? She HAS to win.
What Sarah is really pissed about is that Huckabee got to use the Obama Kenya Mau Mau Muslim lie. And is still working it.
ReplyDeleteAfter Piper googled it and showed her what it was all about she was really mad. She is still trying to decide how to spell mow mow on her hand.
Huck and Scarah should both be out promoting condum & diaphram use.
ReplyDeleteLike candyass and loosepuss: living examples of rampant unrestrained carnal desires mixed with errant sperm.
Socks & corks for dorks & porks!
What's sad is, Huckabee is really only politician who is essentially honest. Yes he may say insensitive things about gays, but that is part of his belief system. He's really the ONLY politico we can trust
ReplyDeleteto 6:45, while I agree that Natalie isn't like a knocked up slutty teen, Sarah wasn't either. And yes, Todd is Track's father
ReplyDeleteA 13 year-old knocked up by a 30 year-old "boyfriend" should make lemons out of lemonade. But successful, adult women are "bad influences" for choosing to have children out of wedlock.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee just took himself out of the running. No one wants a president who expects all unmarried citizens to be abstinent. Something tells me this was orchestrated to give Sarah the "no one else is running" reason to throw her hat in the ring.
this has nothing to do with this article but I'd like to say.. If you are a teacher here in Anchorage and you vote Republican you are the dumbest son of a bitch in the world!!! I bet Gryphen would agree with this.
ReplyDeleteI think I will add to this. this has nothing to do with this article but I'd like to say.. If you are a teacher, cop or fireman here in Anchorage and you vote Republican you are the dumbest son of a bitch in the world!!! I bet Gryphen would agree with this.
ReplyDeletehttp://foodnetworkhumor.com/2011/02/another-classic-food-network-search-result/
ReplyDeleteShe'll go after these guys.
anon @10:00.... on your 1st point you're absolutely correct, on the other 2 points after that those can be part and parcel of your little fantasy
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:00: Sarah got pregnant by someone before she was married. And, boy howdy, Track sure looks way more like a Menard than a Palin. It's actually jaw-dropping when you compare him with pictures of Curtis Jr and Linda Menard (Curtis Jr's mother).
ReplyDeleteNow, are we supposed to take your word for it that Track is Todd's biological son? Are we supposed to take Sarah's word? If there's one thing we've learned, it's that Sarah's word isn't worth anything at all.
And we should only care if Sarah tries to pass herself off as some kind of an example of family values. And, of course, she does. As usual, it's not the behavior, but the hypocrisy.
I do wonder if Huckabee is firing a warning shot across the bow of Sarah's potential candidacy. He's much more of practicing Christian than Sarah. He's also a lot smarter than her and a ruthless bastard. He's not about to just hand over the Christian vote to her. That's pretty much all he has at this point.
Huckabee seems to be throwing up Hail Marys and the Republican primary race hasn't even begun yet.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:58 pm -- Huckabee is NOT honest and CANNOT be trusted.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to his "kind and Christian" criticism of Natalie Portman keeping her baby, he has been telling deliberate lies about Pres. Obama's childhood, upbringing, and loyalty to America - Huckabee is as dishonest and hypocritical as any politician.
Can any of these people talk about anything except sex, babies and abortion.
ReplyDeleteHow about the economy, health care, employment, infrastructure, the price of oil or mortgages - you know the things most normal folks have issues with.
Hard to believe the bs these people speak and how irrelevant it is to most people's lives.
Somone should suggest to this man that all the unmarried pregnant girls have abortions - that might shut him up.
grrrrrrrrrr
Huckabee and Sarah should just battle it out by whipping out their single-barreled pump-action shotguns. Whoever's is longest wins.
ReplyDeleteNatalie Portman: 29 years old when pregant, Harvard graduate, working since a child (played Anne Frank on Broadway in her young teens), Oscar winning actress, businesswoman, humanitarian, green advocate. Literate and articulate Father is a renowned fertility OB. Stay at home mom.
ReplyDeleteHubristol: 16 y/o when pregnant (ist time), possible HS diploma bought, not earned, no college, no job skills. Father not educated. Mother insane. Funtionally illiterate and vocabulary limited to "awesome" and "it sucks!"
Also, too, does Huckabee realize that the intact nuclear family is now in the minority in the US? He just pissed off s good portion of the country. Good luck with that primary Huck!!
Natalie Portman was a science scholar and won an honor in 1999.
ReplyDeleteShe has more intelligence than Huckleberry & the whole Palin Klan combined.
http://tinyurl.com/4r9rcqb
anon@9:58. How cute is this? Mike Huckabee is a fan of IM. Hi Mike! Sweetie, next time you post, use your real name. It would be "honest".
ReplyDeleteinside the beltway

the sunbelt/evangelical belt has a teen pregnancy problem.
He can talk about others, in his neck of the woods what they are doing and Saying they are doing are 2 different things.
While I do not agree with having children prior to marriage, I do feel everyone is entitled to their free agency to make that choice for themselves. I hope my daughters marry before children.
ReplyDeletethat said, Ms. Portman is an adult, who appears to be in a committed relationship. Ms. Palin is a grifter. There really is no comparison. One has talent on the stage, the other.. talent in the sheets.
I don't know if SP would even catch the connection. Coming from an Evangelical background they only complain about "outsiders" becoming pregnant out of wedlock.
ReplyDeleteThe same rules that they have for others doesn't ever apply to them. I would think you would have already realized that;)
DebinOH
I'll bet Bristol is feeling pretty pumped up at being compared to Ms. Portman!!
ReplyDeleteNote to Bristol. You are not even fit to tie her ballet slippers!
6:35 No, they don't like coming into the last half of the 20th century.
ReplyDeleteJezzebells!
ReplyDeleteFYI Morning Joe is yakking about it now.
There is one huge difference between Portman and Wasilla Disaster. Portman was an accomplished actress long before she got pregnant. Disaster on the other hand got knocked up for moms political objectives and parlayed that into notoriety.
ReplyDeleteReally Huckabee? REALLY!? You're picking on one of the most intelligent and talented in Hollywood today?
ReplyDeleteYeah. That'll endear you to lots of people.
And as others have said. What about Bristol? Huh? One known baby out of wedlock, (possibly more) and she never NEVER married.
I am not happy with Huckabee's observation that glamorizing bastard children is a bad thing. I think it is a wonderful thing. It promotes unwed motherhood. The influence pop-culture celebrities have on young men and women is tremendous. By glamorizing Portman we will strengthen the image that unwed motherhood is good. Irrefutable data show that unwed mothers and their children are the singlemost poorest, least educated, least healthy and most prone to crime and drug abuse groups in America. This will make it easier for my legitimate children of dual income parents to succeed. The irony is, of course, Portman has the money to raise her child with or without the child's father, but most unwed mothers don't. The pie is not getting bigger. The less the little bastards have, the more my children will get.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee is reaching. To say that Natalie Portman is glamorizing unwed motherhood is a false.
ReplyDeleteNo one is going to look at a pregnant Natalie Portman and think, "Gosh! That could be me!" Portman is a successful actress and college graduate who happens to be pregnant. People understand the glamor comes from the acting and education (and beauty), not from the baby belly. No one is going to get pregnant and think they can have Portman's life.
On the other hand, there's now dozens of "unwed moms" whose only claim to fame and riches is the fact they've had a baby out of wedlock. I think young girls absolutely look at teens like Bristol and the other reality stars and think "That could be me on the cover of US! Weekly!"
On Morning Joe they laughed at Huckabee's statements. Pat Buchanan asserted Huckabee did make a valid point about most single parents would not have the financial resources.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am appalled by regarding Bristol and Levi's national pregnancy and the developments is the dishonest messaging from the Palin's inclusive of lies to elevate Bristol's part time job in the dermatology office.
It is reprehensible to me that any spokesperson take a stance then proceed to spin lies to paint a false persona of self without conscience mislead and lead impressionable youth down a primrose path. Sarah Palin and Bristol grossly exaggerate and did what they could to portray Bristol as exemplary buying real estate, no financial help, working her ass off going to college able to furnish a condo, truck, etc etc from the meager entry level salary. Bull shit and there are people who justify dropping out of school delusional they too can do it at minimum wage and in couture evening wear.
Their greatest accomplishment is crafting diabolical self serving lies to feed people to control envy and admiration as super extraordinary. Isn't Bristol so amazing to do all that (what f'ing college...full time job, toils with no help from anyone...lies by omission about child support received) webs of deception uncaring lives shall be ruined by the duped. Sadly they seem to believe their own lies and have no human decency enjoying false idolatry that shall bring others down duped by their fiction.
People like this are a black hole, insatiable for somewhere in their psyche they know they falsified self and lied about others to appear grander and mislead people to do what they did not to effectively sabotage them or disadvantage them purposefully so they can win or beat others one upping. In te they demand praise, kudos beyond their actual accomplishments. They rage and are vindictive when anyone presents reality perceiving attacks.
I think it is vital to society Huckabee and others speak to cold reality of costs and responsibilities to raise a child and burst the BS bubble the Palin's crafted. They lie setting up a generation to act out falsehoods and be on government aide, subsidized housing and another generation of developmentally delayed uneducated angry oblivious to the reality of work and financial reality.
You are exactly right, Gryphen, this is Huckabee's cowardly way to make an attack on Sarah Palin's "family values." Well, this is what happens when you get two Christian frauds in the boxing ring together. Their TRUE colors show.
ReplyDeleteNatalie Portman is not going to be a "Single parent" - the father of her baby is right beside her. And even if he wasn't, that doesn't mean Portman would be be any less of a mother. But thanks a lot Huckabee for painting this bright and accomplished young woman, who is obviously thrilled that she's about to become a mom, as some sort of immoral whore just so you can make a sneaky attack on another fake Christian like yourself.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the guy, but I can see a half assed point in there - most single mothers DON'T have the cash to hire help so they can work. They have to rely on family *if there are any around* and they have to rely on day care or sitters which take a hefty hunk of change. Of course, Portman has every right to have a child when she sees fit, married or not.
ReplyDeleteArkansas is on the top 10 list of states with the highest teenage pregnancy rates. It's also on the top 10 list of live births to girls aged 15 to 19. Anybody know anything about north Arkansas? Apparently, the teen pregnancy rates are highest there. Biggest culprit: Ignorance. Parents don't talk about sex. Girls don't know where to go to get resources. Boys--just plain old dumb and irresponsible.
ReplyDeleteSo, Huckabee, as a former Arkansas governor, what do you think about that?
For those who are saying Fuckabee has a point, BS.
ReplyDeleteYes, Portman may be a role model to young girls - hand here's what that role model say - finish your education, find a career you like and are good at, (that education is Plan B) become financially stable, then start a family. Telling young women they need to be financially secure on their own, is wonderful, considering 50% of marriages end in divorce. Overall I'd say that Portman's a great role model.
Bitchtol as role model says: get preggers as a teen, drop out of high school and don't get an education. Have nasty and public break up with fiance, lather, rinse, repeat, then lie about income, publicly flaunt your neurosis or second pregnancy while exhibiting an unhealthy body in ways which directly contradict the words coming out of your mouth - modesty and hard work. Then get really nasty with people who point out your hypocrisy, then find new boyfriend to shack up with while doubling down on the hypocrisy.
Role model, shit, I wouldn't let Bitchtol babysit my pet gerbil, let alone within 20 feet of my kids.
It just shows the hypocrisy of the right. He never came out, when sarah came on the scene with a pregnant teenager no!. In fact I remember when sarah got off the plane withfamily &Levi Everything was so wonderful. Mccain and all there waiting for them, to at the convention. Bristol & Levi they were just treated like royality, everybody telling them how wonderful they were ,being pregnant, but getting married. I was thinking this is not how they usually treat people this situation. How fake, No teenager 17 or 18 wants to sit around at a republican convention.(how bored they must have been). Now it's wrong for a grown 29 yr old who also is going to marry b b/friend, won an Oscar, and said she had to lose weight and practice everyday hours for a year, for that role.( must have a better work ettic than Bristol) I know shw was in some Star wars. Well, now that they bad mouthed her about her pregnancy, she can throw religion, her book will be more interesting and much longer than Bristol's.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to a fake Christian to take a young woman's joy over her imminent motherhood and attempt to turn it into something dirty and shameful instead.
ReplyDeleteThese are the direct descendents of the mob that wanted to stone the adulteress in the Bible - and the ones that Jesus told not to cast a stone unless they were free of sin themselves.
Lets see if you are a true blogger or a left wing nutcase. I have the impression that you are a left wing atheist nutcase. Huckabee would say the same thing about Palin's daughter. You are so biased that your blogs lose all credibility.
ReplyDeleteAs I said. Palin is ignoring this. No response. Crickets.
ReplyDeleteEvery time President Obama says something, she HAS to respond. But Rush, Huckabee, and all the others from the right get a pass. Sarah has lost her credibility and doesn't have a clue to that fact.
Rick
Anon 6:43, the problem is that Huckabee has NOT said the same thing about Palin's kid. Nope. He'd rather go after a nearly 30 year old accomplished woman with an ivy league degree. The perfect target to make trogs like you nod their heads and drool in agreement. Are you still pissed off about what Murphy Brown did?
ReplyDeleteAnd what in the world are you talking about with this "true blogger" nonsense. A true blogger, by definition, is one who blogs. Maybe your orc-brain has created some other definition the rest of us don't know about.
It's more than obvious you are as big a fool as Sarah and Huck.
i'll go out on s limb here, and say that most Harvard educated 29 year old single moms would have more than enough income , smarts and maturity to handle it.
ReplyDeleteComparing a 29 year old Harvard graduate with a 14-19 y/o high schooler is ........retarded.
Also, too: Jeebus, Natalies's grocery list is probably more interesting than Bristols soon to be released book.
Huck's really just pissed over Natalie's lesbian scene in Black Swan.
ReplyDeleteNaturally, Huckabee didn't dare make such a comment in 2008. Lesson of the day: showing up pregnant and unwed at the RCN is good. Showing up pregnant and unwed at the Academy Awards is bad.
ReplyDeleteThe New York Times' Timothy Egan has an excellent column about Huckabee and his lying:
ReplyDeletehttp://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/03/the-fictions-of-mike-huckabee/?hp
Speaking as a Christian and a liberal, I am disgusted with people like Huckabee and Palin who selectively apply the Bible to individuals. My Bible states that there are no exceptions. If one person is to be criticized for doing the same thing as another, if one is going to launch a criticism, they should both be included! A sin is a sin in the eyes of God. I know that Bristol got pregnant outside of marriage, and so did Portman, but it's not up to me to condemn either one of them. It's God's job. The usurpation of God's power is the major problem I have with many so-called Christians today. The Bible states very clearly that it is impossible for man to know the mind of God, but too many so-called Christians tend to forget this and pretend to speak for God. No one who calls him/herself a follower of Jesus and a worshiper of God should be listening to anything people like Fischer, Randall, Palin, Gingrich, Beck, and the others who profess to speak for God have to say. The Bible warns Christians about following these false prophets and of the possibility that we can lose our eternal souls by doing it, yet, millions of people hang onto every word that these people say.
ReplyDeleteThis is what Paul has to say in 2 Corinthians 11:19--Today's English Version
19--You yourselves are so wise, and so you gladly tolerate anyone who orders you around or takes advantage of you or traps you or looks down on you or slaps you in the face.
He is speaking here about false apostles and the fact that too many Christians are being misled and abused by them, but they put up with it anyway!
If Mike Huckabee had the cajones that he THINKS he has, he would have referred to Barstool, not Natalie Portman, as being preggers without a marriage certificate.
ReplyDeleteSee, Ms. Portman had already proven herself to be an intelligent, talented, beautiful young woman BEFORE she became pregnant.
Barstool? She didn't become a "celebrity" UNTIL she became pregnant. (Hey Barstool, keep your legs together!)
Sayruh won't say a word. It is the Republican way.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't talkin' about girls like Bristol--the
Good Christian Virgins who get taken advantage
of by Worldly Playgirl Models like Levi--he was
talkin' about Godless Educated Liberal Whores
like NP, who also happens to be Jewish, and
all Good Christians know Jews are going to
Hell, and they want to destroy Amerika. The
phenomena is called IOKIYAR.
@ 6:43 If Huckabee would say it about Bristol Palin, lets hear it then. Again.....crickets.
ReplyDeleteRick
Andrew Sullivan has a quote from Huckabee defending the Palins in relation to Bristol's unplanned pregnancy. Clearly it's o.k. if one of their own does it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that HucKKKleberry is busy crafting his blast against Bristol Palin even as we speak. If he's going to blast away at unwed mothers making millions off their status as trollops, he can't rightly ignore Bristol, can he?
ReplyDeleteHowever, he's been busy researching President Obama's life in Kenya, so he's been too distracted to focus on Bristol.
