A trip down memory lane to back when MTV was ALL about music.

I am literally posting this for NO other reason than that I was looking for a video and, after seeing this in my favorites, found myself rocking out for four minutes while sitting at my computer.

In my opinion this song has one of the most contagious beats in the history of rock and roll.

Go ahead, just TRY to sit still without at the very least tapping your foot as it plays. I bet you can't do it.

(Oh by the way I am a huge fan of "The Big Chill" as well.)

Our youngest son, the only one who lives in town, was a no show for a Father's Day dinner scheduled for Saturday night to accomodate his plans. I am still fighting back the tears. My husband and I tried to cheer each other up. Dinner music ? The Big Chill soundtrack- it took us to a better place for a while.

It's amazing that Mtv was able to ruin TWO all-music channels. Remember M2? That was even better than original Mtv, it had a much more eclectic and interesting range of music. Then the reality show cancer spread to it as well and it turned to garbage.

    Mtv can burn in hell...

This is one of my favorite versions of this song.
Marvin Gaye Heard It Through The Grapevine (From "Live at Montreux" DVD). The video is classic eye candy.

Remembering The Big Man Clarence Clemons who passed today.

The Marvin Gaye version is great, but I prefer the 11-minute version by Creedence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFtSDalGuuA

Yup. I remember it was Thanksgiving, and all the cousins were over when our cable station finally gave us our MTV. We just sat mesmerized for hours.

A little useless trivia for ya - the first video ever played on MTV:

Thanks for the break, Gryphen! I think we all need it.

  8. Thanks....I really miss my MTV. Back when it was music, I had it on most of the day when at home.

These days, I never watch, it's garbage!

What a nice break and brings back great memories for some of us who are a "little" older. Thank you Grph for sharing.

I love this version. My daughter used to get angry with me when I would play it in the car because she KNEW "it was really by the California Raisins and that guy is ruining it!" I've been hooked on the Gladys Knight version lately, though. I do miss when MTV and VH-1 were about music.

Sorry about your son, Anon @ 8:25. Ours will be a no-show as well...

That video was hilarious. Brings back some memories. Thanks, Gryph.
And thanks to the other posters who left some urls to great memories, as well.

Also, too, not to get off topic, but every one of them in Gryph's video danced better than Bristol Palin, lol.

The music is fabulous; the video was one of the cheesiest videos ever! LMAO. Not certain Marvin had that scene in mind!

Great music. That, plus anything by Sam Cooke is contagious. I always see the California Raisins when I hear that song. My son bought me the little plastic replicas of them. He passed away last year, but I keep the raisins in my china cabinet. Very precious to me.

Take that, Mark and Bristol. That was some dancing/choreography!
You win. I couldn't quit tapping.

A solo from the Big Guy Clarence seems appropriate today. Anything for him?
