I met Tess and her father just over two years ago now.
We bonded over good food, good music (Provided by Tess), and stories about Alaska. During that brief time I really grew to like Geoff and his family very much.
Whenever Geoffrey and I are on the phone and Tess walks in, she always makes sure to say hi to me or insist that her father say hi on her behalf. She is a great kid, with a great attitude toward life, and a great talent.
Today she is sixteen years old and I have absolutely NO doubt that she is on her way to becoming a wonderful success.
She reminds me of Avril Lavigne.
ReplyDeleteSweet !
ReplyDeleteWhat a talented young woman. Her video portrays a strong and independent female, always a good thing! Good luck Tess with all life's adventures. Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteNice for a Sunday. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGeoffrey is enormously talented and everytime I hear or read about him on IM, I get homesick for Santa Cruz.
Now, I'm here in the reddest, bible belt corner of Oregon and the rainy season has just begun ---nine wet, dark, cold months to miss sunny Santa Cruz, Chocolat, Bookshop Santa Cruz, and public access TV --not to mention all the good people, there.
Sixteen? That is amazing! I am floored by the professional quality of the video and the precocious polish of Tess. I guess talent, something I do not possess, does that for you.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I wonder if the future Grammy winner is named after Hardy´s ¨Tess of the D'Urbervilles?¨
Wow, what a talented kid! She reminds me of a lot of singers from the early 1980s in style and singing ability. I'm sure she's got a great future ahead.
ReplyDeleteThat was wonderful. I'm sure we will be seeing more of her!
ReplyDeleteAwww...that is one talented and pretty young lady! What a nice surprise today. Now, compare this sweet young lady with a palin and the comparison is just too painful!
ReplyDeleteShe's amazing for her young age and she even looks like someone I'd love to meet and I smiled when I watched the video.
Compared to brisdull or willow - both of which I have no desire to ever cross paths with. No desire to hear them, see them or get to know them.
Tess's heart and soul in this video reflects the love of parents and the focus of someone that's been guided and nurtured along the way.
Tess is bright and fresh and just singing her heart out - and she looks playful and I sense a little bit of innocence still remaining within her.
Sorry for the long post - I just so enjoyed this video. thanks!
Tess is just phenomenal! So much talent, so much spirit!
ReplyDelete@6:14am - Sorry to hear you're stuck up in the red corner of Oregon. :(
Come back! It's a lovely sunny Santa Cruz day and Chocolat is just waiting for you to walk in the door!
Such a cute girl with loads of talent...if a dolt like Rebecca Black can become famous, Tess should be a total rock star!
ReplyDeleteJust what I was thinking, Morgan! Like Sk8er Boi. Very talented, Tess!
ReplyDeleteGreat song and video! Well done Tess!
ReplyDeleteGot anymore?
Well, that was fun. She is very talented for sure. Best of luck to her !
ReplyDeleteThat was cute, she's definitely talented! I'll play this for my kids. :)
ReplyDeleteI purchased and read Geoffrey Dunn's book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sorry it didn't get more recognition than it did. But, I feel there is a long-time future to the books written by Dunn and McGinniss..
ReplyDeleteHappy that you were and are involved w/the families.
Just watched Tess' other videos on YouTube, too. Great talent and energy!! Now we can someday say we saw her "when" (Tess, it's a term us old people use after someone becomes famous ;-) Keep aiming for the top, and happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteVery well done, Miss Tess!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gryph, for sharing that.
~Pogo
She is a real cutie pie!
ReplyDelete(I say that as a 60-ish woman who still uses phrases like that even though I've been a feminist since I was 17.)
That was great! She's very cute too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gryphen, and much luck and good wishes to you Tess!
Oh, forgot to say, the video was very well done.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the comment about Bristol and Willow and their trashy mouths and bitterness; Tess looks bright and happy and like a fun young lady.

"Sarah Palin: You Betcha!", filmmaker Nick Broomfield's unflattering look at the former Alaska governor turned presidential hopeful, grossed only around $7,000 while opening in six locations this weekend. Freestyle Releasing distributed the film.
ReplyDeleteThat shakes out to about $389 per day per theater -- meaning that each location averaged less than 40 people each day seeing this movie. That's, like, the popcorn line on Saturday afternoon for box office winner "Dolphin Tale."
With Broomfield's work hardly pro-Palin, the political figure's core followers probably didn't turn out in force to see the movie.
Wow! What an amazingly polished video, and great talent this young lady is gifted with, hope to see/hear more of her!
ReplyDeleteWow, and she's just sixteen? Amazing!
