More damning reviews for Sarah Palin's "triumphant" revisionist film. Are Sarah and Bristol competing to have their name attached to the bigger failure?

Here is movie critic Roger Moore's take on this polished turd:

But everything in “The Undefeated” is loaded, from its choice of endorsements to the choice of extreme voices in those rare moments when she is criticized. An opening three minute barrage of bile lumps everyone who found her lacking into the same pile as profane anonymous Internet commenters, shock jocks and gadfly comedian Bill Maher. There’s Sharon Osborne. But where are the credible critics who questioned her qualifications?

Her political allies sing her praises and do most of her burnishing for her – “Sarah stands for this” and “She’s a rock star” and “She’s an existential threat to the left.” But about these “endorsements – They aren’t spontaneous question-and-answer sessions with a wide assortment of critics and colleagues. They are mostly Alaska acolytes who appear to be performing their testimonials carefully staged and edited monologues directly to the camera. Thus, “The Undefeated” plays like an infomercial.

The film rightly gives Palin much of the credit for the Tea Party movement she opportunistically leapt onto in 2010. We see her pointing the finger at ethically challenged Alaska Republicans. But we don’t see Palin “standing with” the disgraced Senator Ted Stevens, just like any other party hack. The film misstates her popularity in Alaska and misleadingly twists energy data to convince us that what she did to push more drilling in Alaska is actually America’s energy independence solution.

And while there’s plenty of inspirational Tea Party footage scored with music to make you moist-eyed, there’s nothing about that group’s more controversial elements — the intolerance, conspiracy-mongering, the anti-intellectualism tinged with violent rhetoric.

There’s also no mention of Palin’s burgeoning media career — from “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” to her many connections to Fox News and the controversial commentator Glenn Beck. This is a far more credible reason for her quitting her governor’s job — cashing in. Afraid of how that looks?

Ouch!  Now Moore is one of the people that director Bannon identified as his key demographic, those who had opinions of Sarah Palin based on rumors and the skewed view of her provided by the "Lamestream" media.  Well after Moore has seen the film he appears to be even more convinced of her lack of fitness for political office, and finds her depiction in the movie to have carefully avoided topics that would  have revealed a truth about the film's subject that the creators desperately did not want their audiences to learn.?

However THAT review was a big sloppy kiss compared to what the Hollywood Reporter had to say about it.

A documentary stitched together with a thousand sound bites, this entirely partisan account of the phenomenon that is Sarah Palin looks like a campaign film for a campaign that at least for the moment isn't happening. Puzzlingly titled The Undefeated in that its heroine lost the last election in which she ran and subsequently stepped down from her job as governor of Alaska before her term was up, this narrowly conceived valentine calls upon a vast chorus of coworkers, friends and admirers to numbingly defend everything she's ever said or done and to champion her as a maverick politician with a real connection to the people. Set to begin theatrical runs next week in select houses nationwide, this will attract media attention in the way that anything to do with Palin invariably does (all the more so because it's favorable), but nothing about the film earmarks it as a must-see anywhere other than in the living rooms of die-hard loyalists.

Just makes you want to throw the kids into the mini-van and dash off to your local AMC theater to learn ALL about Klondike Kardashian doesn't it?

No? Well then unlike the paint chip eaters who still clamor for a Sarah Palin campaign for President, your gray matter seems to be in fine working order.

So exactly what kind of person is REALLY determined to see this horrible movie? Hmm I think Vanity Fair contributing editor James Wolcott might just have an answer to that question.

Andrew Breitbart, the angry-faced entrepreneur who likes to inflict himself upon press conferences, has announced that he has already seen the new Sarah Palin documentary The Undefeated three times.

It's a free country, and what Andrew Breitbart masturbates to is none of my concern.

Some people prefer Japanese hentai porn, others have squirreled away Traci Lords bootleg cassettes inside a basement vault in case of nuclear war.

I say: It's your thing, do watcha wanna do.

I wouldn't presume to tell you who to sock it to.

Ahh, yes that seems to be the most accurate label that I have seen for this film. It is in fact conservative political porn.

Which I guess would possibly explain why Palin showed up to the premiere in Iowa looking like a haggard, used up old porn star.

Complete with too much make up, a helmet of over teased hair, and a peek-a-boo blouse.

Jenna Jameson could hardly have done it better.

Andrew Breitbart, the angry-faced entrepreneur who likes to inflict himself upon press conferences, has announced that he has already seen the new Sarah Palin documentary The Undefeated three times.

But I do object to porn coated in sanctimony, which is endemic in the very nature of Sarah Palin political prick-tease. The trailer for example features a furious elf raging about the liberal media and intelligensia who turns out to be radio host Mark Levin, whose preachy manner has no place in adult erotica.

Now it's true I haven't personally "screened" The Undefeated, this R-rated indie remake of the 1969 John Wayne-Rock Hudson Western, and perhaps Sarah Palin flourishes in it, the beauty of her untamed hair mingling with the auburn-gray of battle smoke as a Star of David and a crucifix bounce between her cleavage, depending on the day the action takes place.

Though frankly I think she would have been better advised to take the Maureen O'Hara role in McLintock!, with Fred Thompson assaying the part of the rollicking patriarchal land baron played by the Duke.

Instead, she decided to play it safe, lending her imprimatur to a movie that appeals solely to her base, much as Elvis did when he made It Happened at the World's Fair.

Well, let her fans attend the film next week and wank away, it can't do any harm. Unless it lifts their naive hopes that Palin might run for the presidency, which can only lead to yet more disappointment. Her political career is over, except as a kibitzer.

I'm sorry, but that's the harsh truth. Dry your tears, dry your lap, and get on with your desperate lives.

That's how Ronald Reagan would have wanted it.

Just when you think she's winding down . . . Meet the Press just showed the cover of the July 18 edition of Newsweek. Sarah Palin says, "I can win." This is never going to end.

I don't think she looks like a porn star at all. She does look old, though. And she looks like someone with Executive Function Disorder & Narcissistic Personality Disorder; she can't dress herself appropriately for Iowa summer heat and has no idea how ridiculous she looks to others. "The Undefeated" covers this ground, but airbrushes all wrinkles in the fashion of an old Elizabeth Taylor perfume commercial. Not one word is spoken on-screen about the firing of Alaska's public safety commissioner, or gubernatorial pressure to get him to fire Palin's ex-brother-in-law from his job as a state trooper.

Even reviewer Kyle Smith in the conservative Murdoch-owned New York Post has found "The Undefeated" too adoring, writing: "Its tone is an excruciating combination of bombast and whining. It's so outlandishly partisan that it makes Richard Nixon look like Abraham Lincoln."

The film runs against fact at several turns. A Palin acolyte says on screen: "She never thought about her approval rating and how the public thought of her."

During the 2008 campaign, however, a cash-strapped McCain campaign had to commission a poll in Alaska: The reason was that Palin was paranoid that the presidential race was cutting into her home-state approval figures.

Once you realize the film is just going to be a string of encomiums against a backdrop of frantically edited archival material in which few shots are allowed to stay onscreen longer than three seconds, it's clear that no meaningful analysis of the woman's career or political agenda will be forthcoming. There's nothing about her personal life, international inexperience or interview gaffes, and Palin herself was not interviewed for the film, although a few excerpts are used from her audio recording of her book Going Rogue: An American Life.

However, if one attempts to discern any underlying intent on Bannon's part, it would seem to be to position Palin so outside of the GOP mainstream as to suggest that her future might not even lie within it. Friendly commentators note how she seriously pissed off Alaskan Republicans by taking on the big oil/legislative fat cat constituency known as the “Corrupt Bastards Club” and “blew the whistle on her own party;” that her hero is the Jimmy Stewart character in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington; how she herself maintains she is “not a member of the permanent political establishment” and that she could represent a thorn in the side of mainstream Republicans just as much as she poses “an existential threat to the left.”

One wonders if Bannon made The Undefeated in the full expectation that Palin would compete for the 2012 presidential nomination, whereas the suspicion now is that the still-youthful politician, sensing unfavorable odds against defeating an incumbent president, may already have decided to sit it out until 2016. That would give other documakers plenty of time to cook up new and, one would hope, far more revealing films about Sarah Palin, pro and con.

"And as such, it’s an infomercial of almost comical omissions. Here’s what ISN’T in “The Undefeated” — Palin’s many many gaffes on the campaign trail in 2008, gaffes which continue today, her deer in the headlights moments during debates, her disastrous Katie Couric interview and her cash-in-quick reality TV soap opera family. The movie skims over the reasons she quit her governor’s job just as the going got really tough and glosses over the flood of ethic’s complaints that dogged her. There is no “Bridge to Nowhere.” You leave out that stuff and it casts doubt on what you’ve chosen to include and how you slanted that — her Alaskan record."

She hasn't been on Fox news for a while...I would think they'd want to talk to her about her upcoming--ahem--"film". (Palinbots mass email Fox news demanding a Palin appearance in 3,2,1...)

By the way, I think the reason she hasn't announced she's running is because she appealed to Donald Trump to fund her campaign wardrobe costs, and he refused. Because we all know she will need 750,000 for her tarty get-ups, spa treatments, hair and make up. And that's not counting the designer garb for her three girls and Tawd.

"A documentary stitched together with a thousand sound bites, this entirely partisan account of the phenomenon that is Sarah Palin looks like a campaign film for a campaign that at least for the moment isn't happening."

This quote makes me wonder why the film was made in the first place. 1. Do the people behind Sarah really think that she is going to be a great candidate? She helped lose the election for McCain.
    2. She hasn't learned anything since she quit her job as governor.
    3. While she proved that she can still attract a crowd of curious onlookers and an unquestioning media, there's no there there. 4.When we see the polls ranking Romney, Bachmann and others, Palin isn't even on the radar.
    5. Other than her small group of devoted followers, she does not appeal to a wide enough electorate.
    6. Sarah hasn't been on Fox for a month. Does that mean anything?
    7. When Fox was installing Sarah's TV studio, did they also install some secret microphones to eavesdrop on her? Maybe the Big Boys have stuff on Palin, and that's how they keep her in line?
    8. What am I saying, they can't keep her in line. She insisted on explaining cross hairs and blood libel. That bus trip was a joke.
    9. I think that even the media has gotten tired of asking Sarah if she's going to run or not.
    10. Sarah, please go over to the next book store and help Bristol. Her numbers are dropping, and that scarf is choking her.

I guess the title says it all. Every time you see the word "undefeated" you remember that she LOST in 2008. That's being defeated.

She also quit her job as governor two years ago, rather than face things when the going got tough. That's quitting, and that's also being defeated.

Has anyone made the connection with palins interview with charles gibson where she says, when she was asked to be john mccains running mate that she did not blink? well, why is she blinking now when asked if she running for president? Her immediate answer should have been, "yes I am" without blinking for months telling eceryone she doesnt know if shes running. Sound like blinking to me. My opinion is that she is not running. And the excuse she will give is that , months ago she gave herself an out by saying, if know one else run that gets her approval, then she would get in. well, i believe she will say michelle bachman is in therefore she doesnt have to. Watch and see.

She coulda been a contender if she had just gone back to Alaska and knuckled down and did some real work as governor. She could have been re-elected governor (I know, that's a stretch) and had more credibility, but she chose the easier route followed by reality show stars like Snookie and the Kardashians. Anon @ 7:25, as much as I can't stomach it, those of us who want to give Obama 4 more years to get us back on track again should be very glad she isn't going away. Let the MSM keep attempting to legitimize her for their own craven commercial purposes. Just having her in the conversation boosts their profits.

Barack Obama will mop the floor with her. Just let her try to pretend to be his equal. Just let her try.

I wish she would go away, too, but she is a demagogue and they do not give up easily.

We can survive her, we can get through this. Just keep the Tums handy.

There will be the slow drip, drip of her problems, and we can always count on her to f*%# up everything she does. She cannot beat Barack Obama herself, and she can only dilute her party's ability to try with someone else.

    Necessary evil for now, perhaps.

It really speaks to the mentality of her followers that anyone could take this movie as anything BUT a parody.

On Newsweek's cover, a busty Sarah Palin says that she can win. I think that she is going to have to announce that she's a candidate. Then, she is going to need some kind of campaign staff. She might also have to hire back her old speech writer/spokesperson/ghost writer or find a new one. Other than show a movie in Iowa, Sarah has not really been campaigning. She is no where to be found in those straw polls of likely candidates. Bristol's book and reality TV show and Sarah's trademarked name make her look more like a celebrity than a candidate.

What does Sarah have to do to keep on getting attention? Once that she announces that she is running, she might have to show up on a Sunday morning political talk show that isn't on Fox. She might have to give real interviews. She also won't be able to spend SarahPAC money so lavishly. In fact, she will have to make an accounting of her PAC. This time people really do want to see Trig's birth certificate and her medical records proving that she gave birth to him. She has had three years for someone to photo shop that stuff. If Sarah couldn't take a little criticism about her movie or laugh off a late night joke, she cannot run for president with that thin skin.

  37. Anonymous9:50 AM

Off topic, but I just watched Bristol's interview on The View. One thing that is noteworthy: 1) Tripp is huge! I would believe he is a 3-1/2 year old, not 2-1/2. Look at the picture of Levi, Bristol and Tripp on the large screen in the interview - Tripp is huge in that picture too (forget the name of the magazine shoot)and he was passed off as 1-1/2 then. Maybe they give him a pacifier so he doesn't speak in public and sound like the 3-1/2 year old that I believe he actually is.

One other thing, did you catch Sherri saying that Bristol "grew" on Dancing With the Stars" - was she letting the audience know something she knows?

My hope is that someone very knowledgeable about her real career go and see it with a paper pad and pen and then list every single lie in the movie. Andrew Halcro would be a good candidate that. Remember his videos where he read Sarahs book sitting by a fireplace dressed up as an effete young gentleman? Another good choice is Mudflata only she is known as a critic. Maybe Jesse you can get a group of well known Republicans to carefully and clearly list all the LIES in the film and then publish it on the Internet and in newspapers. Her stock on intrade for the gop nomination dropped 11% today. Since the bus tour it has dropped 50%. The more exposure she gets the less popular she becomes. After this movie opens she will be downgraded to fractions of a percent.

This has to worry the Obama people.

Sarah Palin is like one of those old beat up boxers who shows up at your neighborhood Wal-Mart or Costco parking lots looking to fight for their next meal. Sarah is not even a contender anymore LOL.

LOL Sarah was never a contender or even a has been. Sarah was just John McCain's One Night Wonder grifting for handouts.

THROW IN THE TOWEL TAWD, YOUR BITCH HAS SEEN HER LAST FIGHT.

(Can I get a shout out for my last sentence? It was funny, you know it is. Oh well I enjoyed it... Peace!)

    That's pretty funny.

Bristol and Sarah are competing for the biggest failures.

They are both royal screw ups... I tried to be civil, I could of said, "They are both royal fuck ups"...

WTF, I might as well go with the second one. Why try to sugar coat it?

Wow, that Newsweek cover! In that gray shirt, she looks like someone who would show up in an old pickup truck answering an ad for a free couch.

That photo from Newsweek is horrid. She looks so hard, and kind of trannyish. When she first came on the scene she had a fresh look about her, but she gets more and more masculine looking as she ages.

Just received these touching stories from a Canadian friend when the Duke and Duchess were there.

This is about a young girl who presented flowers to the Duchess upon their arrival in Calgary. She has cancer and her wish was to meet a Princess! Children's Miracle Network arranged for this! The two links - one is the video, the other is the print story.

The story is about an 81 year old lady who presented the flowers to the Duchess as they were departing Canada. She was to present flowers to Queen Elizabeth 72 years ago but didn't get the chance. The train was to stop in her town -- but didn't.

    Sarah Palin running for president?

That's like Pee Wee Herman running for president.

Pee Wee has a better shot at it than Sarah.

One the ears, you're right, thy look weird, kinda elflike or something, can't quite put my finger on it. Also they seem to look sorta sweaty too, especially in this pic - Q-Tips Sarah, use them!

@Curiouser I take the criticism of $arah's clothing to be due to her presidential aspirations. When Hillary dared to show cleavage, albeit a minimal amount, the media jumped all over it. However, Palin does not in any way represent how a serious professional woman dresses, from the CFM pumps to the ridiculous hair. She dresses to attract attention and nothing more. Obviously, the stylist and all the money paid to her during the 2008 convention was a complete waste of time and money.

Harold Simmons, via his ContranPAC, gave SarahPAC $5000 early on. Simmons was a big bankroller for Swift Boat Veterans for Truthers. Its all connected, has been connected, since day one.

And its my understanding that SarahPAC approached Victory Film Group to make a video about Sarah, and The Undefeated is what resulted.

This is a lot like the "I had nothing to do with it" silliness regarding the Alaska Fund Trust.

Generally speaking, when the pop up timer jumps up, the turkey's done. Put a fork in it. The analogy to porn is so very fitting, considering the type of men (eg Palinman", Andrew Breitbart, and the asshat that got her signature tattooed onto his back, and of course John McCain, Republican who lost his campaign)

Have you tried looking less than a mile away from the Palin house in Wasilla? Say, maybe, a wooded area right off the road. ha ha
