I know this may shock some of you, but I think that Rick Perry just lost the African American vote.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

In the early years of his political career, Rick Perry began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at his family’s secluded West Texas hunting camp, a place known by the name painted in block letters across a large, flat rock standing upright at its gated entrance.

“Niggerhead,” it read.

But the name of this particular parcel did not change for years after it became associated with Rick Perry, first as a private citizen, then as a state official and finally as Texas governor. Some locals still call it that. As recently as this summer, the slablike rock — lying flat, the name still faintly visible beneath a coat of white paint — remained by the gated entrance to the camp.

When asked last week, Perry said the word on the rock is an “offensive name that has no place in the modern world.” But how, when or whether he dealt with it when he was using the property is less clear and adds a dimension to the emerging biography of Perry, who quickly moved into the top tier of Republican presidential candidates when he entered the race in August.

My understanding is that Perry was VERY embarrassed by this story and threatened to have his Jew lawyer dictate a letter to his dyke receptionist, and have it hand delivered by the one of those Spic bicycle messengers to those faggots over at the Washington Post, asking them to correct the story to make it look like Rick Perry loves the Nig...uh...black folk.

Besides Rick Perry says he has not been at that hunting camp in a "Coon's age." Wait, wait, that came out wrong too!

It appears that Herman Cain finds this story disturbing as well:

“There are some words that do not, basically, inspire the same kind of negativity as that word…the name of the place was called ‘Niggerhead.’ That is very insensitive,” Cain said. “Since Gov. Perry has been going there for years to hunt, I think it shows a lack of sensitivity for a long time of not taking that word off of that rock and renaming the place.”

“It’s just basically a case of insensitivity,” he added.

“That’s just very insensitive,” Cain told Fox News Sunday. “There isn’t a more vile, negative word than the N-word and and for him to leave it there as long as he did before I hear that they finally painted over it, it’s just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country.”

Wow, way to really stand up for your people while still being very careful not to scare of the white voters. Well done Uncle T...uh....I mean Herb Cain.

Gee a Republican presidential candidate is reveled to be a racist. Does this even qualify as "news?"

Prick Perry is just another waste of human flesh. He is making scara look like a saint. The skeletons in his closet have busted down the door and have started torching the place. Can't wait till they make it out of the front yard screaming down the street.

  2. How can anyone believe Perry is the most qualified person in the country to lead us out of our problems? Perry is also suggesting sending U.S. troops into Mexico to combat the drug war. Maybe Mexico can reciprocate by sending troops to Wasilla to help with the drug war there.

This was front page yesterday in print. The whole article was quite disturbing. Slick Rick doesn't realize he's not in Texas anymore where every donor is in an appointed position, and the he literally owns state government.

P-Rick quite possible may be more corrupt than Sarah and Blago. Mind boggling.

You know on the other hand I was noticing that a lot of my Teabagging neighbors haven't picked a side yet. At this point four years ago, they were already sporting Huckabee bumper stickers on their cars. This year, nothing. Interesting.

Not many African Americans vote in Republican primaries and Icky wasn't going to get very many of their votes anyway. But this could easily strengthen his standing amongst teabaggers.

Insensitive? Gosh, Herb. could you be a little more upset? It's far worse than insensitive. It's vile and racist and blatantly white supremist, don't you think? Oh, I know...you too are a Reaganite, and won't criticize a fellow Republican. Guess what? Sometimes your fellow Republicans are just wrong, and need to be called out or you look like a traitor to your race. And Perry needs to crawl back in his snake den and hibernate.

OT: Tomorrow is the day the Undefeated video is available at Walmart.

I wonder if those poor souls who paid $100 and $200 for an advance copy got them yet. Last week they still hadn't gotten them.

Wow. That is just so pathetic.

Gryph, it's nice to see that you found the perfect Perry photo. It really allows the man's rotten inner core to shine right through.

Perry's down, Bachmann's down, Palin's down...That takes care of the worst of the stupidity and craziness. Here's hoping that the mean mouthed, obnoxious, blowhard of a hypocrite Chris Christie is next.

But it was just an affectionate Americana nickname. . .wait, it isn't acceptable in any way, even like that? Hmmmm, Don Imus and Dr. Laura may disagree. Hell, throw in Ann Coulter also too.

Sarah Palin didn't have a problem with Anchorage radio assholes Woody and Wilcox joking about peeing in a Native woman. Subsequent email releases show her telling her staff to hold off on a statement on the issue - she was sticking her finger in mouth not to purge this time, she was testing to winds (the way she claims Obama does (so dignified)) to decide how to respond to the backlash, if any.

I'm not sure Perry ever had the African-American vote.

I suspect we are going to find a lot of creepy stuff out about Christie as well should he jump in the race.

He will make a big splash (sorry, but weight and health are an issue, too)but his attitude towards women is not any better than Perry's - perhaps worse. At least Perry's "sign problem" is passive (on the surface), but Christie is aggressively rude towards women. He is a bully and very, very crude.

  12. Perry's true colors have shown through, but what's up with Mr. Cain calling it "insensitive"?
Tell it like it is, Mr. Cain - Rick Perry is a RACIST!

Herman "Blacks are brain-washed" Cain and Clarence TOMas are cut from the same cloth. Wonder how long it'll be before they turn on him and accuse him of playing the race card. Idiot!!!!

Ah, Gryphen, youre aces in my book!! Jolly good show! BTW, once a politician runs for the nomination and loses they are identified and introduced as such a loser for the rest of their natural born-again days....

I'm not african american, and that word offends me deeply. How anyone can have it on a property they own, and entertain friends over the years who are bound to see it, just shows he's proud of his bigotry.

I couldn't stop chuckling at the chain of slurs you sarcasically and artistically wove into your thread! Great sense of humor.

Perry can try to backpeddle all he wants, but this puts him at the bottom of the list, right next to Palin.

Couldn't happen to a bigger piece of shit.

    Read my lips:

    "No New Texans"

Unfortunately for P.Rick, he not only didn't deny the existence of the offensive moniker outside his family's hunting ranch, he confirmed it, merely quibbling as to WHEN it was painted over, not IF.

P.Rick didn't just touch the third rail of American politics, he laid down on it and started humping it.

P.Rick just swallowed his own corn dog.

There was a creek outside of Fairbanks with the same name,"N.....Head Creek". That was the local name for the large tufts of grass that grew in the marsh areas and were notoriously difficult to navigate. There were actually 8 creeks of the same name scattered across Interior Alaska and the State eventually renamed each one and re-labeled their maps.

The State had these names officially changed about 10 years ago; Perry's a little slow on the uptake.

Here is another example of foot in mouth disease.

    http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/10/03/334530/michele-bachmann-charles-manson/

The Los Angeles Times reports that presidential contender Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) recently thanked a caller on a radio show who said he’d rather vote for infamous serial killer Charles Manson over President Obama. “Hey, thank you for saying that,” she replied. The slip-up is just the latest in a series of blunders that have hobbled Bachmann’s campaign and sent her poll numbers spiraling downwards.

The only thing about this that is a slip up is that Bachmann did this where it was reported. Laughing at jokes about President Obama and serial killers in churches and prayer groups where there are no reporters is probably a common thing for her. It is typical right wing Republican laugh track material in 2011.

I doubt that this hurts Perry much in the primary because the majority of African-Americans are not Republicans.

I can't say that the entire Republican Party and the Tea Party are racists, but they are certainly tolerant to this type of thing. Who else in the Republican Party besides his primary opponents have condemned it??

  20. I have heard of no one in the black community that is surprised about this. Disgusted, yes, but seriously, after Palin's arrival on the scene, it has been report like, one after the other.

At this point, the only thing that would shock me is if it were revealed that a viable republican candidate were revealed NOT to be a racist (sorry, Huntsman, I said viable).

Perry is an ass and I've talked w/folks that live in Austin, TX that totally dislike him too!

I cannot believe the people that represent the Republican party - both as governors and members of the House/Congress. They are asses and need to be dumped during the next election cycle.

Thank God, President Obama is in place and I suspect will be re elected.
