A lonely vigil in remote Alaska. I'm wearing a muskox neck warmer (that is not a beard on my face) and I am a woman. The dogs are rescues. The tundra is outside of Bethel, Alaska. The day is chill. The sentiment is solid. Find your spot. Occupy it. Even if it is only your own mind. Keep this going...
Now THAT is an Alaskan!
I knew this movement had momentum, but even I did not realize it could get all the way to the frozen north.
Let's see the Teabaggers top that!
That is excellent.
ReplyDeleteA movement that is built on Truth, Hope and accountability will spring new branches.
ReplyDeleteOne that is built on Tea lies, hate and racism will wither and die.
We shall Occupy and we shall overcome.
Great day to honour MLK.
The dogs look cute, lucky to have been rescued by a SMART woman like her. The T.P'ers have to be bused in, fed a meal and encouraged to protest. This lady represents the real protesters, willing to have her voice heard (or sign read) without free anything.
ReplyDeleteGo Baby, go!! You're super and gave me hearty laugh to boot. (Obviously this is for the woman in the photo. Thanks for bringing it to us)
ReplyDeleteAside from the great sentiment, that is just a totally awesome picture.
ReplyDeleteOver 1000 cities in 80 countries have staged "Occupy" protests.
ReplyDeleteEven with the 24/7 support of Fox News and an endless bankroll from the Koch brothers, the Tea Party Express never got close to the support of the "Occupy" protests.
This is what REAL grassroots looks like.
My hat's off to the lady with the muskox neck warmer outstanding in her field.
Those dogs look particularity upset that the establishment controls all of the bones.

ReplyDeleteBird Brain
That just tickled me! That picture and the cardboard poster will make me smile all day.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely find this fitting and appropriate. Griffin, I love how your mind works.
ReplyDeleteThis honors the movement and the Martin Luther King Jr. legacy.
This is America and the World at it's best, one voice matters.
We may not be able to be there in person, but we can be there in spirit and solidarity.
I love it !!! (thank you)
ReplyDeletePlease let her know she has inspired me to
Occupy the Uppity Suburbs !
xoxox
Now THAT's the spirit!
ReplyDeleteOccupy Walnut Creek was held this past Wednesday. WC is trendy California suburban. We stood on four corners which included being in front of Tiffany's and Bank of America. For a small city like this, 200 people showing up was amazing! My guess is about 95% white, 75% senior citizens, and a smattering of teens. Fairly sedate crowd but enthusiastic nonetheless. Great signs, great energy! Lots of honking horns in support. Very good day. (Oh yeah, one flip of the bird from a passing motorist.) Will repeat Occupy WC this Wednesday!

Please be careful what you ask for!
;-)
How is it that this gives me more hope than anything so far? Thanks for sharing this, Jesse.
ReplyDeleteThe Conservatives are spitting mad up in Fairbanks today. Reading their comments in the News Miner concerning the march in Fairbanks is a real hoot. I sure hope they come back to reality some day.
ReplyDeleteThat is fucking great!
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine in Southern California said she saw the picture in the L.A. Times.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl.
ReplyDeleteYour message has already reached hundreds just thanks to Gryphen. Now it will go even further.
