Just who do you think Michele Bachmann might model her Presidency after? Perhaps watching her fawn over a recent President will provide us with a clue.

Jesus, that was disturbing.

One has to wonder if there had not been a crowd present exactly how Bachmann might have shown her affection for the Worst President Ever?

It is kind of bizarre that if the Teabaggers were honest about their frustration over what has happened to their country they would seek to have George Bush brought up on charges of treason, but I guess because he is white like them he gets a free pass.

Well if this is the guy that gets Bachmann's panties all wet, I have to imagine his two terms would serve as the blueprint for her own.  As if we needed yet ANOTHER reason to dismiss this nutjob.

The white haired woman behind Bachmann is Virginia Foxx (R-NC) who is just as crazy and nasty as Bachmamm and the half term governor but because uf her age and ugliness does not have the exposure they do.

This is what IMMEDIATELY comes to mind when I hear that woman's name. She would have played Tonsil Hockey right there on the floor if she could have gotten away with it.

This needs to be on a loop, over and over again, no voiceover, just black and white screen asking if THIS is who should represent the "greatest nation on earth."

To scream sexist is 'weak' in some circumstances and Palin and Bachmann wanna play in the 'big' club -- SUCK IT UP. They toss the bombs against the males and therefore they deserve everything back.

I'm a woman, and what offends me is Skank Hoes using their skankiness to get ahead in life instead of their brains and actual skills. It may seem sexist because all the focus is on these two women right now, but when the Mass Senator Scott Brown's beefcake photos showed up, there was plenty of scrutiny there, too.

Of course, he didn't continue to wear his hot pink shorts in public, or wink, or flirt, or lick his lips seductively, or wear clothes only a hooker would find acceptable. He appears to have grown up, which is something I'm not sure Caribou Barbie will ever accomplish.

I find it rather odd that Marcus always seems to have his hands on her, guiding her away from the crowds, sometimes actually pulling her.

And Bill, you are completely right about Virginia Foxx. Virginia Foxx is that crazy old lady who lives to spread gossip all over town. My sister lives in her district, and I've tried to tell her how crazy the woman is. But no, she's an "R", so that's all that matters.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I live near Foxx's district, and she is indeed a hateful representative. Can you believe that woman was an educator? Community college president or adminstrator. My representative is bad and needs to retire (Coble) but at least he doesn't embarass me on the national news, like Foxx does. Don't judge NC by these folks. NC was blue by 14,000 votes in 2008. Then in 2010...well, thanks to our Republican state legislature, I'm out of a job. This is what happens when people are careless about their vote, or don't bother to.

I have to differ that Bush is the "Worst President Ever". I sadly did not become actively involved in politics until my oldest (now 21 yr old) son challenged me on my political views.

Unfortunately, I did not have the time to research and understand because I was a mother raising my children while my (now) ex-husband traveled the world for business. Now my oldest is about to finish his senior year at a nationally recognized university with a 3.98 GPA (in Political Science & Journalism). The reason I mention this is because this son was the replica if the stereotypical republican, Michael Keaton from "Family Ties". A person grows from knowledge (both him and I).

While I acknowledge being politically ignorant - my son has made me a well-informed person.
The politician that Sarah loves to emulate - Ronald Regan – SORRY - he is the worst president ever. Bush just happens to be the most incompetent. The historians and media may want to “idolize” Regan, but if you look at history – he is responsible for the beginning of the catastrophe our country is now facing. Yea Sarah – he’s your hero – which really says it all! History cannot be made up to suit one’s purpose.

If you thought that was disturbing, then check out this clip from 2006 when Bachmann was running for Congress.

She's "Hot for God". Her own words.
"God then called me to run for United States Congress" also her own words.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrJA25HdGLM

Another 2006 church campaign appearance video has her proclaiming that "...you are now looking at a fool for Christ. This is a fool for Christ."

PRIOR: All I can say is, thank God Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton were our first serious national office candidates of note.

RESPONSE: Don't forget (although you may be too young to remember) Barbara Jordan and Shirley Chisholm.
(I guess Eleanor Roosevelt doesn't count for a politician)
And Ann Richards (from Texas!), Margaret Case Smith, Clare Booth Luce and a few others.

The fact that there are so few says volumes, but Hillary & Geraldine stand on their shoulders (and I think they would agree with that - and neither was the first on the party national ticket for the presidency. Shirley CHisholm was the first.

Actually, it hadn't occurred to me until just now, but with Nikki & Michelle & Sarah and some others, it may actually suggest that women are becoming more equal. There are scores of white males who are incompetent, idiots, unethical, whackadoodles. No one blames white males for the bad apples. But bad apples among underrepresented groups are rare. When your group can be represented by an idiot, it means you are gaining in the equality race. No way would an overtly sexy, beautiful woman have been elected to anything 20 years ago.

Barbara Jordan gave one of my favorite speeches of all time. Go here: http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/barbarajordanjudiciarystatement.htm

It was the most eloquent, despite being a junior member of the House, up against many titans giving a speech on the same topic.

As of 8 a.m. this morning they lifted the evacuation order for Los Alamos. My evacuation was confined to the one IN MY PANTS when we first saw the smoke and flames - but that is a different story.

The Lab will open Wed. and some businesses are even open today. We have a hospital again and life may finally approach normalcy in the coming days.

CORRECTION: I misstated earlier (incomplete research - my bad). Geraldine & Sarah were the first to be on a national ticket for the presidency/vp. Hillary still hasn't been the nominee of a national party However, she was the first woman to win a major party's presidential primary for the purposes of delegate selection, and the first to campaign for the nomination in all 50 states.

Margaret CHase Smith was first woman to be nominated for President on a national ticket (Republican)

Shirley Chisholm was the first woman to seek the nomination on the Democratic ticket. I imagine Hillary and Shirley would have been great friends.

    more fun facts:
Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the first woman to run for the U.S. House of Representatives (even though she was not eligible to vote.)

And there is a pretty impressive list of political women of lesser national and and state stature.

I'd put Barbara Jordan above any other political woman of post WWII, but probably not above Elenore Roosevelt, unless you count how far down the social pecking order Jordan had to start relative to Roosevelt.

What I find "sexist" is that a dumb ass like Palin or Bachmann can even be considered higher office material when the only reason for their entire career is their looks.

I'd vote for a woman for VP or President but I'd never vote for either one of these two. McCain had an opportunity to place a smart, accomplished and experienced female politician on his ballot as his running mate, instead, he chose Palin.

He only chose Palin because she is pretty. Had she looked like Virginia Foxx, she'd still be an obscure governor from Alaska.

Agree that Reagan is reason GOP can worship at the altar of "No Tax Increases" at the country's expense. See today's NY Times article that describes how the median pay raise for top 200 execs was 23% in 2010 while the average worker's increase was 0.5%. Why doesn't this spark outrage? Why don't Dems remind voters that they're not supporting tax increases, they are eliminating GWBush tax cuts?

I can sympathize with closeted gays; especially someone his age. Things were different 50 years ago. But he has said that gays are "barbarians" who need "discipline" (I'll refrain from making a snide remark). He's receiving federal funding to counsel teens to "pray the gay away".

I think people like Marcus Bachmann (i.e. Larry Craig) are jealous of gay people who live openly and happily. They want all gays to live in denial like they've had to.

Gasman, glad you're back and okay; glad your home is fine as well. Missed you!

Re: Bachmann's comments about her husband being the "head of the house" and "God calling her" to run, this is pretty standard evangelical Christian verbiage. Because I (to my lasting detriment) grew up in this subculture, I'm surprised at how foreign these kinds of comments are to people outside it. But it's phrases like these, as well as her political positions, that tell evangelicals/dominionists that Bachmann is one of them.

Male "leadership" is a HUGE trope and jealously guarded principle for many conservative "Christians." Many dominionists--especially the highly chauvinistic, "this country started deteriorating when women got the vote" kind who attempted to indoctrinate me--wouldn't go for Bachmann if she didn't clearly (claim to) defer authority to her husband.

Many dominionists also sprinkle their language with "God called me to..." or "then the Lord told me..." or "Lord willing" (when speaking of future plans--even something like "We're going on vacation to Hawaii next week, Lord willing"). When I was a teenager in dominion-land, I tried to talk this way too, but it always felt artificial to me. I started to wonder how many other people felt that way, too, but continued to use these phrases out of the fear of sounding less spiritual than their peers.

Now, I get the heebie jeebies when I hear people talking this way. I usually excuse myself, go sit in a dark corner, and listen to Korn or Cradle of Filth until I feel better.

    @ Balzafiar,

Wow, could you be any more condescending to me? You don't know me, yet you state I "don't know what I'm talking about?"

I stand by my statement. If Palin had looked like Virgina Foxx, she wouldn't have been chosen no matter who made the decision to choose her. Bottom line is McCain had final say so in who shared his ticket.

I know from watching the male members of my family (also republicans) fall all over themselves trying to defend this woman's position on McCain's ticket and the defense always ends with the declaration "besides, she's hot".

Again, she was chosen because she was pretty. If she was accomplished, educated and intelligent such as Kay Bailey Hutchison or Olympia Snowe it would be another matter but she isn't. She's dumb as a box of rocks and the only qualification I can see or apparently my siblings can see is she looks good in a pencil skirt and heels.
