Norwegian Muslish Gunman's Islam-Esque Atrocity | ||||
|
I thought this was one of Colbert's most brilliant segments ever.
It demonstrated just the right amount of seriousness about the attack themselves before using comedy to mock Fox, and other Murdoch owned media, for using the attacks to fan the flames of Islamic hatred.
[The conservative bloggers/news outlets are] now pleading for the world not to do what they’ve spent their careers doing — assigning collective blame for an act of terror through guilt-by-association. What’s clear is that they understand that the principle of collective responsibility is a monstrous wrong in the abstract, or at least when it’s applied to them. They are now begging for the kind of tolerance and understanding they cheerfully refuse to grant to American Muslims.
ReplyDeleteAs Serwer says, the right-wing bloggers are not responsible for the attacks in Norway, however much Breivik was inspired by their writing. They are no more responsible for Breivik's actions than the members of the would-be Park 51 Islamic Cultural Center and mosque in New York, or the Murfreesboro, Tennessee Muslims were for the 9/11 attacks.
But that's a point, and a comparison, none of them are going to be willing to concede. -- Daily Kos
who'd a thought Ozzy got us all figured out a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteCRAZY TRAIN
All aboard!
HA HA HA HA HA HA!
a'ight, a'ight, a'ight, a'ight (echo)
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe, it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I’m going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
Yeah yeah yeah
Heirs of the Cold War, that's what we've become
Inhireted troubles, I'm mentally numb!
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair!
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what’s to blame
I’m going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
Absolutely brilliant.
ReplyDeleteFauxNews has yet again displayed their total disregard for journalistic ethics. A right wing conservative Christian extremist Islamophobe goes on a murderous rampage and FauxNews uses it as an opportunity to spew right wing conservative Christian extremist Islamophobic hyperbole.
ReplyDeleteDidn't FauxNews just effectively endorse Breivik's position?
Hey FauxNews assholes! The MUSLIMS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS! How the hell can they use this as an opportunity to bash Islam? Well, I guess if you can trumpet a call to war in Iraq because of Al Qaeda, this makes about as much sense.
Fuck FauxNews and anybody who watches it. These misanthropes are a clear and present danger to our democracy and to the dignity and human rights of all people everywhere. I look forward to the day when this festering putrescent scourge is taken off the air forever.
Fuck you very much Murdoch.
Even Fox News is losing viewers because people get tired of constantly being lied to. I don't watch MSNBC or CNN much anymore because they're getting too much like Fox News. I do enjoy the Colbert Report and the Daily Show.
ReplyDeleteThere's an unfilled market for real honest journalism, especially in cable. I'm surprised no network has envisioned the huge profits to be made.
Fox News is the face of terrorism.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how quiet Palin's been lately. Where are her condolences to the Noreweign people? Where is her outrage? Something's up, or else she's under heavy sedation.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Lopez tells Piers Morgan he will leave the country if Sarah Palin is ever elected President.

David Frum worked at the George W. White House. I have found his site to provide intelligent conservative articles and the comments tend to be at a civilized level of discourse.
On the other hand, sometimes it can get so lofty, it is stratospheric!

I appreciate that he used irony (some one tell Sarah to watch as it would be a learning experience for her, and she has an irony deficiency.)
ReplyDeleteHe didn't go for laughs but groans.

It's a good article. It also references Sarah Palin's “don’t retreat, reload” mantra.
