Alaska Dispatch puts the pieces together.

William "Dropzone Bill" Fulton in the center
From Alaska Dispatch:

First Bill Foxfire Fulton disappeared from Anchorage, and now his store -- DropZone surplus -- is following him into obscurity.

Fulton is believed to have slipped into the federal witness protection program almost a month ago.

Multiple sources, including at least one who claims to have been interviewed for hours by the FBI as a possible accomplice to various crimes, told the Alaska Dispatch they have no doubt Fulton is hiding behind a cloak of government security.

Before disappearing, Fulton not only gave away DropZone, but signed a power of attorney giving Anchorage lawyer Wayne Anthony Ross the authority over two homes Fulton owns, or did own, in Anchorage.

Here is what I love about this.  We KNOW that some of the Alaska Dispatch reporters read this blog, which means they know that I have already confirmed that there is NO question Fulton is the FBI informant.

However they absolutely refuse to link to me, or send an e-mail for verification.

And do you know what is kind of funny about that?  According to my source, THAT attitude is part of the reason they were never provided confirmation themselves.

BTW, my understanding is that Fulton will soon issue a press release.

Somebody might want to tip ADN and Alaska Dispatch to that as well. Oh never mind, they will undoubtedly read it here along with everybody else.

If it makes you feel any better, I've never gone to the Alaska Dispatch unless it's been thru a link on your page-absolute truth :-)

That's okay, right? I mean, like teachers teach not for money just because they love to teach. Well, I've been a teacher and that's always true - we all need sustenance and a few hugs of "well dones" help, too.

So, "Well Done, Gryphen." We might not be able to financially sustain you, but we sure as heck appreciate you and know when you've scooped the other folks.

We trust your ethics and your fact-checking. The ADN folks may either not be as familiar with your work as most of us are or just want to hog the glory.

That's okay. You're coming into your own now. Slow but sure wins the day.

Oh, and by "slow" I meant slow to acclaim - not performance or mental ability. Your day in the sun will come. You do good work and while that might be its own reward - a little bit of glory and moolah will come, too.

The Alaska Dispatch is owned by Alice Rogoff, her former husband is David Rubenstien of Carlysle Group fame, one of the biggest, if not THE biggest arms dealers in the world.

Rubenstein had a hand in creating the formula under which Alaska Tribal 8a's operate.

Rogoff also owns the Alaska Native Arts Foundation, a private entity that competes with private gift stores downtown. Rogoff has repeatedly lobbied the State Legislature for money for her little ventures, even though she could probably buy this entire state with her pocket change and still have some left over.

    Beware !

BTW, the owner of the building where Drip Zone is located ?

Helen Howarth, of the Rasmusson Foundation Fame.

This might not be your loss by the time this is done.

There are several details not yet discussed that do not make sense.

Was the Hopfinger arrest a setup?

I don't know who they think they have, but Fulton is not doing any radio.

    Gryphen..
Covering the Drop Zone and its associated pathological deviants is no doubt important. You have guts to write about them.

But I worry about your safety.

Seriously, get a home alarm system.
Other things you can do to protect your cyber and real life:

    1. Encrypt all your computers using TrueCrypt, using the WHOLE disk encryption option with AES 256 bit.
Its a free open source product,
and it's not that hard to install.
Be very sure to use a complex password that only you know, and won't forget. If someone steals your PC's they can't get anything from them, if the whole disk encryption is done right.

    2. Get some pepper spray for home defense and keep it locked up if you have kids. Some of us like firearms better, but if you've not grown up with them, you're best off taking a course. Again, a gun safe at home is imperative if you have kids. Trigger guards are almost as good.

    3. Use anonymous email accounts when possible. Don't use Internet explorer for anything outside of something like a bank website where firefox or chrome isn't working.

    4. If you have kids, establish a well known "safety password" to use if someone other than you ever has to pick them up from school, etc. Train your kids to never go with anyone not knowing that word.

I really worry about you and your family. Take care

Anonymous said..."Alaska Dispatch, Alice Rogoff, David Rubenstien, Carlysle Group fame, one of the biggest, if not THE biggest arms dealers in the world"...etc etc...

    Great comment! Love it!
For a complete thorough profile, see the Anchorage Press:
    http://tiny.cc/axe75

Rubenstein is head of The Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest private equity firms.
"Rubenstein had a hand in creating the formula under which Alaska Tribal 8a's operate."
Well, sort of. Not really. But yeah, kind of. I mean, how do separate the Old Boys Network? Greta Van Susteren's husband probably had a hand in it, too. Certainly, Rubenstein absolutely positively has a relationship with Fred Malek.
[Ooops, now Gryphen's not going to post this comment. But that's okay, because this time I copied it.]

"Rogoff also owns the Alaska Native Arts Foundation, a private entity that competes with private gift stores downtown."
No, she doesn't. It's a 501c3 non-profit with a great mission to seed economic diversity and opportunity to bush villages. They compete with the ANMC gift shop, for artists and wholesale items. ANMC buys at the lowest possible price for a better profit margin and is committed to paying villagers pennies for good-quality artwork, ivory, baleen, basketry, fur goods. The Arts Foundation is determined to pay fair market value for the stuff and is a stiff competitor.
Private gift shops downtown? Like who? Shops that carry cheesy t-shirts and blackmarket Asian goods that they pass off as "Native Alaskan carvers"?

"Rogoff has repeatedly lobbied the State Legislature for money for her little ventures, even though she could probably buy this entire state with her pocket change and still have some left over."
Yes. She has. And she gets it. Parnell gave her $600,000 in the December Governor's Budget. But before you get excited, understand that this is the direct result of a legitimate decent contract with the Alaska Manufacturing Partnership underwritten by a federal grant. The state has gained from the relationship.

"Helen Howarth, of the Rasmusson Foundation Fame."
Actually, the building is owned by her father's business venture, Paeco, Inc. Phillip Howarth was an Anchorage businessman since 1949. There's no nefarious connection there. They're just rich. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes, Helen worked for Rasmuson. But why not suggest a relationship with "famed" Diane Kaplan? She's the bigshot. She is on a first-name basis with every single major foundation in the U.S. and beyond - Ford, Rockefeller, Kellogg, Annie Casey, Murdock, Paul Allen, Microsoft. She literally calls the Gates, "Bill and Susan." She flies around in a private jet like Sarah Palin.
So why aren't you putting her out there instead of Helen? There IS something a tiny bit 'interesting' there.
She is basically a secretary that worked her way up to being the foundation's head. And boy, does she have an attitude, whoo.
Keep in mind that the Rasmuson Foundation is the National Bank of Alaska family foundation.

Yes, state money. Also state contract. ASMI partnered with Alaska House to promote Alaska seafood and Alaska Native art.
Rogoff did own Alaska House as her own venture, intended to turn it over to the Alaska Native Arts Foundation, but budget difficulties for both prevented it and Alaska House has been closed.

Tag Lesil McGuire with more misconduct, shaky ethics and partying on the job courtesy of state money, than either Todd or Sarah.
The State of Alaska spends hundreds of thousands per year on Lesil's parties. That's her entire existence. Parties with the high rollers.
We keep hoping that her district will catch on that she does nothing for them and get rid of her. But no. They keep sending her back to Juneau to party some more. And that's all well and fine, but she takes up space that another real legislator doing real work could be filling.
Is anyone down there in Juneau aware that the state paid for a $900/night hotel room for her and her boyfriend, $1000+ tickets for the medal round hockey games, parties with every country, and more.

    Gryphen,
He will not appear until he is testifying against Dropzone. and even then he will be in protective custody.
I will be very surprised that no one "gives up" someone deeper in AK politics.
As stated above "WELL DONE"" and screw the paper they are dying with the rest of the printed press.

  23. Look, Gryph, you've gotten info from other bloggers and credited them, and gotten info from other bloggers and failed to do that. Just recently, you completely changed the thrust of a post based on info I gave you, without dealing with that transparently. You certainly didn't credit me here for helping you, did you?

I despise Alice Rogoff's husband. If there were justice, he would be tried by an international criminal court.

There certainly is a chance the Dispatch didn't read your post. I would have missed it had I not been told about it by a friend, who like me, has known for a long time that Fulton has been cooperating since last year.

Why didn't I put up a post about that? Not sure, but I didn't even pass the word on to Tony and Amanda, when I had Steve Heimel present Tony with the cuffs that I'd bought (50/50% with Ray Metcalfe) from Bill that Bill had used on Tony at Begich MS in October.

Just relax. Bloggers are rarely credited by the media here if we write about something before they do. Don't take it personally.

What you do best - cover the Alaska LBGT front from the perspective of a loving father - is something nobody else in the country comes close to.

ANF might be a 501c3 on paper, but it's Rogoff's pet project, just ask any of the former board members who have quit over her meddling.

Kaplan was also tight with the likes of Bill Allen and Joe Boehm. Boehm used to be her landlord when APRN was located on the Old Seward Highway above AIH.

To Philip Munger. Many of us think that Gryphen does many things well. I love his stories about his daughter (they make me cry), but that isn't the reason why I visit his blog. Why don't we leave what Gryphen covers up to him because he hasn't missed with me yet.

While chastising Gryphen for not being transparent about your assistance on an issue, I would give him considerable credit for improving your readership. Without his blog, I wouldn't have been directed to your blog.

Your response seems like something that should have been sent to Gryphen personally, not in the comments section.

I completely agree! Mr. Munger seems to be in one of his "moods" because he's over at Joe McGinniss' blog complaining about Joe posting the words "progressive Alaska bloggers". He thought Joe was referring to his blog!

    ReplyDelete
  29. "He thought Joe was referring to his blog!"

I asked for a clarification. You're misrepresenting what I wrote at McGinniss' blog. I'm, sure he would agree.

As far as it being inappropriate for me to observe that my good friend Gryph was lees than transparent in the way he stated his case on the Dispatch article, that's a crock of shit.
