Just a reminder from 2004 of who the Republicans are, and what they are capable of doing to gain, or hold on to, power.

Karl Rove and George Bush patting each other on the back for fucking over the American people.

Courtesy of Truthout:

A new filing in the King Lincoln Bronzeville v. Blackwell case includes a copy of the Ohio Secretary of State election production system configuration that was in use in Ohio's 2004 presidential election when there was a sudden and unexpected shift in votes for George W. Bush.

The filing also includes the revealing deposition of the late Michael Connell. Connell served as the IT guru for the Bush family and Karl Rove. Connell ran the private IT firm GovTech that created the controversial system that transferred Ohio's vote count late on election night 2004 to a partisan Republican server site in Chattanooga, Tennessee owned by SmarTech. That is when the vote shift happened, not predicted by the exit polls, that led to Bush's unexpected victory. Connell died a month and a half after giving this deposition in a suspicious small plane crash.

Additionally, the filing contains the contract signed between then-Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell and Connell's company, GovTech Solutions. Also included that contract a graphic architectural map of the Secretary of State's election night server layout system.

Cliff Arnebeck, lead attorney in the King Lincoln case, exchanged emails with IT security expert Stephen Spoonamore. Arnebeck asked Spoonamore whether or not SmarTech had the capability to "input data" and thus alter the results of Ohio's 2004 election. Spoonamore responded: "Yes. They would have had data input capacities. The system might have been set up to log which source generated the data but probably did not."

Spoonamore explained that "they [SmarTech] have full access and could change things when and if they want."

Arnebeck specifically asked "Could this be done using whatever bypass techniques Connell developed for the web hosting function." Spoonamore replied "Yes."

This is the kind of thing to keep in mind when you are hearing the Teabaggers talk about "taking their country back."

The GOP are the ones who rigged not one, but TWO, elections and took the choice away from the voters.  It was the Republicans who lied to the American people in order to start an unnecessary war in Iraq. And it was the Republicans who put this economy into the tailspin that we are still trying to recover from today.

So exactly WHICH party is the one that stole this country away from its people?

And our President is supposed to negotiate with these unscrupulous bastards?

To think he stole four years of our nation's health to promote his, Karl and Dick's highly lucrative agenda of personal gain. . .it sickens. Sickens!

And Sarah and Michele still sing him praises. Let that follow you around you crazy bitches.

Great post! The GOP is a bunch of selfish, scheming, lying, rotten bastards, and the sooner we vote them all out, the sooner we can return to a country that cares about her people more than profits made by companies.

With this and the last post (Obama asking for our help) I feel like I should be running in the street with my flaming torch and a pitchfork -- but I have to go to work now.

Please, folks, think of some creative way to protest this and support our president that even us "off to work" folks can participate in. Let's think of something that will go viral in support of our president -- who is not perfect but is a clear symbol of what's right rather than what's wrong.

This is the time for a huge grass-roots surge -- but how? what?

And you do know that SmarTech is the company that hosts the SarahPAC website, right? And that Tim Crawford, SarahPAC treasurer, goes 'way back with Blackwell and Bush?

I am so glad you posted this...it made me sick when I read it last week. I think it is time we took the country back from Republican terrorists cuz thats what they are. The voter suppression tactics thru ALEC is big news too...it has been well documented thru the Nation magazine. America needs a huge wake up call...and soon.

  6. Yes, whatever they accuse the Democrats of, is what they themselves are guilty of.

It's also exactly how Sarah Palin rolls.

And the pretend Christians, also, too.

As for 2000 and 2004: my contention has always been that the exit polls were correct, and the tallied votes were so obviously messed with.

Connell was all set to rig the 2008 election, but he was ca;;ed to testify before Congress the day before the election. He got cold feet and Obama won.

Think the O man would have won anyway? Think twice! McCain was on record as right before the election that he would win. McShame said to this effect: I will win. it would not be apparent at first, but early in the wee hours of the morning on the day after the election, the tide will shift, and I will win.

Connell was scheduled to testify before congress after the election and it look like he was going to tell the truth. Instead he was assassinated by airplane. His Blackberry, which contained all his secrets and records was removed by the investigators and never found. The case was found strewn among the ruins.

Thus the repugs have all his secrets.

Oh yeah, Connell was a well meaning Catholic, essentially non-political. He fixed elections to save the babies.

I believe the fixed the votes nationwide in 2004, thus making it appear that W had far more support for his crimes than he actually had. W then said he had political capital and he was going to spend it!

I love the way you remind us that President Obama is "our" president. His campaign wasn't funded by corporations, but by "we the people."

Here is a reminder from an article:
"A month after the election, a new disclosure report by President-elect Obama shows that he raised nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars in his run for the White House. Obama attained these financial heights by spurning the public financing system for both the primaries and the general election."

AND, remember he has told us that he can't do it alone. I feel really bad that we didn't deliver in the 2010 elections. Now he has to put up with so much crap with the House. We have to help him.

At New Hampshire HQ, we finally got the call...KERRY WON! HEAD BACK TO BOSTON.

Ran into Ted Koppel, scored some passes to the 'inner circle'...Sheryl Crow, Black Eyed Peas, James Taylor...total celebration,,,rubbing shoulders with Kennedy kids.....

    then.....

as we watched the final results come in....

    and we saw Ohio,,,,,

    WE KNEW they stole it.

Stayed in the freezing cold until 2:30 AM, when John Edwards came out to give the old "not til every vote is counted" speech....

    WE KNEW.

All the polishing of W's legacy will forever be tinged with the truth. He was NOT honestly elected by the people, he is a fraud. Has been from day one, in school where his diplomas were bought for him by his Daddy. In the service where his AWOL staus was covered up. Then onto the presidency, where he was a tool used by Cheney and others. The rest of the world saw him for the dimwitted moron that he really is, and watched in amazement as the entire world was pulled into wars that enriched the few elites in the US. That was a shameful episode in US history, and republicans should be embarrassed by it. The sane, rational people among us are totally disgusted.

The GOP tweeting today is almost unbearable. Since most of the Senate GOPers couldn't Tweet if their golf games depended on it, I assume it's their bots.

The tone is snotty and most unhelpful. This stuff and rot about blank check is nothing more than a headline word. What the heck did George W. Bush get? What the president is asking is a longgggg way from what Bush demanded, and got.

I personally think an email campaign to every last tea party caucus member is appropriate. The tp talking heads from this group seem to think the dear hearts and gentle people who elected them represent the rest of us. They constantly quote the folks at home and call them alternatively THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Since it is hard to email a congress member who is not in your rep, use the address of a public library in the district.

Most of us would never contact a freshman congressman from say utah or texas, but since the gang has inserted itself into our national debate, they are fair game for firm, polite pressure.

Most importantly each TPer needs to be assured that folks outside their districts will be involved in their next election campaigns.

I have a friend who is jobless who is at a computer in her local library sending nice polite, but firm emails to every last TPer. She says it makes her feel like she is contributing.

Find what seems to be a complete list on Michelle Bachmann's website.

I had seen a diary on this stolen election on dKos last week 7/21 and it is now deleted. This diary had a link to the deposition of Mike Connell.... I cannot find that link anymore. I had read 56 pages of Mike's testimony and never got to finish.... Would appreciate anyone who has a link to post it.

As I read Mike's deposition I wondered if the light was slowly dawning on him as he put the puzzle together of who, what, when, where.... I asked myself if Mike was just a computer geek who did what he was asked and went home. I dunno.....but I knew guys like this.

They can't win fairly so they cheat.

Scott Walker and his vile cronies have passed legislation that requires a government-issued photo ID in order to vote. The most common form of this kind of ID is driver's license (a veteran's military ID was refused at the last election because it didn't have his address listed).

Walker just closed 10 DMV offices in Wisconsin and extended the hours of several others. The closed offices are in Democratic leaning areas while the offices with the extended hours are in Republican areas. But that's completely coincidental, of course!

At one of the primaries for the recall elections, calls were made from an anti-choice organization in VA to residents of WI on primary day, telling them that their mail-in ballots were on their way and should be returned to the group's headquarters in VA. The group was clearly hoping that: 1. many Democrats would stay home and wait for their mailed ballots and 2. the mailed ballots (presumably for Democrats) for the recall election would be returned to VA where they would, no doubt, disappear.

They can't win fairly so they cheat.

If the next election is close, say 48% to 51% (51% for Obama) the Republicans will steal another one. Mark my words, they (Republicans) want this next election really bad and if it's close they'll steal it! The only reason they couldn't steal '08 is because it wasn't even close for Gramps and the Grifter vs Obama.

Thanks for this post...amazing no MSM talking about this. I don't tweet, perhaps this can be tweeted far and wide.

I have always felt that the numbers in 2008 were too great to mess with by Rove and cohorts, people outmatched them. However, I believe the Tea Party was set up as a smoke screan to cover misdeeds in the midterms. The numbers always looked funny to me.

I sent letters to my senators & congress rep, along with cc: to President Obama last night.

Basically I reminded them of what millions of citizens across this country face every day - paying our bills when unemployed & under-employed.

We cut as much as we can by eliminating dinner & movie night out, vacation plans, basic cable, cell phone use, Dr. appts..... (discretionary budget cuts)

We honor our financial commitments with house & vehicle payments (pay our obligations to our debtors as well as seniors-veterans etc.)

And if need be, find another income source with a second job or sell off a dispensible asset. (increase taxes, close tax loopholes or sell off Texas)

The only problem I had e-mailing was with the Republican rep.

Another reminder - Obama said Yes, WE can. Not "HE" can - but WE can, with our voices and letters.

This is why, in NO shape or form, should we on the Left wish that Noodnick of the North runs as President with the hope of a popcorn-worthy campaign season, and Obama beating her to a pulp in the elections. It may not happen the way we want it to. The RWNJs are willing to lie, steal, cheat and worse (read the post) to win the WH. As we all know by now, it goes much, much deeper than the right vs. the left, and there are HUGE bucks being thrown around by true sociopaths.

Our district is made up of middle- to lower-middle to poverty-level people. I told the lady I don't know of ANY millionaires living in our city, so why is our guy up there voting like he's one?

A jaw dropper: "Political Wire" Quote of the day:

"If you want to steal an election, the absentee box is the place to begin, and if you want to calculate the liklihood of fraud in a county, first figure the percentage of its total vote that is cast in absentia"

I recently had the "pleasure" of having a Republican Politician knocking on my door, shaking my hand, and giving me a very democratic looking card stock glossy ad with his photo, and a handy made in China magnetic potato chip bag clip.

He rehashed all the Rethuglican talking points, bashed and misrepresented President Obama's record. So, being an unabashed liberal female, I invited him into my home for some "cold lemonade" and to set a spell.
My husband and several of our friends were all on their cellphones, as we always do once or twice a week, calling people to get the vote out and contribute to the President's re-election.
Granted, he's only running for a local committeman and probably wouldn't win anyway, but he looked kind of like a kid who's candy was stolen. He quickly collected his things and politely left.

The person who works and wants to know what they can do, it's very easy. Write letters, call politicians, join Organizing for America, carve out a few hours on a weeknight and call people. They give you literature and talking points, and belive me, you get back much more than the effort you put in. People are highly receptive and understanding. Most are willing or able to make a small donation, but every litte bit helps.
Am I thrilled with everything President Obama accomplished? No, not totally. But considering what he's been dealing with, and seeing the line up of candidates on the GOP ticket so far, ANYTHING Obama accomplished, he earned it by working hard for working families, the elderly, disabled, and the poor.
