Bristol Palin: "Being a teen mom is difficult." For whom?
"Tripp was born into a home that is a one parent home and it's difficult for him and..um..you know I don't have a college education yet, I don't have a steady job, and it's difficult for all teen moms no matter what their background is."
I'm sorry is ANYBODY buying this bullshit?
She is a single mother because she CHOSE to be a single mother. Levi was all set to get married, and she kicked him to the curb, and then refused to let him see his son.
Kind of hard to play the victim, when in fact you are the bully.
As for not having a steady job, how many young women were paid over $260,000 in 2009, were paid $345,000 by DWTS in 2010, has a book coming out this summer, and have a mother who is worth millions to fall back on if she blows all of her money on plastic surgery?
I know she is the daughter of a woman who raised her to be the perpetual victim, but this is getting ridiculous.

I STILL think he should demand a DNA test, because Bristol was not exactly pure as the driven snow when Levi finally got to the top of her list. Considering her parents "elopement" and the circumstances (Curtis Menard)I would not trust her for a second since she is so much like the person laughingly known as Mom.

Now that she spent all that money to change her face that God gave her, she deserves her "Me Time" and instead she has to find someone to take Tripp off her hands. I can see having Tripp around puts a burden on her. It would be difficult to wake up in the morning and having to ask, in front of your child, the name of the guys you slept with last night.
ReplyDeleteHmm, let's fly in the way-back machine. I was 19 when I had my son 33 years ago. Divorced shortly after, worked full time to support him for $3.85 an hr., only job I could find. Daddy wasn't paying support, no money to go back to school....friends bailed, too busy out having fun. Scrimped and saved and bought my own home, "modest home" would be an understatement. He was raised on very little money, often having to forgo many of the things kids are used to enjoying. But he was taught to respect others, be a good person, work hard & was well loved. Ms. Palin has no clue what "difficult" is! I'm certain the only one in this Mother-Son union that's having a difficult time is Tripp. Sad.

All those "hard" things she mentioned are by choice, not because she WAS (she's no longer a teen)a teen mom. She could have worked it out with Levy. She could have made it easier for him to see his son. She supposedly had a full-time job, but chose to quit it to do DWTS. She could have enrolled in college, but chose to get plastic surgery instead. She also chose to buy a house in cash, something most teen mom's will never be able to do.
She's too lazy to work on her relationship with her son's father, too lazy to do actual work, too lazy to go to college, too lazy to exercise and eat right instead of plastic surgery.
Being lazy is soooo hard. Waaaaa!

ReplyDeleteShe isn't have the normal difficulties of a single mother, because let's face it, those are primarily financial! Most young women at least have a family and friend support network. It's the earning a living/childcare/college education part that causes most of the problems. Bristol can go to college any time she chooses, and she will be able to manage perfectly well, given her resources.
I cannot believe someone convinced her to do that chin implant. What were they going for? She looks like some sort of Barbie doll, I guess.
I truly think these plastic surgeons should be brought up on ethical charges when they convince a pretty young woman to disfigure herself in this way. I am sorry to say that, she is still pretty obviously, but it's now a plastic, unnatural type of beauty.

Bristol should be 20. She turned 18 during the Veep campaign in 2008.

Can't you feel that? It looks like the skin on your cheeks are working really hard to keep that piece of plastic in place. The strain on the sides of your face looks really uncomfortable and your jaw line underneath your ears going forward does not line up with anything. ReplyDeleteIf every woman who gave birth sat down to write a book about motherhood, they would describe the awkwardness of pregnancy, the pain of labor, the cries of a fussy baby and the worries when a child is sick. For single women, the story is even more difficult, because they don't have someone to help shoulder the burden.
ReplyDeleteBeing realistic about what's involved in being a parent isn't a pretty picture. So, when Bristol's story is hardly unique. Mothers all over the world have paced the floor with a crying baby, making sure that the child was fed, diaper changed and nothing seems to soothe the poor kid.
Bristol is uneducated, and frankly not all that charming and charismatic. The only reason that she gets any of this tabloid attention is because the is the daughter of a woman who ran unsuccessfully for vice president and quit her job as governor.
There are many other single moms who love just a part of the income stream that seems to flow Bristol's way for no other reason than she is the product of her mother's promotion. She is famous for absolutely nothing. Hers is undeserved good fortune. Whatever she stories she is telling about Tripp to see her book can't be something that kid will want to read in a few more years. It isn't worth it, no matter how much they are paying.
I thought that the Palins argued for custody of Tripp because Levi would just shamefully exploit Tripp and make money off of him. Bristol wants to be the one to exploit Tripp and make money off of him. In order to see her ghost written book and make overpaid appearances for Candies, Bristol needs a new face, but it doesn't change what's inside.

The example and leadership of her mother. Pregnancy and good looks, (damn the education! full speed ahead!) have been the basis of Palin's twisted power and money making ability, personally and politically, for decades. Palin herself had the smarts to really and truly educate herself. Palin had all of the family support and spiritual resources given her (regardless of your opinion of the quality, the opportunity was given her) to make a truly productive, compassionate, well educated, thoughtful human being of herself. But she wasted it all. Now, her daughter is following in her shadow of death, knowing nothing else, like a moth to the flame. Sorry, but that is how I see it.

ReplyDeleteTeen pregnancy has NOT been hard for Bristol. Yes, it was hard to tell her parents and it was hard to be trotted out by her mother on the national stage. But after that her life is a 1000% improvement.
Her words make it sound like she can't afford college and can't find a steady job. That is the most insulting thing if all. Women of every generation who have been or currently are teen mothers have to struggle EVERY DAY to take care of their children. Bristol has the nerve to say she is like them.
Be honest, Bristol. You are damned lucky, you are ridiculously well-paid, you've never had to worry one ounce about how you were going to feed or clothe your child or pay the rent or electric bill. Tell the truth, like you did to Greta that time when you said abstinence was unrealistic (before your mom rushed in to remind you not to blow your meal ticket) and we actually respected you for an instant.
I can't think of one reason that anyone would be interested in buying Bristol's book. It will be on the clearance rack as soon as it hits the bookstores.

Heck you even posed twice for magazine covers...the nice little family (at $100,000 a pop.) Then, you decided it was all too much, and Hollywood called. No books no learning; nothing but time in front of a TV, if Bristol is following the "parenting skills" of all of the other Teen Moms on TV (which I would imagine she is, given who own upbringing). They "choose life" in that they choose to birth these children, but then they feed them Mac and Cheese and sodas and candy and let the TV be the babysitter. I find it hard to believe that we will have a generation lower performing than the current crop of teens, but the Teen Moms are sure trying their best to make that happen.

Her mother was governor Think of the perks she got from that , plus help from the people who worked for her mother. She has had nannies to help her, other teen moms don't. Got a brand new car from DAD. She gets 1,700 in child support a month. She's so wooried about enhancing her looks, I wonder if she set up a college fund for Tripp. she has no talent, hasn't furthered her education. I'm perplexed about her keeping the child from Levi no where else does this happen. Even horrible parent is given his rights and she wouldn't be able to move across the country. There is something not right here. Bristol has no right to complain about anything, she has had more breaks, perks at 20, than most people get their entire lifetime.

ReplyDeleteAs far as I'm concerned, Candies has absolutely no credibility whatsoever on the subject of teen pregnancy. The fact that they chose as a spokesperson Bristol Palin, a young woman whose experience with teen pregnancy is so atypical, makes them look hypocritical. With a mother who has deep pockets and with the money she has earned on DWTS as well as with Candies, she has resources most teen mothers lack. In addition, she seems much more focused on her social life than on her son's emotional well-being.
ReplyDeleteShe will be 21 on October 18, so she is no longer a teen mother. She is someone who became a mother while she was a teen, and that will be just as true when she's 51 and her son is 33. As time passes, her age at his birth matters less and less. What matters more and more is that she step up to the plate and properly raise him. That money she spent on botched plastic surgery could have gone toward furthering her education so she could get a decent job to take care of her son.
After all, the novelty that she has been to Candies will wear off eventually and she will have to find some other livelihood. In the meantime, she is not practicing the abstinence she preaches, which makes her even more of a hypocrite.

Her lips are bigger, her chin massively more prominent, and her eyes seem bigger. Speculation is that she had neck liposuction, lip injections, a chin implant, botox, and perhaps even a face lift, which has changed the appearance of her once deep-set eyes.
Often a transformation like this can be the result of dramatic weight loss, but based on a comparison of before and after pictures, it doesn't appear that Palin has lost any weight.
The only role model characteristic Bristol exhibits is not aborting her unborn child.

What did you expect her to say? Aside from the fact everyone finds it disingenuous that Candie's has a teen pregnancy spokesperson and that Bristol has way more money than the typical family let alone single mom, she had to say something on the topic didn't she? Be honest, even with all that money for plastic surgery and a house paid in cash, it is hard for a teenager to be a parent. Even with nannies and money, it is a ton of responsibility and changes the arc of your entire life. I thought she did pretty well in the interview. I just think there is really nothing she could have said that wouldn't have set everyone off.

In the 1980's, I was a self employed carpenter, living on $18,000 a year, and eating oatmeal and ramen. I had no health insurance, couldn't afford the dentist, and drove a 15 year old car. I was a single father of two young boys, and in those conditions, it was no picnic living in crappy apartments.
And every year, whatever piddly amount of money I save, the IRS took it all on APril 15.
Bristol has a life that only one in 10,000 single parents can only dream of. MONEY my friends, makes all the difference.

I think it is more than lip omamma..poor Bristol (and Tripp) inherited Chuckles very underdevloped receded chinline. Lipo does'nt give you a non receding chin. She def had implants.
So Bristol learned what a Thesaurus is. Then she looked up "hard." One of the choices that were listed was "difficult," so she started using difficult when she meant, "It's hard!"

There's horrific, abusive and almost constant arguing with the teen dads, physical violence in relationships with family and boyfriends, arrests, evictions.
These girls deal with overwhelming inexperience, despair...more financial problems...
BEST of all, being a reality star on tv does NOT turn these girls into Bristol Palin style primadonnas.
It just showcases how hard their lives really are without any glamorizing whatsoever.
At least that ensures that THEIR messages about the hardships of being a teen mom are REAL, unlike Bristol Palin's luxurious lifestyle and ridiculous reality fame.
Even these teen moms are really not like average girls in the same circumstance. It came out they are making about 60,000 a year, from this show.

They have proven that liposcuction is no cure for fat. It gravitates to another section of the body. If you lose fat in the midsection and stomach it returns in the shoulders and back area.

They aren't attacks on you, they are meant to point out the possibility that for some reason Bristol isn't able to do these public events (post-partum depression, laziness?). No profanities, no trolling, no attacking.
I hadn't listened to her speak in the video until just now - definitely not Bristol. It's not a matter of having received elocution lessons, which would change how she might pronounce words. The enter pitch and timbre of her voice are not those of the Bristol we've seen before.

What she should have said is that she can imagine how difficult it must be for teens who don't have the support she has and the income she has and the nanny and the house, etc..
ReplyDeleteShe should be honest and not insult us by claiming it's difficult because she doesn't have a college degree yet (as if she wants one but can't afford the tuition or the time because she's taking care of her son) and because she doesn't have a steady job (as if she can't find work when we know her "unsteady" jobs pay more than most people earn in five or even ten years).
Sure, it's hard for any teen to be a parent. It's hard for ANYONE to be a parent. It sure does make it a lot easier when you have a full time nanny and you can do whatever you want whenever you want.
Imagine Sandra Bullock being interviewed about how hard it is for her to be a single mom because she never got her college degree and she doesn't have a steady job. Imagine Sandra Bullock being a spokesperson for single parents.
She would never say that and she would never be that because she knows she is LUCKY to be able to make that choice in her life without financial difficulty. She wouldn't insult us or other single parents by claiming otherwise.
