Mike Huckabee believes that all Americans should "be forced at gunpoint no less" to listen to the lies and distortions of David Barton.

So let me get this straight.  Christian minister, Mike Huckabee, wants to force his fellow Americans, under threat of death, to listen to the misinformation, and outright lies, of David Barton? Do I have that about right?

And THIS is the man who once ran to be the President of the United States of America?

You know even if Barton were not somebody who was well known to spread lies and distortions about history to further his belief that there should be no separation between the (Christian) church and state, it is still indefensible that Huckabee would suggest that the American people should be threatened with death, or bodily harm, to force them to listen to what he has to say.

Exactly what kind of America does Huckabee envision?

Clearly what he is openly advocating is to turn America into a theocracy, where every citizen would be forced to attend the same churches, to think the same way, and to have all of the rights and freedoms our forefathers desired for us, and that our military has fought repeatedly to protect, stripped away from his fellow Americans.

Is this is the TRUE agenda that drives the Republican party of 2012?

And if the Teabaggers were as concerned about protecting the Constitution as they claim to be, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, and the other GOP  Evangelical theocrats would be the first politicians they would go after, instead of focusing all of their attention on the Democrats.

Don'tcha think?

Is this a party that wants the government out of your pocket?

What a bunch of hypocrites and liars they are, wolves in sheep clothing.
They are setting up this country to be a theocracy and only of evangelical christians. If other christian faiths think they are OK they are sadly mistaken.
They people are out for world domination. Unless the US wakes up, we will become a theocracy.
Our prisons will be filled with people that have not broken the law, but who are not religious and not religious enough.

This is truly appalling! How can any politician in America get away with saying this kind of thing in 2011? "Forced at gunpoint"? Another 2nd amendment remedy? Where are the adults in the GOP, in the media, in the Democratic party? Why is this not being denounced from the rooftops?
Welcome to your place in the Third World, America!

My parents immigrated from Europe after WWII and warned us never to let our passports expire. I never let it expire but always re-applied for it with something of condescending little nod to my parents. I'm not smiling any more, Mom and Dad. Thank God, I listened to you.

  12. Well darn, now even if he gets the nod for Republican candidate for 2012, I can't vote for him since he has revealed himself to be psychotic. Just kidding about the voting for him part, that would never happen in any regard.

Oh, and Anon@6:47 STOP the GOP "War on Irony." That would be hysterically funny if it wasn't so true. Nicely put.

Fundamentalist religion is simply not compatible with democracy.
Fundies do not think clearly and cannot be reasoned with by ordinary means.
The more sane Christians among us who have failed to rein in their anti-democratic fundamentalist counterparts have done an immense disservice to our country.

Religion is religion and government is government and they should NEVER be mixed! I want my freedom back! I don't want the republican form of government and freedom that's forced on us! I don't want republicans mixing their twisted religious beliefs in with the laws of the land. UGH! What an ugly, poor excuse of human excrement he is!

I keep thinking, "This has to be an April Fool's joke...."

    It's frightening....

I have tried a few times to talk to a couple of people on the Right. The reason they vote Republicon is because they are all 100% against abortion. Nothing else matters...it is the key issue for this group and it is enabling these lunatics be able to continue to be pushing these agendas. As far as I understand, the Latino population is mostly Catholic and probably being told in their churches to vote Republicon for this reason, which is going to really make it difficult in 2012, no matter how awful many of their job options are in this country.

David Barton has been shown to be a serial liar. Chris Rodda nailed him on it, he admitted it, and then repeated the same lies again. He's completely dishonest, through and through. There are videos available at http://www.liarsforjesus.com/ that show some of the dishonesty perpetrated by Barton and his ilk.

How about we who are religion free going door to door to preach about being superstition free and that PATRIARCHIC RELIGIONS AND GOVERNMENTS ARE THE ROOT OF ALL OF SOCIETY'S PROBLEMS AND SHOULD BE ELIMINATED, STARTING WITH A LAW FOR CASTRATING ALL MALES PRACTICING ANY FORM OF PATRIARCHY?

I have a good friend who is LDS and believes the exact same thing. The only way to "save" America is to turn completely to God.

I've tried to point out to no avail that Mormons will not be numbered among the TRUE BELIEVERS by folks like the Huckster. Nor will Catholics, Quakers, Methodists, Episcopals, or any other faith no deemed correct by our Dominionist Overlords.

But he still doesn't get it...

It would be easy to blame this kind of rhetoric on Palin with her disgusting "don't retreat - reload" crap - but it sounds like he thought this one up all by himself.
One day out of curiosity I went on line to find some info on Huckabee - very interesting. One thing that was amazing concerned his son killing an animal and Mike managing to hush it up and cover up the scandal. Easy to find this info if you are interested.

    You ask the question

Is this is the TRUE agenda that drives the Republican party of 2012?

The answer is found by looking at the long history of Barton's actual employment by the Republican National Committee.

John: … So, David, my next question would be, you worked for the RNC in ’04, is that correct?

David Barton: That’s correct – in 2004 as well as in earlier cycles; and they have approached me to help in this cycle as well. So I guess that makes four cycles that I have worked with them.

John: Could you describe your activities.

David Barton: The activities I do for the RNC are not a lot different from what I do in any other setting. The audience is slightly different, but the message I deliver remains largely the same. What I did for the RNC was particularly talk to the constituency that included people of faith and social conservatives (there’s a lot of overlap between the two). I would essentially show the historical and Biblical reasons for people of faith to be involved politically.

    The above comes from
    http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/rnc-again-paying-barton's-propaganda

There is some basic background on David Barton at that link.

The full interview quoted in the above link is at (right wing site)
    http://www.article6blog.com/2006/09/18/article-vi-interview-david-barton-of-wallbuilders/

David Barton: On a number of occasions. In fact, I worked 41 months with U.S. Congressman Ernest Istook, who is a Mormon, and is now running for governor in Oklahoma.
In September of ’94, when Republicans were still in the minority, Newt Gingrich stood outside Heritage Foundation and gave a speech promising that if Republicans became the majority in the House, the House would have a vote on a Constitutional amendment to protect school prayer and public religious expressions. When Republicans did indeed gain control of the House through the Republican Revolution of 1994, Gingrich followed through with his promise. He assigned Ernie to oversee the task – to draft a constitutional amendment that would roll back about 40 years of religion-hostile decisions by the Supreme Court. I spent 41 months working with Ernie on that project,

Maybe this has something to do with Barton being Glenn Beck's resdient constitutional religion history "expert".

"Is this the same party that wants a less intrusive government?"

Yes, but ONLY as it applies to federal regulations pertaining to labor, environment, etc which might place ANY limits of ANY kind on corporations.

All regulations that could encourage persecution of immigrants (legal or not), support of the less fortunate or the non-existent threat of Sharia law should be made MUCH more restrictive.

"Is this a party that wants the government out of your pocket?"

Only if that pocket belongs to the very wealthy or a corporation. The rest of us should have our pockets picked clean to support more tax breaks for the top 2%.

Oh yeah, and as soon as the government has taken everything out of your pocket, they're taking up residence in your uterus!

On the Laura Ingraham show, a fairly conservative radio show, during the last presidential run, she stated that Huckabee's son roasted a live dog while serving as a camp counselor. He was charged with inhumane treatment to an animal but the case never went to court because his daddy was governor. Even Laura Ingraham was sickened by this.
