Palin supporters are STILL clinging to the idea that their idol can fundamentally change how a campaign is run and still win the GOP nomination. There is a word for people like this, but if I say it I will be accused of attacking Trig again.

Courtesy of Politicususa:

Greta Van Sustern asked Rove if Palin could run an unconventional campaign. Rove answered, “Her people think so. They’ve talked with people about it, whom I’ve talked to, and they’ve been very explicit about it — that she doesn’t need to go to Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, press the flesh and go to all these local events in order to cultivate the local leadership. She can talk to people over that. She doesn’t need to cultivate the fundraisers and the bundlers, because her mere presence in the race will generate the cash needed for the campaign. She doesn’t need to do things in a normal way to lay out a message. She can do it on Facebook. She can do it by having a friendly producer release a movie that is seen in theaters, and that’s going to be the interesting thing.”

Rove then issued a warning about the Palin strategy, “I frankly think that the people in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, there are some of the niceties that you ignore at your own peril. There is a reason why, these people in the early states take it very seriously, and they expect to see you, be able to hear up close, be able to ask you questions, be able to see you multiple times before they make a commitment, and we’ll see if that old rule remains the same.”

He said that Palin is making it clear that if she runs, she is doing it by her rules. Nobody should be surprised that Sarah Palin wouldn’t want to hit the campaign trail, but the real stunner is that she arrogantly believes that she doesn’t have to fundraise either. She seriously thinks that the day she announces the floodgates are going to open and millions of dollars will pour in.

The real problem with the people who support a Palin run, besides their obvious lack of intellect, is that they keep confusing media attention with voter support.

Yes, if Sarah Palin decides to announce her candidacy she WILL receive a ton of attention from the media. And she will also attract a rather significant initial infusion of cash for her campaign. (If her sycophants aren't in the poorhouse after buying dozens of tickets to her crappy movie and several copies of Bristol's book that is.)

But then what?

She clearly cannot stand on stage and engage in a debate with the other GOP contenders, so she will have to find some reason avoid that. (Perhaps she could get a note from Michele Bachmann's doctor?)

She cannot appear on any cable, or network, news program to answer REAL questions from an interviewer who is not paid to resist the urge to embarrass her, so she will have to avoid that.

Every single potential scandal about her, including babygate, will be revisited by the journalists who, having no access to her, will feel the need to investigate them aggressively in order to answer voter's questions about her worthiness to be the President.

And finally the people who have agreed not to reveal the things they know about her, in the GOP and around Alaska, unless she decided to run for President, will suddenly start showing up on news programs all across the country, and telling tales that NO amount of public relations management will be able to suppress.

In other words, it would be insane for Sarah Palin to decide to run for President, but as we all know....

Personally I believe that Palin is currently caught in an internal war between her fantasy of who she is and what she can do, and the reality that keeps slipping through the cracks of her giant wall of denial and reminding her of her devastating limitations and how aggressive the press will be in revealing them.

That taken into account with the fact that her pool of supporters has diminished to the size of a mud puddle exposed to the Arizona sun, would seem to indicate that she will not run for office, and might instead work overtime to think up a viable excuse that will keep her supporters sending her money while she decides which candidate might be desperate enough to promise her some cushy appointment to their cabinet in exchange for her now relatively useless endorsement.

I'll risk it...her supporters are retarded, or just plain ignorant. The woman is not qualified to even run for POTUS (but then, neither is the very racist Cain, so there you go.) She has zero intellectual curiosity, banks on attracting the lowest common denominator if voters (although I bet she never learned what an LCD is,) and cannot yet compose a literate answer to an off the cuff question. Go away, Sarah. Your dream is over-you turned it into our national nightmare, and we are now fully awake.

Palin has no choice but to run. The rubes she fleeced will demand it in return for their being taken and will "lynch" her in a heartbeat if she turns tail and runs away with all of their cash.

I would not want to be in her shoes at this moment in time.

I wouldn't count on this happening, ever. I haven't seen any evidence that any mainstream journalists have any inclination whatsoever to take an honest look at Palin. They don't answer questions. They push pre-determined narratives and stoke sensationalistic controversy. Informing the public plays zero part in the entire production.

This photo really shows Palin's wonky eye.

I wonder if this could have been corrected via surgery? My sister had what could be the same issue and had corrective eye surgery when she was in junior high school.

Maybe her parents feared doing this. My sister had to beg to get my mom to approve this surgery.

But, now Palin is an adult who has gone under the knife for so many non-medical issues. Yet, she ignores 'real' corrective surgery.

A bit of irony to me is that supposedly Sarah's glasses are just for show. Yet, Trig actually needs glasses, but is rarely seen wearing them.

The more money Sarah Palin wastes on her fantasies, the less money to fund a long-term presence in American politics.

I hope Palin wastes gazzillions of tea party dollars trying to make a facebook dent in the NH voters (who from personal experience expect nothing less than being treated like royalty by groveling presidential candidates).

Nicole Wallace is not the only person ready to unload on Palin if she even remotely looks like a possible candidate. And when those people are finished with Palin, there's still babygate to surface.

Been following C4P and other Palin sites for a while and one interesting thing happening now is that the vast majority of supporters are intimating they will really be pissed if their Queen does not enter the race. To the point some long time supporters are alluding she scammed them all if she doesn't run.

They don't want to really take in the conflicting recent comments Palin made, saying in one instance that her choice depends on family support, and then right after that saying it all depends if someone else with a "servant's heart" whom she can support gets in.

No way Faux News has not already discussed this with her, and with recent Murdoch scandal, I wouldn't think Fox would keep her on the payroll if she is running.

It's highly amusing really, Grifter Queen has led on her base for so long that if she doesn't run she will lose them, and she and Todd know they can't win and it will get ugly.

I think much of $arah's bravado came about from successfully faking experience to get elected as Wasilla's mayor. Plus she told vicious lies during her campaign, her favorite hobby, and she wasn't held accountable. Once elected, she handed off her responsibilities to a city manager that she hired to do her job. Everything went her way.

Then she seized the opportunity to get herself elected governor as a mythical ethics reformer. Again, she used her position to tell spiteful lies and abuse her power. She actually got away with faking a public pregnancy to advance her career. Plus, she had others do her governor work so she was rarely in Juneau, a place she detested. So much faking. So easy. So much fun.

So when the chance came to be vice president, she knew she could fake it and get others to do her work (if she could keep her damn family members in line). She basked in the glory of racists' adoration and her nasty rhetoric reached new lows. But, as shocking as it was to $arah, some people were finally starting to pick up on her lies, ignorance, maliciousness, thoughtlessness, and narcissism. They were actually demanding accountability from her. How dare they?? Those...those child molesters! Those...those terrorists! They're not reel Americans!

She is now a bonafide Quitter and has only increased the world's negative view of her. But, reality won't stop her from running for president. No way. She's tasted success and she's hungry. That, and her "God" is on her side. She thinks she can sit on the sidelines and wait for the perfect opportunity near the end of the game to throw a winning free throw! All bow to the Queen of the Game.

Palin is profoundly stupid and her narcissism is beyond measure. She thinks that gravity doesn’t apply to her and that HER shit smells like roses. Her tribe of moronic cousin humpers that are her fans buy into her bullshit without question.

Palin does indeed conflate media attention with votes. Andrew Not-So-Bright-Bart can also attract media attention but he would stand about as much chance of being elected POTUS as Rupert Murdoch. Palin’s chances aren’t much better.

Modern science lacks the technological sophistication required to produce an instrument which is capable of measuring the infinitesimally minute amount of grey matter that is actually contained in Palin’s skull.

And yet she will run for president.

Palin will not attend a single debate, yet she will still run. She will likely not take part in a single primary, yet she will still run. She will not attract meaningful campaign donations, yet she will still run. She will not be able to attract experienced or even competent campaign staff, yet she will still run. She will assiduously avoid interviews with all but CBN and FauxNews - if FauxNews is still around, yet she will still run. She will not articulate cogent or even intelligible statements on any issue, yet she will still run. She will not attract the endorsement of any sane prominent members of the GOP, yet she will still run. She will attract the enmity of even more prominent members of the GOP who will speak out against her candidacy, yet she will STILL run. She could witness Jesus Christ, the Apostles and a choir of 1000 angels all testifying that she did not have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning, AND YET SHE WILL STILL RUN!

Palin is a simpering congenital moron whose vanity simply compels her to seek the fame, celebrity, and riches which she imagines will all be hers if she but attains the White House. Like a moth to the flame, Palin is inexorably drawn towards what will be a certain crushing defeat, abject humiliation, and national rejection, AND YET SHE WILL STILL RUN! The proverbial moth is much smarter than Palin.

She will put her ignorance on display, she will step on every rake that she possibly can, and she will subject herself to the most excruciating humiliations possible, and through it all declare that indeed, she can STILL win. Remember, if it weren’t for bad ideas, Palin would have no ideas at all. If it’s a batshit crazy, loopy assed, no-way-in-hell, brain dead idea, Palin will be all for it.

THAT’S what makes Sarah Palin so damn fun to watch. We will witness the months long Palin train wreck unfold before our eyes. She is simply, unalterably, pathologically driven to run for POTUS.

And I will enjoy every minute of it.

Just let this woman introduce her chaos, her special brand of crazy, into the GOP field. Just let her. They deserve every single moment of trouble she causes them.

The beauty of the thing is that she sucks the air out of any room she's in. Many in the press will completely palaver over her and she will saturate political coverage - drawing attention away from other Republican candidates who might be going about things the traditional way (Karl Rove is sheer evil, but he is right that she ignores the grassroots at her own peril).

Ultimately, however, the entire thing will implode, the rumors and skeletons will come tumbling down on top of her - all while our President remains calm and collected, steadily attending to our era's multiple crises.

He'll be there to soothe everyone's frayed nerves; he'll look like the brilliant, self-composed statesman that he is, and he'll win everyone over once again.

This era in world history is not for the faint of heart, or the pretenders.

  44. "Personally I believe that Palin is currently caught in an internal war between her fantasy of who she is and what she can do, and the reality that keeps slipping through the cracks of her giant wall of denial..."
    --------------------------
Well said. I think this explains so much of her otherwise inexplicable behavior.

I believe that her narcissism demands that she run; I believe that her narcissism spurs daydreams of putting the smackdown to President Obama.

At the same time, she is lazy through and through. Running for the presidency is incredibly hard work, physically, mentally, psychologically, and in any other way you can think of. Sarah doesn't do hard work.

Running for the presidency also means dealing with attention not only from your fans, but from the vast number of people who don't want you to win. Sarah can't handle criticism at all. I believe she is excited about the idea of the adoring crowds cheering her on, but somewhere in the dim recesses of her mind is the memory of people thinking that they had the right to question and criticize, and even laugh at her! How dare they! Sarah does not like that prospect at all.

Running for the presidency means raising incredible amounts of money. She can't see beyond her own infantile spend it all greed on whatever she wants right now. She could not use SarahPac money for her own campaign anyway, but she has had over a million dollars come in just this year. Much of that could have been used to support other candidates for various offices (and get their support in return), and in a variety of other ways to build up future support for her own run (it's called networking, Sarah). She hasn't bothered. She spends as quickly as it comes in, but on specious "consulting" fees and other handouts to family, friends, and sycophants. And of course she spends plenty on her own grandiose entitlements (bus wrap!).

Running for the presidency takes an enormously thick skin. You have to be willing to get your mug and your flapping gums out there at every opportunity and in front of anybody with a camera or a microphone to get your message across. You have to brush off the fear that you will say or do something stupid, or innocent, but misconstrued. You cannot afford to only appear in front of the already converted. What good is that? You have to have the courage of your convictions and be willing (and prepared!) to jump in front of even potentially unfriendly audiences (see above; hard work). Sarah will not run an "unconventional" campaign. She will run a cowardly campaign. Because she is a coward. Because she is too lazy to educate herself and to prepare, she sees the fluffiest questions as attacks.

I think in her heart, she is reveling in the disarray of the GOP clown parade. I think her narcissism combined with her cowardice has her dreaming of a vision in which, after doing no work, raising no money, and not having to participate in debates or interviews, she gets to stroll on stage at the convention to thunderous applause (like last time!) as she graciously accepts the RNC's pleas to be the nominee (not second fiddle this time!).

And then, somehow, someway (magic?) it will just be a hop and a skip into the White House. Because when's she's in charge, by golly, you betcha, God will want her to pull out all the stops to run the most vicious, rage-filled, dangerous, campaign in this country's history.

Another point that normal people keep making is that Sarah doesn't want the presidency because it doesn't pay well enough. It doesn't pay a lot for the work involved if you are a normal, honest, person. Sarah, however, will see it as one grand money-grubbing opportunity just as she did with the governorship and her mayoral position. She and her sticky-fingered family will find more ways to grift, mooch, and fill their pockets than any sane person could think of.

While noting $arah was 'waiting' for the right time, because apparently she already has her campaign-chest in place. (The perky - push up bra)

By failing to announce - she has in fact 'announced'. $arah will not RUN or campaign for the office, but she will accept being 'drafted' into the office by 'popular demand' of her fans and GOP. Seems the intention is to just ride the popularity wave into the highest office of the United States.

This is a very good explanation of Sarah Palin, as possible presidential candidate, namely, that she would have to run an unconventional campaign. She may have deluded herself into believing that she could actually run a rogue campaign, but there are a couple of facts that just keep getting in the way. She has a small, unskilled staff. She has not attracted the same donations compared to the other candidates. She hasn't bother to learn anything, and it is doubtful that she could debate the other candidates or survive a serious interview.

Sarah would have to run by celebrity, and there is a point where the substance has to be more important than makeup, a short skirt and high high heels. Sarah must really believe that the movie is all the advertising that she needs. Karl Rove has her number, and I don't think that he and the Republican power brokers want to watch Sarah lose another election for them.

    ReplyDelete

Wow, Gryphen, this is a great post! The proof is that you have attracted comments that say in poetic, articulate, intelligent and direct tones why Sarah will run (she has to) and what her failings will be. If one needs to make a comparison, she'll be the 2012 version of Fred Thompson, who thought that he could stand on the stage along side real candidates and his celebrity would be all that he needed. He didn't last very long.

There's also the chance that Sarah is so in love with the idea of running, and so blind to reality that she might try it as a third party candidate. She won her job as governor in a three way race. That would require serious backing, and we'll have to see what happens to her backer, Rupert. I agree with the others who wrote that Sarah can't stay focused for more than a year, and running for president is serious hard work, something that Sarah doesn't do very well.

God is talking to them all and making promises.

First George w. via Billy Graham talks to god. Then Sarah Palin and her god. Then Michelle Bachman and hers. Now is Rick Perry and his god.

My god, he can't squeeze all three into the White House. The unholy trinity. Palin, Bachman and Perry.

Oh she has to run . . . . If she doesn't her bots will eat her guts out with a pointed stick. Of course she'll have to take a hit with making no money--but that's what her PAC was for. She'll get ghostwritten whines on Facebook and get arthritic fingers from twittering stupidity. She'll demand Secret Service protection early 'cause someone is threatening to assault her kids.

This will be epic fun. It will be like the bus tour X 1000. The humor will be like Michael Steele on crack. She'll get so excited while the media is following her like dogs on a ribeye. But of course she's trying to help the media -- And as we are laughing she'll forget to put one of her water boobs in her bra.

Remember everybody--nobody tells Crazy what to do. If you say she can't run--she'll do it to prove you wrong and screw it up anyway. Run Sarah, run.

And when they do realize it will they demand their money back or take the law into to their own hands like so many right wing nut jobs love to do? Will a crosshairs map be produced by her former supporters? Imagine the irony of that. These are the monsters you created sarah, now you have to deal with the consequences. Jeez, if sarah thinks that shawn cristy kid is a threat what will she think of the deranged mobs of her former fans when they finally turn on her?

Instead she is truly the biggest mess I've ever seen, and throwing away opportunity with both claws!

If she doesn't want to appear on any television stations, she doesn't have to. There is no law that says she has to. If she wins the nomination, and still thinks she can run a rogue campaign and only do things her way, not take part in the presidential debate, or not answer any of the questions like she did during the VP debate, what then? It will be up to the American public to bitch slap this delusional twit back to reality. If we don't do this, the US deserves what we get. That's when I move to Canada or Costa Rica.

This bimbo as mayor and governor was so insecure and trusted nobody that she hired unqualified classmates and friends to positions that would protect her.

This bimbo as governor ran a scam to collect per diem to charge taxpayers to live in her own home.

This bimbo could not do her job as mayor or governor without the help of her husband.

This bimbo had Alaskan state employees send emails and get approval from Todd Palin who had no official title or position with the state.

So at 45% Bannon would earn $34,521 for the first week.

  86. Anon @ 11:20 -- your suggestion that Sarah might stage phony threats, or an assault on herself or her family, to give her an excuse not to run while playing the victim is plausible, given her history, but would be a very stupid tactic. Violence or threats of violence for the purpose of preventing a person from exercising the constitutional right of running for public office is a federal crime. To put the Obama administration above suspicion, it would be in the administration's interest to identify and prosecute anyone involved in any such threat or assault to the full extent of the law, so anyone involved in faking a threat or assault would have the choice of admitting that it was a charade (and no crime), or spending a long time in prison.

Sarah might have followers so devoted that they would spend time in prison for the sake of making her President, but for the sake of letting her avoid running without losing face? Don't think so.

    Your math is wrong, 4:25.

If the Undefeated made $11,586 from Monday-Thursday, the number of moviegoers was actually much less than you suggest.

Let's say the average ticket price was $8.

    $11,586 / $8 = 1,448.

Divide that by four days, you get 362 moviegoers a day. Divide that by the 10 cities, that means there's only about 36 tickets sold per theater, per day.

Divide that by 5 showings (that's how many showings there typically are in a day per theater), that averages out to about 7 moviegoers for each screening.

Truly pathetic, and it's hilarious how the C4P'ers are trying to spin the movie as a big success.

@6:49: "But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how you have a dog in the hunt."

If bloggers like Gryphen ignore Palin, she is not going away. The mainstream media will continue to cover her and treat her like a viable, legitimate political figure no matter what she does. So far, the only place that Palin's actual record as governor and issues like her outrageous baby hoax have been covered has been in blogs like this one.
Palin is unfit for office and would be a disaster for this country. She has already played her part in dragging our political discourse down, highjacking the discussion of important issues that affect all of us (e.g. her "death panels" theory). Until her political career is over we all "have a dog in the hunt."

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous9:36 AM

Palin's three year long saga of flirting and winking
    about running
has her boxed into a corner.
    She's encouraged her dwindling supporters
with false hope in order to keep
    the revenue coming in.
Her PAC numbers were appalling on a couple of fronts.
The small amount raised , the profligate and self indulgent spending and the low number of actual contributors.
This should have been an indication to any
sane person ( especially the media ) that she
    has flamed completely out.
The media ( left and right ) continues to ignore the empirical evidence that Palin has
    no organization and
    no widespread national support .
Her last book was not a blockbuster ,
her speaking engagements have dried up and the recent series of bellyflops from
the bus tour to the movie to the dismal
    Mall of America turn out
    confirm her lack of support.
The latest FOX poll showed that only 12 % of registered Republican voters thought
she had a legitimate chance of
    winning a presidential election.
She can't break out of single digits in most polls.
It's mystifying why the media still continues
to promote Palin as a viable candidate when
    they know she's not.
The Palins do not appear to be the sharpest knives
in the drawer and they don't attract
    the best and the brightest.
It is highly conceivable that they have not managed their financial windfall properly.
At some point , her FOX contract will expire.
Palin needs her mostly elderly and retired supporters
to continue to finance the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed.
If she runs and flops as she will,
    they become discouraged
    and stop sending her money.
If she doesn't run, they become angry
and stop financing her slush fund aka PAC.
She has only herself to blame
and her options are very limited.
I bet we will see Palin in the not so distant future at some convention selling her autograph or
hawking some type of Palin dolls on QVC.
