Rupert's son, James Murdoch, may have been caught lying to the British Parliament. Anybody surprised?

Courtesy of The Guardian:

Tom Crone and Colin Myler must have been well aware that the statement they were about to make could prove fatal to James Murdoch.

When the Guardian pointed out in the wake of his parliamentary testimony that Murdoch's son had sought to blame them for concealment, a friend of the two men said: "To contradict James will be as good as coming out and calling him a liar."

Myler and Crone, the News of the World's then editor and News International's top newspaper lawyer, both of whom have lost their jobs in the wake of the phone-hacking affair, subsequently spent the day debating what to do.

If their statement of Thursday night is correct, then Rupert's son will have proved to have misled parliament. It will also have destroyed the Murdoch family's last line of defence against the scandal: that they knew nothing, and had been betrayed by those underlings they trusted.

I knew the little prick was lying right off the bat.

Gee I wonder who Rupert will have left to hide behind after Junior gets tired of taking the heat and turns on him?

Well I guess he always has that Ninja trained attack wife of his.

    Lying? To Parliament??

    I'm shocked! SHOCKED!!

Sounds sorta like a barbarian, and maybe needs some discipline.

    OT but... huh?

    Bristol Palin Talks Virginity
What would Mama Grizzly think? In an interview that aired Thursday, the former 'DWTS' contestant was pressured by Dr. Drew to admit she was raped when she lost her virginity to Levi Johnston.

No surprise. Fox News lies and they get it from Murdoch.

This is O/T but I happened to catch a few minutes of Bristol on Dr. Drew. He is carrying Bristol's water saying that Levi is a bad guy and that he was surprised that Tawd didn't want to kick his ass. I couldn't watch much and I now have lost respect for Dr.Drew.

    "...last line of defence..."
Make that "defense", unless you are referring to the 14ft. pedophile blocker at the Palin compound. In that case it would be "duh fence".

Anyone suspect Rupe et al. set up that shaving foam stunt? Don't put it past him.

I'm just gobsmacked! He lied? lol

More like he forgot to pay off a few of his old croneys.

Also, too , watching Dr Druid speahifying with the ever deceiptful Bearstool Palin.

She tried, the poor thing, to "Fix" Levi because poor Levi comes from a "broken home".

He's playing the impartial interviewer, the stupid idiot keeps spouting the same bullshit. She was on birth control, but forgot to take the pill 3 days in a row, and it's all Levi's fault.

She gave the exclusive about her engagement to Levi, took the check, and now says it was a big mistake because she believed Levi's handlers that it was the right thing to do.

    lie about the chin

lie about tripp and trig being the same stage developmentally.

omitted her move to arizona completely

One thing that stood out, and was pointed out by Dr Drewid, that she's hiding her emotions behind her smile, and also, too, she's got a strong family, and Track and Todd wanted to "Rip Levi's Face Off".

So, basically, Levi licked her earlobes, and she opened up like a blossom ready for the bee to pollinate, and it's all the bee's fault.

    Seriously stupid, heartless bitch.

Don't waste a second watching it. She can hardly read her own words nor convey her real feelings, other than hate.

5:43- the italicized portion of the post is taken from the Guardian, which is from the UK. "Defence" is the correct (British ) English spelling of the word. (Like moustache for mustache, pyjamas for pajamas, honour for honor, colour for color, etc).

Gee it really would be nice to see both Murdochs finally get their come uppance andperhaps be found to have committed similar crimes in the U.S. It would give grounds that both be stripped of their American citizenship and deported.

Agree Chenagrrl. Rupe has gained this magical victim status, with news and pundits of all stripes shocked and attacking the "perp" (a Librul, you know... o, the injustice!)

Rupe may have got some shaving creme on his jacket (which was removed to demonstrate his "injury") -- however, he was totally unscathed.

Do you suppose Rupe may have personally coached Sister Saree? This is just such a continual circus, and the victim trick seems to work flawlessly at every small turn of events, through stakes that are truly national/ international in scope. And expanding.

Michael Smerkonich (sp?), subbing for Chris Matthews this PM, said the pie throwing looked to him like a Murdoch inside job. A stunt to detract from the testimony.

On the other hand, the pie throwing was covered widely by the US media (which the whole scandal really hasn't been) so this little diversion may end up backfiring on Murdoch with increased US interest and coverage.

Find out why name-calling Congressman Allen West is WORSE, non-working "journalist" Sarah Palin is WORSER, and casino boss (and amateur economist) Steve Wynn is the WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD for July 21, 2011.

    Chenagirl:

I have a hard time believing that Murdock DIDN'T set up the pie trick.

How did the "comedian" get the pie into the building? Past security, past the guards?

Murdock's wife was awfully quick on the defense. Almost as if she were expecting it. No one else had time to react, but she was right on the money. Literally.

I long ago gave up hope that Murdock and Faux news would have any consequences for their actions (lies) here in the US. They own too many powerful people.

I do hope the UK will prosecute the whole damn bunch of them.

    OT but amusing.

From the NY Daily News article about Track & Britta's baby shower - notice the slip about Barstool's kid:

"Palin may be the first of his immediate family's children to marry, but he is not the first to have a child.

The former vice presidential candidate's daughter, Bristol, gave birth to son Trigg in 2008.

While your comment about "da fence" is funny, I would like to point out that the word "defense" appears in an article "courtesy of The Guardian" and thus the spelling of "defence" is the correct one in what you may call Standard or The Queen's English.

    jus' sayin'...

    Chenagrrl,
My initial reaction to the shaving cream pie was that it was staged by Murdoch.

He knew damn well that his popularity in Britain was about on par with suppurating pustules, venereal warts, and prolapsed hemorrhoids. It would be right up his alley to try and win sympathy by making himself appear the vulnerable 80 year old.

If he did stage it, I hope they suddenly notice a rather large deposit in Johnnie Marbles' chequing account.

At this point, there could be no allegation made toward Murdoch that would surprise me.

He is a loathsome asshole. His son James is an odious turd.

It looks like the turd didn't fall far from the asshole, eh?

I'm with everyone who suspects the foam pie thrower was a plant. That's what I said to my hubby as I was watching when it happened yesterday. There's no doubt in my mind that Murdoch put the guy up to it to gain sympathy.

The law of averages dictates that every once in a great while, even the most powerful, corrupt, and deserving lying bastards get their comeuppance.

Circumstances just pile on to make a disaster much worse than anyone could have possibly thought. Remember a guy called Richard Nixon anyone?

If the FBI or US Justice Dept can pin real charges on the Murdochs,
they could lose FCC licensing, and get forced out of their own companies here in the USA.

And BTW, how can Wendi Murdoch stand to get into bed with a guy who is 80 YEARS OLD!!!

    She's 43, according to Wikipedia

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendi_
    Murdoch

I guess when you're worth 20 billion bucks, you don't care if you look a total fool to the rest of the world for dating someone who was THREE years old when you turned 40

Even worse than lying to Parliament, the younger Murdoch boy is probably guilty of a coverup to silence co-conspirators..

Some great information on the Guardian, a bastion of journalistic excellence

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/blog/2011/jul/22/phone-hacking-scandal-live-coverage

Two former editors of News of the World ( Colin Myler and Tom Crone) have told investigators a very different story than what James Murdoch testified to.

    Quote:
Far from reporting the crime to the police or putting the matter right within his own company, what Myler's statement shows - if it is true - [is] that James Murdoch knowingly bought the silence of Taylor, thereby covering up a crime. In the UK, that is called conspiring to pervert the course of justice and it is very serious matter, and I think the Metropolitan police now have to look at this as a matter of urgency.
