Rachel Maddow interviews Bill Moyers on his views concerning the Rupert Murdoch scandal and the state of journalism in America.
This is an interview of one of the giants of American journalism in this country conducted by one of the very best reporters we have working today.
In other words it is MUST see!

Fabulous interview, and great reminder to go to the Guardian every day for news.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great interview.
ReplyDeleteI was hopeful that Rupert's scandal would impact Fox News. Then I read the following...

The best decision MSNBC ever made was to give such a bright woman a show of her own. She is a shining star.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Murdock is the King Maker in this country and can impact elections is far more important than phone hacking. It isn't as salacious as phone hacking, but it is far more dangerous.
ReplyDeleteThe newsroom at the Guardian sounds like the ideal situation for the truth to be revealed in all things.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very telling that since Murdoch bought the Wall Street Journal in 2007, their corporate business reporting has gone down to only 12% of their stories. 12%! That used to be the point of the paper, hence the name Wall St. Journal. Now, it's just a Republican mouthpiece like Fox News.
ReplyDeleteThat's the state of Murdoch "journalism".
What an amazing interview! Rachael Maddow did this country, and journalism, a great service by having him ellaborate on this scandalous excuse for "journalism".
ReplyDeleteBill Moyer's credentials and contributions to our country are a testament to what "the fourth estate" once was.
I had no idea that the Guardian is such a respectable publication and owned by a public trust. Dang. I pretty much assumed that it's just another British tabloid.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda embarrassed that I didn't know how honorable it actually is.
Thanks, Gryph, for running this interview between Bill and Rachel.
Thanks for posting this. For some reason I can no longer view MSNBC videos, my laptop gets stuck on those stupid ads that play before the vid. I suppose it has something to do with my pop up blocker or something, but I have missed my Rachel, so it's nice to be able to get my "fix" occasionally through your blog.
ReplyDeleteI believe this *IS* the biggest story to hit in a very, very long time. Fantastic interview and I too have been reading the Guardian daily now.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Harry Potter premiere with my kids last night. I think Rupert Murdoch is a real life Voldemort and all his employees are Death Eaters. :-)
Agreeed. Moyers makes so many thoughtful statements.
ReplyDeleteRupert and his ilk are ruining journalism. So much is flash and trash. (think Huffington Post over the last year)
Maybe if the Murdoch empire implodes there will be some investment in real writers and real research.
I hate to sound maudlin but I hope that when the elderly Bill Moyers passes on that Rachael will be one of his pall bearers.
