I saw this video yesterday and just felt it was something well worth sharing. Enjoy watching as one of Greta Van Susteren's"reporters' bites off more than he can chew.
Here is more about the incident courtesy of Technorati:
The reporter was obtaining interviews for right wing puppet Greta Van Susteren. The folks at Fox News left this little segment on the cutting room floor for understandable reasons. The primary reason is that it contains truth. Despite puppet master Roger Ailes' recent assertion that he was going to attempt to steer the "Fair and Balanced" network away from the hard right, this little exchange must have been a little too much to handle.
At one point the reporter armed with his version of the gotcha question asked if Obama has played any role in the current economic situation.
Mr. Lagreca responded, "I think, myself, as well as many other people, would like to see a little bit more economic justice or social justice, Jesus stuff, as far as feeding the poor, healthcare for the sick. You know, I find it really entertaining that people like to hold the Bill of Rights up while they’re screaming at gay soldiers, but they just can’t wrap their heads around the idea that a for-profit healthcare system doesn’t work. So, let’s just look at it like this, if we want the President to do more, let’s talk to him on a level that actually reaches people, instead of asking for his birth certificate and wasting time with total nonsense like Solyndra."
Coverage of the Wall Street protests has received woefully inadequate coverage from mainstream news even though dozens of people were arrested over the weekend. This interview would have also been lost if it were not for the internet and despite the Fox News reporters assurance that, "you wouldn’t be able to get your message out there without us."
Nobody would ever have known this exchange occurred if it were not posted on You Tube. Now THAT my friends is the power of the internet!
Shouldnt we be making this guy our Joe the plumber like make him joe the progressive or something clever
ReplyDeleteDid you notice that that reporter had no idea what to do? He didn't even ask a question, he tossed the word Obama out there and hoped he'd get a vociferous, spittle'd Teabag response.
ReplyDeleteThat guy is representative of the high-information, left thinking voter. Hot damn!
Who do you want as your movement's ambassador? This guy or Hank Williams, Jr.
Read an article about a polite exchange between a Wall Streeter and a protestor. The Wall Streeter told them if Wall Street is closed down, it will cut off the supply of money to the world economy. She seemed to think that was a reasonable point. My response?
ReplyDeleteTHAT IS THE FUCKING PROBLEM. Everyone around the world is now held hostage by a cartel of parasites who live off the honest labor and sweat of others.
I'll go a step further and say they live off the ideas and work of true capitalists who nurture an idea until it becomes a profitable company. Then the financial cartel swoops in, makes the owner an attractive offer, then proceeds to sell off assets, lay off workers, and feed off the remaining value.
They actually do this last step among various consortiums until every last one of them has gotten their fill before throwing the carcass to the ground.
That was great! I would love to see this guy interviewed by Fox News more often.
ReplyDeleteI shared that clip on my Facebook page. I hope it gains legs.
She alone has had the name recognition and star power to jump in late and still make a go of the 2012 GOP primary.
ReplyDeleteLook at the photo Sarah's own C4P put on their site to keep the hope alive. And the left is sexist?

THANK you for posting this.
ReplyDeleteThe reason Fox 'news' is avoiding the protest (when they're not belittling it or distorting facts) is because it is an actual grassroots protest against Wall Street greed which includes outrage over the lack of jobs, the increasing disparity between the rich and the poor and the feeling that the government cares more about the richest 1% of the population and is completely ignoring the needs of the 99% rest of us. Also, the fact that the
ReplyDeleteprotesters are young (compared to the the Tea Party geriatrics, suggests that they are not aligned to the Republican Party, which Fox is the propaganda network for).
Fox would much rather throw it's support behind a Koch brothers funded Tea Party fake grassroots movement where a predominant number of the participants identify themselves as republicans. And hating and blaming Obama for the mess we are in is a prerequisite for any proud self identifying Tea Bagger.
The name of the game at Fox is to ridicule and laugh at the protesters. When they do send a reporter in to ask questions, they always seem to be snickering in advance at the people being interviewed (who by the way are 100% more coherent and articulate than any teabagger I've ever seen) and then they proceed to laugh at their answers and go on to question the education system in this country. The guy in this video is an example of someone who knows what he is protesting about and why he is there, and he was able to clearly express that. Unlike the clueless teabaggers fox is used to interviewing.
That's why there is no need to ask why the tea party has not aligned itself in solidarity with the Wall Street Protesters. The Wall Street Protesters want actual reform in government and the Tea Party just wants to
rant about the Constitution, complain about social programs that they themselves benefit from and blame Obama for the mess that the country is in. Which of course is really more about the fact he is a democrat and being the wrong skin color doesn't help, because they sure as shit didn't get off their asses to protest against Bush, the most corrupt President in recent history.
ROCK ON!!
ReplyDeleteI love this man!
ReplyDeleteThat guy was awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat young man was so articulate! He'd be a great spokesman for progressive views. And yes, it was the Internet that yanked this Wall St protest story from behind the veil of silence the entire msm drew around it. The 'lamestream' media just ain't keeping up with the times!
ReplyDeleteBoobs of a feather, flock together:
ReplyDeleteFrom an interview posted today on Huffington Post, with Roger Ailes:
From the start, Ailes has steadfastly denied any such political bias or agenda on the part of his network. Politics, schmolitics: "I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings," he declares.
Wow! That was freaking awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThat guy needs to be interviewed...BY ANYONE...more often!
Hey Gryphen,
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for:
1) Something interesting regarding Trig that you recently promised.
2) Something interesting regarding Shailey Tripp that you also promised us.
3) An update on "Fred's" book that you said was coming out soon.
I'm sure there were some other teases that you did that are not mentioned here.
Did Fox air this interview? I saw it on the internet and thought WOW! He was awesome and so articulate...love this guy!
ReplyDeleteI think Faux approached this guy because he was a little overweight and wore what to me looked like a confederate hat. I think they thought they had an inarticulate red neck and were they surprised!!! Now what about the reporters promise that this guy would have an unfettered opportunity to get his message out? Just about as good as Ailes promise that FAUX would be a real news station. This guy was great!!
ReplyDeleteThere are several videos of this guy, whose name is Jesse, destroying reporters lately. You can find them at DailyKos, where he posts as MinistryofTruth.
ReplyDeleteHe wrote a book, too.
Since we're on FOX, this little tidbit made me laugh. You think Roger doesn't know how to deliver a smack down when he decides it's time?
ReplyDeleteFrom the start, Ailes has steadfastly denied any such political bias or agenda on the part of his network. Politics, schmolitics: "I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings," he declares.
You might want to expand that to the MSM and RNC and you've solved the problem of how these fools in the media keep covering up her lies and deceptions.
To think they would have gladly let this crazy ass woman be one heartbeat away (and that probably would have led Toad to get his wasilla mafia in to make sure that heart beat was a short one) from leading our country?
The person who rescued this footage deserves a medal!
ReplyDelete5:20, definition of Mitt Romney right there. He and his company (the one that made him a millionaire) did the same thing: buy profitable companies, strip them of their assets to sell, fire all the workers, and shut them down while pocketing the cash accumulated. It's known as vulture capitalism and it is evil. It is what those who put restrictions on capitalism were afraid of, those who sought to save our economic system from itself. For if those restrictions are not in place our system devolves into feudalism: a massive lower class that funds a tiny economic royalty. This is what the GOP, huge business, and the rich in the religious movement have been working towards for over 40 years.
ReplyDeleteOccupy Wall Street has a huge number of people who are as tuned into reality as the man in the video to our actual history and truth about corporations, politicians, and the dominionists. They come in all ages, in fact the young people are calling for more older people to join them. They have a lot of wonderful ideas. They have given me hope that maybe we can remake our country into a democracy again, maybe our constitution will be reactivated., maybe the hoards of people incarcerated in the systems of gulags will get some justice, maybe we can stop the destruction of our planet, maybe we can create jobs for a new kind of economy, maybe we can stop them from destroying social security, Medicare and Medicaid and maybe we can get a health care system that works. Just maybe we can if we all join them and own the power of the people.
ReplyDeleteGrif Jenkins is a pussy
ReplyDeleteThis man speaks for all of us who care. I think history will be littered with the tears of those who are not in a position to speak out and are destined to suffer this world in silence.
ReplyDelete"What would Jesus do", indeed.
Compare this man to some of the TPers who have been interviewed over the past few years. He is articulate, knowledgeable, and can speak in complete sentences with correct grammar. When questioned about his statements, he can defend his views with facts and statistics.
ReplyDeleteThey faithfully regurgitate the latest talking points they receive from Faux News in poorly worded sentence fragments that make no sense. When questioned about their views, they respond with either blank stares or simply repeat, word for word, what they just said. The use words improperly, their grammar is atrocious and they wear tea bags hanging from their hats.
I know which one I'd prefer to represent me!

Can anyone post a link to the guy in the Fox piece? Someone said his name is "Jesse" and that he has a book?
ReplyDeleteHe's very articulate and I'd love to see him on LOD, Maddow, or - even - Fox!!!
Google is my friend! Here's the info on Jesse.

Still Waiting @ 6:47 a.m.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure you are still waiting for your diaper change.
And then you have this dipshit using her CNN reporting credentials to tell the world how brilliant, unbiased and in-depth her assessment of the Occupy Wall Street protest is.

I haven't read the comments yet; still laughing at the swift, articulate responses of the young man in front of the microphone. And I have this strong hunch that the reason he was chosen by the Fox news employee was that his hat resembles a Confederate army cap. It might actually be one of those; but most of the people who still cherish the South and its legends do NOT have such an articulate grasp of today's problems! Fox expected an ally. Bwa ha ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteThe media is working hard to spin this as a left-wing communists-and-unions, liberal-hippie movement. The Left will be used to hijack this movement, just like the Right co-opted the Tea Party movement, which was begun to protest TARP and the bank bail-outs. The Tea Party movement had it's roots in financial protest, too, until it was taken over by the Dick Armey, Koch bros, Beck-and-Palin crowd. Conservatives are being told this is a Soros funded operation. Once they get the unions and socialist organizations involved, the movement will fizzle. Agent provocateurs spouting Marx and wearing Che Guevara T-shirts, you know the drill. The Debt Slaves must not be allowed to agree. They'll probably bring in the pro-choicers, too, just for good measure. Divide and Conquer. The War must go on.
ReplyDeleteThis protester...the protest...makes me proud!
ReplyDeleteThe story goes that the tea party was founded because of the bailout. If they meant it, and aren't just an anti-Obama crowd, they'd be behind Occupy Wall Street.
The movement is growing. There is a facebook page and several web sites dedicated to upcoming peaceful protests in several cities and countries.

wow! and he didn't have to look at notes on his hand or fumble over his information and he is even intelligent! good for him (and us too)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 8:52,
ReplyDeleteWow! That was really an intelligent putdown. I just don't know hot to react. Did you learn that from someone at C4P?
We Progressives need to start our own movement! We need to learn from the Tea Party and fight our good fight. I would love to be at a Progressive rally wearing a t-shirt with a Union Soldier on it stepping on a Confederate Flag with a slogan that says "We won the war so get over it! America is not going back!"
ReplyDeleteIt's time to FIGHT!
Yep! FOX reporter thought he spotted a Confederate type redneck in gray and swooped in. FOXie thought he'd get the protester jist a tawking through missing teeth and some good old boy's them theres and aw shuckses and thereby illustrate what idiots the Wall Street protesters really are...
ReplyDeleteThe utterly dismayed FOXie must have thrown up a little in his own mouth when his suspected redneck opened up and poured forth an effective, sensible, cognizant, intelligent, well spoken, deft, simplistically brilliant take on the major economic issues faced by middle class America today. YEEEHAW!
Now let's see this interview on CNN. Shyeah...doubtful.
VHTG
Give Jesse La Greca a talk show!! And maybe send a few bucks to this guy who did what others in the mainstream Press did not . . . No 'Joe the Plumber' here! This guy is as articulate as Voltaire. WHY is he unemployed? Eh, MSNBC? Current?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 5:13? I'm baggin the Hankster for an intelligent, well-informed, personable first responder like that great guy wearing a Union Army kepi, keeping an idiot reporter at bay. I think our time has come.
ReplyDelete@10:21 It's people like you that keep us divided as a nation. What we learned from the tea-partiers is how movements become co-opted. People like you would be happy fighting the right-wingers, and this is not what the OWS movement is about. Some of us don't like war, you see. Now get out of here and go hug a tea-bagger and find some common ground, that's what the OWS movement is about.
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous 11:21
ReplyDeleteNo, it's wimps like you that bring a knife to a gun fight. You are probably one of those that love the OLD SOUTH and want to take America back. I was not talking about another Civil War but I damn well do think we need to remind the Tea Baggers that the Union WON THE DAMN WAR and the OLD SOUTH will never rise again. And any person who wants the OLD SOUTH to rise again is RACIST and DIVISIVE.
Get a clue and remember you can kick someone off somebody elses blog.

Sweetie, this is exactly why the Tea Baggers and the Right are winning the good fight today. They don't play fair. They don't want common ground. They want to RULE. And until people like you get this the Right will continue to win. It's a different day now.
I first saw this on Facebook and didn't bother to clik on it, as I just assumed I'd hear something from a guy looking like that, along the lines of, "Uhhh, yeah...that there Obama guy done broke into ma house last night, and stole alla ma guns!"
ReplyDeleteColour me surprised as hell...and pleased as can be, to have someone come off so well informed, and SANE sounding.
Contrast that with the interviews we had to put up with when the Tea Baggers were being bussed in to protest the healthcare passage, saying such things as, "I don't need no one messing with my health plan...its already really good. I haven't been sick a day in my life."
I freaking love this guy!
ReplyDeleteDayum! So different than sticking a mic in a Palin-bots face at a tea party rally. Well done Lagreca!
ReplyDeleteCheck this out.
