"The Undefeated," a glowing look at failed vice-presidential candidate and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has already sold out a show in Grapevine, Texas (population 46,000), according to the distributor Cinedigm.
Grapevine isn't exactly a teeming metropolis but the film is set to roll out across Tea Party country in 10 AMC theaters.
In addition to Grapevine, the documentary by conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon will expand to Indianapolis, Ind.; Independence, Mo.; Kennesaw, Ga.; Houston, Texas; Orlando, Fla.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Orange, Calif.
The film opens tomorrow if anybody is looking for an accidental comedy, an opportunity to be surrounded by assholes, or a cure for insomnia.
Currently the website Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 0%, which means that of the eight people who have seen this cinematic beatification of Sarah Palin, ALL of them gave it a "rotten" rating, but ONLY because that is the lowest rating available on the website.
Below is a screenshot featuring the professional film critics who were subjected to this celluloid abortion because their jobs demanded it of them. I figured their opinion of the movie was worth noting.
I captured this screenshot because, as we all know, the minute this post goes up Rotten Tomatoes will be inundated with positive reviews of this "film" by Palin-bots, the majority of who have not yet even seen the movie.
As revealed in Frank Bailey's book, THAT is how Palin and her supporters handle bad, or negative, press, by hijacking the polls or attacking the critics, or both.
Still I am more than positive that nothing they can do will save this clunker from joining films like "Ishtar," "Battlefield Earth," and "Freddy got Fingered" as one of the worst films of all time.
Since we are on the topic of Palin failings, I should also inform you that all of that talk by her sycophants of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" possibly earning an Emmy turned out to be bullshit as well:
Outstanding Reality Show
The Amazing Race
American Idol
Dancing With the Stars
Project Runway
So You Think You Can Dance
Top Chef
However as kind of a booby prize it looks like Bristol's complete lack of rhythm, poor work ethic, and bizarre weight gain did not keep DWTS from getting nominated. So that should make the Grizzled Mama feel better right?
Ah, who are we kidding? That bitch only cares about one person, and that person is HER!
I am sure she did not get a nomination because those hollywood elites are just jealous of her.
ReplyDeleteI heard they gave free tickets and bussed people. Also there are some big churches here and many of the religious grifters like Benny Hinn,Copeland. This is all manufactured hype. This theatre is in a big outlet mall that always have crowds.Nice try Sarah!
ReplyDeleteOT - but caught Bristol Palin on Leno this week. I threw up in my mouth a little.
ReplyDeleteDon Rickles and Leno couldn't have been nicer. She promoted her new show. She talked about her jaw surgery "it's not an implant".

Sarah Palin Movie Debuts to Empty Theater in Orange County
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
Its only showing on one screen, about 5 times. It's a suburb outside of Dallas and I'm quite sure the sales were bulk sales from local tea party groups. No one who pays attention believes this film is anything more than an ad. I haven't even heard 1 single person mention it and I liver here. If I didn't have to work I would probably go to see reactions.
ReplyDeleteGrapevine, TX is in fairly close proximity to Dallas. It's not exactly the sticks. However, it's fairly conservative. By the looks of the distribution, with the exception of Houston, all of those towns are conservative. It's preaching to the choir. Flattering but not developing new followers.
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA HA HA. All that propaganda and nobody came to see the purdiest Republican and her boobs:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
Grapevine, Texas is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Just north of the DFW airport. The theater showing the film is located at the area's outlet mall.
ReplyDeleteSorry, no surprise here that it's sold out. However, it would be a great gauge of the movie's success by how it stays.
I give it a week.
I used to live near Grapevine. They have a huge cinema-plex there in the outlet mall, with each individual theatre only seating about half what the normal size would be. Anyway, it's TX and some people still like her there, including all my elderly aunts who think she is "spunky." lol
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Grapevine, Texas.
ReplyDeleteWay to go bots! Begging people to buy tickets to this clunker worked. Now there are people in Texas walking around with their eyes and ears bleeding . . .
Bwa. Ha. Ha.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
Grapevine, Texas - home of the Gaylord Texan Resort. Republican Governor's Convention. Leaking water, wild ride, etc. You can get a good Dr. Pepper there with real sugar in a glass bottle.
ReplyDeleteThis is a MUST read about a showing of "The Undefeated" in California....excuse me, I can't stop laughing.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
Grapevine is a 'burb of Dallas, obviously where the conservatives live. You notice they did not show the film in Dallas which, oh by the way, has turned blue! Besides, when you have paint chippers buying 7 to 10 tickets, wouldn't take to many to have a "sell out". She is on the way down, down, down and I love it! How do you like her Pac getting somewhere around 1.5M this year, and Obama just announcing a record breaking $82MM in contributions! Oh, but she thinks she can win????
ReplyDeleteGryph, we only need to have read your blog over the past three years to know how Palin and her supporters operated, not Frank Bailey's book.
ReplyDeleteHi-jack polls and commentaries with positive compliments of the freshman council-member, Mayor, Commissioner, Governor and VP candidate and attack and threaten critics.
Soapydog here -
ReplyDeleteFrom Texas... BEEN to Grapevine. It's larger and richer than you might think, G. And of course... white. It's a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth. But heh -- it IS Texas.

The Grapevine AMC is a multi-plex theater with 30 screening rooms.
ReplyDeleteThe new Harry Potter film is playing on 5 screens and the 7:30pm showing has sold out in two of the five.
Later this month, they will show "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" an Indian comedy. Their enormous venue allows them to gamble on a few "offbeat" films every month.
For the Friday 7/15 opening, they are letting "The Oft-Defeated" have TWO screening rooms.. of the six times the film will be shown today, ONE showing, the 7:10pm showing is "sold out".
After today, "The Oft-Defeated" will be on one screen only. I do not see any other sold out showings..
As an observer of haraSmaeT, I can tell you they have sent out multiple emails begging their members to buy at least $40 worth of tickets each and drag their family and friends to see this "pivotal" film.
Just as Sarah's hijacked Facebook and Twitter to govern her universe, this film will only prove how lucrative a market the extreme right, Christian fundy and conservative market is.
ReplyDeleteBut it will only do well (enough) to keep the likes of snakeoil salesmen / soapbox preacher / quasi-political figures in luxury appointed private buses with accompanying entourage, car rentals and 4-star hotel suites and on the dole.
Nice work if you can get it.
For the first time, I'm embarrassed to say that I live in Indianapolis. I do know people who would be interested in seeing her movie, which I should also be embarrassed about, but I haven't heard of any rushing out to go see it! I can honestly say, I'm not even sure what theater it's playing in!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Grapevine Texas is in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington area - easy access for the 6.5 million people living within an hour's drive.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Grapevine. It's well-known as a bastion exponential Dallas-ism.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Harry Potter is playing.
ReplyDeleteSo the movie has sold out in Grapevine, but will all the ticket holders show up to see it? And once the movie starts, will they stay to watch the whole thing?
ReplyDeleteHey! I've heard of Grapevine. It's a suburb of Ft. Worth and a great town. It's just as infected with Republicans as the rest of Texas (Austin excepted), but it's got a quaint Main St. (miles away from Grapevine Mills Mall where the movie is being shown).
ReplyDeleteIn Orange County, NO ONE showed up for the first showing except a reporter hoping to interview some fans of Sarah. An usher asked him why he wasn't watching "Harry Potter" instead. A bot on the website insists it was a setup...that no one knew the movie was being shown at midnight....poor victim Sarah. Again.
ReplyDeleteUNdefeated opens to EMPTY theatre in Orange County. LMAO
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/otoolefan/status/91855185600708608
Selling out doesn't mean anything, if those seats are filled I'll be surprised.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it's opening at Grapevine Mills, The largest (inside) mall in DFW. <--last I heard.. I've moved away so I'm not 100% on that now. So while no one has actually heard of Grapevine (my first baby was born at Baylor Grapevine :)) The town is small, it's right smack in the middle of DFW. There are a ton of tiny suburbs there.
Not so much in Orange County ~~~~~~ wasn't that near where she gave some $100,000 speech?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
I'm sorry but that is such a disgusting picture of Palin. It's like she has this engorged growth spewing out, because the growth is now so large it can no longer fit inside her mouth.
ReplyDeleteAnd just what does "sells out" in Grapevine mean? Is it 100 tickets sold? 200? 350? Or maybe a packed theater of 75? "Sells out" does not necessarily mean anything.
This is no real surprise considering that Texas is a very conservative state and they pretty much hate Obama. More than likely, Grapevine is one of the more conservative pockets or the movie wouldn't be shown there. It is hard to tell what the magnitude of "sell out" really means until we know how many tickets constitute a sell out.
ReplyDeleteTexas was kinder to Sarah than Orange County was . . .
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
Didn't Perry say that Texas was seceding? What happened with that plan? Oh now I remember, they love their federal dollars way too much.
ReplyDeleteOn a happier note. At least the people in Orange County know how to unanimously flip the Quitter the bird. Her "movie" debuted to an EMPTY theater:
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/sarah-palin-movie-debuts-to-empty-theater-in-orange-county/241983/
Sold out? How many seats does the venue have, and how many tickets had to given away? Remember "You can fool ALL the people some of the time, some of the people ALL of the time, but you can not fool ALL the people ALL of the time" Palin's day is coming quite soon, I hope, when her followers realise what a fraud she is.
ReplyDeleteQuiet frankly, it is kind of funny and/or terrifying when Sarah does try on her big girl pants and address an issue of substance.
ReplyDeleteShe's better at issuing acid judgement on her critics, feigning aw-shucks humility at hard-working Americans that take up her mantle to keep her (undeclared) candidacy credible, and keeping the xenophobic/jingoist talking points alive and well in public discourse.
Sarah, stick to the false narrative that you are just a Servants Heart with no record of service in charitable causes.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/sarah-palin-and-the-debt-limit-debate/2011/07/14/gIQAsSbgEI_blog.html
I looked at the local listings for Palin's “puffamentary” opening today in Houston, Texas. Tickets are available for six days only through Wednesday, July 20.
ReplyDeleteEven though the regional population for Houston now stands at about 6 million, it appears that ONE actual movie screen should be sufficient to handle any local interest in the insipid subject matter of this infomercial.
A review regarding this cinematic ‘puff piece’ written by Roger Moore of the Orlando Sentinel ends with this observation:
"The original film titled 'The Undefeated' was a 1969 John Wayne movie in which Rock Hudson led an exodus of unreconstructed Confederates as they fled south to Mexico rather than accept the government by Yankees in Washington at the end of the Civil War. Considering the audience this 'Undefeated' is pandering to, that's too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence."
No chit, huh?
What is the deal with her and that tongue? Is it just a tic she has or is it calculated to entice men? It's like watching a stripper.
ReplyDeleteWell, Grapevine is smack in the middle of Dallas-Fort Worth, so they did have a population of millions in which to find a small number of schmucks to fill the theater with.
ReplyDeleteFYI:
ReplyDeleteGrapevine, TX is a suburb in the vast area known as the Dallas-Ft. Worth "metroplex" of about 6.6 million people.
Palin Movie Debuts to an Empty Theater
ReplyDeletehttp://dlvr.it/bHtFJ #TPC
I lived in Grapevine for many years. It's a nice suburb of Dallas. The AMC is at Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall (HUGE). It's not surprising she had a good turnout...as I said Grapevine is in the Dallas area and the mall is a popular one. They even have buses that run to that mall from around the state and out of state (i.e. OK, LA, AR). No doubt every religious rightwinger for miles around came to see queen Esther's film.
ReplyDeleteI lived in Grapevine for many years. It's a nice suburb of Dallas/Ft Worth (DFW). The AMC is at Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall (HUGE). It's not surprising she had a good turnout...as I said Grapevine is in the DFW area and the mall is a popular one. ReplyDeleteGryphen,
ReplyDeleteTry "googling!" Grapevine is a suburb of Dallas which is one of the nations largest cities.
Well, if it sold out in Texas, good!! More folks who are expecting more background info of their queen will be sorely disappointed. If film critics said there was nothing new to show about her, it will fizzle. She's a one-dimensional figure. No one is allowed into her other dimensional world because it no doubt has many skeletons in it.
ReplyDeleteIt just dawned on me that there are so many good people out there who value truth. People get tired of the Palin circus that rolls into town that takes advantage of their kindness, takes over their streets and police for a day, then they pack up their tents and go on to the next town to con and grift.
4:03 AM,
ReplyDeleteThat was a joke, right?
Hi Sarah, Welcome Back!
ReplyDeleteQuick question, Where's Trig's birth certificate?
The movie was sold out---but who bought the tickets?
ReplyDeleteSo, the excuse on bad turnouts will be the Harry Potter movie, right? I can see it now, "People flock to theaters for 'Undefeated,' only to find crowds waiting to get in." When people see those crowds they'll turn around and say, "oh it must be sold out!" Oh.... you know it's true, Harry Potter will be the excuse!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping one of us here is able to go to the theatre in Grapevine and see how many bots actually show up for the "sold out" showing. She's such a fraud.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Orange County for their intelligence!
That picture says: "Vote for me and I'll lick your balls."
ReplyDeleteWorks for the 'bots.
OMG - Orange Co. is red, red, red! & no one came???? Bwahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteReuters article seems misleading since only ONE showing of the movie has sold out at 7:10. There are still seats available for every other time. This theater happens to be directly across the street from one of the many mega churches in Texas whose pastor is blessed to own his own private jet. I wonder how many of those sold out tickets were free.
ReplyDeleteOkay- just checked the AMC website for Grapevine today:
ReplyDeleteOnly one theater showing the movie.
Matinee price is $5, all other showings are $10. Transformers is $15 for shows other than matinee.
Not a real money maker, is it :)
I'm hoping the clip the Emmys choose to represent DWTS doesn't have Biscuit in it. (Unless it's the one where she's at her porky peak.)
ReplyDeleteSince "Potter" is playing, maybe "Potty" should dust off her wizzard outfit, just sayin!
ReplyDeleteDesperate times call for desperate measures.
What an epic fail!
Reading the koolaid drinker's comments is a study in deviant behavior.
Grapevine Texas was the site of the Republican Governor's Convention and the beginning of the Wild Ride. It's also home to a Level III NICU and the northern entrance to DFW airport. It's not a huge city, but it hosts a lot of events that draw tons of people. I would love to see if all these people make it out to the movie, or if the seats are mostly empty.
ReplyDeleteI went last night to pick up Harry Potter tickets and there were huge lines and crowds. I wonder if the bots will latch onto the size of these crowds and claim they were there for $arah?
The number of tickets sold is a different figure than the number of people who attend. It could be some rich teabagger with a chubby for Ms. Palin bought out all of the seats. How many people actually attend is the important concept.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time, I'm embarrassed to say that I live in Indianapolis.
ReplyDelete~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hush Yo Mouth!!
You Have Peyton Manning!!!!
A NATIONAL TREASURE!!!!! =)
Peyton makes Everything Okay.
**sigh**
Gag me with a big spoon. Grapevine, Texas is not that far from me. It is part of the Dallas area. I find it sickening that the people here would pay to go see such trash. What a frickin' bunch of morons. I doubt it will last long anyway in any place. Texas has its share of idiots, other places do too. It just makes me ashamed of how stupid, blind and easily misled people are. I always wondered who was the power behind Palin. I know its Rupert Murdoch. I hope an dpray he goes down and hopefully little miss "I faked my pregnancy and almost got away with it" goes right down the drain with Murdoch.
ReplyDeleteHey, I used to live near Grapevine, Texas. I know it well. Just about anywhere in Texas you could find a theater sized load of morons, so it doesn't really surprise me they'd sell out a showing of "The Unintelligent."
ReplyDeleteActually, I bet the folks in Grapevine thought that Palin herself was going to be there. THAT'S why they came to see the film.
I think it's precious that Cinedigm brags about selling out a single showing of "The Unintelligible" at a single theater in the country, as if that were not THE most pathetic attempt at spinning gold from a big steaming pile of shit.
Why, I'll bet they may even break 1,000 tickets sold nationally - if they really hype this turd.
ReplyDeleteSince we are on the topic of Palin failings, I should also inform you that all of that talk by her sycophants of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" possibly earning an Emmy turned out to be bullshit as well:
I think the 'bots just got confused. Palin wasn't up for an Emmy, she was offered a free enema. ;)
Grapevine is a suburb of Dallas, and when they say Houston I am sure they mean Sugarland if they run it inside the loop they will lucky to get a reporter.
ReplyDeleteMy ex-husband and I lived in Texas a short time close to Grapevine in the DFW area. Grapevine is close to 90% white, Bible belt and redneck. There are lots of religious dominionist types with big churches in the area. This is the perfect demographic to find Palin supporters. When I wanted to go to a movie I went to Fort Worth because I hated the movies they played in that area. Texas like Alaska is a mix of good and bad. This was a long time ago it could only have gotten worse in that area. My aunt and Uncle lived in Grapevine, where I found my first cat, Mrs. Kitten hiding under their car from dogs covered in fleas. We lived in Euless which we called Useless. I worked in Irving for the Boy Scouts of America which had just moved from New Jersey answering letters as Pedro the donkey, those Boy Scouts can get really abusive to Pedro when they don‘t get their Boy‘s Life magazines on time.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has heard of Grapevine, Texas many times before ever hearing of Wasilla, I will point out that as a now fully consumed suburb of Dallas it is going to be be fully Republican.
ReplyDeleteSince it was a small rural community when rural Texas went over to the Republicans, its politics haven't changed much.
Grapevine is a suburb of Fort Worth and is centrally located in the Dallas/FW Metroplex. It is actually adjacent to D/FW Airport. Grapevine has a ton of restaurants along with the theater, the Gaylord (where Sarah's labor started and amniotic fluid started leaking) and a Great Wolf Lodge. Lots of traffic.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt many of the purchases were group sales, ie churches. In any case, as it feeds from the entire DFW Metroplex, it would not take too much of an effort to sell out one of the small theaters. No biggie.
ohnoes this dumb movie is going to ruin the reputation of the best little town in the metroplex!
ReplyDeleteI've lived in Grapevine for almost 10 years now. It's decidedly "red" but not as rednecky as a lot of the other burbs. We have running water and stuff.
I'll stop by the AMC theater in question to see if I can get details, but sold out means at least 200 seats there. My guess is that it was a church group, tea party meetup(s), or something.
