Courtesy of CNN:
After talking for about three minutes, Bachmann waded into the crowd filled with adoring supporters.
Moments later, as she tried to exit the area back to a waiting drive cart, Bachmann found herself in the middle of a mob of people: among them many supporters and members of the press including this reporter and CNN anchor Don Lemon.
As both CNN staffers tried to question Bachmann, Lemon said he was pushed by two members of Bachmann’s staff. Lemon also said that Marcus Bachmann, the congresswoman’s husband, pushed him.
“She came out, after speaking for just a couple minutes,” Lemon said. “There were other reporters and cameras there. And I asked her very respectful questions: ‘How do you think you did in the debate last night?’ and ‘How do you think you’re going to end up in the Ames Straw Poll?’ And her two campaign aides started elbowing me.”
Lemon continued: “I told them, asked them not to elbow me. And then her husband Marcus started doing the same thing. And then he elbowed me into the cart. And I said, ‘You just pushed me into the cart.’ And he goes, ‘No, you did it yourself.’
“It was just, I don’t know, why they would choose to do that. We weren’t asking any ‘gotcha’ questions,” Lemon added.
Gee I wonder what got the Bachmann campaign so "wee'd wee'd up?"
Perhaps a reporter from Des Moines Register can clear this up:
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann was 30 minutes late to speak at her scheduled soapbox event and spoke for three of the 20 allotted minutes.
She said she was going to shake hands, but left the makeshift stage quickly when 17-year-old Gabe Aderhold of Edina, Minn., loudly questioned her husband, Marcus, about counseling techniques at his clinic to “pray the gay away.”
Uh oh, it looks like the unscientific, and potentially damaging, "therapy" sessions that the Bachmann's use in their "pray away the gay" clinics might be a sore spot for the campaign to deal with. Well gee if I were a reporter in Iowa I know exactly which question I would keep bringing up.
I read about this earlier today somewhere.
ReplyDeleteWith the question that was shouted out to her about "pray the gay away" and the fact Don recently "came out". Duh!! Can we connect the dots here?
I truly felt he was "manhandled" very deliberately. He did and said nothing that should have brought on such treatment. He is a good reporter, a good anchor and as a gay supporter I applaud his courage.
I don't know what can be done to avoid such treatment of the honest press - perhaps someone with them who can record anything that might be going on - I don't know. What I do kinow is this is bu--sh--.
Pat Padrnos
Michele "Deep Throat" Bachmann just won the Iowa Straw Dogs Poll (apologies to Sam Peckinpah AND Linda Lovelace).
ReplyDeleteAnd now Marcus is accosting gay CNN anchors? LEAVE DON LEMON ALONE!!! (now, apologies to Britney's #1 fan).
Hasn't anyone told poor Marcus about Craig's List M4M?? He'll need some R&R after this. The Harpy won! She'll need an extra plane just for her ego. And I can't even imagine what this has done to Caribou Crosshairs! Whirlpool refrigerator stock just spiked.
Or this could be it:

Results are out
ReplyDeleteMichele Bachmann wins.
Ron Paul 2nd.
Tim Pawlenty 3rd.
Rick Santorum 4th.
Herman Cain 5th.
Perry got more votes than Romney even as a write in.
But you know who got zero?????
No votes for Sister Sarah, maybe a couple mules.
Poor Palin, nowhere on the list.
ReplyDeleteThe Defeated....again!
she won the Ames straw poll by 200 or so votes. Ron Paul was second.
ReplyDeleteBachmann paid $180K for 1st place giving away 6,000 tickets at $30. a pop.
I betcha they recognized that handsome black gay CNN anchor and did some intentional manhandling.
ReplyDeleteIt's so disappointing, though, to see reporters defending themselves by saying they were asking "respectful" questions. Jeez. At least the photographers there got some pix for the ages (the Bachmanns fellating corn dogs!!!).
So if you want to make MICHELLE BACHMANN stop speaking, just yell out,"PRAY AWAY THE GAY". Here come the MIGRAINES.
ReplyDeleteEven if they were asking Gotcha Questions, which in Republican land means anything and everything put in front of them over the race to 2012, she, her staff or husband have NO RIGHT TO LAY THEIR HANDS on the press or 'opposition' researchers or regular, normal Americans looking for answers from those who seek the highest offices of the land.
ReplyDeleteThe Silver Fox (more like a gummy bear) told a reporter that he pushed himself into a cart?
ReplyDeleteVery mature. And wicked.
You don't think his being black had anything to do with it do you?
ReplyDeleteNahhhh....couldn't be.
She sure as hell can't play the migraine card to explain her behavior.
ReplyDeleteBut if she really did have a headache, or a pre-headache, we've got a pretty good look at what she'd be like in office.
Hey Bachmann you asked for the attention you want the press coverage. And now you have them.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't your version of God tell you you have to take the bad with the good and deal with them both with a loving Christian heart.
Christ's words are the Beatitude, not A Bad Attitude.
Come on folks, it started with Sarah Palin and taken to the extreme with U.S. Senate primary winner Joe Miller.
ReplyDeleteThe conduct of Republican and Tea Party candidates during the 2008 and 2010 mid-term races were establishing a directive to vilify journalists just for doing their jobs.
They are creating an atmosphere where it's okay to not only shout them down, but to even go so far to assault them.
Well, if that's Don Lemon in the video clip, it's plain to see that his skin has too much natural tan for him to be a "rill" Amurikan. I doubt if the Bachmanns or anyone else in that bunch knew about his coming out: they don't read.
ReplyDeleteBachmann won the straw poll.
ReplyDeleteMichele Bachmann captured the famed Iowa straw poll in Ames Saturday, reaching a high-profile benchmark in her meteoric rise to a top-tier presidential candidate.
...The Minnesota congresswoman narrowly outpaced Libertarian Rep. Ron Paul, who had 4,671 votes, and whose red-T-shirt-wearing supporters flooded the campus of Iowa State University and packed the arena when Paul spoke.
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty finished third with 2,293, a showing that keeps him in the game for next year’s Iowa caucuses, but had to come off as slightly disappointing.
The hope in his camp was that his organization muscle in Iowa would propel him to the top, but he was no match for the charismatic Bachmann, whose political star continues its dizzying ascent. Where Pawlenty relied on traditional, on-the-ground campaigning, Bachmann rode a wave of media-fueled enthusiasm that, right now, shows no sign of abating.

A similar meteoric rise by Joe Miller quickly turned into an epic meltdown. His primary success began a continuing circus of clusterfuckery on the campaign trail. Does this incident with the press mark the beginning of a similar meltdown? Are there any similarities to the Palin family circus? Where is DZ Bill? The Bachmann campaign needs you!
Well of course. Don Lemon was black, openly gay, with a microphone in his hand. How scary is that?
ReplyDeleteIt's really amazing that these people who want us to believe have "steel spines" and are of leadership quality, are entirely incapable of dealing with tepid media "assaults", much less HOSTILE media (if such a thing even exists).
ReplyDeleteI mean, if these losers can't even cope with questions about the things they do or claim they believe in, does ANYONE *really* want them dealing with foreign powers or having their hands on the nuke codes?
Seriously, if this is the best they can do, they should find some other line of work, because it's just pathetic. When did our politicians become such spineless yellow crybabies?
3:37 "The Silver Fox (more like a gummy bear) told a reporter that he pushed himself into a cart?"
ReplyDeleteVery mature. And wicked.

Agreed, 3:37! So I guess when Marcus "prayed away the Gay," he forgot to "pray away the lying."
who do these people think they are that they can treat the press, or any other american seeking answers to pertinent questions in such a brutish manner? and of all people, the handsome, smart, charming, and adorable don lemon?!? i wonder if the bachman campaign wants to keep him away from the crazy couple so he doesn't ask any of those, you know, annoying "gay" questions? so instead of praying away the gay in this instance, they elbowed and pushed "the gay" into a golf cart only to have marcus tell him he did it to himself. some therapist you are, marcus. i wonder if michele was developing a migraine, and marcus developing another one of those corn dogs. what happened to minnesota nice?
ReplyDeleteCould it be because Don Lemon recently wrote a book and came out as a gay man publicly on television? That, and he's handsome as hell and african american. And for the record, Don isn't known for "Gotcha" questions nor yellow journalism, he's professional and tries to remain neutral while reporting the news.
ReplyDeleteNow we know Michelle's triggers for migraines (lesbians and gays other than Marcus) and Marcus's taste in gay men, (lily white gay men).
They got their thug mentality toward the press from Sarah Palins playbook.
I hope he presses charges against them. They can't be allowed to get away with this. I don't know if I can take much more of the GOP gestapo antics. This depresses me.
ReplyDeleteCan almost predict how Faux and a couple others will portray this. I fully expect them to go with the 'ambush' theory and run his recent announcement on a 24 hr loop as some sort of bizarre validation. It's sad but we've come to see that 'crazy' works for these folks and their audiences.
ReplyDeleteI rarely watch network news but occasionally tune in to see how they handle certain stories. The three majors are getting more Faux like every day, never mind their 15 sec attention to detail style. I expect to hear "Up next, Did CNN anchor heckle Rep candidate over gay rights issue? sigh
Marcus will be caught with a male prostitute within the next six months. The Bachmann's lifestyle will not stand up to public scrutiny.
ReplyDeleteHas America really come to this?
ReplyDeleteThe founding fathers were so intelligent! And they really tried. God, how hard they tried.
I just happened upon this site. If I were speaking I would now be speechless!
ReplyDeleteI watched the video. Those around Bachman ere doing no more then protecting her from a surging crowed. Why are Liberals so vitriolic about and afraid of Conservative women? It seems you only feel things. What about using your brain.
The two videos show that Lennon is a liar. They do not show him being elbowed, only a very dense crowd. Reporters like Lennon of CNN and Brian Ross of ABC may ask questions of a candidate. But they cannot demand an answer and invade the physical space of the candidate.
ReplyDeleteIf the Team Obama media jackals like Lennon want to be embarrassed, they can keep up this desperate campaign of slander against Bachmann. She was definitely shoved at the beginning of the video. If Lemon was shoved, he can ask his mommy for a lollipop to make it feel better before bedtime tonight.
