From Today:
Joe McGinniss’ upcoming biography of Sarah Palin has a cover design more fitting for a detective novel. It has a bold red, black and white color scheme and features a dark, defiant silhouette of the former Alaska governor, her hands on her hips.
The image was released Monday by Broadway Books, which this fall is releasing “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin.”
Oooh I like it!
Now THAT captures the true essence of Sarah Palin. The haughty, ball breaking bitch of a woman just daring anybody to criticize her.
is that a whip she's holding behind her back? dominatrix much?
ReplyDeleteI actually think it makes the book look cheap and like it's part of the $1 rack. I hope Joe didn't just speak with anti sarah people who don't know her personally or the book title isn't accurate and the content will be a joke
ReplyDelete[scratches head]thinking, something what rhymes with akimbo...
ReplyDeletethere must be some weak ass people in the state if they are al afraid of palin.
ReplyDeleteexactly where is all this power coming from?
i dont see how she can threaten anyone.
i am starting to wonder what kind of people live in alaska
She wears her skirts shorter than that!
ReplyDeleteShe has "man-calves" in that illustration. How funny!
ReplyDeleteI don't like it. But I suspect that Todd has seen that silhouette many times, just before the cans of tuna fish start flying.
ReplyDeleteIn Alaska, in a small town, where Sarah lives, if you go against the tide, things can happen to you that cannot be explained nor that you have any recourse against. Can you imagine having to live under this fear because some ass would burn down your house with you in it because of his allegience to them?
ReplyDeleteI've worked in publishing for a couple of decades and am hoping this is just the placeholder book cover (just used until final book cover design is worked out). It's all wrong. It looks like fiction, and not even well-done fiction at that. It needs to look serious so people will take the content seriously. Epic fail on the book cover, very disappointed.
ReplyDeleteIts time for Ailes to stand up to her and tell her what a cheap little shit she is.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 5:54 AM.
ReplyDeleteThat cover won't do much to pull people in. It looks really crappy and thrown together. After all the work he's put into this book and with all the anticipation for it one would hope his publisher could come up with something better than this. It looks like a self published book cover.
Sorry. FAIL.
Sorry, I don't like it. He should use the pouty face picture so frequently highlighted on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThat is the real Spalin.
This one looks like a poster for an Angelina Jolie spy thriller movie. Yuck and uggh.
Her skirt is not short enough, She never wears any that long. I hope the book has a lot of content. She must be afraid of what is in it because she demonized the author enough.
ReplyDelete"i am starting to wonder what kind of people live in alaska"
ReplyDeletepeople like the Heaths and the Palins....ROFL
sorry, Alaskans....can't help it. Too bad your state voted the moron in.
Off-topic: Did anyone, anywhere pull over and park a couple days ago? Never saw any reports and just wondering if even one loser pulled over for Sarah
ReplyDeleteMaybe because of SP's request for copyright to her name, Joe McGinniss does not want to use her facial image, for fear she'll sue, or try to claim some money from him for her kids' braces.
ReplyDeleteTo me the book cover isn't important, it's the content inside that is. Even if it was a brown paper bag cover I'd still buy the book.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be in a minority, but I like It looks like a detective novel, and that could pull in more readers than just politics junkies and people who have already made up their minds about Palin one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteI'm more concerned about what's inside the book. My hope, of course, is that it contains material that will help usher this mentally ill woman out of American politics before she does any more harm.
It looks like the cover of a Modesty Blaize comic.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope Joe does better than this.
Cheap looking or not, I just pre-ordered two copies!
ReplyDeleteI mean SHE looks cheap, and look how they gobbled her up for a while?
I'm just sayin...
"Its time for Ailes to stand up to her and tell her what a cheap little shit she is."
ReplyDeleteExcept she's an expensive little shit, what with having to support her fantasy lifestyle and Todd's toys and Bristol's Dream House and pay off all those witnesses and all.

5:54 am - That you Rebecca Mansour?
ReplyDeleteYou really are NEGATIVE, you always are against anything that truly would shed the truth about Sista Sarah, the devil's sister.
I hoped there wouldn't be a photo of Palin's mug on the cover and this does the trick for me. I love a good mystery and the suggestion that McGinniss solves it.
ReplyDeleteIt's too dime store novel like. There's so many great pictures of her that truly represent her toxic essence.
ReplyDelete(I've seen them right here in fact!)
Since she's lost the McCain campaign and RNC financed make-up and wardrobe team, she hasn't been looking good lately.
Her make-up looks like it's been applied with a spackle (sp) knife and her hair looks like she has it done by Mr. Frosty himself. I haven't seen buns that tight since the sixties.
I do hope that he makes millions on it. Hell, maybe SarahPac will get curious and buy a few copies of a book that is actually written by the person who is credited for it on the cover.
I actually think the book cover is all about the "ROGUE". I am having a hard time trying to say what is in my mind. Gryphen, help me out here if you can.
ReplyDeleteTo 6:37:
ReplyDeleteI didn't see anything about the great "pull over for Palin and cause potential fatalities" publicized anywhere.
Which means one of two things: The Palinbots thought they could show their support more efficiently for their Queen from the comfort of their couches, or they did pull over in solidarity for Palin and got mistaken for disabled vehicles.
Either way works for me.
Hope Joe has lots of pics and documented evidence......easier for the menfolk to read and digest.
ReplyDeleteI was reading this morning at Shailey's blog about her desire to write a book and I do believe she is serious.
I agree with the others who write that the skirt isn't short enough. Sarah's skirt was always cut above the knee so that when she sat on the stage, her skirt hiked up even higher. (What do you think that the people in India want to see, some lady draped in cloth from head to foot or Sexy Sarah's Short Short Skirt?)
ReplyDeleteThe reason that it's a good cover is that it's just her shadow, and you kind of recognize her. But, you don't know who she really is, the point of the book. The pose shows a defiant defensive woman, arms on hips, legs apart and ready for action. However, that's the tease.
Is it just a pose or is could there really be something inside? It's a mystery, and McGinniss is a good mystery writer. While his books are based on fact, he is a good story teller who can lead the reader along the path to discovery. He is also very skilled at revealing the truth in such a way that the reader makes the discovery, based on facts.
Based on Joe sending out the manuscript of Bailey/AKM book - I am rather pleased the Geoffrey Dunn book is coming out earlier than Joe's book.
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered both Dunn & McGinniss books - and will pre-order (if possible autographed) Bailey/AKM book as announced. I love reading fiction on my Kindle, however when it comes to my Political books --- I want the whole book to highlight the importants revelations, / margins for notes/ and hard-back covers.
Joe's bookcover reminds me of a spy novel. (Remember "Secret Agent" TV Show - all silhouette?) Hmmmm -- maybe he was spying while next door....
I am in publishing too, and there are many cover changes before the final one!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt isn't nearly short enough to represent SP accurately.
ReplyDeleteneeds more cankle, bigger rats nest
ReplyDeleteagree with others that the skirt is about a foot too long for SP. She has never worn anything near the knee. Her skirts show her hoohaa when she is on stage.
ReplyDelete@ 6:04am - that's what I said too! The skirt pictured is too long!
ReplyDeleteI think the cover is great. I DO NOT want to have to look at her face when I buy the book.....I wish I didn't have to look at her name. I it is concise, no nonsense and straight on.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the pouty frowny upside down U face Sarah Palin picture is the perfect book cover.
ReplyDeleteI like the cover. Simple, bold colors - it looks like a mystery or spy thriller.
ReplyDeleteI like the prominence of the words "The Rogue". It is a good clue that the person revealed will not be an upstanding member of her community.
I hope he grabs not just those interested in politics, but mystery readers as well.
But even if he had it shipped out in a brown paper bag, I would buy this book.
I think she looks a bit chunky.
ReplyDeleteAfter what Joe did to AKM and Frank Bailey I don't wish to give him money for his book. Perhaps I'll read it if I can download it free from the internet.
ReplyDeleteFor those who suggest an unattractive photo of Sarah for the cover, I ask, 'Why?'. I run quickly away from any book rack in a store if her photo is in view.
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:50 - Great job explaining the cover!
I agree, the skirt is too long (modest), but overall, I like the cover style. Sarah is a cheap trashy dime novel, no substance, no depth, nothing of lasting value. Like a cheap airport newsstand paperback, one quick read and you can toss it away. That's Sarah, and that's the cover style. Added bonus, not having to look at her hateful face.
ReplyDeleteMcGinniss' book itself, I am sure, will be far more substantial than Sarah herself ever was or ever will be.
Keep that cover, Joe. If her "troops' don't like it (see link), then you must be doing something right!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-national/new-book-about-sarah-palin-to-have-sleazy-cover?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
I can hardly wait to get his book as well as the one Bailey wrote and that of Geoffrey Dunn.
ReplyDeletePalin will be a riot to watch in the midst of all of them being published. More of the truth will be coming out about her and I'm sure it won't be pretty - based on what we in Alaska already know of her! She is one evil woman!
5:54 - You must be from Palin's camp. Hope you read this book as you might learn something. He is an excellent author and investigator.
ReplyDelete6:46 Palin cannot sue McGinniss...she will have no grounds to sue any of the authors coming out with books within the next few months. Check the law!!!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is missing her prop, Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the cover. Looks like a murder mystery! Only problem is...the ankles are way too thin, and the skirt is too long. The best part? Joe McGinniss's name is BIGGER than Snow Snookie's! Gotta love it!
ReplyDeleteHer skirt is too long. She wears them MUCH shorter. One foot ought to have been turned so as to reveal the stilettos. She is spiky and it might as well be revealed even before the book is opened.
ReplyDeleteThe sleeves are probably too long as well. She prefers 3/4 length sleeves, with bracelets.
As to the silhouette? It is a typical gimmick for crime fiction. I'm not sure if it is right for what ought to be truth. However, on a political shelf where all the other book-covers are portraits, this will stand out.
I don't care what's on the cover of the book, and I'm definitely not going to buy it. With all her nonstop overexposure, I've learned all I need to know about her, and more than I want to.
