Despite the rhetoric coming from the GOP not ONE current Republican candidate, or potential Republican candiate, has a snowball's chance in hell against President Obama in 2012.

In a side by side match up with each of the potential Republican Presidential candidates for 2012, essentially Obama eats their lunch for them according to Real Clear Politics.

Here is the breakdown.

Against Mitt Romney, who will surely emerge from the primary much more battered, bruised, and politically damaged than he is right now, President Obama polls at 4.3% higher in a potential 2012 election match up.

(By the way, Romney is in fact the GOP's best hope.)

Against Libertarian favorite Ron Paul, President Obama enjoys a 9.8% lead in the polls.

(But believe me the American people do NOT yet know about the racism, crazy conspiracy theories, and batshit crazy ideas.  Once those come to light, Paul's chances shrink to somewhere between "slim," and his buddy "none.")

Against "Let God handle it" Rick Perry, President Obama maintains a very comfortable 11.6% lead.

(The thing about Perry is the farther away from him you are, the better he looks politically.  But up close?)

Tim "TimPaw" Pawlenty is nowhere even close to providing a challenge with Obama leading him at 12.3%.

(You know I was going to write more about Pawlenty, but I kept nodding off.  I understand that when sheep suffer from insomnia they count TimPaw's boring public statements until they fall asleep.)

Michele Bachmann is trailing right behind Mr. Ho-hum with the President enjoying a 12.4% lead over the batshit crazy, "pray away the gay" lady.

"I can't believe my numbers are that high. Maybe batshit is the new black."
Now Jon "The other Mormon" Huntsman is trailing behind Obama by about 14%.

(You might as well get used to seeing the picture above, because if Huntsman looks like he is actually presenting a challenge to any of the other GOP candidates, you will see it showing up in third party TV ads over and over again.)

Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich share the seventh spot, both trailing the President with an embarrassing 14.7%.

(After over thirty years in politics, I can only imagine how thrilled Gingrich is to be tied with the Godfather's Pizza guy!)

Okay well that is just about everybody, and NOBODY (With the possible exception of Mitt Romney) has any real shot against our President in a head to head match up.

Wait! Somebody IS missing. (Oh my God, who could possibly be lower than 14.7% this early in the polling?  They must have ZERO name recognition or something!)

In fact it is lower. MUCH lower.

In a match up with President Obama, everyone's favorite teabagging reality star, trails by a whopping 20%.

That's right Palin-bots, your idol trails the President by 20% and is in absolutely the LAST place on the list of potential GOP Presidential contenders for 2012, when it comes to viability.

You know somebody, the person's name escapes me right now, said that "2012 can't come soon enough."

I could not agree more.

(P.S. I just noticed that Santorum is not even on the list so I am guessing that he polled even lower than Snowdrift Snooki.  Ouch, that has to hurt!)

Pathetic palin will never be president. America already rejected her in 2008. She is not good enough for the country. She has about 50,000 actual supporters so not even a half of a half of 1 percent of the population. She is pathetic and a loser. She's a horrible mother with zero skill in anything except lying.

The GOP screwed themselves. They signed a Faustian bargain with the teabaggers. They traded the party's soul for the feverish, brainless support of the teabaggers. Now they cannot escape the obdurate idiocy of that tribe of mental pygmies.

I find it telling that Huntsman, who is probably the GOP's best candidate, doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being nominated.

Ron Paul won't be nominated, but if he was, I think he'd lose by about 25% to Obama. Paul is a racist prick to the core. He has never adequately renounced or explained his racist newsletters. If those became a campaign issue, he would be hounded out of the race.

The disconnect between the GOP and the general electorate is illustrated in how differently both groups view Bachmann and Pawlenty. Bachmann is all the rage in the GOP, but she has all the popularity of intestinal cramps amongst the general public. Pawlenty fares slightly better among the general public but in the GOP, he polls about at the same level as projectile diarrhea.

The GOP is simply out of touch with America, with the world, and with the 21st century. They are a bunch of regressive asshats who long for a time that never was.

I hope they nominate Bachmann , Perry, or Palin. Maybe then the party will implode and disappear forever. I think they are beyond reform, and until they disintegrate, we will not be able to have a better alternative emerge from its wake.

From your mouth to Thor's ear, Gryphen.

But we can't get cocky about it. The electoral map is extremely precarious and the revelations of likely voting results manipulation in Ohio 2004 makes the future all the more uncertain. The right wing is so threatened by an exceptionally centrist, intelligent, articulate, good-natured, NEGRO in the White House that it's hard to imagine how low they won't sink to defeat him.

Let's wait for November 7, 2012 to celebrate. There's so much work to do before then and, btw, your blog and your merry band of followers is part of that work. Thanks for doing what you do.

To 10:18 Anonymous: Your analysis of the current GOP is right on the money. The "I want my country back" crowd is out of step and out of touch with the reality of the modern world. They're truly being "left behind." And I agree it might do that regressive bunch of numbskulls good to push one of their more radical rightwingers into the GOP nomination--Perry, palin, or Bachmann--and really get crushed in the general election.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Agree with Beldar. This is WAY too early and WAY too close. Obama's approval rating needs to go up quite a bit. Also, the top poll on RealClearPolitics shows Obama VRS a generic Republican with the R in the lead. I don't get that, given all the other polls.

" When Palin is included as an option in polls on the presidential field,
she often receives more support than many of the announced candidates."
    So says Jason Clayworth .

I can't help smiling at the thought that Rick "google me!!" Santorum wakes up each morning with his iPod alarm set to "Hail To The Chief" and whistles engagingly in the bathroom mirror at his still boyishly handsome image as he whips the short end of his silk tie confidently thru the air to create an appealing Windsor knot perfectly centered above his collar. Then he picks up his once fashionable - now tattered and worn - leather briefcase and bursts out of his house with a smile on his face, a confident spring in his step and heads out to spend yet another day trundling forlornly door-to-door asking strangers to support one of the most pathetic, ill-conceived, ill-fated presidential campaigns in modern times. I salute you, plucky Rick Santorum! Huzzah!!!

I'm concerned about the voting rights in some states for the upcoming election. It's been written of late that some are requiring different types of ID and many black and other residents don't necessarily have it or it is difficult for them to obtain - lack of cars, etc. It is Republican led State Legislatures that have made these changes.

To me, it's obviously a way to eliminate or decrease votes for President Obama. It seem so blatant to me.

Herman Cain COULD take Obama to the cleaners. He has life and business experience. Obama had NOTHING as a candidate. People forget that too easily. Obama also had ONLY talking points and no real thoughts or voiced plans.

I will say this again, I will sneak in and streak through the next inaugural ball if the DEMs successfully convert the US to socialism.

Obama has now proven he will turn on his own party and constituents JUST to end fighting. That is not a leader. He doesn't know what he wants. If he knew what was best for the country and was even a decent leader (think Clinton and nafta), he'd have little opposition.

    Anonymous @ 1:00pm--
I don't know why I bother responding to you since if you were truly interested in discussion, you would have done enough research to realize what a lame argument you make.

I don't particularly care who has business experience. It seems to me a bunch of folks with "business experience" had to be bailed out by the US tax-payers shortly before the last election.j Why would I want a business man at the helm of our country? This is a government, not a business and it is stupid to think you can run a government like a for-profit business. I would rather have someone versed in social service--you know, someone who has actually helped someone other than himself or his stock-holders. So keep your "business experience"--who gives a rat's ass?

You demonstrate the usual low-information voter meme of democratic=socialist. Please learn of what you speak. Just because a government helps out the less fortunate of its citizens does not make it bad. Some might even think that is what we form governments to do. In a civilized world, at any rate.

Obama has shown grace under pressure, calm in the face of hysteria and most certainly has done so in the face of the rabid opposition at every step by those who can't stand to see him in the White House. He has virtually been attacked for every blessed thing he does or says but you don't hear him whining about the media or the "haters."

That impresses the hell out of me, and I will do whatever I can to see he stays in the White House until 2016.

"@BarackObama wants us to contact Congress. Great idea! Tell them to rein in our dangerously unsustainable debt to protect our credit rating."

She just doesn't get IT. Our credit rating will go down if we don't increase the limit. It shouldn't even be tied to any budget amendment. What the tea party is demanding is unprecedented. It's purely political and not good for the country.

I cannot imagine how she is going to rebuttttt all the stuff that will be coming out about her in the recent months - WITH PROOF SOURCES.

She's dull, onery, evil, a liar and terribly uneducated (I suspect McCain 'made' her appear as a college graduate (Idaho). She'll go nowhere.

Unfortunately, Obama just dropped to his record low approval rating. 40% according to Gallup.

The worst part is that things don't look like they're gonna get any better on the economic front. I was watching Morning Joe this morning, and the guy who released the latest GDP numbers called them "shocking" and was really talking about dour things are.

Not to mention, if our rating is lowered, that's even worst news.

I know the Republican candidates all suck, and some of them seem like massive jokes, but I really am feeling more depressed about Obama's prospects than I have in awhile. I always felt certain he'd be re-elected, but if the economy keeps sliding, I really don't think so. If he's at 40% and we haven't even seen the worst yet....what's going to happen?

For his re-election chances, I always counted on the economy picking up, at least somewhat. Now that looks like that's not gonna happen.

There are those on the left who hold beliefs completely opposing yours. They believe that rich Republicans exploit their poorly educated rabid supporters to purposely drain this economy.

    http://www.juancole.com/2011/07/top-stories-more-important-than-debt-limit-kabuki.html

"So everything unfolding in Washington was planned out in a room in 2001, and is going according to plan."

"Starving education of funding ensures that people are too ignorant to figure out this scam. They won’t even be able to distinguish between one-time stimulus deficits like Obama’s, and long-term structural deficits of the sort passed by Bush."

"The reason that the Republicans deliberately destroyed the balanced budget and created unprecedented government debt was precisely in hopes that at some point they could use the debt as an excuse to destroy social security, medicare, and myriads of educational and health programs."

Which seems more reasonable? That a person appointed by Pillsbury executives to head Godfather's Pizza can rescue our nation's listing ship, or that someone like President Obama is better equipped to overcome this country's challenges? President Obama has proven he's able to juggle all the balls thrown his way by his enemies and by events, and isn't sidetracked by outright bigotry (Herman Cain vs. Muslims) and doesn't resort to name-calling childishness (attaching a "socialist" label to everything POTUS does).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous8:01 PM

    And the band plays on....

Boehner caved to the tea party idjiots and coupled a balanced budget amendment to his new plan re: raising the debt limit.

The man had the gall to sing "Zippity do dah, zippity ay, my oh my what a wonderful day". So, basically, he's proven once and for all that he's uwilling and unable to lead.

This juvenile prank will ensure Obama not only gets re-elected, but that the GOP is, for all intents and purposes, permanently broken. I don't care what Obama's ratings are or how the economy tanks because the fault rightfully lies squarely on the shoulders of every member of the GOP who voted this in.

You don't fark with America's credit ratings, Social Security and Disablility recipents, and especially the veterans and have the right to call yourselves "conservative" nor "patriots".
