If a picture paints a thousand words then what do these pictures tell you?

More here.

Which couple makes you think of progress and hope, and which one makes you visualize nuclear explosions and widespread pestilence and famine?

    In all fairness to Queen Quitter, perhaps she was just having a bad, Todd Beat Down day, and got caught on camera.

    Oh wait... we haven't seen any other side of her on film.

    As opposed to the Obama's, who always seem to be caught looking like respectful, loving, parents and partners. Perhaps they have a mean streak in them ... perhaps not. But they never do it in public.

  9. Obamas: Love, peace, security - not only towards each other but towards their daughters as well.

    Palins: Chaos, irresponsibility, deceit, violence, disrepect, selfishness, betrayal.

    For a perfect photo that captures the personalities and relationship between Sarah and Todd, I think you should use the Belmont photo of them - the one of them in box seats with her scowling at something or someone in the distance and him ignoring her.

    Sarah, I heard Tiemessen's water cooler gossip is that you had PAC staff leak this "filing deadline inquiry" in order to deflect attention from the fact that your PAC expenses are not going to add up with your PAC expenditures.

    Her PAC had a filing deadline of 9/30/2011, didn't it ?

    With time running out for Sarah Palin to decide whether to enter the fray for the Republican presidential nomination, much has been made of her hold over a fanatical if diminishing fan base while very little has been made of her hold over a supplicant and unquestioning press. That, of course, is because the press isn't about to put on a hair shirt and flail itself with birch bessoms over any of its manifold failings.

    The former vice presidential candidate and half-term governor is, of course, a masterful if primitive manipulator, as well as the kind of bully you would run into in a girls locker room in high school. I cannot recall a politician with a national reach as adapt at obfuscating and conning in the modern era -- or perhaps any era, but make no mistake about it: Palin already would be the answer to a trivia question had she not played the press so adeptly, which is to say allow itself to be played.

    Then again, the press has missed or had to play catch-up on virtually every big story of the new millennium: The Bush imperial presidency and torture regime, the 9/11 cover-up, the historic blunder and waste of the Iraq War, the rise of social media, and the emergence of the Vampire Elite -- the Wall Street tycoons and banksters -- who are a de facto shadow government and have driven the U.S. into insolvency and many a Main Street denizen into bankruptcy.

    The difference with Palin is that she is not a complex or interlocking web of people, places and issues that is difficult to recognize, let alone penetrate. She is but a single megalomaniac, as Joe McGinniss correctly labels her in The Rogue, his new and deeply unflattering biography.

    The typical response of editors and reporters when asked about their serial uncuriosity about a women who might have become president had circumstances been a bit different and John McCain was elected and then had one martini too many is that her public record is of negligible interest, so why should the press be interested? Talk about disingenuous.

    But it is with my favorite Palin story -- and one that drives many otherwise sane blog commenters to distraction -- that the press has completely fallen down. That is the fact that three and a half years after the birth of her son Trig there is no proof that she is his biological mother.

    Rumors, innuendo and inconclusive photographs do not a true story make although the mountain of circumstantial evidence of a birth hoax is Himalayan and still growing, which is why it has behooved the press -- even one damned curious reporter, please -- to try to get to the bottom of the story. The only one who has, a reporter for the Anchorage Daily News, got her ears pinned back for trying.

    Television cable news networks have been especially complicitous because Palin is good for their ratings no matter that she's a one-woman entertainment company.

    If Palin seeks the nomination, she will be eaten alive while being deprived of the big bucks from her Fox News gig. If she doesn't run, she will have ceded her halo as the great conservative hope as well as the only reason for being taken seriously.

    But no matter what Palin decides to do the press will continue bowing and scraping.

    Hi Gryphen! The picture of President Obama and the First Lady radiates with class, dignity and intellect, while the other two losers shows them as cold, calculating and conniving. Personally, I find it quite offensive to put these two photos on the same page; there is NO comparison. President Obama speaks with clarity and composure; $arah shrieks with vapidity and vitriol. One is a mature adult, the other is still stuck in junior high with no brains. Will $arah shriek in South (or North) Korea next week; or will she bail out due to "family commitments"? Or maybe the real reason is the whole planet knows that she is just an idiot and grifter. Judgment Day is here $arah; be very afraid...

    MeAgain is letting us know some more tidbits:

    Azure Ghost,

    Hi, big fan!

    9:51 is right on the mark.

    (She is referencing this:

    << Yo! Azure Ghost

    I do hope that MeAgain responds to your request, but in the meantime, something that MeAgain did mention the other day is that Sarah seems to be going or is BALD. I would LOVE to see you do something related to that, something that looks patchy and unattractive, which I imagine her hair loss is, given all the nasty wigs she plops on her big ol' head. Also, those clawlike hands of hers are frightening and I suspect the wonky eye is worth addressing. Also, too, don't forget those nasty, narly toes of hers all funky and fetid.

    Just a few humble suggestions of what I believe is representative of Sarah's decrepid demeanor.

    I get an image of rotting from the inside, barely encased by a once attractive shell that is withering and melting against the stench of rot suffocating it, when I think of that woman...take away the shell, the physical blinder and what you have left is a seething, raging, snarling pile of fetid horror.

    9:51 PM >>

    If you circulated a photo of Sarah with, say...a Giuliani style comb-over? The canned goods might actually go THROUGH the fridge.

    She's super paranoid about her hands because Todd said something about her "bony claws".

    But the biggie, the thing which keeps Sarah as the raging antagonistic shrew we all know and abhor--the inferiority complex regarding her intelligence. Or total lack of it, rather. She is in constant fear that it will be found out she couldn't hack an undergrad degree and she avoids debates and reporters as much to avoid looking stupid as to avoid questions about Trig(s).

    That's why she holds such a bitter, intense grudge against Couric and why she immediately accused the person who asked her "what did you learn today?" at the Paul Revere museum of practicing "gotcha" journalism. And when Jon Stewart said "it's not a 'gotcha' question just because it got...cha!" Sarah spent days railing against him.

    Oh, she also is very paranoid lately about adult onset acne. I think all the crap she's putting in her body is causing the breakouts (she claims it's stress) and she got a foundation spray gun type thing like movie makeup artists use to cover the blemishes but I think the layers of makeup cause her to look even worse.

    The other thing that is really worrying her right now is that people will start making more of an issue about Track having gotten Britta pregnant before they were married. That's why she won't even talk about her newest grandchild--she doesn't want to open the door to being asked if she still believes in abstinence only education now that her two eldest children have gotten pregnant or gotten someone pregnant out of wedlock.

    She made those poor kids pose for that "wedding" photo...even though I don't think she managed to strong-arm them into a legal marriage.

    Oh! And she is having a perpetual code red meltdown about the big 5-0 drawing nigh in just a couple of years.

    I look forward to your next masterpiece!

    -MeAgain

    She's being outshone politically by the surprisingly successful Holly Golightly batshittery of Michele Bachmann, outsold by a movie about a dolphin with an artificial tail, and out gaffed by Rick Perry and his racist hunting lodge. The number of people who love her has dwindled, Roger Ailes thinks she's stupid, and the people who can't stand her can't even bring themselves to watch a movie about how much she sucks. Could This Be Sarah Palin’s Moment?

    Palin has long been written off as a possible 2012 candidate by pundits who look at her terrible general-election poll ratings and her questionable work ethic and conclude her chronic refusal to rule out a run is no more than a ruse to keep her name in the news. She hasn’t made any effort to put together a skeleton organization or to sustain any sort of continuous presence in national political discourse. But throughout the “invisible primary,” Palin has consistently said that if she wanted to, she could run the kind of wildly unconventional campaign that makes polling, organization, and the attitudes of elites completely irrelevant. It is perhaps worth considering the possibility that she believes what she is saying. If she does, the current situation must look tempting indeed.

    McGinniss is an accomplished and lively writer, clearly much taken by Alaska's dramatic frontier scenery and by its people, whom he describes repeatedly as friendly, generous, and open. By an extraordinary stroke of fortune, he ended up living for several months literally next door to the Palins, a fact that sent her and her husband, Todd, into paroxysms of paranoid frenzy.

    The book is based on a very large number of personal interviews with a wide range of Alaskans, as well as on a good deal of archival research. It traces Palin's entire career, from her college days to the furor surrounding her "blood libel" speech after the shooting of Gabby Giffords. McGinnis succeeds in bringing Wasilla to life quite vividly, so that readers like me who have never been to Alaska can feel ourselves present in Palin's home town.

    The first thing to note is that Wasilla is a very small town indeed -- perhaps six or seven thousand people. Thanks to the fact that multiple marriages seem to be the rule, the people McGinnis interviewed not only know one another, they frequently are related in some way or other. As McGinnis describes it, Wasillans are rather heavy drinkers and drug users, and of course they are all gun owners. A number of friendly people, concerned that McGinnis was putting himself in danger by choosing to live next to the Palins, generously offered him a choice of their five or six pistols, revolvers, shotguns, and automatic weapons, but he elected to go unarmed.

    I come away from the book with four powerful impressions.

    First, Palin is very, very deeply immersed in the end-times, young earth, Second Coming Dominionist movement in Evangelical Christianity. She came to it early, and although she has on occasion kept it from view for political reasons, has remained committed to it throughout her life. Palin professes to believe that the Second Coming, and with it the End Times foretold in Revelations, will occur in her lifetime.

    Second, Palin and her husband, Todd, give every evidence of being arrested emotionally at roughly the Middle School stage of psychological development. She is petty, vindictive, ruthless in her personal relationships, ambitious in roughly the way that a "mean girl" in the tenth grade would be ambitious -- desperate to be the Homecoming Queen and jealous of any girl who threatens her dominance of the schoolyard.

    She is utterly uninterested in government, and apparently spent a good deal of her time as governor shopping at Nordstrom's. Her reading extends to People Magazine, and as she says when a librarian she was trying to force to censor books asked her to look at one of the books she was attempting to have removed from the Wasilla Library, "I don't read things that might change my mind."

    Third, she is utterly without any "motherly" emotions or skills whatsoever. People who have spent time in her home say that she never changed diapers, never cooked a meal, never cared for her children in any of the customary ways. Even though Todd is a bully with an out-of-control temper, it is he, not she, who did what child-rearing actually took place in the Palin home. The marriage is described by many observers as a disaster, with Todd and Sarah constantly shouting at one another and threatening to get a divorce. More interestingly, considering the deliberately sexually provocative public persona she affects, there is very little sex in the marriage.

    Finally, and this to me is the most interesting revelation in the book, Sarah Palin comes across as a profoundly psychologically troubled individual -- ambitious, to be sure, ruthless, no doubt, but not at all in any coherently rational fashion. She is clearly a psychopathic personality, but she also exhibits very strange eating disorders, sleeping disorders, and a level of narcissistic self-involvement that is way beyond what one would expect in a public political figure.

    Politico is reporting that a Palin-affiliated law firm has been making calls on behalf of a mystery candidate to a number of early primary states to determine presidential filing deadlines.

    Perhaps now that Rick Perry is all but out of the race, Michele Bachmann is totally out, and Christie is for sure not getting in Palin sees a nice little spot on that GOP presidential stage to occupy for the next 9 months. Something the media will presumably be thrilled to hear: Romney is far too boring to keep the newscycle running for more than a day or two at best.

    GOP looks past Sarah Palin for 2012

    After spending the better part of three years in the center of the national political spotlight, the former vice presidential candidate appears to have worn out the patience of the GOP.

    Even as Republicans continue to cast about for new options, only a distinct minority are gazing longingly toward Wasilla – or wherever else Palin is in her secretive, largely apolitical travel schedule.

    “She stirs up a lot of conservatives in the base, but I don’t think conservatives are looking to her as a presidential nominee who can save the conservative movement,” said Chuck Muth, the Nevada-based conservative activist. “What niche in the conservative movement does Sarah Palin fill that’s not already filled by one of the other candidates?”

They portray this whole carved out of cream cheese super duper perfect image but when you scratch beneath the surface, it's chaos.

    The way that Barack looks at Michelle is not something that is an act or a random isolated moment. They are clearly comfortable in each other's presence, all the time as well as IN PUBLIC. They lean in to each other, they hold each other's gaze and always seem to be sharing a private joke. And that's what a healthy relationship look like. At ease. Do they have problems? Yes, I am SURE they do. Do they fight - yes, I am sure they do! Most healthy relationships have conflict but it's how it's dealt with that defines the couple, not the absence of conflict.

    The Palins never seem to be at ease with each other in public nor do they ever admit to struggles. Sarah responds to rumours of divorce with "Have you SEEN Todd?" - like a teenage girl who's all about what her bf looks like and has no idea of the man inside.

    When they are out in public together, Todd is either walking stoically behind Sarah, who is usually striding off, practically running, towards adoring supporters with her arm outstretched and the million watt smile. Most of the time - when Sarah is "on", Todd seems to be forgotten. Until after the event is done and it's photo op time. Even then they seem uneasy with each other. When you have a lot to hide - the public spotlight doesn't make it easier. That's the difference between the Obamas and the Palins. The Palins have a LOT to hide. And it shows.

    No amount of spin can erase the past. They can dress up the Palins in fine clothes and snazzy outfits but they're still a very dysfunctional family. I don't revel in it - I wish they would get the help they need.

    Thanks for sharing these photos, it's great to see POTUS have the rock solid support of his beautiful and gracious wife.

    Obama Gains vs. GOP on Jobs as Congress Hits a New Low

    Barack Obama has jumped to a 15-point lead over the Republicans in Congress in trust to handle job creation, a sign the beleaguered president’s $450 billion jobs package has hit its mark in public opinion. Fifty-two percent support the plan – and most say it just might work.

    6:14 AM

    For the record 6:14 Troll. I am subsidizing my part time job with my unemployment insurance that I have been paying into with each paycheck I have ever earned.
    I care more about my president's cleared and approved picture than I do about your goat head queen.

    By the way, do you have any kind of unemployment package for when your PAC money dries up? I mean can you claim paid misinformation hound and liar for sarah palin to the state of Alaska?

    Fox News Boss: I Hired Palin Because She Was ‘Hot And Got Ratings’

    In a rare interview with a non-Fox reporter, Roger Ailes made a shocking declaration while defending himself from accusations that his Fox News network was anything but “fair and balanced.”

    Speaking to The Associated Press, Ailes argued that he hired Sarah Palin not to promote a political agenda, but “because she was hot and got ratings.”

    The interview was intended to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the controversial news network, which Ailes founded with the intention of challenging CNN back in 1996.

    By all accounts, Fox News has succeeded, replacing CNN as the ratings leader for the first time in 2002. By 2010, the network was drawing an average of 1.1 million viewers—more than CNN and MSNBC combined.

    The massive ratings were achieved by Ailes’ famous “fair and balanced” branding of the network, targeting viewers who believe that other networks have a liberal bias while Fox News “delivers them with unvarnished truth.” Yet, he has come under attack over the years from numerous detractors, who rail against what they see as simply “a mouthpiece for the Republican Party.”

    Recently, the attacks on Fox News intensified after Ailes hired several potential GOP candidates, including Palin, as contributors.

    Ailes has defended himself and the network from what he dismisses as the petty complaining of sore losers. “Everybody who’s getting their ass beat vilifies the opponent,” he says. “This is the first rule of fighting.”

    TPM has asked the Palin camp for a response, and will update if one is received.

    Paying A Visit to SarahPAC

    ...The other blog on SarahPAC.com is the "Setting The Record Straight" page. It touts itself as "just the facts" when a more accurate description would be, "Just playing whack-a-mole with every negative depiction of Sarah Palin in the media, whether by a third party or through something Palin herself did or said". Seemingly at random, the blog selects some perceived attack or twisting of words that has caught some attention on one of the big news networks, usually CNN, then spends around 500 defensive, testy words calling foul. It's pretty telling when a public figure's political action committee finds it necessary to put out little fires no one will care about once the next news cycle hits. It indicates that Palin's handlers either see her as a gaffe-spouting liability or a deeply insecure person who literally can't ignore bad press.

    Cannot say the same thing for the Palin frauds. Of course, we know too much about them that is negative - confirmed affairs and children that are a mess.

    @6:14 AM

    There are plenty of unflattering "catch and release" photos of the Obama's too, dumb-ass.

    Of course the unemployed don't care about either photo. But image, and likeablity does matter to some low-info voters. Like the idiots who voted for GWB because they wanted to have a beer with him.

    Don't act like $arah Palin never uses propaganda. She used an entire t.v. show '$arah Palin's Alaksa' to try repair her filthy image. She failed, of course.

    Question: Why do YOU care?

    Oh, shut-up. No one is twisting anything around. As for Piper, she has shown her brattieness in public for all to see.

    The Obama children are well behaved. Their parents never had a reason to make them apologize to reporters. Their parents can take them anywhere.

    Unlike the Palin brats.

    ~~~~
    The woman Never, Ever wanted this for herself or her family. She is not attention hungry and publicity starved. There is plenty of documentation about how much Michelle resisted this life, and how much Barack NEEDED HER to ALLOW HIM to do this.
    She loves her husband THAT much.
    She loves her COUNTRY THAT much.
    Barack Obama is the MAN for the JOB.
    And we have his amazing wife, Michelle, to thank for, yes, allowing him to run. Because Barack and Michelle both knew that it was so, so much more than Barack out on that trail. And then, if they won?
    The scrutiny? Oh my goodness.
    And then, there are the THOUSANDS OF DEATH THREATS AGAINST HER, HER HUSBAND AND HER DAUGHTERS???
    And knowing "some" people will TWIST EVERY. THING. you and/or your husband do or say?
    She's an AMAZING woman.
    I think you hit on something I've noticed but was never consciously aware of until now.
    The Obamas are a couple. Even when they're not touching each other, they are a united pair who have a strong emotional connection.
    The Palins are two people who happen to have the same last name and sometimes happen to be in geographical proximity to each other.
