Here is the voice of my childhood.
You know when newer voice actors took over his characters after his death it was just never the same.
BTW I have the same fond memories about Mr. Carson. I thought he had the coolest job on television.
Wow, way cool! Voice of my childhood, too! Thanks for the early morning boost to balance all the WGE/Political crap the media wants to call 'news'. Hang in there!
100% agreed! The classic voices were never the same after Mr. Blanc, who was a true genius. I always preferred Warner Brothers/Looney Tunes cartoons over anything by Disney!
BTW, check the following link for the music of your childhood as well. You'll be surprised! Raymond Scott was another genius and pioneer of modern synthesized music:
My favorite cartoon still is in memory of Mel. It has all the characters he voiced standing around a microphone under a spot light. All the characters have their heads bowed. It's one of my favs! I will try to find a pic of it for you, Gryph.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the stroll down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteJohnny Carson, to me, was the funniest.

Have fun and Happy Easter, Doc!
cool to see the man behind the many voices!
ReplyDeleteOy, I wonder what Johnny "Middle of middle America (Lincoln Nebraska) Carson would have had to say about $carah?
ReplyDeleteANd those other wonderful, though much more sophisticated voices of Steve Allen and Dick Cavett.

I can't get a good link for the picture, but if you google "Mel Blanc Speechless" it comes up.

That was fun. Thanks for putting it on this morning.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter everyone! Don't eat too many marshmallow peeps (yum)!
Looney Tunes are the BEST. Mel Blanc a treasure. Carrie - I love that pic, too!
ReplyDeleteMel Blanc & my husband both graduated Lincoln HS in
ReplyDeletePortland, OR - 50 or so years apart. He's a hometown hero!
Once, I got to go to Mel Blanc's former house in Pacific Palisades, when it was on the market. He had a pool shaped like Bugs Bunny. No kidding!
