Lorenzo Benet, author of the book Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin, tells E! about Palin's reputation as a high school basketball player, "she got the nickname Sarah Barracuda. some people didn't even like playing with her, she would scratch them and get up real close to them and she was very physical."
Palin's former boss, John Hernandez, sports director at KTUU TV in Anchorage, recalls "It was hard convincing the management that it was okay for a young lady to get paid to do sports in Anchorage, Alaska, but she was the best we had and they decided to give her a chance."
Dr. Lorii Ann Perin, one of Palin's friends from the University of Idaho says, "She was a natural beauty.I was surprised that Sarah had been in beauty pageants, because she was so incredibly shy. I really couldn't see her standing in front of a group of people or in front of a group of judges. And I couldn't see her wanting to be center stage."
"She was so new on the scene and so different," says Anne Kilkenny, a Wasilla resident, about Palin's nomination for VP. "I mean she can skin a moose. The whole back-story thing makes her so different.just feeds curiosity."
"People can't tell the difference [between] what she said and what Tina Fey said and they just sort of accredit everything to Sarah Palin," says Jay Newton-Small, Political Correspondent, Time Magazine.
"She came home to absolutely no friends. The Democrats who she had worked with no longer had much to say to her. So, it wasn't a big glory coming home," says Shannyn Moore, a political radio host.
When Palin decided to resign as Governor, Lyda Green, former president of the Alaskan State Senate, recalls, "it was my understanding that her own family didn't know what she was doing. Her husband was out fishing and [she] said, 'you gotta come and be here' and you don't call someone in the middle of fishing season unless it's very important."
Very few people are neutral about Sarah Palin, which makes her journey all the more fascinating.

I am not too sure how "true" this progam will turn out to be, but hey compared to her "reality" show this thing might play like an episode of "Mythbusters."
I expect that all of you very intelligent people have much more important things to do on Thursday then to waste your precious time watching this program. However as you probably know I most likely WILL watch it because it is very difficult to ridicule something unless you have seen how stupid it is first.
Of course I will view it with a completely open mind. (No really! Well probably! You know maybe I should just start writing jokes about it now.)

ReplyDeleteShe talked tough, but had nothing to back it up. No brains, no perseverance, no people skills, and lots of personal baggage she can't handle. Probably started with all those dead animals her father seems to like. Not many people have photos of themselves as toddlers next to a slaughtered bloody bear cub.
Can she really skin a moose? From the snippets of her faux reality show I saw, I tend to doubt it. I'm not going to watch this program either. I'll just read about it on IM.
Looks to me like she is trying to do as much 'positive' stuff as she can before the two books come out that will knock the hell out of her and her 'supposed' wonderful life.

From her second mayoral term on, a change developed as it normally would. She grew into who she is now. And once mccain happened and the gop grabbed her, her character was completely opposite the old sarah. Even as mayor she was still lovely.

He said she did a great job of reaching across the aisle and working with Democrats, then she got onto the campaign trail, became incredibly polarizing, and forgot about Alaska except as it boosted her image (hockey mom, moose skinner, etc). He has no use for her now.
And maybe that's why she had no friends after the campaign. Her own damned fault.
(Sorry, I'm upset. Just heard from an old classmate, who is very intelligent but who LOVES Palin. He also thanks God for Rush Limbaugh, which I find possibly more disturbing.)

ReplyDeleteShe is not, and never was, a sincere and honorably intentioned person.
If one is completely neutral about it, she really did have an opportunity (and perhaps potential) that few ever have to make a difference through public service - even with her soap opera personal life.
She just doesn't have the inner beauty and ethic that authentic public service would require of her.
It just isn't there. She is empty, and I have to imagine she always was.
I am sorry for whatever happened to her to make her this way, but it is what it is, and it isn't our job to make things better for her by allowing her to fulfill her ambition for unfettered power.
We must prevent her from ever having THAT particular opportunity, and we shall do it by searching for the truth and exposing it wherever we find it.
She has been slowed down considerably by the hard work of dedicated citizen journalists and bloggers, regardless of the blatant attempts by her supporters to frame her every move as a sign of her ascendancy.
We just have to keep at it.

ReplyDeleteI have always wondered WHY she quit. I assumed that she wanted big money and had no real interest in governing. But that never seemed to explain it sufficiently-- especially because the announcement was so precipitous.
There were some recent comments on this blog, alluding to the Shawn Christy issue. These comments, from Christy's father's facebook suggested that Palin quit because of an FBI investigation which linked her to threats made against Pres. Obama.
I think it would be important to know the real reason(s) that Mrs. Palin quit her job so suddenly.
So I will add to my list of information that should be public:
Mrs. Palin's birth certificate
Mrs. Palin's marriage licence
Mrs. Palin's college diploma and transcript
Trig Palin's birth certificate
The factual account of why Mrs. Palin quit her job as Alaska's governor.
Any REAL journalists in the room??
The summary of a once shy girl who competed on a pageant(?plural), went to college (5), skinning a moose, reality tv star are not qualifications for POTUS. Nor is quitting the governorship to be a reality tv star. The pipeline did not get built. Neither is Hockey mom, pit bull, Annie Oakley or gun sites on people distinguish a person to lead the country.

The way I see it...Sarah steals words, ideas from other people and passes them as her own in tweets etc. This E story will be her "bio" to try to rehab her as she plans to run.
