Apparently a group called "The Family Leader" has created a truly disturbing document that they are asking the candidates to sign onto.
Michele Bachmann, did not hesitate to snatch up the pen and put her John Hancock on it. (Oh let me explain to the Sarah Palin/Michele Bachmann crowd that John Hancock was a signer on the Declaration of Independence. In other words, an ACTUAL Founding Father.)
Here is the PDF of the vow, and a few excerpts from the preamble for your perusal.:
Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African American baby born after the election of the USA‟s first African-American President.
LBJ‟s 1965 War on Poverty was triggered in part by the famous “Moynihan Report” finding that the black out-of-wedlock birthrate had hit 26%; today, the white rate exceeds that, the overall rate is 41%, and over 70% of African-American babies are born to single parents– a prime sociological indicator for poverty, pathology and prison regardless of race or ethnicity. (Hello Bristol!)
About one million U.S. children suffer through divorce each year – the outcome of about half of all first marriages and about 60 percent of remarriages, disproportionately affecting economically-vulnerable families. (It appears that if Sarah wants to get the support from groups like this she will have no choice but to continue with her sham of a marriage, at least until after she quits any brief campaign she might launch. That is good employment news for Todd in this tough job market.)
Next we have the actual pledge itself:
The Candidate Vow:
Therefore, in any elected or appointed capacity by which I may have the honor of serving our fellow citizens in these United States, I the undersigned do hereby solemnly vow* to honor and to cherish, to defend and to uphold, the Institution of Marriage as only between one man and one woman. I vow* to do so through my:
Personal fidelity to my spouse.
Respect for the marital bonds of others.
Official fidelity to the U.S. Constitution, supporting the elevation of none but faithful constitutionalists as judges or justices.
Vigorous opposition to any redefinition of the Institution of Marriage – faithful monogamy between one man and one woman – through statutory-, bureaucratic-, or court-imposed recognition of intimate unions which are bigamous, polygamous, polyandrous, same-sex, etc.
And it goes on, and on from there essentially proclaiming only a marriage between one man and one woman (Though fortunately for Bachmann is does not specify one "straight" man and one "straight" woman".) as the ONLY acceptable form of marriage in this country.
I have no idea how many other GOP candidates might feel compelled to sign this vow, but it is pretty clear that it is designed to completely eliminate those like Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, and, in my opinion, Sarah Palin from the pack.
By the way there is MUCH more to read, including the footnotes. Here are a few of those, courtesy of The Maddow Blog, for you to gawk at in amazement.
It is no secret that a handful of state and federal judges, some of whom have personally rejected heterosexuality and faithful monogamy, have also abandoned bona fide constitutional interpretation in accord with the discernible intent of the framers. In November, 2010, Iowa voters overwhelmingly rejected three such justices from the state Supreme Court in retention elections. Yet, certain federal jurists with lifetime appointments stand poised, even now, to "discover" a right of so-called same-sex marriage or polygamous marriage in the U.S. Constitution.
Over the long run, Sharia polygamy, multi-partner childbearing, demographic jihad and the persecution of Jews, Christians, blacks, artists, feminists, gays, freethinkers and other non-conformists poses a threat to Western human rights in general, and to American liberty in particular.
Just when you thought the Republican candidates could NOT get any more radical. Holy shit!
Bachmann should be wary, this pledge might be setting her up for a fall. Her husband is of questionable sexual identity (as is Toad?) What if he gets caught engaging in activities with other men? I am sure all this single parent living in poverty stuff goes right over all the Palin's heads, after all Bristles get lots of money from Candies etc. At the rate she is spending it, it will come to a screeching halt when she tries to make it in Hollywood. There is SO much competition there from young women with TALENT, no kids, and pretty faces.
ReplyDeleteYet she's married to a gay man. Huh. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I dreamed this, but didn't Hitler have some kind of pledge "to the Fatherland?"
ReplyDeleteIt is getting crazier and crazier. This shift to extremist is very disheartening and scary.
Go, sign your pledge, Michelle and maybe Sarah, but we know the truth. Someday (I hope) Michelle's husband finds himself in a Minnesota airport with a wide stance towards an undercover cop.
I read the whole thing, and almost made it through all the foot notes. I may throw up.
ReplyDeleteGive it up Michele Crazy Eyes. Marcus will truly only find his happiness with someone named Jim whose eyes are a helllava lot less scary than yours. Signing that pledge will come back to embarrass you, Girl.
ReplyDeleteI recently heard Marcus Bachman's voice for the first time and all I have to say on the matter can be summed up in song:
ReplyDelete"It's fun to go to the Y …"
The rabbit hole the GOP is digging appears to go through and exit the other side of the planet. This is the most bizarre document I have ever seen meet the light of day in an election year. And that it is taken seriously and signed by Bachman is appalling. I would say it is her most extreme screw-up yet.
ReplyDelete"sharia polygamy" what?
ReplyDeleteI guess this is the only way they could think to target both Romney and Obama simultaneously.
Usually when a Repugnant does something like this it means they are having a same sex affair and they are cheating on their spouse and they are corrupting young people.
ReplyDeleteMaybe even some racy videos out there.
I take a longer view on this. It will bring countless hours of comedy and satire attention, when they desire to be seen as serious candidates, and its laughable level of hypocrisy will make them become even more 'velcro' to all the sexual and moral peccadillos that can be levied against them. Bottom line: given enough attention, enough time, and enough careful investigation to what they are REALLY doing, their lack of adherence to this parchment full of dribble could well hoist the entire tea party on its own petard.
ReplyDeleteIMO, the only national leader who could seriously sign such a pledge and stick to it would be . . . . Barack Obama. ;-)
ROFL.
Oh, gosh, I saw one statement that could signal the drive to do away with contraception:
ReplyDelete"Recognition that robust childbearing and reproduction is beneficial to U.S. demographic, economic, strategic and actuarial health and security."
If that isn't an endorsement of the quiver-full movement, I don't know what is. The Dominionists expect women to bear as many children as physically possible for as long as possible. They also expect the daughters to care for their younger siblings to allow the mothers to bear more children.
There is already movement in some GOP state legislatures to introduce bills outlaw contraceptives.
In Florida, groups are trying to get bills passed for "covenant marriages." That means no divorce for anyone for any reason.
Good freaking grief. Raising kids in abusive families is NOT going to help them. Not everyone can raise kids or should raise them due to mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse or whatever.
Crystal Sage - I, too, remember reading about similar Nazi pledges.
ReplyDeleteI've always felt uneasy since the Bush-Cheney administration started using the term "homeland" because it is much too close to the sound and concept of the Nazi "fatherland."
Why the hell would they include any information relative to African Americans? Are they trying to say we, as a people, had it better when we were slaves? Funny, they forgot to mention that those same "intact" slave families were torn apart whenever the next auction came to town.
ReplyDeleteIdiots!!!
Two categories of polygamy: polyandry, one wife, more than one husband: polygny, one husband, more than one wife.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, could use an extra husband to get some work done on the house.
Couldn't read it. It had almost the same effect as Sarah's voice. Very scary.
ReplyDeletecrazy fuckin loons.
ReplyDeletebut remember this people..sexuality is only an issue for the public and never these loons like bachmann who everyone points out is married to what appears to be a latent gay man ..at best.
how many have been exposed as gay, married cheaters ,etc etc???
besides the voters will not take this stuff serious so its more preaching to the loonie birds.
ps...i keep asking why you cant improve the comments section of this blog like every other blog has done??
it really shows disrepect to the people who come here.
OK, WTF is "demographic jihad" ?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Marcus had to sign to his agreement? Because I have heard he spends quite a bit of time in gay bars in DC. He is quite a lively little fellow.......
ReplyDelete@CrystalSage, Actually hitler (I NEVER capitalize that) had the ss take loyalty oaths directly to him.
ReplyDeleteThat would be one man and one woman---AT A TIME (for Newt)...and fundamental Latter Day Saints..etc.
ReplyDeleteThis "pledge signing" is disturbing in so many ways. The only pledge any federally elected official should ever be allowed to sign is to protect and defend the Constitution.
Any other "pledge" should be considered sedition and disloyal to the United States of America. Period.
I just cut my computer on and my home page came up which is hughes net and lo and behold there were 2 photos side by side of Bristol and Octomom; yep they are sisters for sure.
ReplyDeleteMarcus & Todd forever & always.
ReplyDeleteSarah in that picture could have been the elementary school teacher, now to look at Sarah she could be the hooker on the street. She sure has aged.
ReplyDeleteI pledge I won't vote for anyone who signs this pledge.
ReplyDeleteThis "pledge" will come right back and bite them in the ass.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I hear of someone who makes a big public deal about sexual conduct and "purity", I think the chances are pretty good they are privately very freaky.
P.S. That second paragraph about African-Americans having a "better" life under slavery is a major T-bag talking point. Gasman's phrase "obdurate ignorance" comes to mind.
Does anyone have any knowledge besides appearance of perceived homosexual gestures to suggest TP or MB is actually homosexual.
ReplyDeleteI have an uncle that I think has hand gestures that seem gay - but he's not. At last, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest so, including (but not limited to) to lovely daughters and his devotion to his wife.
"a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household" - WOW - can people believe this - WOW - Maybe some scholarship is in order.
ReplyDeleteWow - racist, homophobic, and elitist all at once! How do they do it?
ReplyDeletethe persecution of Jews, Christians, blacks, artists, feminists, gays, freethinkers and other non-conformists poses a threat to Western human rights in general, and to American liberty in particular.
ReplyDeleteExcept for Christians, the "Defenders of Marriage" generally hate all those other groups. Do they really care about Jews, freethinkers, non-conformists, etc? This might be progress, but I suspect this is window-dressing.
What a load of bullshit. If they are ostensibly protecting marriage, why the hell do they spend so much time commenting on the rate of single parent families of black people - both before and after Obama's election? Methinks they've betrayed their incipient racial animus.
ReplyDeleteThis is one big grab bag of conservative paranoia that seems to contain just about every social cause they've ever hyperventilated over. Race, religion, judicial activism, crime, poverty, divorce, jihad, Sharia law, and apparently every other woe that afflicts mankind are all running rampant just because gays want equality under the law.
Who knew?
I especially like the following:
"Over the long run, Sharia polygamy, multi-partner childbearing, demographic jihad and the persecution of Jews, Christians, blacks, artists, feminists, gays, freethinkers and other non-conformists poses a threat to Western human rights in general, and to American liberty in particular."
I am pretty sure that "blacks, artists, feminists, gays, freethinkers and other non-conformists" have MUCH more to fear from the crafters of this delusional paranoid screed than they do from faithful, monogamous gays and lesbians that simply want to get married.
Someone needs to explain how gay and lesbian marriages pose any threat to heterosexual marriages - or ANYTHING else in this document for that matter - because I fail to see the connection.
I left this comment at Laura's blog
ReplyDeleteHere's a thought. Sarah fakes a pregnancy for whatever reason. She knew she was on a list to be VP. She didn't know her daughter would end up pregnant, due in Dec.
If the same events panned out through Dec, without a Tripp pregnancy, how would the Palins have explainedthe controversy? They wouldn't have had Bristol to fall back on. This is another reason I still refute that Bristol is Trigs mother. Sarah knew the Bristol rumors existed as early as Feb. She announced in March. If Bristol did not get pregnant with Tripp, what would have ensued?
Who will be next to sign this, after Bachmann? Perhaps Tim Pawlenty. He'll do anything. Then again, he does love him some Muslim Mortgages, which would be banned under "The Marriage Vow."
ReplyDeleteAnd while most spouses shouldn't be forced to sign the pledge, maybe there should be an exception for Marcus "Mr. Michele" Bachmann? Just in case he has any, you know... tendencies?

"Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African American baby born after the election of the USA‟s first African-American President."
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely stunned at the inclusion of this spiteful, racist and crassly exploitative quote in the pledge Bachmann signed. Not only does it imply a relationship between President Obama's election and the statistical prevalence of African-American children being raised in single parent homes, but, more importantly, it ignores the factual reality that AA slaves and their children were the property of their "masters," and AA slaves and their children were OFTEN separated and SOLD!!! Many never saw their children (or parents) ever again!
Simply put, the writers of the pledge have the cause and effect paradigm backwards: the black community's family social problems didn't originate primarily because children are not being brought up in a two-parent household (although that exacerbates the social problems), but rather white society's attitudes toward blacks over the last century have resulted in the social problems which propagated the disarray of the modern black family unit. Why do the pledge makers have it backwards? ... because it serves their racist agendas and preconceived notions about black social problems.
Stunningly ignorant, disgustingly exploitative, and overtly racist on the part of Bachmann and the pledge writers!! This pledge should be roundly condemned.
Why did she marry a Gay man??
ReplyDelete(not that there is anything wrong with being Gay)
Maybe Michele and her husband are both gay.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that Bachmann is pandering to the right wing. She probably didn't even think of Sarah.
ReplyDeleteI think they left out the kitchen sink in that list of crazy.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading this, please join me in wishing that karmic retribution bites batshit crazy Bachmann and the rest f these racist idiots REAL hard.
Is it any wonder when THIS is her "man of God?"

I absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteThese morons are relegating themselves to complete and total irrelevance. They have their fringe followers, to be sure, but that ain't going to get the GOP to the White House.
Any normal person, Dem or Republican, can tell when people are nuts.
You just gotta love the GOP and their stupidity. They did this to themselves. They wanted more seats in Congress, and they way the got them was to allow these maniacs into their little club.
Now the lunatics are running the asylum.
They will lose in '12 if the Tea Baggers keep this stuff up.
Love it, love it, love it.
Slave children two parent household what? You lie, slave children were likely to be sold away to other plantations, they were likely to have one or more parent sold away as well. They were chattel and everyone knows it. In the likely hood their father was a "master" or "overseerer" it meant very little to your well being. You lie so much that there is a special place in hell for you and your like.
ReplyDeleteExactly how much of the countries history do you wish to not learn and rewrite? How much more elitist and racist, can you get? Do you take lessons or does it come naturally?
Holy crap!! Looks like Missy Michelle may just have herself a Preacher Problem.

Bachman Supports Bradlee's Hate Campaign!!!!!
Totally O/T, but my daughter is currently in South Sudan witnessing the birth of a nation. Amazing experience. Palin too chicken to go.

Marriage Pledge Says Unwed Slaves Preferable Parents For African-Americans
ReplyDeleteIn footnote 8(1) of the pledge, The FAMiLY LEADER notes their “never disproven” belief that the health and well-being of children is “best upheld” through “legal marriage, especially faithful monogamy, as between only one man and one woman.”
Essentially, The FAMiLY LEADER has used its marriage pledge to suggest an exception for African-American children — that not only were they better off born into slavery, they were also better off having unwed parents.
Since the pledge was released yesterday, GOP presidential hopefuls Rep. Michele Bachmann (MN) and former Sen. Rick Santorum (PA) are the only two candidates to have signed it.

I wish the “mainstream media” would report more on the actual mainstream. Current media is obsessed with crisis, conflict and controversy over all else, so these freakin’ nut jobs keep getting way more than their share of attention. The rest of us, just trying to go about our lives doing the best we can without inflicting our judgment and values on everyone else are just too boring I guess. Not to say we shouldn’t keep our eyes on what the fundies and their ilk are up to, but they are NOT mainstream America.
ReplyDeleteGeeze Sarah -
ReplyDeleteThese guys have put all your bat shit talking points in a PLEDGE no less!!
And I know it's gotta rub that you didn't think of this first.
So Sarah... what say you? Ya in or out? Gauntlet has been thrown in your direction Sista!
Oooh the dilemma!
Article VI, paragraph 3, and states that:
ReplyDelete"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."
Bachmann, et al, are merely pretending that this is not a 'test' for office and that its purpose is not a religious one, but it IS a 'test' for office and its purpose IS a religious one, on its face, pure and simple.
If anyone with standing decides to contest it, it could be tossed out by a federal court. In the meantime, it will make the repugs look all the more buffoonish, and provide full employment for comedians everywhere. I suggest the obvious: the more they parade and charade, the more there is to hide.
She has also pledged to ban "all forms of pornography".
ReplyDeleteNow who will decide just what qualifies as "pornography"?
Marcus, her campaign advisor?
Ya, right.
The theocrats are coming! The theocrats are coming! Look out!
ReplyDeleteTheir crap is a malignancy that just keeps growing. If it keeps on the entire nation is going to be cancerous with it. When that happens, it will take drastic measures to get rid of it.
They hate women (except for breeding), they hate gays, they hate anyone or anything that is not just like them. Their "vision" of this nation is dangerous to democracy.
Bachmann is certifiable. The bull she has sprayed out her mouth over the years would fill 3 or 4 boxcars. Hopefully she will implode soon, and we will be done having to think about her.
Another step towards the goal of a perverted Dominionist Theocracy.
ReplyDeleteI'm continually amazed at how twisted the ultra-religious conservative viewpoint has become.
Any candidate who signs that bunch of tripe is an idiot and is pandering to the worst of their base.
Religion has no place in government.
All I have to say is both Bachmann and Palin are Racist Bitches!!
ReplyDelete"sharia polygamy," huh?
ReplyDeleteMormon polygamy is OK?
I emailed Politicus and they aren't down. He said the new version of wordpress came out yesterday and they had some kind of technical problem.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1:59:
ReplyDeleteHuh????????
These stupid pledges (remember the Contract with/on America) are a danger to the republic.
ReplyDeleteMy partner and I predict that the next 30 years in America will be referred to as the "Dark Ages"; the age before enlightenment. I fear that the Fundies are going to get their claws deep into America, but in time, they will be but a footnote. In the meantime, it isn't going to be pretty for liberal Americans.
ReplyDeleteChris Matthews played another tape of Bachmann saying that as the economy tanks and people lose jobs, that's good for her chances of being election. What great American spirit!
ReplyDeleteThe enemy of my enemy is my friend. So, I am going with Bachmann until I am good and sure that the Queen is just a memory. Bachmann is proving very sucessful in taking the attention away from Sarah.
ReplyDeleteOnce the Queen has departed the national stage, I'll worry about crazy Michele. I can only take one crazy lady at a time.
Tee Hee, I for one am shocked, shocked, I tell you that the Bachmanns are found to be grifting the government. http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2011/07/08/264546/breaking-undercover-investigation-confirms-bachmann-clinic-provides-discredited-damaging-ex-gay-therapy/

I can't count on all my fingers and toes how many married men over the years I've known who have a fuck-buddy in the closet or who enjoy oral sex with another man.
It's just human nature; we're all wired differently. The human psyche is a very intricate thing, and there is NOT a rule book that says that just because a man is married he could not possibly enjoy gay sex also. Many do, and I respect that so long as they are mature adults.
The same goes for married women! Now is that a shocker, or what?

This racist, homophobic, bigoted piece of shit pledge is only worth the paper its printed on. Very telling that "frothy" Rick Santorum and "crazy eyes" Bachmann are the only two far right bible thumping loons so far who have signed this. . . . .
ReplyDeleteOf course tick tock for the rest of the GOP. . .
They are only getting crazier.
As others have pointed out here, babies born to slaves were the property of the mother's owner.
ReplyDeleteSlaves did marry, but it didn't really mean anything since married couples could be separated at any time and the husband or wife sold.
Oh, that's rich! The Tea Baggers are going to be falling all over Bachmann now that she committed herself to such a pledge. She might as well go home now, her campaign is finished.
ReplyDeleteIt's laughable that these hard core evangelicals are so worked up about Saria Law when the first thing they would do if they gained enough power is institute their own version of theocratic rule.
ReplyDeleteAnon@ 12:55pm
ReplyDeleteArkansas already has a covenant marriage law.
In 2001, Huckabee signed into law an option for couples to enter into covenant marriages, which can be ended only after counseling and only on certain grounds — adultery, criminal activity, physical or sexual abuse or a two-year separation.
Do you see where it says option?
That is because there is no way the law would stick if it wasn't an option.
I wouldn't worry to much about covenant marriage becoming the law of the land.
What wacked out verbiage? Do they not realize the improtance of immigration, assimilation, and not tolerance (that term is patently offensive, it implies something is wrong with someone else that just has to be "tolerated"- until they're saved or changed) I prefer the term "acceptance"
ReplyDeleteBut that's all lost in this pledge, and the GOP in general. They want to keep their "heritage" intact, as was mentioned in an earlier post here.
I just can't see Palin signing this, it would open her to more scrutiny and not garner attention enough to satisfy her. And it would prove the NE report of marital problems- and we all know her dilemma.
Sigh, What's a Sociopath have to do to get attention? Push up inflatable boobs, epic movie, ha ha ha ha ... they got baby in the corner.
Santorum has his crayon ready, this is more his mojo.
I have a sad, ironic, true, CHRISTIAN, almost funny, story to tell.
ReplyDeleteThere once was a CHRISTIAN woman who had a CHRISTIAN husband and 2 CHRISTIAN kids. The husband was a holy man who sang holy songs in a holy CHRISTIAN singing group along with running an insurance business. This family lived in Small Town Midwest and became the living example of the rural and small town conservative family and how everyone else should aspire to live.
The CHRISTIAN woman decided to run for the state legislature so she could bring CHRISTIAN conservative values to that heathen government in State Capitol. She got elected because she was a paragon of the good CHRISTIAN woman whose CHRISTIAN husband was singing holy music (and selling insurance).
One of the great ideas this CHRISTIAN woman put forth in the legislature is the Marriage Covenant. Apparently, marriage vows spoken at a wedding between two people before God in a church and witnessed by all their family and friends aren’t enough for CHRISTIANS. There must be a law in place to force people who have taken wedding vows to stay in their marriage, whatever the circumstance. Husband beats wife and kids? Sorry, we got the covenant. Wifey takes off with another man, woman, other? Nope, covenant. Get the picture?
Fortunately, at that time in the State of the Midwest, wiser heads prevailed and the marriage covenant idea went nowhere. Bitter disappointment, but maybe another shot at it another time.
A few years after the covenant idea was squashed, the CHRISTIAN legislator became sick with a wasting, incurable illness. She decided not to run for her legislative position again to concentrate on her health and her family. So she came home to Small Town, Midwest to spend her days with her holy man husband who sang CHRISTIAN music.
But our God is a god of irony and maybe even humor.
Holy Christian music singing husband decided he didn’t want to be married to increasingly sick with wasting fatal illness former legislator and be forced to care for her over what surely would be many, many years of her disease. She was a relatively young woman and God knows how long she would need care and assistance. Did the CHRISTIAN woman have a premonition that marriage vows (for better or for worse, in sickness and in health) wouldn’t be enough, and the Marriage Covenant would be required at some point in her future?
Holy Christian music singing insurance selling husband divorced CHRISTIAN woman and instead of living happily ever after, not caring for his doomed, now ex-wife, he became ill with fast moving deadly cancer of some sort and after apparently shacking up with small town sympathetic floozie, he died with said floozie by his side. So now, former Marriage Covenant pushing legislator CHRISTIAN woman lives alone in an assisted living facility in Small Town, Midwest.
You can’t make this shit up. And this is why, try as I might, I just can’t take the final step and call myself an atheist. Too much evidence here that God thinks these fundies are fucked up is making them eat their shit.
At first I was horrified that they were blaming Obama for the high incidence of unwed African American mothers. Then it got even worse. They go on to pretend they think the persecution of gays is a bad thing. I could rant on but I'm typing on my phone.
ReplyDeleteSharia polygamy is bad but what, Mormon polygamy might be OK?
ReplyDeleteThe human mortality study isn't even a U.S. study, it's Canadian.
ReplyDelete"I, for one, could use an extra husband to get some work done on the house."
ReplyDeleteI have long thought that this is a great solution, at least for those living a country life. There is always so much heavy work to be done! The kind of work that a man could really use another man to get done. Seems ideal. The guys could have a great time together and get a lot of work done.
Here's hoping Bachmann does something big on the 15th to snatch headlines from Sarah
ReplyDeleteReading about LBJ reminded me of Social Security and Medicare that he signed into law. We forgot what life was like before Social Security and Medicare. Life expectancy was a lot lower, old folks and disabled rarely had access to decent care, infant mortality was a major problem, and what he signed into law, ironically, is what the GOP intends to obliterate. LBJ made history, today's GOP doesn't get that. LBJ would vote for Obama's plan if he were alive today.
ReplyDeleteThis just in.....
ReplyDeleteBetty Ford has passed away at the age of 93. She was one gutsy lady, ahead of her time, and socially conscious. Shame she'll probably be remembered only for the clinic that bears her name, but she was a woman of substance who really showed compassion for others.
That's the GOP my folks remember, just look at them now! Pathetic whiners who only care about the rich (The GOP, not my folks)
Let's see, her founding fathers tried to end slavery, slaves were better off under white man rule and her husband may know rove. Yep michele marriage is scared; It is between a man ~wink, wink~ and a woman. Who is zooming who?
ReplyDeleteNow tell us michele, how Africans enjoyed being castrated, raped and/or killed under racist assholes again, I missed that in my history classes or during Black History Month. Tell us again miss ann.
I'll tell ya she has her own brand of stupid, it's different than palin's stupid.

Bachmann won't have to. The new (and final) Harry Potter comes out that day. I could be wrong, but I think it is likely that the lines for the HP movie will be longer than the lines for The Unbelievable.
I wonder if Bachy Bitch also thinks women would "have it better" back in the dark ages of biblical history when they were no more important than any other livestock or property? OOooppps We never really let that era did we? At least not completely!
ReplyDelete--------------------------------
That does it! I'm starting my own Polyandry* religion and setting up a c-pac to run for prez. My campaign will be based on women being entitled to totally be heads of households and to have 4 husbands.
My campaign slogan will be;
"One for the money,
Two for the show,
Three to get ready and
Four to go!"
A very efficient plan for the entire family, for if one hubby has to be away in the military there will be three left to take care of matters at home. All the "honey-do" jobs would get done including the "personal" needs.
There will be enough paychecks being earned for the whole family to live well without the women having to work inside or outside of the home.
Let's face it people, 6,000+ years of patriarchy has shown itself to be an absolute failure at just about everything it touches. The reality is, that males are just not equipped to handle money or the power it buys, much less more than one woman at a time. (without a big jar of VIAGRA or something similar.)
Guys cannot seem to control a three inch flaccid floppy appendage yet think that the wee weenie makes them superior in some way to women and entitles them to be in charge the whole world and everything in it including the right to dominate and control all females, everything they do and especially their reproductive parts.
Come on ladies, give it a try! What have you got to lose that the Repuglicans and religionists have not already stripped you of or have it in the works to strip you of in the near future?
Who will be the first to "COME ON DOWN" and get baptised in the water of truth and regain your rightful place in the power structure (AT THE TOP!)???
*Miriam Webster, Definition of POLYANDRY:
the state or practice of having more than one husband or male mate at one time.
What slavery has to do with a marraige covenant is beyond me. If the white anglo-saxon people who wrote this dribble knew history, they would know that slaves weren't allowed to marry and that they and their children were owned by the master who regularly sold young "healthy" males to the highest bidder, constantly raped and impregnated the female slaves, disowned any children born to those slaves, cheated on his wife with the slaves, beat the slaves and the children, and broke up otherwise, cohesive families if left in their native lands. As an African-American, lesbian woman, I am insulted that these people who have no idea of the suffering and destruction of the black family that took place under slavery, use the suggestion that slavery is a reason for marraige and that we were better off as slaves. How racist can you get? This is the same BS information handed down from slave owners and that whites used for years. To use this as the first bullet point in a document professing to protect the sanctity of marraige is beyond belief. Ms Bachmann has just signed her candidacy's death warrant (I'm not implying real death, just that as a candidate, she is done).
