Jon Stewart points out that the Teabaggers are unhappy with the debt deal because "government still exists."

Yeah I guess these so-called "patriots" simply will not be happy until there is nothing left of the country but a smoldering crater.

You know like the one that sits between their ears where their brains are supposed to be located.

Yeah, I actually know people who say things like: "tax is theft!"

The thing you always notice about them is that beyond the bumpersticker they base their lives on, they never have any image of what life would actually be like in their delusional government-free zone.

If they'd look far enough back in history, it's not very hard to figure out.

But they think that because they have guns and are arrogant, everything would work out in their favor. They really have no clue how evil things would get and how fast their puffy white "patriot" asses would get snuffed by truly ruthless and evil people who ALSO have guns and drugs to "pay" people to use them.

Libertarianism is nihilism under a different name. Or as Alfred sagely put it "some men just want to watch the world burn."

"Jon Stewart points out that the Teabaggers are unhappy with the debt deal because "government still exists.""

that's exactly right! those people won't be happy until there is no government. it's just like the people who endlessly holler tax cuts... (same crowd?) nevermind that taxes are lower now then they have been in 80 years, nevermind that we've received repeated tax cuts, they'll never be happy until there are NO TAXES AT ALL! it's just plain f-ing stupid and irrational.

The problem with the Tea Party is that the members are dangerously stupid and indentured to the Alaskan Porn Star. Nuff said.

Sorry I find about a much humor in failed Democracy today as I did when Nixon was reelected and Reagan was elected.

I stayed drunk the two terms Duhbya was Goveror of Texas and was job chasing for most of his demolition derby Presidency. Was't he the one who called himself the Whore Pres'dint? Or did I mis hear him?

I see the Gov'ment is going to give women access to free birth control
Goody, something else for Obama to bargain away next week.

Oops Congress voted itself five week paid vacation. So well have to wait a few weeks. Till Obama starts a new war somewhere and needs the money back.

    Shit.

If they are so against government, why are they elected officials? Are they going to eliminate their jobs?

Could someone sent a tweet for me? Something like:

"Did you get your Social Security check this month? Thank a Democrat today"

    Or disability check.
Or use Medicare to see a doctor.

    You get my drift. Thanks.

It is too much to post so I'll just do a snip for you with a link.

A Day in the Life of Joe Republican

[snip] Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. [follow the link for the rest]

Jon Stewart is fighting the good fight against the Legions of Darkness, the Tea Party Fundies who'd plunge us into a nightmare theocracy. Ever may Jon wave!

People who hate government should NEVER be taken seriously as candidates for any elected office.

Because of small minority of legislators elected to public office by a largely uniformed block of voters we are all suffering and will continue to suffer an erosion of our personal liberties, public infrastructure, and opportunities for a decent living wage.

Note to tea party members: Don't sacrifice all citizens' rights on the altar of your rigid, paranoid, and stingy belief system.

EJ I love you!! You are exactly right. I said something similar to a guy who wanted 'less government and no taxes." I got a ton of positive responses...he never wrote back...You did good!

I have two self professed tea party "patriots" in my family. A brother who is on unemployment and medicaid who hates taxes and wonders how much it costs for the President (Obama of course, not Bush) to ride in Air Force One, and a brother in law who has been on Social Security disability for 23 years and hates the thought of "Obamacare." Oh the irony.

Tea Party "Patriots" is a fancy way to say dumb asses.

I am beginning to think that the reason they want no government is so that they can murder their perceived enemies with impunity. Seriously. Wish I were kidding.

If they had the mind and ability to do research, they would learn that in real dollar terms, wages are actually lower now than during the Great Depression. The problem is NOT high taxes. The problem is low wages. Low wages mean less money to contribute to their pension funds, whether public or private, meaning they are assured to live in poverty in their old age.

Being against government programs (including taxes that are used for programs that are of help to them: roads, post offices, clean water, clean air, food inspection, Medicare and Social Security, a well-functioning justice system, an educated work force) is diametrically opposed to what is in their best interests, but hate always interferes with reason and lgic.

Sarah Palin and Tea Party are terrorist. They do not like being called terrorist, but sure do not mind calling anyone else that. I hope people have opened their eyes to these nuts.

I think we have the makings for a new America - 1) those who think, read and care...and 2) those who make most of the money and scare the very same people who are on Medicare and Social Security into wanting life back to the way it was in their distant childhoods. You know, those glory days when black people knew their place, our country was on the "upswing", and places like Brazil, India and China were "third world and/or communist". I am personally glad I have traveled, speak fluent Portuguese and don't need a motor-powered scooter to shop at the Walmart.

These people should do some research on what life was like before Social Security was put into law. Life expectancy, quality of life, availability to medicine and doctors, etc. They're against everything before they're for it, and they all depend on it when they need it.
They're railing against government, and what did they cause to happen? A big new shiney, "super congress", of course it'll be Obama's fault.

I loved Enjay's comment and link- too bad it's beyond their comprehension.

4:13 p.m. Curiously, I too have a person in my family who partakes in all these programs and he is as TP- dumb as your relatives. What goes with these idiots? A bit worried their "benefits" might be cut if we all benefit from a single pay health care system? Or that they may have to contribute something? He is insufferable and doesn't listen to anything or anybody but hate radio.

The best thing about this show was the fact that Jon went to Afghanistan to meet with soldiers over the weekend and returned in time to do his show. I love that man!
