You can tell your design for the cover of a book about Sarah Palin is a good one when the flying monkeys start pulling out their fur.

From the Examiner:

Joe McGinniss, the author of Broadway publishing's book about Sarah Palin - 'The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin' - is apparently stopping at nothing to demean Palin. The book's cover has been released by the publisher in advance of the book's availability to the public, and many descriptive words may immediately come to mind for the artwork - or lack of it. The most common word being used to describe the cover is 'unflattering' to Palin, as the silhouette of Palin's stance can most adequately be described as intended sleaze.

"Can most adequately be described as intended sleaze."  Like I said yesterday, Now THAT captures the true essence of Sarah Palin!

And by the way, for those who are concerned that the really horrible pictures of Sarah Palin will not be used, just let me say that I have been contacted by more than a few authors of upcoming Palin books, and they have had full access to my large collection of "flattering" photos of the Grizzled Mama.

So yes, I do believe her true "beauty" will be represented quite adequately.

  1. I don't see "sleaze" when I look at the silhouette pictured on McGinniss' book. I see a woman about to get into a serious nagging, demanding, ordering everyone about marathon. That fits, no?

I think they are just upset because the skirt is too long, the heels too low, and she's not pointing a rifle at someone.

    That skirt's not short enough!

Ummmm, no, still don't like the cover. It isn't because the picture is unflattering. Geez, there are a bunch of unflattering pictures that would have been good on there. It's the color scheme and choice of font that bother me. It just looks cheezy, like a cheap crime novel. I wish he had used the picture you post so often of her grimacing with her mouth turned down or the rabid beaver picture. Another good one would have been the one of her at the Kentucky Derby (or other Triple Crown race) in the white shirt with the magical growing black bra underneath.

Palin subject of news discussions on Fox and MSNBC this A.M. Not much good said about her anywhere.

On MorningJoe MSNBC Al Sharpton is one of the guests. He has some things to say about Sarah and the GOP. MUST WATCH.

Someone (Joe?) said that "just like you Al, Sarah was an "outsider"". Sharpton corrects them and says Palin was an Republican insider and was going to be Vice President if the GOP had their way. Gabby Giffords shooting and Palin response to it brought up. Game Change book brought up. Sharpton can speak and carry on a discussion, everyone there KNOWS Sarah could not. I don't remember anything positive being said about Sarah on Morning Joe, other than comparing her to Sharpton as an outsider.

Palin will explode within 24 hours. Al Sharpton criticizing Palin and calling her an insider will provoke her to respond.

On Fox more criticism of Palin not responding to O'Reilly interview, falling Poll numbers discussed and so on.

There is a search for a new news story to replace the earthquake disaster, and the failing Palin might be the next big thing. Especially if she responds as she usually does to criticism.

How can anyone really say her 'stance' on the cover looks sleazy? 'Hands on hips" is a mother's normal stance ab out ten times a day...

The cover looks like one of the old 007 book covers. Only thing mising is the smoking gun silhouette :)

McGuinnes got it wrong on the cover. The skirt is waaay to long for her taste and style. And, she has an bun hairdo, not her 'do you think I'm sexy' flowing extensions. er sorry. hair.

I do not see "sleaze" in that silhouette which in physical reality is a woman in a professional length suit. The "sleaze" allegation is blame shifting to the author something true about Palin that she often appears wearing a sleazy or trashy looking piece of an outfit inappropriate for the occasion.

I like the cover of the book, cause you know it's all about the so called "rogue".

Check out palingates for the story about price of gas. There is the picture again of Sista Sarah in the purple jacket (NOT NATIVE), her tongue was doing it's lizard thing and her eyes were glazed as IF she were on drugs.

Simple Sarah with a purple jacket that many older women have bought throughout the USA. The bots tried to say it was "NATIVE" cause we were talking about their queen. I figure either RAM or Bristol made up that big lie about the jacket being native cause that is a bunch of bull hockey.

Just remember "CROSSHAIRS" equals surveyor marks and purple jacket equals "NATIVE". RAM just lies out her azz all the time cause she has a serious case of "LUV" the Queen Sarah.

Kathy Griffin’s Cartoonish Mockery Of Sarah Palin As Tea Party Candidate On Glee

The ongoing feud between comedian Kathy Griffin and Sarah Palin continues with Griffin portraying a character on last night’s Fox hit show Glee that looked remarkably similar to Palin and sounded like a mix of past Tea Party candidates. Wearing a red dress and glasses, and being labeled a “Twitterer,” the intention to mock Palin was anything but nuanced. Now it will be interesting to see whether Palin has another comment on the work of Griffin, who she previously dubbed a “has-been comedienne.”

OT- I suspect Palin is so consumed with her fictional self and controlling her extreme false impressions that she indeed dresses to personify what she seeks to fool people of. On Fox she has shown up as sporty gun toting caribou Barbie in a jacket suitable for a sport not a news commentator. She loves playing the hot and sexy card missing the mark looking sleazy or trashy vulgar or lacking class.

Narcissists do these things including wearing eyeglasses to appear art or more mature. Sane people admit to wearing an accessory. Narcissists would lie. Palin loves wearing a big cross yet does not go to church. The crosses are a prop to ploy. Con artists do these things. In their mind they are "clever" and their duped victims are fools.

I don't think this is the final cover. The large chain bookstore purchasing agents are pretty much the final say in what book cover gets used, and they want a book cover that looks like what it's supposed to be. In this case, it needs to look like a biography. This does not. Making a book appear to be something it's not has proven to decrease sales as consumers get confused or it gives them feeling that book will not be legit. So I agree that this book cover design is all wrong, and I also believe it's just a placeholder (although a really bad choice even for that).

Yeah, I too would like to know what the explanation is for the Lou Dobbs no-show. Silence from her supporters? From her camp? Whazzup, Fox?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous6:54 AM

The publisher, not the author, picks the cover. They want something that is easily recognized and has impact.

The pose of Sarah, hands on hips, is defiant. It's my way or the highway. She is trying to appear tough.

Criticisms: Hair should be piled higher, skirt should be shorter, heels should be higher.

The reason that it's a shadow is because each person has their own impression of what the "real" Sarah looks like. Her fans see the Mama Grizzly who is about to be crowned Queen Esther on Purim. (It's coming up soon). Others know that behind the facade of makeup, high hair, short skirts and a wink, there isn't anything there.
She is a piece of fiction of her own creation.

I think that the cover picture is meant to convey the fact that Sarah Palin is an instantly recognized image, but you don't see any details or know much more than a shape and an outline. McGinniss is the one who is going to supply the look inside.

I think the designers along with Joe were smart to keep the skirt longer on the silhouette. No one can accuse him of sexism.

But, having a silhouette instead of a real photo, to me, is saying this is the real character of Sarah that the puppeteers hid in the shadows. And, the silhouette reaffirms what everyone who crossed her path might recognize as the demanding beatch.

If sarah truly were perpetually concerned with looking sexy, why. Has she always gone out looking like a normal woman/mother? Her hairs usually unkempt and thrown up, she regularly wore tshirts and hoodies...

Her professional look is tighter and more polished but I don't see her as someone who conforms to a norm.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous9:00 AM

Correction: joe will supply A look inside, not THE.

I highly doubt sarahs friends and those closest to her talked to him

Didn't mercede talk to him? My point exactly. Mercede has zero credibility of the Palins life. She's already proven that. These books are usually forgotten about not long after they're released.

It reminds me of the movie W. Even staunch libs couldn't watch it without cringing at the blatant bias and ridiculousness.

I think an expose on obama in this manner is much more needed for America than anaonymous people bitching about inane details that may or may not be true

"Sleaze"? No; she isn't wearing her leopard print heels and an extra rat on top of her head.

I hope Joe G./publisher keeps her in the shadow. Of course it looks like a cheap crime novel. That's what Scara is; a trashy criminal.

    To anonymous at 9:00:

Hello, RAM! You are so transparent in your comments. You make it too easy.
There are plenty of people who were once close to Palin and who had opportunity to observe her behavior and hear her comments in unguarded moments. The number of people she stepped on or threw under the bus is staggering. I'll bet you a nose job that Mercede Johnston wasn't the only person to talk.
Nice try, though, at smearing Mercede and therefore the book. You'll have to do better than that to discredit the
    contents of the book.
You WISH the book would be forgotten about not long after it's released. But you know better, don't you, RAM? That's why you're trying so hard to be so dismissive about it before it's even published. Like I said, you're so transparent...
I'm an independent and, frankly, I enjoyed the movie "W" very much. In fact, RAM, my husband, who's a conservative, thought the movie was a HOOT--- laugh out loud funny. Don't try to speak for liberals, dear, or independents or conservatives, for that matter. You represent bitter, negative, sarcastic, brainwashed bots. Those are the only people you are qualified to speak for.
Congratulations, RAM! You didn't forget the obligatory slam against President Obama. But then, how could you? It is second nature for you and your Queen to take aim at our Commander in Chief and keep him in your surveyor marks. For shame. Did you forget we are at war?!
*sigh* you're not even amusing anymore. Just tediously predictable.
