I think this cartoon pretty much says it all about how the Teabaggers are screwing up our country right now.

Are you as tired of this infinitesimally tiny group of undereducated, historically retarded, and politically inept bunch of morons endangering the ability of Americans to receive the money they need to survive from their government while actively destroying our reputation around the world?

If so feel free to sound off in the comments section.

None of this would have been possible if not for the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court. So you can add Roberts and Company to the asshole list.

  3. I've never been disgusted more, with Washington, than I am now. Mind you, I'm not blaming the Dems so much, but they should have grown a spine long ago, well before we got to this point.

No, like Ivory Soap, the Repugs get 99 44/100ths of the blame for the situation we're in now. If we default, and life gets truly ugly for us all, I hope that no current office-holding Repug gets re-elected come November. Maybe a timeout or two (or three, or more) is needed for them to come to their senses. Otherwise, they are truly dead as a political party.

They've certainly become a zombie party, eating the living to ensure that no one is alive at the end.

Yes, I am fed up with the posturing, self-serving bastards who allegedly represent us but apparently have lost all sense of reason and are tearing this country and its financial foundations to shreds, not to mention the havoc it is causing worldwide.

Who is behind it all? It's a cabal of religious "leaders" and big-money businessmen. I don't know what their true agenda is but it appears to be aimed at putting this country into such a bind that each and every one of us will end up in indentured servitude for eternity.

It has to stop, because divided we fall. That's the bottom line.

And what makes me even more sick about the teabagger klan is that Granny Grizzly herself birthed them herself completely naturally, no sympathy belly required. When all the future teabaggers were aghast and horrified about the possibility of a black man in the White House, along comes Her Mavericky who put a pretty face on some ugly sentiments. ('Who is Barack Obama?' Pallin' around with terrorists.' etc. etc.)
They could look up to her and feel comfortable (and even proud of) their own rotten, twisted, racist feelings.
I can't wait until 2012 when all the fake patriot, constitution ignoring moron teabaggers are thrown off the government payroll and back to the holes they crawled out of.

I have to assume that the Koch bros et al are telling the rest of the GOP to listen to the teabaggers or forget about any money from them. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. If that is the case, the GOP is going to have to grow a spine and serve the people rather than the corporations.

  9. The top income-earners and Fox News propaganda Channel are exploiting the "base" to stay in power. Reasonable and worried people understand you can't be for both Bush tax cuts and reducing the deficit (see the charts Gryph posted earlier this week). I wish the MSM would make this clear, and to also state that Dems are not proposing tax cuts, they want to repeal GWBush's catastrophic tax cuts, which are the largest contributing factors to our current deficit. And the unfunded wars didn't help. The MSM needs to push back when GOP talking heads blather on about GWB's TARP and stimulus being responsible for our current deficit. Grrrr.

I think Juan Cole has written what needs to be said and understood:

"So everything unfolding in Washington was planned out in a room in 2001, and is going according to plan."

"Starving education of funding ensures that people are too ignorant to figure out this scam. They won’t even be able to distinguish between one-time stimulus deficits like Obama’s, and long-term structural deficits of the sort passed by Bush."

"The reason that the Republicans deliberately destroyed the balanced budget and created unprecedented government debt was precisely in hopes that at some point they could use the debt as an excuse to destroy social security, medicare, and myriads of educational and health programs."

    http://www.juancole.com/2011/07/top-stories-more-important-than-debt-limit-kabuki.html

(Gryph published Juan's comments yesterday in a comment I submitted yesterday to his post: Despite rhetoric coming from the GOP, not one current Republication candidate, or potential candidate, has a snowball's chance against President Obama in 2012)

I'm an atheist, but the teabaggers make me hope there is a god, because, if there is, I will see them in hell.

That's not a threat like it's used in the movies, just a fact:

as an atheist, I guess I would go to hell, and those stupid motherfuckers better be praying that there is no god, because their actions are counter to everything that Jesus taught....

Burning in the fires of hell for all eternity would be a small price to pay to watch 'Satan' ramming their fucking 7 Mountains up their puckered assholes til the end of time.

One more pitch to vote on The Uncompleted. It's back down to a rating of 1.5 with just over 1,000 votes. If it gets to 1,500 votes then it will be in the list of the 100 worst movies of all time. At its current rating it would end up near the top of this list.

  13. For Balzafiar, who hit the nail on the head, and anyone else who likes to read great stuff, there are two books that went a long, long way to helping me tie the whole picture together. John W. Dean's book Conservatives Without Conscience is amazing. The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein will truly shock you. And I guess I will throw in a third - Paul Krugman's The Conscience of a Liberal. Probably the three best books I've read in the past five years. They cover it all; movement conservatism, the religious right, corporate greed, disaster capitalism, right wing authoritarians, and much more.

There's a lot of other great books, especially ones that will zero in on one aspect and give more details, but these three are all you need to get the picture and understand what these greedy, self serving, unconscionable, disgusting fuckers are up to.

Ok, Gryphen. You asked for it. You fucking got it.

Let's stop pussyfooting around, pretending it's the fucking retard teabaggers calling the shots. You know as well as I do it's those Cock brothers.

Side note - I refuse to pronounce their name correctly. Same with Boner. I could give two shits if it makes me sound like a drooling, paint-chip eating fucking "moran".

Those cunts are banking on driving the stocks down so they can scoop them up cheap. They've got Moody's and S&P in their back pockets, just like those bitches Palin, Bachmann and everyone else they've convinced that starving and overpopulation of the lower class is beneficial to this country. It's even in the God-damned "Marriage Vow"!

What do you think, Gryphen? What could possibly be the motive of bankrupting the country, ensuring more babies are born into poverty and then refusing to feed, clothe and educate them? Could child labor laws be next on their agenda? We know how they feel about minimum wage laws.

The Cock agenda surely won't benefit the white trash that are voting for it. Dumbass Michele doesn't even know she's voting against her own bread and butter, and she's the teabagger darling!

There is obviously a conscious effort to make 99% of the country poorer and less educated. The Cocks want to own EVERYTHING. They will NEVER have enough. They've got the government and the stock markets under their thumb, and that's just for starters.

David Cock ran for VP on the libertarian ticket back in '80s. He wanted to abolish the FBI, CIA, EPA, Social Security, welfare, minimum wage, oh the list goes on. Basically ALL of government. Is anyone under the delusion this guy's mellowed with age?

THIS is who the tea party REALLY is, folks. Sorry if I'm coming off like a fear monger. The fucking shitbag retard teabaggers need education, not scorn. (OK, that was a bit contradictory :)) They need to know who and what they're REALLY voting for.

Make the rich pay taxes, it's a simple as that. These Tea Party representatives are only protecting those that make over $250,000 per year, which is ironic because the Tea Party supporters in America are some of the lowest earners. The people that back the Tea Party do so based on religious dogma, and protecting the 2nd Amendment, not realizing that the Tea Party does not have their best interests in mind. The Tea Party gives God and Guns to the poor and tax breaks to the rich. As all they have to tell their poor supporters is that they are for a Theocratic America, and they are against killing babies, and NO the Government will not take away your Guns. Then their poor and destitute supporters will give them their lunch money, and the lunch money of their children, also too.

I am mad, ashamed, embarassed, scared, pissed, hopeless. I, for the LIFE OF ME, do not understand these corporations that are making record profits that get tax credits, etc. and pay NO taxes.

People are losing jobs. Companies are paying less. Benefits are minimal and rare. We will all be working until we take our last breath. Our ancestors are rolling over in their graves. This is the final act in the play that was set in place by our government on 9-11. They instigated 9-11 to place fear in the hearts of Americans so that a cabal of rich industrialists could take over our country. They allowed Obama to be elected to elicit a tiny bit of hope from a scared nation, but now have engaged the power brokers once again to take back what the Oligarchy feels is theirs; America, they own America.

Don't play by their rules, don't have a car payment, pay cash. Pay your mortgage off and keep your home instead of always "moving up", a 15 year mortgage can be paid off in 9 years with just a few extra dollars towards principal each month. Don't use credit. Don't let these people run your life. A cash society is one that cannot be owned by the banks and the corporations. It feels so good not to deal with banks. Get your paycheck in paper form and cash it at the bank it is written from. There are ways to keep these people from owning you.

You might think this sounds crazy, but this is what I've done with my life and it puts you in a position to not be concerned because you are the master of your own little world and no one owns you. Problem with America is that the Oligarchy is constantly trying to convince you that you need more, and more and more and the way to more is more credit. Then they own you, then you lose.

The rich and elite that the Republicans are protecting just do not want to pay their fair share of taxes.

Well, if we default and the markets crash, they are going to lose a helluva lot more that way than if they would just pay the taxes they should be paying.

I'm fed up with politics and politicians and what Murdoch, Fox, et al, has done to this country.

When Bill Clinton left office in 2000, we had a surplus of 230 billion dolars.

Then George W. steals 2 elections, and institutes his plan for an ill advised, across the board tax cut, which amounted to little more than welfare for the wealthy.

    George W. turned a 230 billion surplus into a 1.2 trillion deficit.

    Why ??

The answer is largely the Bush-era tax cuts, war spending in Iraq and Afghanistan, and recessions.

    8 years of bullshit !

How to explain income distribution to someone as ignorant as a teabagger?

    Pizza.

If America is 100 people at a table and a great big pizza is brought to the table and cut into 100 pieces...

The first guy takes 43 pieces
The next four guys collectively take 29 pieces
The next five guys collectively take 11 pieces

TEN GUYS have taken 83 pieces...

So the next ten guys each take one piece...

which lives seven pieces of pizza to be divided between the last EIGHTY GUYS.

That really is the wealth distribution in the United States.

Now, some pizza has to be given back to pay for roads and sewers and national defense.

Democrats think those guys at the top should have to give more - especially that first guy!

Republicans think everybody should contribute the same amount of pizza regardless of what amount they got.

...and they call that a "fair tax."

That would be because some of the people in this country are so stupid that they can't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. They are so dense that they cannot find their ass with both hands and a flashlight. They have already proven by their idiotic marches and protests that they don't care if they cut off their noses to spite their faces -- just so they can drive this country, along with their DAMN selves -- into the ground. And they have the nerve, the unmitigated GALL to blame President Obama. I guarantee you that if this was a white male in office we would not be going through all this bullshit. The problem is now as it always has been: the teabaggers (!) cannot abide a 1/2 black man as President. they need to get the FUCK over it and let him do his job, for ALL of us. That includes YOU Bachmanns, who are so hypocritical that I'm not even going to write anymore. Damn.

  58. ELECTIONS DO HAVE CONSEQUENCES as our TeaBagging friends pointed out after Obama was elected in 2008.

And because the Democrats stayed home in 2010, either because they thought the job was done or they thought Obama and the Democratic-led House weren't "progressive" enough (OMG - there's no public option!) or through sheer laziness, the Republicans elected 90-some odd TeaBaggers to the House.

And those "consequences" of the 2010 election are what we are suffering through right now. As much as I hate all - yes, that's right ALL - Republicans, I have equal contempt for Democratic voters who let this happen. I'm being blunt here.

I am a life-long Democrat from a long-line of Democrats. I consider myself "progressive", but I am also a political "realist". When I read about the "disappointments" some Democrats have with the Obama administration, I have a small part that says, "Fuck you, idiots!"
These people who thought Obama would get into office and just wave his arms and all progressive ideas would be put into action were as stupid and deluded as their counterparts on the Right who thought Sarah Palin could do the same thing if SHE was elected.

We are now living through the "consequences" of November, 2010. With any luck, this debt ceiling problem will be resolved in the next two days and we can move on with an intact economy. BUT, if so, then we - the sane ones - have to come together and get those TeaBaggers out of office in Nov 2012.

And I swear that I won't be able to control my temper in months going forward if I hear one more fucking whining Democrat moan about Obama's lack of "progressive values" and the fact that he has to work with the other side.

    DID I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!!

  59. @Randall lol - I have used that exact same analogy, only I used apples as my prop.

@sunnyskies - I have read all your comments on this thread and find you well versed, wise, and on the money. You will see everything come together in the books I recommended although you will need a strong stomach for The Shock Doctrine. Naomi Klein is an excellent writer. The book is well researched and sourced to perfection. Reads like a page turning murder mystery. I couldn't put this book down.

One more recommendation and it's free. The Authoritarians by Bob Altemeyer. Download here:

damn, so many great comments here from people who "get it."

the truth is that we still live in a world of kings and serfs. the kings like to verbally promote democracy because it makes the serfs think that they really have a say-so in things. it keeps the serfs participating in their system, ultimately bringing more $$ to the kings - instead of the serfs dropping out completely. that's what it all comes down to - bringing more $$, power and control to the kings.

just remember that when it comes time to vote for a president in a general election - our choices have already been approved by the kings. one can't even win a primary without being approved by the kings. yes, obama was approved. he's still very much better than mccain, but he would have never gotten as far as he did without the sanction of the kings.

all politics is manufactured to herd the people into doing what the kings want.

phoebesinsantafe @7:47, well said, I too feel just as you do. I guess the whiney ass Dems think that we would be better off with one of the idiots that are running for the republican nomination. Am I totally happy with all that Obama has done? No. Will I vote for him in 2012? You can bet your ass on it, the alternative is out of the question. We can only hope that the idiots that elected these teabaggers wake up. If this debt ceiling thing isn't done in time, and I hear one republican complaining that they didn't get their SS check, I will be quick to tell them, they are getting just what they asked for.

After watching this "spectacle" all weekend, I'm ferverently praying for aliens to come and destroy Congress a la "Mars Attacks!". My question: Would any of us care?

    Bastards....Fucking ignorant, arrogant, stupid Bastards.

Are you kidding me? Effing furious is how I feel. I can't believe they're still diddling with the Boner plan vs the Reid plan as if either of the two are worth a damn. Real world issues are always pushed through at the 11th hour with little exchange of ideas, as though we give our congress only 5 minutes a day to work. Boner's plan is a pile of excrement and any attempt to balance the budget while our retirement plans take another beating on Wall Street is CRIMINAL.
Why can't the Dems and the Pres command the dialog here?
Why can't we see a simple debt ceiling only bill?
Why are we letting the issue be hijacked by the idiots?
The Reid plan should be 1 sentence long!

There is no guarantee that S&P won't raise our interest even if Obama sacrifices enough elderly and poor to get the ceiling lifted.

And after this moronic performance by Congress and the POTUS what will S&P and the rest of the world do the next time the ceiling needs to be raised?

By Obama not acting swiftly, even if it was necessary to do it unilaterally, we have now created a "Wolf, Wolf" scenario that the world will remember the next time this issue comes around. The world sees the largest military in the world being run by drooling idiots who want to borrow more of the world's wealth to keep funding their wars.

Hey,what's there not to love about that?

I mean where are we going to get money for roads bridges airports hospital etc. when the middle class is unemployed and it remains the major source of tax revenue.

Plus we can't end the war now, even though that could end the debt crisis in a nano second, because unemployment would explode and neither of the parties nor Obama is doing squat about the now much less a future larger employment crisis.

They are too bushy screwing old people over for the crisis 20 years from now.

Well, the GOP has finally succeded. It has boxed Obama into a hole from which the country can only survive if he exercises the 14the amendment..
    8:35 PM

Obama boxed himself in by stepping back across his own line in the sand.

Yes. After 2 years of waffling he drew a line in the sand, said send me a clean bill.
Then stepped back across his own line and said he wanted the Grand Bargin.
Then stepped back across his own line and said send me a clean bill.
Then stepped back across his own line and said he wanted the grand bargin.
And repeated the whole cycle at least once more.

Now there is not time for both houses procedurally to process a clean bill, so Obama himself has set the scenario for sending disabled children and the elderly to their graves over a crisis that will not come for 20 years, if ever, in order to deal with a crisis that is due this week.

Damm the man he cannot even stand up against his own decisions, and I am one of his whipping boys, since I am over 65 and a Baby Boomer.

  67. I think there is way too much stereotyping of seniors on this blog. No doubt there is a contingent of relatively well-to-do and reactionary seniors who support the Tea Party. Maybe they have investments or big pensions other than Social Security. Maybe they are rabid racists. For sure there is a contingent of fantasizing old men who support SP and Michelle Bachman. Whatever they are the vast majority of seniors do not fit this mold.
I am now 68. I have white hair. I have used a power wheelchair for almost 30 years. Life got very expensive at the same time my earning power went south. If Social Security and Medicare are abolished, I am in a world of hurt. Those programs are my last defense and now my only resource. If those are gone I will have no way to buy food. I have been a flaming liberal since the 1960s. I have done my best to be a good citizen, to participate and to do what I can to make this country a better place. I know many people in my same boat, way more than there are Tpartiers. When you throw around that “Hoveround set” as a blanket description, you lump people like me in with those crazy people. You marginalize us. You buy into the premise that seniors can be discounted. When you marginalize us you endanger us. Think about it. If not us, how about thinking on what will happen to your parents if some of this stuff gets enacted, G-d forbid?
How about talking about the Dirty Old Men instead? That seems to be SP's prime support. That would be a whole lot more accurate.
Most of all, vote. Put yourselves out there. Volunteer. Get your friends out to vote. Shout. March. Hold signs. DO something. Most of all, do what you can to get those TP people out of office. They will do incredible damage to all of us if they are unchecked. They have already done a huge amount of damage to the whole country. We need to get them out of power., the sooner the better.

"If you need a reason to get mad may I suggest a quick trip to the Senior Citizen Center in your town/city. These poor people are scared shitless. Most will go under and be homeless in a month if they don't get their checks.

This crap the republicans have been pulling since 9-11 to keep us a nation in fear is about over.
It's time for some good old American ass kicking. I hope we haven't forgotten how."

    Exactly.

  71. The Teabaggers are making an emotional argument, which, in a Democracy, is very hard to effectively counter with only facts and figures. The Democrats need to fashion their own compelling emotional argument, but one that is backed up by facts and figures. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen until what the GOP is doing hits us full force.
