Michele Bachmann is terrified of lesbians. Not really very Presidential, but really are any of the other GOP candidates any better?

From the Daily Beast:

In April 2005, Pamela Arnold wanted to talk to her state senator, Michele Bachmann, who was then running for Congress. A 46-year-old who worked at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Arnold lived with her partner, the famed Arctic explorer Ann Bancroft, on a farm in Scandia, Minnesota. Bachmann was then leading the fight against gay marriage in the state. She'd recently been in the news for hiding in the bushes to observe a gay rights rally at the Capitol. So when members of the Scandia gay community decided to attend one of Bachmann's constituent forums, Arnold, wanting to make herself visible to her representative, joined them.

A few dozen people showed up at the town hall for the April 9 event, and Bachmann greeted them warmly. But when, during the question and answer session, the topic turned to gay marriage, Bachmann ended the meeting 20 minutes early and rushed to the bathroom. Hoping to speak to her, Arnold and another middle-aged woman, a former nun, followed her. As Bachmann washed her hands and Arnold looked on, the ex-nun tried to talk to her about theology. Suddenly, after less than a minute, Bachmann let out a shriek. "Help!" she screamed. "Help! I'm being held against my will!"

Arnold, who is just over 5 feet tall, was stunned, and hurried to open the door. Bachmann bolted out and fled, crying, to an SUV outside. Then she called the police, saying, according to the police report, that she was "absolutely terrified and has never been that terrorized before as she had no idea what those two women were going to do to her." The Washington County attorney, however, declined to press charges, writing in a memo, "It seems clear from the statements given by both women that they simply wanted to discuss certain issues further with Ms. Bachmann."

Lots of politicians talk about a sinister homosexual agenda. Bachmann, who has made opposition to gay rights a cornerstone of her career, seems genuinely to believe in one. Her conviction trumps even her once close relationship with her lesbian stepsister. "What an amazing imagination," marvels Arnold. "Her ideology is so powerful that she can construct a reality just on a moment's notice."

Seriously?  Well surely nobody really thinks that a woman who cannot even stand her ground when confronted by a lesbian, and an ex-nun, would be an appropriate choice to run for President?  Do they?

Indeed, no other candidate in the race is so completely a product of the evangelical right as Bachmann; she could easily become the Christian conservative alternative to the comparatively moderate Mormon Mitt Romney. "Michele Bachmann's a complete package," says Ralph Reed, the former Christian Coalition wunderkind who now runs the Faith and Freedom Coalition. "She's got charisma, she's got an authentic faith testimony, she's a proven fighter for conservative values, and she's well known." She's also great at raising money—in the 2010 cycle, she amassed a record-breaking $13.2 million in donations. (Bachmann's office didn't respond to requests for comment.)

I stand corrected.

Well bring her on then.  All the Democrats have to do if she becomes the GOP nominee is send Ellen Degeneres over to talk to her right before any debate, and after she runs screaming into the night, the President will win by forfeit. (Not that he would need to do anything except show up to beat this batshit crazy lady.)

But seriously go ahead and read the entire Daily Beast article, because this lady is several bricks shy of a full load.

Okay so we know that Newt's campaign is DOA, Rick Perry is a religious zealot, Tim Pawlenty is a coward,  Rick Santorum has a Google problem, Herman Cain has a racism problem, and Mitt Romney is apparently made of wood.

So that is ALL that the Republican have to offer?  Really?

I keep hearing some talk about what challenge that Jon Huntsman will present once he gets into the race.  What does he have to offer?

Perhaps we can learn that from his first campaign ad.

WTF?  Somehow I think that President Obama sleeps very soundly at night, don't you?

The stories about MB will just keep coming. She and her anti-abortions stoolies terrorized women seeking medical care at Planned Parenthood years ago. Her hiding behind the bushes at the gay rally was just par for the course. She has all kinds of crazy going on in her head. And her husband is a piece of work as well. There's a reason she's call crazy eyes. Is she articulate at times? Yes, but keep listening and you will become just as afraid of her as you are of Sara.

Incidentally, Where is Sara? Hanging with toad?

I thought this was a good detailed article. Kinder to her than she deserved. It sounds like her vaunted education is questionable. The same with her gay-phobic husband. Her 23 foster children were likely of mostly pretty short stays. But even without the jokes we all make, the woman is as crazy as McCarthy. I'm starting to think Granny has been trying to be her.

When I eventually found testimonies about this spell caster dr.marnish, how he helped many people to get their lover back, i contacted him through his email address dr.marnish@yahoo.com because I was absolutely desperate to get my husband back. Life without my husband was a real mess for me and my children. i wanted a dramatic change and I thought magic could be the solution. After discussing the resolution with dr.marnish, he gave me hope that he will restore my marriage. I felt confident that he will actually make my husband to return home and he did! It’s fantastic what dr marnish have done for me. his help is priceless! I don't know what I would have done without dr.marnish, dr marnish does his job so well he is organized and highly functional, i believe he is the best spell caster i can count on when it comes to love spell, I was floored that his spells worked Thanks! cherry Smith, Nottingham, UK

I wonder if Hunstsmans magic Mormon underwear gives him a wedgie while he's riding that dirt bike in his leathers.

What a goofball. I hate to generalize, but that Mormon thing is going to work against Huntsman out in the real world. He's just too corny.

  8. Palin must be gnashing her teeth right now! All that time and effort with the bus tour and Bachmann totally stole her spotlight by actually showing up and not drooling on herself during the GOP debate!

You just know Sarah's reading these articles buzzing up Bachmann as yet another MSM attack on her!

Stand back, kids, the Heavy Weight Fight between Palin and Bachmann is just beginning!

In all seriousness though - as much as I think Bachmann is crazy, she really does believe what she is saying. I mean - who runs away screaming from a lesbian couple unless they really truly believed in the nefarious gay agenda? Palin is a fake Christian - she only believes in money and in herself. She will strap on any old accessory - big cross, big Star of David, big boobs and spout whatever God-talk or business talk or anti-government talk that comes into her mind to suit the crowd she is addressing.

At least Bachmann is consistent (ok, consistently crazy....but still!)

It'll be interesting who the Evangelical community will rally behind. Sarah's got Trig - her secret pro-life weapon. She's a gosh darn Real American! She's the Tea Party's darling! And she's got the red Naughty Monkey pumps! Plus - she's got a direct line to God so she can write in His voice to her family and friends! That's tough to beat....

But Bachmann has "raised" 23 foster kids! And as far as we know - none of them are unwed teen moms with a reality show and fake chin, none of them are delinquents and none of them are bratty, spoiled or obnoxious.

Bachmann didn't go to a gazillion colleges to get ONE degree in Communications. She doesn't hide behind Facebook or Twitter. She's never quit her job as a Congresswoman, she actually showed up to the GOP debate and held her own.....hmmm.....she went to college and got a decent education......her husband isn't being accused of sleeping with prostitutes......she doesn't have any ethics convictions to worry about and oh, to our knowledge, she's never had to defend being actually pregnant with any of her children!

I think Palin's in big trouble.

    Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!

(Palin will either come out guns blazing and we will have a bitter bitch fight between these 2 OR she will cut her losses and rally behind Bachmann so even if she has to share the spotlight, she can still make money.....wonder which one it'll be? I really don't quite know!)

Repeatedly Sarah Palin has lied about who she is.

The Reason Her High School Basketball Team Won the State Championship.

Sarah Palin characterized herself as the player that led her basketball team to a state championship. The truth is that in the final three games of the state tournament she was unable to play. She only scored a total of 6 points in the last three games. The coach put her in during the last minute of the last game when her team was ahead by 4 points. Sarah did make one of her two free throws at the end of the game, so her team won by 5 points instead of 4. However to suggest that Sarah was responsible for the win was a total fabrication. She was not the basketball champion. Bennett, Trailblazer.

    The Hunter

During the speech Palin gave at the RNC where she introduced herself to the country, she portrayed herself as a hunter. The truth is that she didn’t even have a hunting license in 2008 and 2009.

The Champion of Ethics Reform in Alaska

Palin has repeatedly painted a portrait of herself as the champion of ethics reform in Alaska. However in the Troopergate matter, a bi-partisan committee determined that she:

“Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda,”

Then, as if to challenge the intelligence of the electorate, Palin said she had been cleared of any “hint of unethical” conduct.

    The Fiscal Conservative

Palin has repeatedly labeled herself as a fiscal conservative. She is known for saying that the government should “Get out of the Way.” Even if Sarah Palin lies, the numbers don’t. Here are some worth noting:

$5,500,000.00 – amount of federally funded earmarks Wasilla received while Palin was Mayor.

$35,000.00 – amount Palin paid per year for the lobbyist hired by Palin while mayor of Wasilla to obtain earmarks.

$26,000,000.000 – amount of federal tax dollars spent by Palin on the “Road to Nowhere”, a road leading to the edge of a cliff where the bridge was originally intended to be built, but was canceled before construction of the road was started. According to the Alaska Transportation Priorities Project, a group promoting “sensible transportation systems in the state,” the “Road to Nowhere” was an “irresponsible waste.”

$27,000,000.00 – amount of federal earmarks Palin secured with the help of her hired lobbyist for Wasilla’a town of 6,700 residents.

$197,800,000.00 – amount requested in earmarks for Alaska while Palin was Governor; a total of 31 earmarks representing more per person than any other state in the United States.

$233,000,000.00 – amount requested by Palin for the “Bridge to Nowhere”.

$3,000.00 – amount of debt incurred by each resident of Wasilla during the time Palin was mayor.

$50,000.00 – amount of city funds Palin used without authorization to redecorate Mayor’s office in Wasilla, including red wallpaper that made it look “like a bordello” according to Wasilla City Council member.

$1,200,000.00 – amount of debt of Wasilla had when Palin began as mayor.

$24, 800,000.00 – amount of debt of Wasilla had when Palin left as mayor.

70% - amount of debt-to-GDP ratio of Alaska when Palin resigned as Governor. That debt represents the highest state debt burden in the United States.

Sarah Palin and aides like Sharon Leighow have knowingly, purposefully, and intentionally lied to America. From political issues to jogging with Trig we have proof that Sarah Palin is a chronic liar. No wonder there is so much controversy about whether Trig is actually Sarah’s child. Sarah has taught us to distrust everything she says. She and her aides have engaged in a pattern of deceit that is unrivaled in American politics. That is a profound accomplishment.

Bachmann's stance against public schools was just as scary. She went door to door in our neighborhood and told people all kinds of ridiculous and scary lies about curriculum, etc. if her gang of five wasn't elected to the Stillwater School Board. I believe it was part of the concerted efforts of right wing extremists to take over schools in MN at the time. The woman is ruthless and will lie with the best to get her agenda passed.

I have been amazed that she was elected, but her district is one of the whitest and had been one of the wealthiest in the nation at one time. Her last opponent in an election, Tarryl Clark, was a nice lady, but ran an extremely poor campaign that didn't highlight the Bachmann crazy. Tarryl was no match for Bachmann who toned down the crazy during the election.

Frankly, the democrats allowed her to rise in popularity on the public stage by not having a strong candidate who would highlight her crazy run against her.

Here is another Michele Bachmann scandal that deserves some exposure.

    Michele Bachmann associate Bradlee Dean.

Most recently in the news for this:

There's something fitting about this: On the day that the Minnesota Legislature is likely to vote forward a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, the Republican leadership invited the most notoriously bigoted preacher in the state to give the session's opening prayer.

Yep. On this dark and stormy day, the GOP couldn't resist twisting the knife, inviting Bradlee Dean, the hard-rock hate-jock youth minister, radio personality, and violent homophobe to talk to legislators about what God wants from them. Dean is the guy who argues that homosexuality is actually a federal crime, blames gays for the holocaust, claims the average homosexual molests 117 people, and praises extremist Muslims for executing gays.

Needless to say, his opening prayer wasn't exactly for everybody.

The prayer directly attacked the beliefs of the currnet President.

Closing out his prayer, Dean acknowledged that he was supposed to be giving a non-denominational prayer:

"It's not about the Baptists, it's not about the Catholics alone or the Lutherans or the Wesleyans or the Presbyterians, evangelicals or any other denomination, but rather the head of the denomination, and his name is Jesus, as every president up until 2008 has acknowledged."

Not to put too fine a point on it, but he means every president right up to the idolatrous heathen, Barack Hussein Obama.

Link to video and text of this so called 'pastor' and his so called 'prayer'-

    http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2011/05/bradlee_dean_opening_prayer.php

Link to Michele Bachmann praying for Bradlee Dean and his 'ministry'.

    http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2011/05/michele_bachmann_prays_for_bradley_deans_homophobic_ministry.php

... Dean didn't just come out of nowhere. He's been affiliated with local Republicans a long time. Including Michele Bachmann, who offered up this bizarre, acid trip of a prayer to his anti-gay ministry, "You Can Run But You Cannot Hide."

Listen to this prayer at the above link. Both Bachmann and Pawlenty are associates of this Bradlee Dean. In the words of Michele Bachmann-

"This ministry, 'You Can Run But You Cannot Hide,' they are not sidetracked, they're on course," Bachmann intones. "They're way on course. Because they get it. They get what this is all about."

She then goes on to talk about a "fire of the gospel" sweeping Minnesota and turning it into a "sweet-smelling incense of praise and sacrifice."

    Yeah, it's that crazy.

Bachmann is of the religious ilk who believe literally in Satan and demons. She has made it clear that she believes homosexuality is unnatural and evil--so 'of Satan.' This belief is a special brand of paranoia that can't be touched by mental health professionals because it hides behind the sanctity of 'faith.' Remember when she and her husband were busted spying in the bushes on a gay pride parade in St. Paul? This was an entirely legal public event. Anyone was welcome to be a spectator, so there was absolutely no reason for subterfuge--unless you have irrational fears that gay people are evil and therefore a threat to you.

I truly wonder how many modern Evangelicals have a diagnose-able mental illness that they channel into the pseudo-legitimacy of religion? It would be catastrophic for someone with this profile to be elected to the highest office in the land, because it would elevate pathological paranoia into some legitimate-seeming worldview. Yikes! How can we have come to this point?

Bachmann's step-sister whom she grew up with and was close to is gay. There have been some really bad/hurt feelings in the family.

As far as all those foster kids- they only fostered teenage girls who were also old enough to babysit Bachmann's five children.

BTW- Minnesota pays $30 a day / $900 a month per foster child. So she had free babysitters and an additional income for the seven and half years that she and her husband did the fostering deal. Lot's of stories from the locals in her district about this.

I'd love to talk to a couple of the girls- now women that lived with the Bachmann's back then.

Egad, the look of that woman is nothing less than SCARY.

Maybe she believes in demons so much, because she is possessed by one.

And, why is it that its not surprising in the least, that all Republicans are against education?

Is it because, when you look at a "red and blue" map, the Democrats are so strong in areas where there are heavy concentrations of colleges?

(If we can't keep them all barefoot and pregnant, at least we can keep them stupid--may be the right wingnut agenda)

I mean seriously, the punchlines just write themselves.

    Now a for real "seriously"...
Gryph, it's SERIOUSLY time to do a WHERE THE HELL IS TRIG??? post.

I literally lose sleep because I feel like we as a community in Alaska and the nation failed the baby known as Ruffles. None of us wanted to make waves, or get on the wrong side of Palin...so we've just let it go. And we tell ourselves that Palin COULD have paid off an unethical surgeon to fix Trig's ears. There COULD be no missing baby, that tiny, emaciated thing Sadie was holding COULD turn into the 20+ pound hulk at the RNC in only 14-16 weeks. I mean it COULD happen, right? Nothing is impossible...

Those are the things I tell myself to make me feel like I'm not forsaking a tiny victim with no voice.

And now Trig is MIA. Trig, whom Palin loves to show off so much she will wake him up and parade him into a crowd wearing no pants or socks when it's 40 degrees out, in the middle of a swine flu pandemic...has not been seen in months.

I can't swallow my concern again. The anecdotal reports of Trig being too large for Palin to handle combined with her refusal to participate in her normal behavior of holding him up to her base like a baby Simba...knowing Trig is what brings in the big bucks...makes me scared for him.

I truly do not care if people call me the nosiest old biddy in the world. There is a special needs child who cannot articulate his own fears, pain, concerns, and needs like a child of his age normally would be able to. He hasn't been seen in SUCH a long time.

WHERE is this precious little boy???

Someone's comment here has helped "gel" something puzzling together in my mind:

I wondered why it was, that the church people I knew as a kid, all seemed so nice, and even caring and loving...but as I grew older, the undercurrent in every church I got near, became political, and ALWAYS of the heavy conservative type.

So, just NOW, finally, it hit me: those people, like Bachmann, are virtually LIT UP with crazy, and bowl the meek over with their zealotry.

The meek may one day inherit the earth, but for now, they've been pushed aside in the churches, by the bullies who have little intention of doing anything Jesus would have approved of.

Sadly, by not saying anything, and seeming to go along with the anti-Christian behavior, they are just as guilty as their "leaders."

  43. Way more information about Michelle Bachmann than I ever wanted. She sounds as bad as Christine O'Donnell. I'd like to see a photo montage of just her eyes. She does have the crazy in them.

“So if Bachmann has fostered 23 children, let’s say for an average of five years, that would come out to a non-taxable $1,259,250,” the Wonk-Op writes. “No wonder she’s anti-abortion. Children are a cash crop for her.”

    http://wonkette.com/211978/michele-bachmanns-baby-farm

of course, she can't remember if they ever babysat the 5 Bachmann kids.

There is a big disparity on the length of time she was allowed to foster these girls. Some reports say 3 years before the state caught on....some say 7 years, others indicate it was 10 years.

We have taken in foster children ourselves. We never take more than 1 per year - we get too attached and it's painful to let them go, especially if they are being returned to an abusive situation. That happens a LOT.

Michele Bachmann has used her foster-care mommy status to win her votes in many MN church communities. Well, if the goodness of her heart has netted her $750/avg a month, while she housed unwed teens, taking in donations from said churches to "help" with their expenses, all while getting paid to care for them, while they get free health care from the state.....add it up. There has NEVER been ONE of these former foster kids who have come forward and supported her during campaigns. If she was such a great person, you would think they would, right? And to top it all off, she makes up the most ridiculous facts that are always found "liar, liar, pants on fire" by fact checking sites. Such a nice person???

Do you suppose the reason they only fostered girls was to protect her.. erm... effeminate... husband from temptation?

I wonder if the way the couple met was due to Michele seeking professional treatment for Teh Gay? Is it a dual beard situation? hahahaha

But seriously, we've seen time and again how the staunchest anti-gay rightwingers always get caught with their fist in the peanutbutter jar sooner or later...

If you want a religious zealot who is chin deep in fear based religious dogma as your Commander in Chief then yes, our little Shelly is your gal.
1:38 PM. Please don't call Michelle Bachmann Shelly. My cousin's name is Shelly. In fact my dad used to call her his "little Shelly". She was his favorite niece. So calling Bachmann Shelly is demeaning to everyone who is named Michelle but goes by Shelly.

Thinks highly of herself if she believes a lesbian would just come unhinged and be unable to control herself around The Great Michelle.

I've been on this earth a lot of years now and I've never had a lesbian make a pass at me.
That probably doesn't say a lot for me.

But, folks, I've sure as hell had preachers be feely, grabby to me.

I'll stick with my lesbian friends. They're more trustworthy.

Question for the group: If a woman politician, any woman politician, Palin, Pelosi, whoever was getting off on another woman's hand up her skirt in a public washroom, what would the lady politician do?

Question: Why are some politicians who are most vocal on homosexuality usually the ones who get caught with a wide stance. I just don't get it!

And besides, if it did then it would all come out in the wash and Bawwkman would be found to be a very nice girl who lauded special favours on those girls.
